Politics › Re: NGIGE And His Diatribe Against University Lecturers by Simplyleo: 1:45am On May 21, 2020 |
[s] Carbuyer83: The attention of ASUU-UNILAG has been drawn to a most disparaging statement credited to the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige to the effect that “the Federal government has demonstrated enough good will by paying salaries of striking lecturers” and that “it is immoral and despicable for those who should be conducting research as Nigerians for the discovery of new drugs and medical equipment that will be used during COVID-19 period to say that they are at home playing Ludo and Draft (sic) and other games.”
If this assertion by Senator Chris Ngige is true, it is most unbecoming and unfortunate of a Minister of the Federal Republic, whose mandate is to ensure peace and harmony in the Labour Sector. That he can resort to this kind of chicanery certainly leaves much to be desired.
For his information, the Federal government has not done University academics any favour by paying the two months salaries they unlawfully and wickedly withheld on account of the disagreement over IPPIS enrolment. It is preposterous to say the least that the same Minister who superintend over failed promises by the federal government with its consequential psychological and intellectual torture on Nigerian Academics, would now turn around to falsely accuse them of unproductivity and failure to contribute to meaningful research in the fight against COVID-19. Not only that, it is noteworthy, that the same Minister had shamelessly presided over at least two unimplemented Memorandum of Actions (MoAs) with our Union since he assumed duties as Minister of Labour.
In addition, it is shocking to realize that a Minister of the Federal Republicin Senator Ngige’s stature is not abreast of developments in the Ivory Towers, if he is, he would not resort to farcical assertions like the one on “Ludo and draughts games.” For his information, Nigerian Academics have been in the frontline of the fight against COVID-19. In UNILAG for example, a group of researchers have just developed a ventilator within this short period and this is without prejudice to other on-going researches on the COVID-19 pandemic in our and other Universities in Nigeria. This, it must be emphasized, is without any research support from the government.
If Ministers like Senator Chris Ngige relish in playing games meant for four year old and above, he should not project such decadence on the Nigerian Intelligential. Senator Ngige is advised to get abreast with progressive intellectual and scholarly innovations in Nigeria’s Ivory Towers before he makes, what is fast becoming, his usual ludicrous, defamatory, and scandalous statements about serious national issues.
‘Dele Ashiru Chairman, ASUU-UNILAG. [/s] ASUU should enrol in ipobs if there is nothing up their sleeves. |

Donkalio: Biafra is a terrorist group, & all their leaders are dead, including Late. Mazi Nnamdi kanu. Late lamidi cownu will have his name in the Guiness Book of Records as the first founder of an online country, Biafra. Biafra exists only on the internet. Imagine ipob miscreants buying biafra passport with naira with the plan of getting US Visa at the US embassy in Lagos, then booking flight with same Lagos as the departure city. Meanwhile, in his mind, he is planning to depart biafra to US. Honestly, I haven't seen illiterates like ipob miscreants. |

naija4life247: For the reason you stated above, government should continue paying dead staff and stop deducting taxes from university lecturers. Go over what you typed again and convince me why I should not request for your medical certificate of mental fitness. You took these words from my mouth fingers. Was about quoting him for same reason, then I saw this. Besides, he left the topic of the thread and started typing gibberish about politicians bla bla bla. Imagine, organisations using dead people to collect salaries for jobs not done. The same jobs youths are roaming the streets in search of. I didn't bother checking his past comments, but pretty sure he must be among noisemakers talking about lack of jobs for Nigerian youths. Smh. |

MyVILLAGEpeople: These guys took charge of this country in their youthful age. And we are still recycling them till date. It's just unfortunate that today youths aren't ready to fight and get power. Power isn't given, but fought for. @ the words in bold. But some worthless unproductive agama lizards want it given to them. Is it that they are so worthless and inconsequential that they can't fight for it and win? The more reason they have been threatening thunder and brimstone. |

Likely comments from twerps:
1. When Buhari wants productivity, he knows where to find good heads.
2. Buhari wants to bribe and win SE.
3. They can't do without us.
4. He actually merit his retention, not that Buhari wants to retain him.
5. Buhari decides to retain him because his appointment is useless.
6. And many more.
The Expressions may come in various format different from the above, but essentially, that is what they will say.

He also said northern state governments, which had been evacuating the Quranic school pupils, popularly known as Almajirai, to their states of origin should suspend it. Very apt. Coronavirus doesn't move around, they are moved. Outlawing the practice of sending hungry children to other towns to fend for themselves under whatever guise, is a commendable step towards ending these social ills called Almajiri. But this is certainly a wrong time for doing this. It is just like puncturing the efforts by all stakeholders in controlling the spread of this virus. Such action at this time is pound foolish and penny wise. |

Oksman: Plastic components incorporated in batteries include separators and casing components. Plastics have good shock absorbing characteristics (Polypropylene has good shock absorbing characteristics) and prevent damage to the basic cell unit from minor accidental shocks. And all these are derived from petroleum in petrochemical plant. Plastic can be gotten from latex. Latex are gotten from plants (tree to be precise). Note, chemical composition of natural plastic is superior to that of synthetic plastic. Just that synthetic plastic is easier and cheaper. Hence the movement from natural to synthetic plastic. |

GamalNasser: Stories , when the G8 economies wake up demand for fuel will return , even to make batteries for electric car you need Petroleum You don't need fossil fuel to manufacture batteries. The working mechanism of a battery is the movement of charges between the electrodes through a medium called electrolyte. The Electrolytes are inorganic acid such as H 2SO 4, HNO 3 and HCl. Neither the electrodes nor the electrolytes are made from fossil fuel. Though, electric batteries can't take the place of fossil fuel, never. |

Very illogical conclusion.
Except if COVID 19 will wipe out humanity, then you may be right.
But, as long there will still be human, and the humans need energy, fossil fuel remains precious for now.
The greatest problem that science has not been able to address is energy issues.
The world is made of abundant energy, but harnessing it is the greatest challenge.
Energy from the sun alone is tremendous, but very insignificant portion of it is being used. Indeed, effen the energy in fossil fuel is traceable to the sun.
For now, fossil fuel is the only source of energy in abundance that be completely transformed into useful purpose. |
