Madonna University Expels Nursing Students Over Viral Video mocking patients

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to Madonna University Nigeria to reconsider the expulsion of some nursing students over a viral video recorded during their hospital posting.

The students reportedly faced disciplinary action after the video, in which they joked about their presence in hospitals, surfaced online and gained widespread attention.

In the video, the students were heard saying, “No sick o, na Gen Z full hospital,” while the accompanying caption read, “No sick oo, nah Gen Z full hospital.”

NANS acknowledged that the students’ conduct was inappropriate and constituted misconduct but appealed to the university to replace the expulsion with a stern warning and other disciplinary measures.

The students, who are undergoing nursing training involving clinical postings and hospital-based learning, were urged to be given an opportunity to continue their education under strict conditions.

NANS appealed to the university management to show clemency, arguing that the punishment should be corrective rather than one that permanently disrupts the students’ academic and professional careers.

The university has yet to publicly state whether it will review the expulsion or grant the students’ appeal.

Did you come across students like this in your Secondary School?

I met Senior Students who looked like this in a Boarding School I attended. Proper matured men who could've easily had wives at home, without our knowledge.

I'm talking about old boys who had forests on their chests with a lot of veins mapping up their heads, hands and legs. Seeing the calves of their legs, you could've concluded they did BBL.
We just had a lot of men as our Seniors then. We had huge Seniors whose breaths and coughs alone sent cold chills down our spines.

The Seniors we have today in Secondary Schools are just funny boys with their bossy attitudes and prides. What you see today are just tall babies who grew up in wealthy homes with a lot of Indomie, milk and eggs.

What about you? Did you meet Giants in your own School back then?

I was in FUTO during the incident, and I have heard different versions of the story, from the person who stabbed being an Hausa bikeman,
to the killed student being a 400 level student, who is also part of the man o war paramilitary group.
And now this.


I witnessed police men throwing teargas at students, around the girls hostel yesterday night, this led to a lot of chaos. In fact the most of last night was chaotic in FUTO.

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a 300-level student of Imo State University, IMSU, Owerri, named Francis Marvellous, 21yrs, for allegedly stabbing to death Chinagorom Marvellous Kingsley ‘m’, 22yrs, who is a final year student of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO.

Parading the suspect at the police headquarters in Owerri on Friday, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, said the arrest was sequel to a swift response to a distress call received from the Chief Security Officer, CSO, of FUTO, retired DSP Patrick Egwu, by police operatives on convoy patrol who promptly arrested the suspect who was almost lynched at the scene by an angry mob.

The CP said,” The body of the victim was recovered and rushed to Federal Medical Center, Owerri where he was confirmed dead and deposited at the mortuary.

“On interrogation the suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that he had a heated argument with personnel of the University’s Man O’ War Unit on 29/03/2024 at about 2200hrs during which he brought out a knife he neatly concealed in his trousers and stabbed the victim to death. He mentioned three others who were with him during the fight. They include his brother Francis Promise, Prince and a man popularly known as Soji.

“Efforts are on top gear to arrest the suspects at large and ascertain their involvement in the case. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of a comprehensive investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID.

“The Command, therefore, is using this medium to dispel the false narratives making the rounds on social media that the victim was stabbed to death by Hausa Fulani/Northern, warning that the misinformation is the handiwork of mischief makers who want to provoke unnecessary intertribal conflict between the good people of Imo State and the Northerners residing in the State.

“The Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to take charge of the case and ensure that the suspects involved in this case and purveyors of fake news are arrested made to face the full wrath of the law.

“Meanwhile, an eyewitness told our correspondent that another student whose identity was yet to be ascertained died in the incident.

“Policemen came and were throwing teargas canisters and students started running and jumping down from their hostels. Unfortunately an asthmatic student died. Another student broke her hand leg and was rushed to Federal Medical Centre in Owerri. Others also sustained injuries, ” he said.
