thesolutions: Focus on Odumegwu Ojukwu. I have tried to magnify his wealth so it won't look like he defrauded his people by collecting their money and gave them piece of paper because of poverty yet you are trying to be book clever by focusing more on how wealthy his father was. We have read all those and how his father provided the queen with carriage vehicle. So does that solve the issue that biafrans that converted their currency to the piece of paper Ojukwu issued was never refunded when the war was over. You are derailing the thread just to claim intelligence that might be questionable. You are confusing yourself by raising completely different issues and trying to merge them just to score cheap points.
First, during an active war, every breakaway state in history has issued its own currency as a measure of sovereignty. It didn’t start with Biafra......Biafra was blockaded and cut off from Nigeria’s financial system, it could not operate using federal currency. So issuing the Biafran pound was a wartime necessity. Economic activities had to continue.Second, the matter of post-war currency was not handled by Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu or by Biafra. After the war ended, the £20 policy was introduced by the federal government under Yakubu Gowon. It was a flat £20 compensation for all Easterners, regardless of how much money anyone had in the bank. That was how they stole all the money belonging to Eastern people in banks across Nigeria. If you truly care about how Igbos and other tribes in the Eastern Region lost their money then hold the government responsible and leave Ojukwu alone. If your grievance is about non-refund or unfair compensation direct it to the Nigerian state that designed and implemented that wicked, oppressive financial policy to impoverish Easterners.Third, Ojukwu did not take anyone’s money because the money belonging to Easterners was stored in Nigerian banks and later stolen by the government. Most people who fled government sanctioned massacres across Nigeria returned home empty-handed. Those who tried to return with any money were looted on their way back. So where exactly did they get the money you claim Ojukwu collected from them? |

thesolutions: At least you did not dispute the origin of the name Biafra. That is improvement. But Biafra has no meaning. That is why everyone will come with different interpretation. MASSOB under Ralph Uwazurike claimed Biafra is a distortion of B'Epharaim meaning for Ephraim. This is why they are claiming Israel ancestry. In every of the origin claims, there is a distortion which makes it a name without meaning.
Luis Ojukwu was claimed to be the richest man in Nigeria selling stock fish right? Funny. No one called Ojukwu poor anyways because he was brigadier general and head of eastern regional government. That should make him richer than his father by far don't you think. But does that dispute the fact that no one gets a refund of the money they exchanged for the Biafran currency. What did he do to help his people get the paper he issued them converted to Nigerian currency. Did he at least negotiate a value with the government so they can help those that has accumulated the currency over the 3 year war? Did he convert the money for them even if it is a a very low exchange rate?
Sometimes, intelligence is not in the answer but in the question. Pick up books and read, you won't die. Commenting on things you know nothing about makes you appear dumb to people.
How will Ojukwu be richer than his father when his father is a billionaire at that time.?

thesolutions: Oh shortgun! I heard he was refining and selling our petrol and crude oil when he took over port Harcourt. I guess your family received benefits from the proceeds of that that and other businesses. Did he also queue to collect 20 naira to start life afresh after the war or he used his Biafran currency to charter flights to ivory coast? Who made Biafra sovereign entity. Was there any UN resolution or AU resolution that recognized it as a sovereign entity and also recognize the currency Ojukwu printed? Can you exchange the currency at the border with any African currency at the border? So your claim of sovereign entity is false. Biafra was never derived from bight of Biafra. Bight of Biafra covers several countries and it will be rascality for Ojukwu to claim that name for his imaginary nation. Biafra, just as Nnamdi kanu has told you clouns came from the name of his village Afara in Umuahia where Ojukwu bunker is located. Biafra came from distortion of the Igbo phrase Bia Afara meaning come to Afara where he hid to build his fortress. If you don't believe this, then you should be cursing Nnamdi kanu for distorting the origin of the name. But what More can I say. You believe he is right in his actions. He is your hero or maybe you wish he is because of your pain that your politicians can not solve. I might think you are transferring aggression on the wrong people. This is exactly why responding to you guys will always make one less intelligent. You said in your other post that the name Biafra "has no identity or meaning in the igbo dialect". Then suddenly it has a meaning now ?
And what nonsense about “your oil” are you talking about? Even as of today, three Igbo states are oil-producing states out of the five states in the South-East. Ojukwu had every opportunity to accept international support in exchange for crude oil to win the war but he declined. This is one of the reasons he is held in high esteem. He said the war was not about crude oil.Go and read about Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, he is from a very wealthy family. As at the time of the war, his father Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu was the richest man in Nigeria. So stop typing nonsense about Ojukwu taking anything from anyone. He was a man of integrity who stood by his people when it mattered most. If the same conditions present themselves today and Ojukwu calls for war, we will gladly pick up arms. |

thesolutions: When I hear stories as this, I wonder the blindness that is affecting the Igbo race. There problem is right before their face. Ojukwu wouldn't relinquish power and declared Biafra republic. A name that has no identity or meaning in the igbo dialect. A name single handedly chosen by Ojukwu. Ojukwu collected their money and gave them small piece of paper convincing them that the worthless piece of paper is worth more than British pound Stirling. That is fraud 101. E even after the war, he did not at least lie to them that the almighty Biafra pounds has lost value and refund them some of the money he stole from them at a lower rate. He took everything and ran to ivory coast. And returned years later to continue enjoying his loot. No apology. No restitution. If not that Nigerian government pitied them and gave them 20 naira to start afresh they would have been history. We would have been history. No one is still asking the Ojukwu family how far about our money in their fathers possession. Rather they are still bragging how their imaginary currency is worth more than pound Stirling because a messiah currently in sokoto prison told them so and they believed. We are so deluded. You are very ignorant and swallow. The name Biafra was derived from the Bight of Biafra... a recognized geographical term long before the civil war. Nations are not required to bear names in a local dialect to have legitimacy. Many countries across the world have names that predate their modern ethnic compositions.
You are the deluded one if you think during wartime a sovereign entity should not issues its own currency. It's idiotic for a government fighting for survival continue to rely on the currency of it's enemies. Every decision His Excellency General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu took was very perfect in every since. This is why he remains our hero till infinity. You can go and die |

They'll claim Sharia is only for Muslims yet they killed Deborah a Christian girl over blasphemy, then publicly burnt her remains and celebrated all over the city of Sokoto. To add salt to injury, 34 Muslim lawyers offered to defend her killers in court for free, including a professor.

The Constitution is explicit that Nigeria is secular. therefore, no state has the legal right to entrench or enforce a state religion the way Zamfara and some northern states have done.
Anyone who wants to practice Sharia should relocate to Afghanistan. There's no state in the north without significant Christian communities. What the jihadists do is to sack the Christian communities, rape their women and kill their men because Sharia protects them |

TimeManager: Basic macroeconomics, CBN is duty bound to mop up excess liquidity in the system to avoid driving up inflation in the long term. Whenever there's too much local or foreign currency in the hands of people beyond regulatory requirements, the CBN steps in. Failure to do that in the past led us to where we were a few years ago. If CBN had looked away, the dollar would fall for the first few weeks and then start rising because people would have horded it and look to sell at higher rate when scarcity hits the market thereby leading to market instability. The best bet is to allow the right amount of money within the system at a particular time inorder to ensure stability and stronger local currency.
