I usually don't comment on political threads for fear of invective but the love life and bank account analogy got me laughing so hard my neighbours must think I'm crazy cheesy cheesy

FamilyRe: Favourite Memory Of A Lost Loved One by shocks(m): 5:37pm On Jan 05, 2015
My childhood friend right from primary school. I was the class prefect and he was my assistant. I remember how we used to make paper models of wrestling characters and entertain the whole class with our table wrestlemania! He taught me how to do the crazy legs and running man dance and I taught him how to do the moon walk (backslide) and the toe stand; Michael Jackson's dance moves.

The is almost no Van Damme movie we did not reenact in school.

We saw last at a reunion in December 2012. He died suddenly after that.

I miss him everyday.

Yea. I do. Humming the song right now in my head. Such soft song it was.
It went like this if I remember correctly; "Bertha, lovely Bertha, you are lovely machine, and everyone who works with you will know what I mean"

Lol! Cant forget the "cowboy vs Indian" movies we made with those horse and rider toys.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Former Currencies (photos) by shocks(m): 10:36am On Sep 27, 2014
Amazing how time flies and inlflation adjusts. I remember a classmate of mine was interrogated by the class teacher for being in possession of a five naira note! At a time when rich kids. brandished one naira notes, having five naira notes as primary school kid was unthinkable. unless u wanted to pay ur PTA levy to the bursa urself!

FoodRe: Moin-moin: To Peel Or Not To Peel The Beans by shocks(m): 10:02am On Jul 30, 2014
Funny enough, there is a tribe in Edo state that has a special moi-moi delicacy: cooked straight without peeling and served with okra. U need to see how they wolf it down like it's deep fried turkey!

I think it's the Imoga people of Akoko-Edo.

Blessed are you amongst Nairalanders! I couldnt have put it better.
info@lpf:
This is what I find interesting:
Not to be condescending, but practically EVERYONE commenting in this thread who actually read books, comprehended the reading and remembers what they read writes and communicates pretty darned well. Well thought out sentences, grammatically sound construction, with good spelling. Compare with most other threads on NL with "scatta scatta" English, status updates on FB or Twitter, email messages and even memos at work written by Nigerians with multiple fancy sounding degrees!

It may seem simplistic, but perhaps the true solution to Nigeria's failing education system lies primarily in reading literacy - go back to the fundamentals! Encourage early reading, fund libraries, restock libraries, promote reading contests etc! Just saying...

Cant believe the sudden rush of nostalgia. Wish I could turn back the hands of time. Who remembers "An African Night's Entertainment" with Abubakar, Mallam Shehu, Zainobe and the deviant Kyauta? Must have read that book a thousand times then!

This one isn't really unadvertised but considering that not too many people have seen it on TV on account of regional coverage I will post it here.

If you live in or around Anambra State, it might interest you to know that Minaj Broadcast International is recruiting.

The Advertisement for an aptitude test which comes up on Monday the 16th of September 2013 has been on air for about a week now. Those who who might not have seen the advert or receive MBI signals in their area but are interested should simply turn up on the said date at the Minaj RadioVision Plaza, Obosi, Anambra State with their CVs and photocopies of credentials. The time is 9:00 AM.

The advert states that the minimum requirements are: a good first degree (no specific discipline) an excellent command of English language and a passion for broadcasting.

Wish you all the best.
