Politics / Re: Nigeria Poor? Unable 2 Pay Subsidies? But Rich Enough 2 Pay Politicians Billions by Sibrah: 3:54am On Feb 15
Ttalk:

The crux of the matter is that our leaders should live by example.

There are way fuel subsidies can be structured so that they will still have a meaningful impact.

What about subsidizing fuel for tractors?
What about subsidizing school buses?
What about subsidizing trailers? carry agricultural products?
What about subsidizing fuel in rural communities to reduce rural-urban migration and promote farming?

If the government can devise means of collecting tax and limiting tax evasion, they should equally devise means of making subsidies reach the targeted people.

Don't defend the government that allocating billions for themselves but claiming Nigeria is poor
Thank you for pointing this out. Leadership is an example thing and not a dictatorial thing. Our public servants can't differentiate between kings appointed by spiritual forces and public servants appointed to serve because of capacity or skill and ability to get things done.

Politics / Re: Suggestion For Food Scarcity And Food Reserve Strategy by Sibrah: 2:51am On Feb 15
Redoil:
there is nothing like National grain reserve.
the last time the national grain reserve existed was durring buhari first year year in office which was filled by Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina which worn him the prestigeous UN award for food. Hence he was made The chairman of African Development Bank
It exists but has been largely empty in most states.

State governors should be tasked with filling them up at minimum. This should be one of the tasks of governors.

Politics / Recession Or Debts, Which Is More Manageable And Preferable To Bare? by Sibrah: 5:11pm On Oct 13, 2021
We have borrowed and spent our way out of recession and I was wondering if trading recession for debt was the right call.

Recession as I know it is negative growth and is bound to go away with hardwork and some market luck, but debt is not just implicative of deficit, it comes with interest which has to be paid with a more severe form of hard work than for recession recovery.

Was it worth it trading off recession for debts?

Politics / Re: What Osinbajo’s Call For Naira Devaluation Could Mean For The Future by Sibrah: 11:45am On Oct 12, 2021
Osinbajo is right but economics goes beyond few maneuvers. If allowed to devalue, it will settle somewhere between 410 and 570 but quickly jump back to towards and even beyond 570 all because the system is set up for destruction.

I support the intervention of CBN in ministry matter because if monies for these interventions are handed over to the appropriate ministries, they will loot it and make CBN look incompetent. Just look at how people are blaming CBN gov and CBN.

More reckless spending in thier attempt at stimulating the economy further out of recession. The thing is we are sliding deeper and deeper into debt with this approach of paying people without productivity in view.

Politics / Re: NUPENG: Petroleum Tanker Drivers Suspend Tomorrow's Strike by Sibrah: 5:59pm On Oct 10, 2021
This is a strong pointer that if the govt want to achieve a thing, hardly can that govt be stopped. Since 2015 there has been no queues in filling stations because Buhari wants that as a clean slate into his record. Not naira devaluation or lack of functioning refineries could derail that target.
If he truly wants to end insecurity, one week is too much for him to end it forever.
