Not at all!

Just making a point about leadership in Nigeria, the tendency to serve themselves and not the people. It just goes to show that OBJ
was not thinking Nigeria rather what is best for him.
PoliticsRe: Do Not only Blame Yaradua, Obasanjo still remains the root of the problem by shuboy: 6:25pm On Nov 28, 2009
OBJ is only part of the problem. He is not the root cause of our problems. Where will you place the likes of Abacha, IBB, Buhari and co?
I remember how bad corruption was during the IBB, Abacha era. No press freedom (remember Dele Giwa), Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP)?
OBJ's ego is bigger than the whole country and cannot be accused (even if you try). It is a shame that that in a country of over 100m people we have
not really produced or elected a competent leader.

Despite the poor calibre of our current and past leaders (most of them forced upon us), I think the main problem is with the 'Nigerian Mentality'
when we are in a position of power. We are very good at exploiting each other rather than exploiting what we have. I often wonder what the people
who complain about how bad things are in Nigeria will do if they find themselves in the position of power. I am sure that if most Nigerians find that
their brother/sister has been elected Governor/Local Government Chairman etc for most it will feel like winning the lottery.

Finally, our leaders at any level of government are not aliens, they are just Nigerians like each and every one of us. They are simply a reflection of our
society.
Music/RadioRe: Let's Talk Jazz by shuboy: 11:20pm On Jul 08, 2008
ailhjb,

Thank you my brother!

There is a difference between Easy listening and pure jazz. Lets not call any musicians that play with instruments jazz artists.

If you love your jazz with some edge check out - Bheki Mseleku, Joshua Redman, Christan McBride, Pat Matheny etc

For Fussion - Norman Brown, Joe Sample, Boney James, Marion Meadows etc
RomanceRe: Why Cant Guys Be Faithful by shuboy: 6:56pm On Jul 01, 2008
@amyg

Am i missing something here? The boyfriend was not forcing her Cousin. If the Cousin had refused to sleep with the guy we won't be having this discussion. There are decent guys and girls out there but ladies should remember you hold the power - just say NO! Unfortunately girls like her first cousin give the good girls out there a bad rep.
PropertiesRe: Why Pay House Rent In Advance? by shuboy: 3:20pm On Jun 10, 2008
I agree it does not make any sense paying rent in advance in Nigeria, but looking at it on from the Landlords perspective it would be difficult for the landlord collecting his rent monthly and on time. The fact is there are lots of people who don't get paid on time or somethings are owed salaries for months. Imagine all the excuses.

SportsRe: Official: Zambrotta Signs For Ac Milla by shuboy: 1:42pm On Jun 03, 2008
Zambrotta is a good player! I think he would do well in Milan. I like the fact that he can play on the right or left. My only concern is that he is over 30. Milan needs younger players. The whole Barclelona team under performed last season. At the begining of last season who would have taught that a strike force comprising of Eto, Henry, Ronaldinho, Messi would have had such a lacklusture season. Zambrotta is certainly better than the likes of Favalli, kaladze and Oddo.

The property i am interested in is a 4 bedroom bungalow. It appears the owners are not really sure on the price yet. I just want to make sure that i am not ripped off.
SportsMikel's Move To Chelsea - Good For Nigeria Or The Player? by shuboy(op): 9:20pm On May 19, 2008
Before I give my opinion I would like to state that i am in no way a Man Utd fan nor am i having a go at Chelsea  FC. My opinion is strictly  from the development of the player and the Super Eagles.

I think Mikel would have flourished more at Man Utd. At the time Utd tried to sign him they were lacking a good or creative midfielder. This was when the Keane/Scholes partnership was coming to an end and also before the arrival of Carrick, Hargreaves and co. At Chelsea he plays a more defensive role, which is probably not what we need in the Super Eagles right now. I think what we lacked in the last African Cup of Nations is a player who is creative and can control the tempo of a match. In Chelsea he is only used for the defensive part of his game probably because of the players in their squad - good for Chelsea but necessary for the Super Eagles and Mikel (ultimately).

At Man utd, the midfielders are allowed to moto forward. In my opinion Mikel can be equally good attacking as he is defensively (al Viera, Scholes). In terms of development i think he is now falling short when compared to the likes of Messi. Nigeria desperately needs creative players to replace the likes of Kanu and Okocha. The likes of Ethuhu, Olofinjana can do all the mopping up in the Midfield.

SportsRe: Feed The Yak And He Will Score by shuboy: 10:33am On Mar 03, 2008
Yakubu is a good goal scorer. His game is more suited to the premiership and so will always score goals in England. The problem for Nigeria is that we play slightly different than the premiership teams. Watching the African Cup of Nations, it is clear that he is not the answer to Nigeria's scoring problems. I think his movement, predatory skills are lacking particularly against other African defenders.
SportsRe: Berti Vogts Has Been Sacked By NFA by shuboy: 4:29pm On Feb 06, 2008
Is this good news? I am not really sure. I was hoping Berti Vogts will be the manager for some time. I believe what we really need is continuity. I do agree that Vogts is technically lacking and very indecisive particularly after we were playing against 10 men. My worry is that the next coach will be of the same calibre and so we are back to square one. Managing the Nigerian team is no more seen as a high profile job because of the baggage that comes along with the job. I'll wait first to see we the next manager is before i celebrate, or weep.
