Alex isn't ya typical dropout - he already had a company with employees and turnover running into thousands of pounds from ringtones before he got into Uni (he grew up in North London - not naij). So, there's no point going to Uni, when you can easily consolidate on that and move ya company into millions. Uni graduates with ordinary degrees don't even earn more than £35,000 max (that figure is a generous one cos I just posted those in the minority who're lucky to get graduate jobs, most Uni graduates with no professional qualification don't earn more than £27,000). Going to Uni and wasting a company that was growing exponentially would have been a waste of time and an utter useless decision on his path, when he can always go back and earn the same degree in future. It's basically like choosing between going pro as a lottery pick in the NBA to make tens of millions of dollars and staying in college.

Regards, the guy is a GREAT business mind and I admire the guy a lot. He's a great role model, based on his business mind.

You're right to an extent. However, I'd say the electricity problem falls under corruption and mismanagement and the big element in the room most folks don't like hearing about is the structure of the country and amalgamation of diverse people, with different interests.

Once you solve the structural problem - 40% of naij's problems would be solved. Then competition would drive other things. No country is free from corruption and mismanagement (no country on the planet). The advanced ones just operate within structures that don't really expose these fundamental problems. Everyone knows the US is arguably the most corrupt in the world (Trump and Hilary exposed the US a lot) and the UK is up there as well (during the London Olympics you need to see the millions of pounds MP awarded to one another for useless projects. Ditto all the corrupt practices that go on in the City of London and Canary Wharf). However, due to the structures of both countries, they still get things done.

Anyway, before I go into hibernation, I'd say, in defense of Tinubu, he didn't sell anyone in political slavery. He just overplayed his card and got outsmarted by a man/region that saw the card he was going to play. And proactively countered it in an effective way, before the smoke cleared. Albeit with the aid of fifth columnists based on the principle that, "every man has a price".

This is realpolitik and power game. All you can do is count ya losses and go back to the drawing board, for a fresh start. You can't dwell on it too tough, by fighting a lost battle. Once you start doing that - you're showing a lot of weakness. Heck, they lost time ago.

To those looking for factories and other things, Lagos shouldn't be the place for that. London has Canary Wharf. New York has Manhattan. UAE has Dubai. So, this is absolutely a wonderful initiative and if well executed, with a proper financial district in mind - it could end up becoming the financial centre of Africa. And that right there is much more valuable than oil.

Salute to the fact that they're slowly but surely executing. Hopefully, the end game would follow the same path.
