Yujin:Exactly. You are so on point. Those who claim Igbos are only in the 5 South-East states are either ignorant or deliberately pushing a mischievous agenda. The truth is clear, there are indigenous Igbos in Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Benue, and Kogi. Indiginous Igbos are not only found in Nigeria, Igbos are also found in Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Denial doesn’t change reality, it only exposes their ignorance and dishonesty. |
Ezeama400:How is he an attachee? Ned Nwoko is an Igbo man from Delta State. He has never for once denied his Igbo heritage. |
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has called on Igbos in the Southeast to embrace their kinsmen residing in other parts of the country, as part of efforts to strengthen the unity of Ndigbo.https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/09/ned-nwoko-calls-for-igbo-unity-beyond-southeast/

Whatever you both are cooking, count me in. Nigeria must be rescued |
Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan. We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation. -PO https://x.com/PeterObi/status/1966201000630301126?t=UEYgWmZuTN7pHlZAbDpxEg&s=19

Christistruth00:Oga, this is simply a real estate project. The housing units he plans to build will each be branded as a “palace.” Developers often give their estates prestigious names to attract clients and boost sales. That’s why you find estates called Monarch Court, Royal Estate, His Majesty Estate, Prince & Princess Estate, Royal Park, Kings Court, and even ones with Palace in their names like Edge Palace Estate, Palace Estate and Golden Palace Estate. I also can't wait for police to take them to court and embarrass themselves before a judge. Meanwhile, your brothers are kings all over south east and no government is harassing them.

Don't let the lying pretentious nature of Nigerian girls fool you. Maybe na garri sef she soak before saying that nonsense |

Ttalk:Like seriously? You are equating a house building project with bombs? The problem is deeper than I thought. |
Since taking office in May 2023, Tinubu has made about 40 international international trips, some of which are believed to be for medical reasons. President Bola Tinubu has reportedly continued his smoking habit, despite repeated efforts by those around him to persuade him to quit, SaharaReporters has learned. Sources close to the President said that Tinubu remains committed to smoking and has resisted attempts by aides and associates to help him give up the habit. The sources noted that, while concern has been raised over the health implications, the President has so far refused to change his behavior. “Tinubu’s smoking addiction is an issue. The President is still smoking, and despite efforts to get him to stop, he has refused,” one of the sources said. SaharaReporters learnt that the President’s handlers, concerned about the issue, believe that as a national leader, Tinubu’s personal health choices are matters of public interest. Tinubu’s frequent international travel has sparked persistent speculation about his health, especially given the number of trips to Europe, especially France and the UK. While many of these visits are officially described as “working trips” or “diplomatic engagements,” SaharaReporters has reported that some may have included medical consultations. The Presidency has occasionally issued reassurances, stating that the President is “fit and capable,” but these statements have not fully quelled public concern. In June, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaye, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had undertaken 36 foreign trips since assuming office. Providing a mid-term review of the administration’s foreign policy record, Enikanolaye noted that the trips, which began after Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, 2023, spanned Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. According to him, the President’s destinations included Benin Republic, Chad, Ghana, Senegal, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Tanzania, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, the Vatican, the United States, Brazil, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, India, and China. https://saharareporters.com/2025/09/11/tinubu-refuses-quit-smoking-habit-despite-intervention-attempts-close-allies-sources-say

alanto:Yes, you have the mind of a toddler if you believe that an Educated Civil Engineer who's into real estate is holding an event to unveil a palace to rule over you in Lagos state with the title of Obi of Lagos. |
alanto:Is it that difficult for you people to understand basic words in English language? Is prototype Palace the same as a Palace. I've explained the difference over and over again on this thread. You are still saying he's building a palace. |
Softmirror:God why me? 😭😭😭😭😭😭 |
Softmirror:What office of authority does "Obi of Lagos" occupy in Lagos state. Or is there any title of Obi of Lagos in Lagos state? Who is he impersonating? Obi of Lagos is just the name his friends and business associates know him with. It's just a nickname like "Edu brazil" Ifeanyi Malaysia " chukwudi South , "Ebuka Cyprus" and many more |
Softmirror:Where did you see that the engineer is building a palace. The invite said "prototype palace"...this simply means he intend to build many buildings and name them "palace". The event was to showcase one of such buildings!!!! Seriously, situations like these make me feel ashamed to be called a Nigerian sometimes. You'll have to explain basic simple things to adults over and over again. |
Hampers001:You are not Igbo. Every Igbo man is permitted to do new yam feast in his house and invite friends and family...this is nothing but a business strategy to attract Igbo investors to his real estate business. |
Factcheck0001:Every part of Nigeria and all the resources in Nigeria belong to all Nigerians. It's illegal to deny any Nigerian that right in any part of Nigeria. |
Softmirror:Every business has rivals and competitors. Healthy competition is expected but using the police to harass other businesses to gain advantage is illegal |
Softmirror:Rumor has it that the police acted on orders of the promoters business rival. The promoter is a certified Engineer, he's educated enough not to publicly promote illegality. |
The recent arrest of Engr. Chibuke Azubike and others in connection with the so-called “installation of the Obi of Lagos” has stirred controversy across Nigeria. While police authorities have claimed the organizers were attempting to install an unrecognized traditional ruler, a closer look at the facts especially the official invitation suggests that the police acted in error. What was branded as a criminal attempt at impersonation was, in reality a business event centered on real estate development. The widely circulated invitation card for the September 13th event bore a Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration number (RC: 11,534) — an unmistakable indicator that the promoters were registered as a business entity. No traditional chieftaincy installation in Nigeria is conducted under a CAC business registration. This already distinguishes the event as corporate, not traditional. The invitation also explicitly described the program as “The Unveiling of the Prototype of a ₦1.5 Billion Palace.” The key word here is prototype — a technical business and architectural term, referring to a design model for real estate projects. It is standard practice in property development to unveil prototypes to attract investors and showcase planned facilities....prototype in simple terms means a sample. Far from being a purely cultural or traditional agenda, the project as listed in the invitation included: An Office Complex An Event Center A Guest House for Igbos in Distress A Shopping Plaza These are clearly commercial facilities forming part of a real estate project. They bear no resemblance to the paraphernalia of a traditional stool. Critics have pointed to the use of the title “Obi of Lagos State” and the reference to “Ofala Festival” as proof of an attempted installation. However, such phrasing can reasonably be interpreted as cultural branding, not a legal or political claim. In Nigeria, it is common for individuals and organizations to adopt nicknames, cultural identities and festival themes as part of business promotions. From “King of Boys” in the entertainment industry to “Argungu Festival” branding in Kebbi, culture and commerce often intersect without implying impersonation or usurpation of authority. It is important to distinguish between impersonation, which involves deliberate deception for unlawful gain and self-acclamation, which is an expression of identity. The invitation never claimed official recognition from Lagos State’s traditional council. Instead, it framed a business prototype launch using cultural expression as a promotional hook. By storming the venue, sealing it off, and arresting the organizers, the police may have acted prematurely and without sufficient evidence of criminal intent. If there were concerns about the use of the title “Obi of Lagos,” the appropriate step would have been a civil petition or injunction, not a heavy-handed crackdown that undermines both business and cultural freedoms. Nigeria cannot afford to criminalize entrepreneurship and innovation especially in a struggling economy. If every business that incorporates cultural themes into its branding is treated as criminal, it sets a dangerous precedent. What the “Obi of Lagos” saga demonstrates is not a crime of impersonation but rather the dangers of misinterpretation and overreach. The event was by the evidence of its own invitation, a business prototype unveiling with cultural flavoring. The police would do well to distinguish between genuine threats to public order and the lawful exercise of business and cultural expression. Anything less risks eroding public trust and discouraging investment in Nigeria’s business landscape.

Godfullsam:Stop confusing yourself, there’s a clear difference between impersonation and self-acclamation. There is nothing wrong with someone calling themselves whatever they like or naming there house whatever they choose. People have named there houses castles, palace, villa, white house ..e.t.c; Self-claiming means giving yourself a title, name, or status without any official recognition...it's not a crime!!! The real problem is that many of you have been so conditioned by oppression that you now mistake self-expression for a crime. Freedom of expression means you can claim to be whatever you want. People have claimed that they are Jesus Christ and the heavens didn’t fall. The Police should also start arresting comedians who mimic Tinubu, dress like him, move around with convoys and even call themselves Mr. President. This is absolutely disgraceful What the police did is shameful. |
This is pure nonsense. I expect those police officers who carried out the arrest to be held accountable . What exactly is the crime here? This Tinubu’s presidency, has reduced every arm of government to a joke. People all over the world use nicknames and aliases. I have a friend we all call Sultan, does that make him the Sultan of Sokoto? when will they the arrest of the King of Lagos, Duke of Lagos and the Mayor of Lagos? |
WesleyPepper:Personal Income Tax is administered by State Boards . in reality companies frequently centralize payroll at HQ in lagos or designate staff contractually as Lagos-based or run payroll from Lagos. When that happens, Lagos IRS ends up receiving PAYE for those employees especially for high-paid HQ executives. That's is the practical point the governor is making |
sreamsense:This is not correct. Security is important, yes, but it’s not an excuse for systemic exploitation. The fact remains that oil is drilled in Imo, yet most of the economic benefits flow to Lagos simply because companies choose to register and base their HQs there. Even if IPOB/ESN were an issue, that doesn’t justify letting billions in state-level tax revenue escape. It’s the duty of the federal governments to guarantee security for strategic industries and oil companies themselves have operated in far riskier environments elsewhere in Nigeria when it suited their profit. The governor is only stating a fair economic principle .... if you exploit our land, you should contribute to our local economy not take it elsewhere. |
aribisala0:Under the Personal Income Tax Act, PAYE is paid to the state where the employee works, not where they live. If an engineer lives in Imo or works in Imo but was officially employed and paid under a Lagos-based contract, Lagos collects the PAYE not Imo. Almost all their staff are employed in Lagos. This is a major loss for the host state. the HQ location is a strategic tax advantage. Lagos knows this. That’s why the governor of Imo is right to push for relocation so host states can retain both the environmental costs and the fiscal benefits of resource extraction. we're talking about state revenue streams here and Lagos benefits from these because it hosts the HQ while Imo bears the environmental and social costs of extraction without getting equivalent local tax returns. This should not be...this is exactly the position of the governor |
aribisala0:Let me educate you. For an oil company operating in Imo but has it's headquarters in Lagos state. It pays the following taxes to Lagos State. 1. Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) Income Tax Collected by Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) Paid by Employees via deductions from their salaries. 2. Business Premises Levy Collected by Lagos State Government Annual levy on business premises is based on size/location of the office.... 3.Land Use Charge Collected by Lagos State Government Property tax on the building used as the HQ. 4.Signage and Advertisement Fees Collected by Lagos State Signage & Advertisement Agency (LASAA) Company signboards, billboards, and promotional materials in Lagos. I can go on and on..... |
MyExpression: ![]() The governor said there are 7 oil companies operating in Imo state and you are here asking about scale. |
9japride:It's a good thing the governor is waking up to his responsibilities. He should even take it further by requesting for refund for all the monies. |
Ttalk:whatever type of tax they are paying in Lagos should be going to Imo state where they are operating. |
In this video, The Imo State governor has condemned the practice where all seven oil companies operating in the state remit their taxes to Lagos State and keep their headquarters there, diverting revenue that rightfully belongs to Imo to Lagos. Excerpts: "We have seven oil producing companies and none has an office in Imo state. The Imo State government has no access to their nominal roll to even collect pay as you earn tax. Everything is about waiting for monthly allocation. I've now said no, it must change. I had a meeting with all the oil producing companies and I said you must have your address here. Including those that are partly owned by the Imo state government, yet they have no business outfit anywhere in this state. They are all operating from Lagos, I said no"—Gov.
