I think both sports require skills. Footballers are clearly more skilled at intricate footwork…rugby players have far more rules they have to adhere to…no forward passes, rules where you can tackle, how you can hold, how long you before you have to release the ball…even if you have control of the ball when you score a try. Football has less rules in this sense. I think overall, rugby is the more skillful when you look at the game in its entirety - the speed, mental aspect, tactical play, fitness required as well as rule adherence.

A rugby seven player can easily play 15s-- and can be a brain power in the team. A 15s player cannot easily qualify to play 7s. 7s players are picked from the best players in 15s.
