Please we should all be guided, the scammers are ready to.......... yes it should be from FCC |

Morning Y'all, could this story be real? Read and respond accordingly.
Cheque Is Money
This is a true life story. Not only is it a real account of event that took place between my blood sister and US immigration/custom officers, it is a recent one too; it took place last two weeks. Between Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th, January 2018, from Lagos to Atlanta, USA, and back to Lagos. The entire journey lasted not more than forty-eight hours.
My sister has been visiting America since 1996, mostly twice a year. She had two of her three children in the US. All of them are now residents in US. The purpose of the visits has largely been business, including this last one. She runs Daslat Ventures, a boutique / Home stuff outfit, with outlets at Ogba Shopping Arcade and Ajah. Most of her dealings in US are with Costco, a popular and reputable company. This paragraph is meant to give a mental understanding to who she is. Nothing more.
On the fateful Tuesday, I got a whatsapp message from my sister notifying me she was about to board a Delta airline (her usual airline, a US airline) going to Atlanta, Georgia. Several hours later, I got another whatsapp message informing me they had landed in the airport in US. The message ended with 'Alhiamudulilhai'. Myself, I was busy packing my luggage for the next day flight to Nigeria. Next time I checked my phone, there was another message from her: 'heading back home now'. I was a bit puzzled. I tried to explain it away by telling myself she was heading to her home in Atlanta. But wait a sec! Between the 'Alhiamudulilhai' message and this one, it had been few hours. I decided to call her. She clarified to me she was heading home to Lagos. 'What happen?' She told me she would explain when we see in Lagos. But I persisted. She then explained.....
The flight from Lagos to US was smooth. Delta is the best. Ojukai and his wife were also on board. When we landed at the airport in US, I was able to connect to the airport Wi-Fi. That was when I sent you the message of my arrival. I proceeded to the entry desk where my passport and visa were checked and verified ok. 'You are welcome to the US ma'am.' I walked past the counter, was heading to the arrival section when I heard 'hey You!'. I stopped and turned around to face a stern looking middle aged white man. He pointed at the book I was holding, 'You must set Forth at Dawn'. 'WHAT IS IN THAT FEDEX ENVELOPE?' This was the beginning!
In the Fedex envelope I had inside the Soyinka's book I was holding was a cheque given to me by Mrs Giwa to help deliver to a friend of hers, Mrs Ijeze whom I know very well. I didn't declare it at the point of entry. One, I didn't know cheque is money. Two, it wasn't in my name. When they asked me to follow them to their office within the airport I knew I was in a sort of trouble. Though I had the confidence I could explain myself, my bladder still gave way! Lol . They took my bags away from me, my book and my phones. I told them I had to change cloth because I had wet myself... they allowed me.
Interrogation started. They asked so many questions. They would hold meetings among themselves in whisper and returned to me for another round of questions. They called in a FBI agent. Then another hours of questions. They were trying to establish a case against me but my response kept me in the clear. They asked about my business, I told them. They cross examined that by putting a call through to Costco. My story was corroborated. I gave them Mrs Giwa's number. They called her. She confirmed she gave me the cheque. Still, the interrogation continued. I was getting tired. I m diabetic, you know.
One of the agents put before me my phone asking me to explain and identify the people in the video clips in my phone's whatsapp app! I was confused. The clips showed ritual beheadings, boko haram barbaric acts, badoo atrocities and some Emmanuella's comedy skits. I don't know any of them. I could understand the conclusion they were setting up. These are stuff people broadcast on whatsapp in Nigeria. People forward it to their contacts for information purpose only. I have no idea who these people in the clips are.
At this point, it is important to mention my sister wears hijab (not Niqab nor Burka).
They called most US contacts on my phone. I believed they got good responses about me. During the long hours interrogation, Delta had been contacted to put me on next available flight to Lagos. Delta was excellent. They put me on first class. That was when the interrogating agents started showing me a bit of respect. They told me they were not banning me from entering US in near future but they were not comfortable with the video clips found on my phone. As such they would deny me entry this time. I could go home and reapply for US visa in Lagos. I asked them if my children would be in any trouble because of this unfortunate misunderstanding, they said No. At that point I just wanted to be on my way to Lagos. They didn't confisticate the cheque either. Now back in Lagos, glory be to God, the Lord of all the worlds.
The reason I decided to narrate this story to our platform IGSOSA is to inform us concerning what we share, receive from forwarded messages and store (intentionally or otherwise) on our phones. You can never tell when they would turn incriminating. Even if you have got explanations that are genuine, events arising from the delay might waste your precious time and resources. Whatsapp, by default setting, save a copy of your images and videos in your phone's gallery.

sugah: If there was a 'set' process, believe me Nigerians would have beaten it. People have manufactured spouses, children, School qualifications, jobs, travel history, conferences just because they believe it is what the VO would consider a tie and Grant their visa. Yet you find genuine first time applicants without any of the aforementioned getting Visas. I believe these VOs are trained psychologists and the interview is just an evaluation Being a trained psychologists does not mean they are not prone to human error or that they could not make wrong judgement sometimes but like kaptainafrica said visa is a privilege and not a right and then again those denied also have right to there opinion cause they paid for the visa denied |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by siina(m): 5:55pm On Jan 30, 2018 |
keboxxerxes: This is my take on how DPR might contact successful candidates.
1. The OND chaps are not as much as the BSC chaps in number, so calling successful OND candidates would not be very stressful for them to do. 2. The OND candidates did not have a recruitment portal put in place for their recruitment so the only possible way to contact the candidates about the process of their application would probably be by calls, emails or SMS. 3. As for the BSC and HND chaps, the major medium of communication would be VIA the portal. If you recall the process of the interview invite, we were just too much for DPR to send emails to all of us, so it was just a matter of DPR disabling portals of candidates that they were not interested in. 4. Finally, when DPR start reaching out to BSC candidates, an invite to be printed from our respective portals may be required in order to pick up our APLs. That way, DPR can efficiently keep track of who they invited In all, just keep in mind the fact that, the mode of communication DPR used to contact OND candidates will be different from how they will contact BSC candidates.
I wish everyone, including myself the very best in this process.
God Speed. FIRS called around 700 people for interview |

Expensive85: So what criteria or criterion will they use in selecting the 15 that would be promoted in your analogy, given that the 100 persons were recruited the same day, the same qualifications, years of service etc? I may not know how things work in FIRS but I know that promotion, as and when due, is one of the rights and motivational incentives that workers enjoy in the civil service. They like to flaunt their seniority, ! Well thats a question you will need to ask Fowler or those in charge of the recruitment. But what I said is fact and you can walk to any FIRS office and confirm yourself, its not a secret or a hidden thing. Infact the guy was busy reading seriously like kilode then. Again each depatments in the University has a quota meaning the maximum number of students that will be admitted into that department and they still conduct exam for the students, so what yardstick do they use in the admitting the required quota? |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: FIRS To Recruit 1,250 New Staff by siina(m): 5:12pm On Jan 27, 2018 |
48noble: so speculative.... 1. Firs promotion is based on those who qualified to be promoted and it is not based on a number quota kind of thing as u guessed.
2. FCC is so deformed by this government that Nigerians regret believing d change mantra...
3. FIRS can't hijack d recruitment when NASS is standing on their budget n modus operandi or bureaucracy in FIRS and d executive still appoint d board members. firs workers r civil servants too.
4.call it Nepotism or corruption.. recommendations by relevant stakeholders is part of bureaucracy in government recruitment. thank God u ve a contact person don't flash it on others, people r working in CBN, NNPC n foreign Nigerian embassies n r paid in hard currency... some recommended them.
5. I don't think we care where they type d offer letter or APL, just as I don't care where they printed d #1k note I used in buying callcard for data dis morning. let them bring d damn thing n end this 2016 recruitment process so people can start earning n spending joor.
6. Respect our patience...don't blast us in d name of giving us info.
7. God bless our FIRS hustle... you point exactly? Because I dont seem to understand why you are condemning yessir's post. I have a friend in firs also,he is a manager and he also confirmed to me last year december that vacancies were declared for each cadre. So technically if 15 posts is declared for officer 1 and and we have 100 officer 11 that are due for officer 1only 15 out of 100 will be promoted. Thats the latest in FIRS now |

Polchiz: Don't assume the position of God. Prayer can be published on facebook, twitter, nairaland, e.t.c
Why should anybody get irritated by prayer whichever way/means it is said if the person is not a devil or its agent? well people get the original purpose of prayer wrong. Prayer is a personal conversation between you and God, go back to ur bible and check on how people pray. Technology has changed things and it is what God warns Adam and Eve about in the garden |
