bodik: Please any other adviceThere is a department in the Nigerian Stock Exchange set up especially for this purpose. I think it is called BDR (broker, dealer relationship). Go to the NSE building on Customs street, off Broad Street, ask for the department and file a complaint. Some brokers get their licenses suspended because of acts like this. |
cecegorz: I also had a terrible experience with these guys, for the fact that their boss presents automedics program on the radio, which i really enjoy as it is educative, i decided to visit them for a professional touch on my car. This is the 3rd Complaint about Automedics. I'm concerned because I initially recommended them. Can I suggest you call one of top guys on 08080806686. Tell him about your experience, even if you don't plan to go there again. And let him know that more people are complaining about their services. |
bravedude: @Payless,if i disconnect and reconnect the battery, what happens to the Navigation if requested for code,i don't think i know the code. All this was a result of leakage from the oil filter after servicing in one of the soul call good auto workshop on this chat forumFor those that have tried Automedics based on the recommendation in my first post and have one issue or the other with them, please call: 08080806686 and ask to speak with Mr. Gbola Oba. I mentioned your complaints to him and he is quite concerned. |

royalflame: I was at this workshop inside LTV 8 today after reading the post from SimonTemp, I was grossly disappointed at the quality and the manner with which they do business.I'm sorry you had this experience after you patronized them based on my recommendation. I can't hold brief for them, but I'll suggest you try and report your experience to the owner even if you will not be patronizing them again. I believe the owner is called Mr Kunle. |
kuntash:I'm not a dealer, but i've bought a car on NL before, and I've also sold one. And i follow the auto section. My experience leads me to this conclusion: Dealers Only a few dealers are reliable, trustworthy and reasonable. I've seen dealers advertising Nigeria used cars as Tokunbo. I've seen Mileage rollbacks. I've seen cars with history of 3 accidents been advertised as clean title. My conclusion is that it is better to use a reliable dealer with a good track record, then ask for a breakdown of the cost of the car,(if you are importing) - then do an on-line search yourself and compare the prices. If the dealer's price is reasonable, negotiate a bit more before settling for the deal. And have everything documented and signed by both parties. Buyers Nigerians just love cheap stuff. No wonder the Chinese have flooded our markets with cheap, sub-standard stuff. Most of just look for a cheap bargain when looking for car. More often than not, if its cheaper than usual, there's a catch that will come back to bite u. If you want to buy a Tokunbo car. Go online and search, check autotrader, yahoo autos, ebay, carsforsale.com. Get the average price, not just the cheapest, then add at least $3500 (Trucking, Shipping, Clearing, Dealer's fees) to the cost of the car. This will give an idea of what the price should be in Nigeria. @Kuntash For argument's sake, please go and inspect that car, get VIN and do a VIN check. Also take your mechanic along. I can guarantee you that one of these will be the case: -Nigerian used been sold as Tokunbo -Stolen Car -Serious Mileage roll-back -Serious accident or damage |

It's a 1997 Mercedes Benz E240. Will an OBD2 Scanner help in detecting Mileage roll back? |
Pls help with this VIN: JNRDR09Y32W250428 Thanks. |
@ Siena Don't know if this is the right thread to post this. Apologies if not. How can I tell if: - a car has been changed from RHD to LHD. A car is being advertised for sale in Nigeria, the country of import is UK. I suspect a conversion might have been done. What are the tell tale signs. - Mileage has been tampered with. The mileage seems a bit low for a car of its age. I expect about 150,000 miles. The car shows 80,000 miles. |

Go to carsurvey.org and read up about it. I believe some the challenges encountered by owners will be common regardless of the country. Additionally, it carries a 3.7 liter V6 engine. Be sure you are ready for that considering the increase in pump price of fuel. I have a friend that uses it, getting parts and qualified mechanics can be a challenge. |

A lot of new cars especially SUVs don't give a potential buyer much of a choice in the available range of transmissions. So even though I like manual transmissions, if I want to buy a 2011 Lexus GX470, I'll have to settle for an automatic transmission. |
Jarus, Ifyalways, OAM4J and r231 - great job and well done. Well done also to everybody that has contributed. The idea of the shop for the family is great. But I'd like to suggest that Mrs. Obuh be in charge of the shop while we work on getting Mr. Obuh a job (even if it's a handy man kind of job). That way the family will not be restricted to only one source of income. |
