CHINA — A 27-year-old Wal-mart manager is dead after being stabbed in the throat with a knife by a reported shoplifter.

It happened Thursday at the Wal-Mart supermarket in Zhanjiang, south China's Guangdong Province.

The 27-year-old assistant manager Lin Meimei was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sources told the Shanghai Morning Post the man entered the store around 4:30 pm picked up two lunch boxes and then ate them on the third floor.
An undercover security guard witnessed this and confronted the man along Lin.

The man ran to the portion of the store selling knives, grabbed one and attacked Lin.
Cellphone footage of the horrific attack appeared on the social media site Weibo. It shows Lin on the ground in a pool of blood holding her throat. Onlookers take off their shirts and wrap them around her neck to try and stop the bleeding.

Lin, who local sources said was preparing to get married next month, was pronounced dead at the scene by doctors.

Police posted surveillance photos of the suspect online which led to his arrest Thursday night in a nearby village.

Beijing (CNN)The "hottest" shopping destination in Beijing is putting one of the world's most popular clothing chains in the hot seat.

In a viral smartphone video posted Tuesday, a young Chinese couple can be seen having passionate sex in what appears to be a Uniqlo store fitting room.

A bespectacled man, dressed in black from head to toe, is heard telling a naked woman to kiss him as he tapes their steamy session in the mirror.

"Call me husband" and "say we'll be together" were a few of other phrases he uttered to her ear as piped music played in the background.

Then, toward the end of the video, another female voice -- over an intercom:
"Dear customers, welcome to the Uniqlo store at Sanlitun. There are no fitting rooms on the first floor. Please proceed to the second and third floor if you need to try clothes on."

The footage went viral overnight, attracting millions of views and thousands of comments. By midday Wednesday, however, most posts containing the clip had been taken down.

Beijing police announced online that they had received complaints about the video and would investigate the case.
Uniqlo: It wasn't us
Uniqlo is one of the world's biggest "fast-fashion" chains that has been quickly expanding its presence in the Chinese market.

Its three-story flagship store at Sanlitun, one of the trendiest retail and entertainment districts in Beijing, teems with shoppers throughout the day.

Some Chinese Internet users speculated the footage was a marketing ploy by Uniqlo, prompting the Japan-based company to issue a statement denying any involvement.

"As a responsible international brand, Uniqlo is dedicated to providing consumers with safe, comfortable and quality shopping experiences and locations," the company said. "We would like to remind all customers to abide by society's moral standard... and properly and appropriately use our fitting rooms."

Sex video attracts shoppers
But the video did more than just turn heads online. On Wednesday evening, a steady stream of visitors took selfies outside Uniqlo's flagship store in Beijing, a glass modernist building decorated with the company's red logo.

"I came here because of the clip," said a young Chinese man, who asked not to be named while taking a photo of himself in front of the store.

All six of the customers CNN spoke with inside the store said they were browsing the aisles and looking for the infamous fitting room purely because of the sex video.

"I never heard of Uniqlo before the clip," said a university student, shopping for printed T-shirts who asked only to be identified by his last name Zhang.
"It's definitely a marketing strategy," said a 17-year-old wearing a red bandana around his head who asked only to be named as Mike. He came to the shop for the first time with two female friends decked out in flamboyant, pop culture-infused outfits.

"We came here specifically to check out the fitting room," said Melody Gao, an 18-year-old friend of Mike wearing hot-pink sunglasses, a front ponytail and an over-sized basketball jersey.

Guards with walkie-talkies stood outside the busy fitting rooms on the store's second and third floors.

Asked about the sex video, an Uniqlo employee just smiled, shook his head in silence and then carried on folding men's underwear.

Paula and Petter Imafidon were just 8 years old when they broke the world’s mathematics record previously held by their old sister who was 9 at the time.

In 2009, the twin 8 year olds passed the University of Cambridge Advance Maths A level exam. Most of us are baffled by basic Algebra, but they thought it was easy.

However, this wasn’t their their first time with this level of math. At the age of seven, the twins passed A Level math at Oxford University the previous year.

Clearly, this family has a high math aptitude, but as the father said neither of them are mathematicians. They just have an atmosphere conducive to learning and success.

A few stand out moments

1. The kids look at math as a game and have fun.

2. Healthy competition compels children, says the father.

3. The finger multiplication trick they demonstrated at the end. I’ve never seen that and believe it could help many moving forward.

China’s former security tsar Zhou Yongkang has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Tianjin No.1 Intermediate People’s Court.

He was also stripped of all political rights for life and all his personal assets were confiscated, Xinhua reported on Thursday.

State television showed pictures of a white-haired Zhou admitting his guilt in court and saying that he would not appeal.

Zhou, the most senior Chinese official to stand trial on graft charges in decades, was formally charged in April with taking bribes, abuse of power and intentionally leaking state secrets.

On the charge of taking bribes, Zhou was sentenced to life imprisonment, had his political rights withdrawn for life and his personal assets confiscated.

For abuse of power, he received seven years’ imprisonment, and for leaking state secrets he received four years’ imprisonment.

The Tianjin court started a closed-door trial on May 22. The trial was not open to the public because “some evidence of his crimes involved state secrets”, the report said.

The court ruled that Zhou and his family had taken bribes totaling 129.7 million yuan (HK$164 million) from Zhou’s close allies.

It said that Zhou accepted bribes worth 731,100 yuan from Jiang Jiemin, the former head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and former chairman of the state-run China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), where Zhou was a top official for 10 years.

His son Zhou Bin and wife Jia Xiaoye received 129 million yuan from others including Sichuan businessman Wu Bing, former Luliang mayor Ding Xuefeng, CNPC chief accountant Wen Qingshan and Zhou Hao, the former party chief of a subsidiary of CNPC.

The court said Zhou had abused his power by asking Jiang and former Sichuan deputy party chief Li Chuncheng to direct more than 2.13 billion yuan of illegal gains to his son and other businessmen, causing a loss of 1.48 billion yuan to the Chinese economy.

Zhou had also given six classified documents, of which five were top secret, to Cao Yongzheng, who is a “qigong master” according to mainland media.

The court said that while Zhou had accepted a “huge” amount of bribes, he had confessed his crimes and pleaded guilty. Most of the bribes had been taken by his relatives and he had asked them to hand back the money, it noted, adding that all the money had been confiscated.

Therefore, said the court, he had been given a “lenient” punishment.

The maximum punishment for bribery is death; the state-secret and abuse of power charges each carry up to seven years in jail.

The authorities announced in July last year that Zhou was being investigated on suspicion of abuse of power and corruption.

Dozens of officials with connections to Zhou have been detained on suspicion of graft in the past two years. Many are linked to Zhou’s former power bases in the oil industry, domestic security and in Sichuan province. Both of Zhou’s sons have been detained by investigators.

Two dog thieves in China were tied up, beaten by the public and then left for 11 hours with dead dogs tied around them.

In an extreme case of vigilante justice the two men, caught stealing dogs from a Chinese village, were subjected to a brutal day-long beating.

The police were sent to rescue the thieves so actual justice could be served but the villagers began turning on officers and started to attack them with metal bars and smashed the patrol car.
The shocking incident started at around 7am in Shaping village in China when the thieves were caught red-handed with the dead animals they had killed for meat - a growing problem in China.

The mob soon gathered and took justice into their own hands before the police arrived in an attempt to show that mob justice is not acceptable.
When officers were about to take the two suspects back to the station, the villagers demanded around £100,000 compensation to release them.

Hours later, the mob started attacking the police and some villagers even lay under the police car so the dog thieves couldn't be taken away.

It wasn't until 6pm, some 11 hours later, that the situation was resolved when the Public Security Bureau arrived to calm everything down.

Officials say the police went about their work as they should have during the violence and some villagers will be arrested for obstructing police work and illegal imprisonment. The two dog thieves remain in police custody and are being investigated.

The organization also hopes to create jobs with its initiative.

About 3-4 out of every 10 patients reported with MERS have died.

Health officials first reported the disease in Saudi Arabia in September 2012. Through retrospective investigations, health officials later identified that the first known cases of MERS occurred in Jordan in April 2012. So far, all cases of MERS have been linked to countries in and near the Arabian Peninsula.

MERS-CoV has spread from ill people to others through close contact, such as caring for or living with an infected person. However, there is no evidence of sustained spreading in community settings.

MERS can affect anyone. MERS patients have ranged in age from younger than 1 to 99 years old.

CDC continues to closely monitor the MERS situation globally and work with partners to better understand the risks of this virus, including the source, how it spreads, and how infections might be prevented. South Africa did pay $10m (£6.5m) to a football body led by Jack Warner, a figure at the centre of Fifa corruption allegations, local media say.
Danny Jordaan, head of South Africa's FA, is quoted as confirming that the amount was deducted from a Fifa payment to the country in 2008.
A subsequent letter requested that money to be sent, instead, to the Caribbean Football Union, reports say.
South African officials deny it was a bribe to secure the 2010 World Cup.
But US prosecutors insist South Africa made an illegal payment after the government promised $10m to Mr Warner - then a Fifa vice-president - in exchange for the "Rainbow Nation" becoming the first African country to host the World Cup.
Fifa chose South Africa as host ahead of Morocco.

Danny Jordaan could not be reached for comment on Sunday, but he is quoted as insisting the money was paid to the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) in 2008 as South Africa's contribution towards their football development fund.
The BBC's Andrew Harding in Johannesburg says unnamed officials have confirmed that the payment was made to support football development among members of the African diaspora - something which does make sense in the political context of the time.
The latest reports come with Fifa - the governing body of world football - in crisis. Senior Fifa officials face a string of bribery charges.
Its head, Sepp Blatter has not been implicated but has faced calls to stand down. He was re-elected as Fifa president on Friday.

Several countries across the globe have started sharing information and signing treaties in different forms for mostly corrupt practices. In an effort to seriously fight crime in Nigeria, just like several other countries have been, I wish Nigeria would adopt a similar model in which criminals are published on government websites. I honestly wish for a system where when Mr. A steals a dime or indulge in any criminal activity irregardless of the shape, form or size, he or she must be published on a certain government website for the sake of transparency. Well, just my opinion!

Should a similar model or practice be carried out in NIGERIA? Please share lightly below and feed your eyes with the link below.

A former senior official described as China's most wanted fugitive, accused of embezzling more than $40m (£26m), is set to be extradited from the US.
Chinese state media said Yang Xiuzhu amassed a fortune overseeing construction projects as deputy mayor of Wenzhou in east China in the 1990s.
Ms Yang, 68, left China in 2003. She was detained in the US after entering with a fake Dutch passport last year.
She tops China's list of 100 suspects it wants to extradite.
Ms Yang went into hiding after being sought by anti-corruption investigators in China.

She is now in a detention facility in Hudson County, New Jersey, according to the US immigration agency.
Luis Martinez, a spokesman for the agency, said: "As a foreign law enforcement fugitive, Yang is an ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] priority."
In April, China published the names of 100 suspects in foreign countries wanted for economic crimes, with Ms Yang, on Interpol's website, topping the list.
It was part of Operation Sky Net, which targets officials accused of corruption and living abroad with the aim of confiscating misappropriated money and assets.
State media reported that earlier this month, the number two suspect, Li Huabo, was repatriated from Singapore after five years at large.
China's President Xi Jinping launched a crackdown on corruption when he took office in 2012.
China is pushing for talks with the US on an extradition treaty, which would boost prosecution efforts. It has said there are more than 150 economic fugitives in the US.

Li Jishun was sentenced to death after being found guilty of targeting "young and timid" girls aged between 4 and 11

A primary school teacher who raped and sexually abused 26 of his pupils has been executed in China.

Li Jishun targeted "young and timid" girls aged 4 to 11 while teaching at a village school in Gansu province between 2011 and 2012.

A statement by the Supreme People's Court (SPC) said Li raped 21 of his victims and sexually abused the other five in classrooms, dormitories, and the forest surrounding the village near Wushan town, reports the BBC.

Some of Lishun's victims were raped more than once, though the statement did not explain how he was caught.

He was sentenced to death after the Gansu court decided he was a "grave threat to society".

It said: "The Supreme People's Court thus believes that it was appropriate for Li Jishun to be executed."

The story made headlines in local media in the country and the decision to execute him received widespread support on social media.

Users of microblogging site Weibo said they were shocked for the young victims.

One wrote: "Four years old? I can't believe it."

Another said: "A death sentence is too good for this man."

The SPC says child sex abuse cases are on the rise in China, with over 7,000 cases reported in recent years.

With life ,I have hope that joy will come someday. Joy wouldn't feel so good if it wasn't for pain. If I can guarrantee 100percent that in my beloveth country,Nigeria I will wake up to see another day ,then my hope is alive. But in a setting that my Muslim and Christian brothers and sister die everyday for what they know nothing about, one day it will be my turn. Death is inevitable I agree but not in the hands of my leaders,but the hands of Allah/God. think wisely before casting your vote as I am not writing to influence you,but I know that life-a healthy one ,is my propriety.

Nigeria the place I call home, it's not safe for me to dwell in,so for me, I will seek security first . The ore sent president hasn't provided you and I one since he gained power. Remember the Boko Haram, bomb blast on National Day, Niger Delta kidnappings,so, if younlive in Nigeria while you have a president in power, I doubt if good luck is enough for Nigeria. I am praying for the best of luck for my beloveth country,Nigeria .

Muhammadu Buhari (born December 17, 1942) was the military ruler of Nigeria (December 31, 1983 - August 27, 1985) and an unsuccessful candidate for president in the April 19, 2003 presidential election. His ethnic background is Fulani and his faith is Islam; his family is from Katsina State.
Minister of Petroleum

Buhari first came to limelight in 1975 when He became the Minister (or "Federal Commissioner"wink for Petroleum and Natural Resources under then-Head of State General Olusegun Obasanjo. Before then he was the Governor of the newly created North Eastern State of Nigeria during the regime of Murtala Mohammed. He later became head of the newly created Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. in 1977
Chad


In 1983 Chadian soldiers invaded and took 19 islands in Lake Chad within Nigerian territory. The then Brigadier Buhari, who was the General Officer Commanding commanding the 3rd Armoured Division (which he did from November 1981 - December 1983) successfully carried out a blockade of Chad. After which all the territories were returned. The Nigerian Army under Buhari then pursued the Chadian Army as far as 50 km into Chadian territory. The 21st Armoured Brigade carried out the blockade and the fighting.
Buhari Administration

Major-General Buhari was selected to lead the country by middle and high-ranking military officers after a successful military coup d'etat that overthrew civilian President Shehu Shagari on December 31, 1983. Buhari was appointed Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Tunde Idiagbon was appointed Chief of General Staff (the de facto #2 in the administration). Buhari justified the military's seizure of power by castigating the civilian government as hopelessly corrupt, and his administration subsequently initiated a public campaign against indiscipline known as "War Against Indiscipline (WAI)." Despite authoritarian tendencies, the campaign is still lauded by many to have instilled the most orderly conduct of public and private affairs in Nigeria since its independence in 1960.

1985 Coup and Overthrow

Buhari was himself overthrown in a coup led by General Ibrahim Babangida on August 27, 1985 and other members of the ruling Supreme Military Council (SMC) ostensibly because he insisted on investigating allegations of fraudulent award of contracts in the Ministry of Defense .
If that investigation had been carried through, it is believed that many senior military officers would have been implicated. Buhari's insistence on this investigation was to become his fait accompli. A Palace Coup was planned and carried out by Gen Ibrahim Babangida and some senior military officers whose necks were heading for the chopping block following the conclusion of the investigation. Without a doubt, this would have become Buhari's and Idiagbon's most bitter and shocking lesson on how endemic and widespread corruption had become in Nigeria.
Later years

Buhari served as the Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, a body created by the Government of General Abacha, and funded from the revenue generated by the increase in price of petroleum products from , to pursue developmental projects around the country. His transparent and efficient handling of this agency endeared him to Nigerians.

In 2003, Buhari contested the Presidential election as the candidate of the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP). He was defeated by the People's Democratic Party nominee, President Olusẹgun Ọbasanjọ, by a margin of more than eleven million votes. It was claimed by Mr Buhari's supporters and other members of the opposition that out that in some states, like Ebonyi, there were more votes than there were actually registered voters Although some allegations of fraud were conclusively proven in the courts and the conduct of the election was criticized by the same Commonwealth body that criticized the recent Zimbabwean Elections - Commonwealth Observer Group, the consensus among Nigerians was that he should not waste his time in court as he did not have the necessary resources to "buy" himself justice. Eventually, the same court also decided that the level of proven electoral fraud was not sufficient to affect the outcome of the election and to warrant the cancellation of the whole Presidential election.

On 18 December 2006, Gen. Buhari was nominated as the consensus candidate of the All Nigeria People's Party. His main challenger in the April 2007 polls was the ruling PDP candidate, Umaru Yar'Adua, who also hails from the same home state - Katsina. In the election, Buhari officially took 18% of the vote against 70% for Yar'Adua, but Buhari rejected these results . After Yar'Adua took office, the ANPP agreed to join his government, but Buhari denounced this agreement .
