Like I said no one cares about the numbers but the performance. Its not about having 100m students the question is how many in the 100m were able to score above credit (i.e their performance)

PureFace1:Lagos alone has a population of about 23 million (Wikipedia) So why won't South West have the highest number of students that sat and highest number that passed? ![]() Who cares about numbers/population? The end result isn't it their performance percentage?

Space researchers want to send a coded message to aliens, including illustrations of nude humans. The proposal, "A Beacon in the Galaxy" (BITG), was presented by 11 researchers from a range of institutions, including NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. It was published this week in Arxiv, an open-access repository of scientific papers. It calls for a binary-coded message "developed for transmission to extraterrestrial intelligences in the Milky Way galaxy," and will include scientific concepts including the human form, according to the proposal. It will build on previous messages sent to space, principally the Arecibo message, an interstellar radio message sent to globular star cluster M13 in 1974, the researchers said. NASA has previously sent aspects of humanity to space. The 2021 Lucy Mission included a poem by inaugural National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman, lyrics and quotes from the Beatles and a fossil belonging to the ancient human ancestor that gave the mission its name. Voyager 1 and 2 took with them golden phonograph records with images and sounds meant to reflect human culture. The BITG proposal plans to leave out human culture and language entirely, focusing on concepts that may be be more legible to extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI): mathematics and physics. "Though the concept of mathematics in human terms is potentially unrecognizable to ETI, binary is likely universal across all intelligence," the researchers said. Therefore, the message was coded in the binary language of zeroes and ones used in computing systems. The message includes a time stamp, location stamp, visual representations of the DNA double-helix structure and a hydrogen atom, visual explanations of algebra and other mathematical operations, an illustration of the solar system, a map of the earth, and, of course, a smiling illustration of two human bodies, one male and one female. The pair are waving at the viewer. "This information is part of the basic expectation of any message to an ETI as it allows recognition of our appearance -- a detail of a given ETI that would no doubt be of interest to us, and relevant should further exchanges be established, or we someday physically meet," the scientists said. In other words, aliens might be eager to see what humans look like, just as we would be curious to see if they match the green, bug-eyed extraterrestrials of science fiction fame. The messages close with an invitation for extraterrestrials to respond using a radio telescope apparatus of their own. The report proposes using the FAST Observable Field, the largest radio telescope in the world, located in Pingtang, Guizhoou, China, to send the message. "The message is simple but meaningful," the researchers said, with the ultimate goal to "start a dialogue with ETI -- no matter how far in the future that might occur." The project was created with support from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, under contract with NASA, and the NASA ROSES Exoplanet Research Program. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/05/07/world/space-message-nude-illustrations-scn-trnd/index.html Lalasticlala

President Vladimir Putin on Thursday warned “unfriendly” countries, including all EU members, that they would be cut off from Russian gas unless they opened an account in rubles to pay for deliveries. Western countries have piled crippling sanctions on Moscow since it moved troops into Ukraine, including the freezing of its $300 billion of foreign currency reserves. While the United States banned the import of Russian oil and gas, the European Union — which received around 40 percent of its gas supplies from Russia in 2021 — has retained deliveries from Moscow. “They must open ruble accounts in Russian banks. It is from these accounts that payments will be made for gas delivered starting tomorrow, April 1,” Putin said during a televised government meeting. He announced that he signed a decree that outlines the “clear and transparent” process. “If such payments are not made, we will consider this a breach of obligations on the part of our buyers with all the ensuing consequences,” Putin said. “Nobody sells us anything for free and we are not going to do charity work. That means existing contracts being stopped” if payments are not made, he added. According to the decree, all payments will be handled by Russia’s Gazprombank, a subsidiary of state energy giant Gazprom. Buyers will transfer payments into a Gazprombank account in foreign currency, which the bank will then convert into rubles and transfer into the buyer’s ruble account. No change to Contracts Earlier, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the new payment method would not affect the price of deliveries stipulated in the contracts. “Those who receive Russian gas… they just acquire rubles for the amount in currency which is stipulated in the gas contract,” Peskov told reporters. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Thursday Western countries would continue paying for Russian gas in euros or dollars. “We looked at the contracts for the gas deliveries,” Scholz told reporters in Berlin. “They say that payments are made in euros, sometimes in dollars… and I made clear in my conversation with the Russian president that that will remain the case,” referring to a telephone call with Putin on Wednesday. On a visit to Berlin, French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire said Paris and Berlin were “preparing” for the possibility “there is no longer any Russian gas”. Western capital imposed harsh economic sanctions since the start of Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine on February 24, accelerating already high inflation and hitting the ruble. The EU refrained from an energy embargo against Russia. However, the bloc has announced it plans to slash imports of Russian gas by two thirds this year. While payments for gas in rubles will allow Russia to support its national currency, it will also deprive Moscow of a source of foreign currency. The Kremlin has also hinted that it may be seeking payments in rubles for other exports too. Russia has already obliged its exporters, including Gazprom, to convert 80 percent of their revenue into rubles. According to Russia’s Central Bank, its reserves — including the frozen $300 billion — decreased between February 18 and March 25 from $643.2 to $604.4 billion. After the introduction of sanctions, Russia expanded the list of what it calls “unfriendly” countries that now includes the United States, Australia, Canada, Britain, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, all EU member states and several others. https://www.channelstv.com/2022/03/31/putin-warns-eu-nations-need-ruble-accounts-to-get-gas/ Lalasticlala
