If you are planning to come/go back to medicine after studying a first degree then you must mind the kind of people you discuss this decision with. Some persons will make you appear stupid with some unguided statements. Some will tell you stuffs that will make it appear that all you want is just to be called 'Doc.'. Some will make you feel you just wasted time and resources studying your first degree. Always avoid such people by all means. You will know them from their previous disposition or from what they say the first time they hear about this decision of yours. From then on, do everything within your means to make sure your paths don't cross again until you are done with your studies or well into it. Especially if you know you can't handle such 'poisonous' words. This might even require you cutting off some friendships. Words are powerful and they carry spirits. (But if actually you are coming into medicine because of the money or the status attached to it, think again. Nothing should be done because of money, even if it's packing dirts off the streets. Find dignifying reasons to attach to your pursuits!) Nonetheless, you will always find solace and encouragement in the knowing that your motivation to go into medicine after a first degree or while already studying a course is genuine and that medicine is a necessary career path for you. With this deeply seated conviction/assurance you will ever be on the move even if you are the only one in the world taking such step. But you aren't. Know that countless others are taking such steps too but you might not see one around you. You can find some strength in that too. You need some encouragements? You need someone to hear and contribute to the advancement of your plans and aspirations? You need some motivation, and anchoring? You are finding preclinicals not being funny? You can reach out. mina16:First step satisfied: you really want it bad. Next step is to qualify yourself and get what it is you want. You need God in all of these. You need 'nature' to be on your side. Simple: make sure your motivation for wanting to be a doctor is right. Your information bank must be stocked with the right info. What university are you applying to? How is their admission process? Clean? Their records, satisfying? Method of admission? Post utme alone (this might be possible; JAMB is unpredictable these days) or JAMB plus putme, or WAEC plus JAMB? You should be (almost) sure of the admission method to be utilize in the coming admission exercise. Do you see yourself meeting the requirements? If it's a school using WAEC and JAMB, your WAEC result is supposed to be at top notch and your JAMB score pot almost filled. You need someone currently a student of the school to feed you with relevant information and necessary material if need be. If you were preparing for Post-UTME in UNN for instance, you are supposed to use FELAR 909 to prepare for your English paper. If you don't know that, you will do hard work and not smart work in that area. Little things like these does the separation. Then believe in yourself. You need to be almost 'mad' in your confidence (self motivation) level on the inside of you. Anything that does the boosting for you--maybe some selected music or quotes or friends or mentors-- you should get daily dose. When these things are set then your reading becomes targeted and meaningful. Read. Read the necessary materials. Study the winning materials. Ask around you will find them. For me, Pass At Once JAMB series were part of my winning materials. Read. Stretch yourself. Read. Master the past questions. Get the necessary help (e.g Lessons if need be). Pray. Read. Write your exams. Pray. Follow the admission instructions with respect to deadline and specifics. Pray. If the harvest is ready, if you put in the sickle, the fruit will permit. Success dear! |

derrick015:If your passion for medicine is pure and medicine is what you actually want, then go for it. I don't know why age is an issue for you but that goes to say that you have to go in as soon as you can. (If you need someone to discuss your uncertainty with: Whatsapp: 08032447855) |

Whaylecs:You can't leave out slots for aspirants with, say, 73% nah. Last year some students with 79% were admitted when the cut off was 80%. The best thing for those expecting their names in the supplementary lists is to look out for the merit list and count the number of admitted aspirants for medicine. If it is up to 100 and above, then this will not be funny. The next option will be to rely on probability- the probability whether staff kids who put in for mbbs and score 72% will be up to 20 or so. It is one you can't bet on. The percentage certainty will range from 0 - 100%. Pray and watch! |
dearpiriye:If this staff request form was not in use last year, then it is a 'bad belle' for those expecting their names in the supplementary list. This will seem an unpleasant twist of events. |
Layi9:Yes bro. Me no know say you dey here o. I greet you! |
THE TRUTH ABOUT COC JUST GAT BE TOLD ANYWAYS JAMB. POST-JAMB. Result. Cut off is now out. Merit list is next. Then coc. At this point many aspirants start making a life long mistake. The painful thing is for many they will never know at what point they left their paths. That is the worst thing about mistakes- not realizing you made a mistake. First, the coc form is not for everybody. Or I should say shouldn't be for everybody. But the school restricts no one from going for their coc. Why should they? This is one free big world you know. Who should take the coc form? Who shouldn't? And what conditions should guide a purpose-driven coc choice? WHO SHOULD TAKE A COC FORM Go for the coc form if.. * You have actually discovered yourself, your life purpose and the course you put in for in the first place (the one which cutoff you didn't make) was in tune with your life passion. (It is sad to realize that most young people -black or white- don't know or don't believe that they actually have something in them that seeks expression through their life. A job or career is that avenue you choose to pursue that which you know will give you the opportunity to express that 'song' that is playing in you. The expression of that passion is where your fulfillment lies. And only that! To abandon that and chase after money or any other thing is the beginning of folly. The primary folly.) If you know your passion then... * go for the coc if 1. You have a plan of switching over to your most preferred course while in school. 2. You have made up your mind that if you didn't succeed in switching that you are going to withdraw or finish with the course, graduate and come again to seek that course you know that is in tune with your life passion. Why not? Your purpose should be your primary guide. See, life f**ks almost everybody. The strong and clear headed take it by wisdom. * go for the coc if you find a shortlisted course that still give you the avenue to express your passion. Let me try to explain that with one, two instances. If you put in originally for medicine, one of the inherent value that must have necessitated this choice will be caring- that drive to see people at their best health-wise and otherwise. There are other courses that can give you same opportunity. Courses like guidance and counseling, psychology, physiology, etc. But it's different strokes for different folks. If you think it's medicine and none else then stick on still to your passion. The issue of jamb combination might limit your choices of courses on the coc list of courses if you choose to follow the idea I just shared above. In auch a case, if you can't find a suitable course then you can follow the ideas shared at asterisk number 2. Or settle for the next Jamb. WHO SHOULDN't GO FOR COC Leave the coc if... * you haven't discovered yourself. Sit back and find your passion. *you know you won't switch back to your preferred course during or after school. *you can't find any course in tune with your passion in the coc. In summary, * do coc if you find a short listed course in tune with your passion * do coc into any course, in tune or not in tune with your passion, if you have plans of switching back to your preferred course while in school or after graduating in a case your switching over plans didn't work out. The other option is to put in for a purpose-driven course in the next jamb. P.s. I will find the time to put up what sort of mindset you should come up with and stuffs you can do differently or improve on to better position you for a smooth admission ride come the next trial. #stay calm and pray. Our lives rest in His hands. |

ShinObie:Me too. Used my O'level and my Zoology Degree to apply. Yet, no admission given. Please which school did you graduate from? What is your cgpa? Mine is UNN, second class Upper and submitted transcript. |
ShinObie:Pls what credentials (A level, ND, HND or Degree) did you use in your application? Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks |
From all information from the MIS unit, a (one) list will be out before or on Friday. All the lists (no matter the amount of lists they want to release for this session's admission) will be out by the end of October. This is my take from the analysis of their information made available to the public. All things being equal, it stands and is in line with JAMB's directive (that all admissions should be concluded by the end of October). But human's are human's. Anything can still change. So let's keep our fingers crossed and keep waiting and hoping. |
FolabiCash:If UI accepts ND for Direct Entry (which I think they do), then Crown Poly's wont be any different. My take. |
lomaxx:Dr. Lomaxx please do inbox me the categorised e-textbooks igwe.solomon@gmail.com Thanks Doc... |
Olarwalemii: Hi, my school has sent my transcript since on thr 27th of august, The carrier service said they have delivered it, yet i cant find it at UI's admission office. I dont know what to do.....abeg help mi o!confirm from the courier office where it waas delivered and who signed the receipt of the transcript. Then go check hunting. God's grace. |
africaflozy: Hello peepz, get set for your online submission, portal shall be open for d.e next week. Source; admission office. |
The DE admissions portal 'will' (so I was told by the admin officer on seat) open next week. Mehn...there were 8-- plus transcript already registered with hundreds still in those cartons. |
[quote author=samsolite]You just told me what I have been yearning to know. Thanks and I'll keep following this thread religiously. I'll have to follow up and get my transcript ready pending when they call for submission of credentials. I'd like to know if it'll be possible for me to physically collect the transcript and submit by myself at UI.[/quote uncle....dont make the same costly mistake I made oooo.....make sure whether you are submitting physically or spiritually that your transcript is addressed to UI undergraduate admissions office. To avoid stories that touch. And make sure it is well packaged and sealed. |
@Gideonnaire....which screening...is it PUME screening or DE? Well, I learnt UI dont do DE screening....The submission of the Transcript is on now screening or no screening. |
Pls clarify me....must the transcript be addressed to UI admissions office....we are told on UI helpdesk to 'submit' our transcript not to ask our school to 'send' it. If I get the transcript my self and with my own hands go to submit and register it at UI is there any problem with that. |
Thanks@Adegab......when I go to UI to register the Transcript, what other documents should I go with? |
Pls can I submit my transcript by myself and do the registration at once? Must my school send it? |
