In the current Ebola epidemic, Liberia happens to be the hardest
hit West African nation. The leader of the nation is a Harvard-
educated long-time member of the western corporate
establishment, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who became president in
2005 after a Nigerian-led ECOWAS mission put an end to a spate
of civil wars.
The Sirleaf reign as president, as her stint in America’s big corp.
has been tainted with allegations of corruption and nepotism
and now with the Ebola epidemic. Her handling of the epidemic
in Liberia cannot be disconnected from her obligations as a
western puppet and her training in corruption. Perhaps it is not a
coincidence that Liberia is worst hit and that a colonial army has
urgently set foot in Sirleaf’s Liberia.
As soon as she assumed office, Sirleaf quickly signed 100 year,
binding deals with western governments depositing the nation’s
abundant resources in the hands of the colonialist, despite them
not playing a significant role in the stabilization of Liberia which
was achieved by an African indigenous Nigerian-led effort.
Last week the Liberian Senate debated and overwhelmingly
turned down a proposition by Sirleaf to restrict movement, "limit
the right to assembly for any reason", and peculiarly, to
appropriate property. Women Voices called it: "Tyrannical Times
or Ebola Preventive Measures." Some have discussed the spread
of Ebola in villages and farming communities more so than the
big cities and suggested that like the Boko Haram crises in
Nigeria’s northern farming communities and carbon credits
across Africa, that the Ebola crises which threatens to diminish
the population of locals by a least 55% is a weapon to possess
for big corp., viable farming land owned and “misused” by these
villagers for generations.

Today is my Convocation and celebration of my graduation from UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN....

An elite Patience Jonathan.... Dabbling into what does not concerns them

Form dey expensive and he no fit talk now, what of when he finally becomes President (in his dreams) and Boss Tinubu start asking for remittance from the national treasury? I'm a graduating student too. I lament for the Freshers this year as many of them will have to forfeit their admission this year due to inability to pay the over #90000 fee (acceptance fee and school fee inclusive) excluding hostel fee.

When I was admitted in 2010, we paid #36200 as school fee and no acceptance fee was charged back then.

Even though things have changed a bit >
Now you get a customised Unilorin Android tab with a Customised Unilorin Tshirt. Also, I'm being informed that there is the possibility of making internet available for all students which I assume is part of the charges.

Our Student Union, a very civil and gentle group of activitists has refused to make any efforts towards the reduction of the exorbitant fees and if they've made any efforts; we are yet to see the results.

The convocation fees on its own is still confusing as Alumni charges represent part of the 8000 naira and now we are still to pay for it separately.

God help us. Being No 1 Institution in Nigeria is not easy.

This year's convocation ceremony will be the 30th in the history
of our great institution University of Ilorin. The details of the
ceremony which will start on Monday, 20th October, 2014 and
end on Sunday, 26th October, 2014 with a thanksgiving
ceremony at the Unilorin Christian Union chapel aka Chapel of
the Light. The full details are as follows........
Monday, 20th October, 2014.
There shall be a Vice-Chancellor’s Press Briefing at the
University Auditorium by 10 am where the Vice Chancellor Prof.
Abdulganiyu Ambali shall brief the press on the highlights of the
year and also discuss some important issues concerning the
University of Ilorin and its community.
Then in the evening, there shall be a Convocation play titled The
Killers. I can assure you that it shall be very interesting. I will
upload shots from that of last year to convince you. The play will
start by 4:00pm and end before 6:00pm when a reshow for the
late comers shall be done. Endeavour to come early as the hall
is usually filled asap..... If you don't know the hall I'm talking
about here, it is the Performing Arts Department's Hall (PFA Hall)
. Come and see a showcase of Educated talent!

The professor is the President of International Association of
Universities and also a former Vice Chancellor of two Universities
in Malaysia.

Wednesday is the Convocation Proper for students graduating
after studying four year courses in the University.
CONVOCATION FOR THE AWARD OF PRIZES, FIRST DEGREES,
DIPLOMAS AND
CERTIFICATES FOR THE FACULTIES OF ARTS, EDUCATION, LAW,
MANAGEMENT SCIENCES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
The convocation ceremony shall be interesting as 48 first class
students will be convocating this year and the total number of
all graduating student is high this year> over 6000. Moreso, this
is a peculiar year in which our former Vice Chancellor; Prof Ishaq
Oloyede and our current Vice Chancellor; Prof. Abdulganiyu
Ambali were both recently given awards in recognition of their
excellence in service by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Also
if you have forgotten, Unilorin emerged just recently as the Best
University in Nigeria according to 4icu.org .
We surely have a lot to celebrate at this convocation ceremony.
The time is 10:00am prompt, but I will advise all graduating
students and their guest to be on their way by 7:00am latest as
the traffic will be heavy that day.... I will be convocating on
Wednesday too. You can come celebrate with me.

Now it is the turn of the seniors! Those who spent 5 years and
above and others who are not just first degree graduates but
already are furthering their certificates.

For Graduating guys and girls, The fee for convocation is stated
to be #8000 as seen on the school portal but there are still
speculations that it will be reduced as there is a mix up with the
Alumni fees. But you can go ahead and pay so as to avoid
lateness.
Also, The public (especially our students who are still in school)
should note that RICE AND STEW WITH PLENTY MEAT AND IYAN
shall be made available. You are cordially invited.

The authorities of the University of Ilorin ,have said that 48
graduates of the institution will bag First Class during this year’s
30th convocation ceremonies taking place between Monday,
October 20, and Thursday, October 23.
A statement signed by the institution’s Deputy Director,
Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, and made available to
journalists in Ilorin, on Sunday ,indicated that the 48 First Class
graduates of the institution are among the 5,421 graduates, who
will be receiving their first degrees in various disciplines at this
year’s convocation.
Akogun explained that a total of 1,190 are graduating with the
Second Class Upper degree; 2,814 graduates will be awarded the
Second Class Lower degree, while a total of 1,068 will bag the
Third Class degree and 84 will get the Pass grade.
“To convoke also are 18 Diploma graduates, 642 Masters degree,
106 Ph.D and 142 Postgraduate Diploma graduates.
“A further breakdown of the performance of the graduates shows
that 12 of the First Class graduates are from the Faculty of
Engineering; 11 are from the Faculty of Physical Sciences; nine
from the Faculty of Life Sciences; six from the Faculty of
Agriculture and five from the Faculty of Communication and
Information Sciences. The Faculty of Management Sciences
produced two First Class graduates this year, while the Faculties
of Arts, Basic Medical Sciences and Education ,produced one
First Class graduate each.
“The Faculty of Education is producing the highest number of
graduating students this year with a total of 1,640, followed by
the Faculty of Physical Sciences (694), Faculty of Arts (627),
Faculty of Life Sciences (491), Faculty of Social Sciences (431)
and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (299).
“Others are: the Faculty of Management Sciences (254), Faculty
of Communication and Information Sciences (238), the Faculty of
Agriculture (224), the Faculty of Clinical Sciences (217), the
Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (168), and the faculty of Law
(156).
“In the postgraduate category, the Faculty of Management
Sciences will issue 147 higher degrees, made up of 66
postgraduate Diplomas, 77 Masters degrees and four Ph.Ds. This
is followed by the Faculty of Physical Sciences with 145 higher
degrees, consisting 18 postgraduate Diplomas, 104 Masters
degrees and 23 Ph.Ds. The Faculty of Arts is issuing 122 higher
degrees, made up of 102 Masters degrees and 20 Ph.Ds while
the Faculty of Education will present 121 graduands for higher
degrees.
“Others are: the Faculty of Life Sciences, 89 higher degrees; the
Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, 70; the
Faculties of Agriculture and Law, 50 each; the Faculty of Social
Sciences, 42; the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, 31;
and the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, 23.
Meanwhile, activities marking the 30th convocation ceremonies
of the University of Ilorin will kick off on Friday ,with a special
Juma’at service at the University Central Mosque at 1.30a.m.
Releasing the programme of events at the weekend, the
Registrar, . Emmanuel Dada Obafemi, said that a Special Church
Service to commemorate the commencement of the 2013/2014
convocation ceremonies, would also hold on Sunday, October
19, at the Catholic Chaplaincy, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic
Church, University of Ilorin at 9.30a.m.
Other events for the ceremony, according to Obafemi, included
the Vice-Chancellor’s press briefing, which comes up on
Monday, October 20, 2014 at the University Main Auditorium by
10.00a.m. The convocation play, entitled “The Killers” (An anti-
violence play) and written by Dr. A. A. Adeoye, will be staged at
4.00p.m. and 6.00p.m. on the same Monday at the Performing
Arts Theatre.
The Convocation Lecture, entitled “Innovation: A Trans-
disciplinary Approach”, will be delivered on Tuesday, October
21, 2014 by Prof. Dzulkifli Abdul Rasak, the President,
International Association of Universities. The lecture takes place
at the University Main Auditorium at 10.00a.m.
Also on Tuesday, the Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, His
Royal Majesty, Dr. Benjamin Ikenchuku, the Dein of Agbor, will
host a cocktail in honour of the Convocation Lecturer at the
Chancellor’s Lodge by 6.00p.m.
On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, the main convocation for the
award of prizes, first degrees and diplomas for graduands from
the Faculties of Arts, Education, Law, Management Science and
Social Science will take place at the University Main Auditorium
at 10.00a.m. This will be followed, at 5.00p.m, by
commissioning of projects by the Visitor to the University,
President Goodluck Jonathan.
On Thursday, October 23, 2014, it will be the turn of graduands
from the Faculties of Agriculture, Engineering and Technology,
Basic Medical Science, Clinical Science, Communication and
Information Science, Life Science, Physical Science as well as
Postgraduate School to receive their prizes, degrees and
diplomas. This will be followed by the convocation luncheon
and merit awards at the Multi-purpose Hall, University of Ilorin
by 2.00p.m.
The ceremonies will be rounded off by a special Juma’at service
at the University Central Mosque on Friday, October 24, 2014 and
a Special Thanksgiving Service at the Chapel of Light, University
of Ilorin on Sunday, October 26, 2014.
