Romance / Photo/video: Pastor's Wedding Interrupted By His Other Wives by simtosul: 8:09pm On Mar 02, 2016
What was supposed to be a Kenyan pastor’s
special day was ruined when several women who
claimed he was married to them stormed the
venue of his secret wedding
Drama was the order of the day at the NPC
church in Valley road in Kenya, when some
women interrupted the wedding ceremony of one
of the church pastors, John Waituha.
The ladies claimed they were legally married to
John, and showed off the kids they each claimed
they had for the pastor. They also showed off the
marriage certificates that authentically bound
them to Pastor John.
Pastor John broke down in tears while the
commotion was ongoing.
The police was later called in to bring the
situation under control.

Politics / Why EFCC Is Yet To Prosecute Odili – Magu by simtosul: 9:49am On Mar 01, 2016
– EFCC laments that court injunctions have
hindered the commission from carrying out its
duties

– Peter Odili’s case began in January 2007 when
the EFCC issued a report of its investigation into
the finances of the Rivers state government

– The case has been stalled since Justice Ibrahim
Buba granted a perpetual injunction restraining
the EFCC from probing Odili

Magu says there is a perpetual injunction
restraining EFCC from probing Odili.
The chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has said the
commission cannot prosecute former Rivers state
governor, Peter Odili, because of a perpetual
injunction granted by a court which stopped the
anti-graft agency from probing the former
governor.

Magu who disclosed this yesterday, February 29,
in Abuja told the Leadership that the efforts of
the EFCC to appeal against the court order
restraining it from investigating Odili has been
frustrated by the Court of Appeal which has
declined to list its appeal against the injunction
since 2008.

Likewise, an EFCC prosecutor Johnson Ojogbene,
complained that the issue of court injunctions
have hindered the commission from carrying out
its duties because there is nothing anyone can do
about a court judgement except to obey it.
Peter Odili’s case began in January 2007 when
the EFCC issued a report of its investigation into
the finances of the Rivers state government under
Odili.

The report alleged that over N100 billion of Rivers
state’s funds have been diverted by Odili among
other serious allegations of fraud, conspiracy and
conversion of public funds.

Following the indicting report, on February 22,
2007, the then attorney general and commissioner
for justice for Rivers state filed a suit challenging
the powers of the EFCC to probe the affairs of
the state and claiming that the activities of the
EFCC were prejudicial to the smooth running of
the government of Rivers State.

Subsequently, Justice Ibrahim Buba granted a
perpetual injunction restraining the EFCC from
probing graft allegations its operatives levelled
against the former governor.
The case has been stalled since then.

Politics / No Going Back On TSA, Fed Govt Insists by simtosul: 5:58am On Mar 01, 2016
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), other government agencies and parastatals hoping to get exemption from Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA), have been advised to partner with government for the success of the policy.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, said the introduction of TSA will bring a lot of benefits to Nigerians, adding that those against the policy are simply being narrow-minded.

Mrs Winifred who spoke yesterday in Lagos during an official visit to the Administrative Staff College of Nigerian (ASCON), Topo, Badagry expressed worries that some unscrupulous Nigerians might want to circumvent TSA implementation.

She said: “TSA is a global best practice for the control of government resources. All the hue and cry of being exempted from TSA is purely being done from a narrow point of view. TSA, when it is fully rolled out, is for the benefit of everybody because it is for the central control of government resources.

“Already, we know that there has been so many leakages; every agency and organisation was just allowed to operate by itself, but so far as government agency is drawing from the central pool, there should be a control.

“I believe that all agencies, and universities should come to terms that TSA has come to stay and they should put in their best in ensuring its success. I do not see anything wrong with TSA, I’m only worried about how we Nigerians always want to apply things in our usual ways; trying to run away from control, accountability and discipline.”

She said just as the new word ‘budget padding’ entered the nation’s political lexicon, she was equally shocked to learn what she also called ‘a strange development’.

“I’m happy you said it’s a new word because budget padding is also new to me and to many Nigerians. I believe if there has been anything like that, there should be an investigation. But I am very sure that the issue has been properly addressed by the concerned parties,” she added.

She said the major thrust of her leadership would be on training and retraining of the civil service in order to make it fit into the change mantra of the Federal Government.

“When we talk of the change mantra, I believe we are talking about the change agenda of the present administration. How do we get the civil servants to key into this? It is to create the enabling environment for them. So the first step is to re-orientate the civil servants through training and capacity development. What I’m going to be doing is training, training and training. That is one of the reasons I’m here. This is my first major tour to one of the MDIs (Management Development Institutes) so that it can be properly reengineered towards training and capacity development,” she said.

Crime / Man Runs Human Abattoirs In Oyo & Osun, Sells Parts For N30,000 by simtosul: 5:33am On Mar 01, 2016
We’ve Human Abattoirs, Sell Parts For N30,000— Suspect

Ibadan—ONLOOKERS were stunned into silence yesterday at the headquarters of Oyo State Police Command as a 50-year old suspect, Kamoru Oladele, narrated how he sells human parts for between N25,000 and N30,000, adding that his gang has human abattoirs in Oyo and Osun states.

Narrating how the law caught up with the suspects, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade, said the breakthrough was made by the special anti-kidnapping squad of the Command after receiving intelligence report on the activities of the suspects. Police further stated that the suspects had succeeded in giving their victims erroneous impression that they could make them rich through rituals.

The suspect told Vanguard: “I am a herbalist and I do fortune charms for people. I am not the one that usually sells human parts. I buy from some people. This is my first time of engaging in this kind of business. I usually buy the human skull for N10,000 and sell it for N25,000 for those that come for fortune charms.” Kamoru Oladele… Human skull is called agbon. When police searched his house, they alleged that one smoked human skull was recovered.

They further explained that the suspect used coded words for different human parts. Oladele said the words can only be decoded by their initiates, adding that “a human head that sells for N30,000 is called agbon (coconut).” The abattoirs He also disclosed that their trade was carried out in their human abattoirs located at Amuloko and Kuta villages in Oyo and Osun states, respectively. Also paraded was one Seun Ogunbamijo, who claimed to be a graduate of one of the polytechnics in the South-West.

According to the police, they laid siege to some of the first generation banks in Ibadan, monitor bank customers who withdraw large sums of money and rob them.

The police boss, Oyebade, said: “However, luck ran out of them after the anti-bank robbery operatives of the Command were drafted to the scene and they were arrested.” Some of the items allegedly recovered from the gang include two locally-made pistols, one cut-to-size single-barrelled gun, 10 live cartridges, one Toyota 4-runner with number plates ABC 624 AH, and a Toyota Carina with number plates KS 599 AAA.

Politics / Badeh Seeks Bail To Treat Spinal Cord Injury, Kidney Stones by simtosul: 5:20am On Mar 01, 2016
A former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal
Alex Badeh (retd.), who has been in the custody
of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission since February 8, 2016, has urged
the Federal High Court in Abuja to grant him bail
on health grounds.

Badeh is still being held in the custody of the
EFCC in Lagos over ongoing investigation into his
roles in an alleged N4.4bn fraud involving the
Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety
Agency.

Justice James Tsoho fixed March 4 for ruling on
the bail application after entertaining arguments
by Badeh’s lawyer and the objection by the EFCC
on Monday.

Badeh’s lawyer, Mr. Samuel Zibiri (SAN), who
filed the bail application, dated February 15, said
though the EFCC had granted his client bail, the
ex-CDS could not meet it because of the “onerous
conditions” attached to it.

He said his client was recovering from a recent
surgery and also had a history of kidney stone.
He predicated the application on Section 35(4)
and Section 36(5) of the 1999 Constitution and
sections 158, 162 and 165(1) (2) of the
Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

Zibiri urged the court to grant bail to his client on
self recognizance or on such favourable and
liberal terms as the court might deem fit to make.
He urged the court to grant him bail pending the
completion of investigation by the EFCC and/or
arraignment before this court.

His lawyer maintained that the alleged case of
fraud, for which his client was invited, was
bailable.
He added, “There is no reason for, or any
likelihood that the applicant will jump bail, escape
from Justice, interfere with witnesses or
investigation if same is still ongoing, or the
course of justice upon being granted bail.
“The applicant has no criminal antecedent or
records. The applicant, owing to his status in the
society, can be granted bail on self recognizance
or in the most liberal of terms, as he will be
available to attend any invitation by the
respondents at all times.

“That the applicant’s health condition is bad and
he recently had surgery on his spine which
requires constant post-operative follow-up by his
physician as well as renal condition, which he is
currently undergoing treatment for.”

In an affidavit in support of the bail application,
deposed to by one Emeka Okoroafor, the
deponent stated, “That three days after the
applicant was detained, the respondent issued an
internal memo dated February 10, on the most
onerous and unrealistic bail terms.

“That upon receiving the bail condition, all efforts
were made to satisfy same by the family and
friends of the applicant, who could not satisfy
same due to its onerous and unreasonable terms
whereupon he, Mr Zibiri, SAN, wrote a letter for a
review of the bail condition for the applicant.
“That the respondent has refused, neglected and
ignored the said appeal and has continued to
detain the applicant indefinitely.

“That he is currently recovering from a recent
surgery on his spinal cord for Lumbo-sacral
spondylosis and currently on medication. He also
has a history of renal lithiasis (Kidney stones).”
In arguing his application, Zibiri said Badeh’s
detention by virtue of a remand order issued by a
Magistrate’s Court in Lagos “is a gross abuse of
the ACJA 2015”, insisting he should be granted
bail because a Federal High Court is superior to
the magistrate court.”

EFCC’s lawyer, Cosmas Ugwu, in opposing the
application, told the court that Badeh had not
made any effort to fulfil the administrative bail
granted him by the EFCC in Lagos.
“He is in custody in Lagos; Abuja is not holding
him; so, the convenient court to grant the
applicant bail is a court within the same territorial
jurisdiction,” Ugwu argued.

The EFCC lawyer also informed the court that
Badeh was being held under a remand order
issued by a Lagos magistrate court because he
was fingered in the alleged NIMASA fraud
scandal.

Romance / Photo: Woman Accused Of Raping Woman With Artificial joystick by simtosul: 12:52pm On Feb 26, 2016
A 26-year-old woman, Queeny Akuffo, who has
been charged with raping another woman, has
told the Accra circuit court that she was not in a
lesbian relationship with the alleged victim prior
to the incident in question.
The 22-year-old victim told the court on
Wednesday that she carried out chores for the
accused and on the day that the incident
occurred, Akuffo told her to make dinner,.
She is said to have drugged the complainant and
raped her with an artificial penis, otherwise called
a dido.
At Wednesday’s hearing, counsel for the accused
Andrews Kudzo Vortia suggested that the victim
was fully aware of what to expect when she
heeded to the accused’s call.
“The victim had fore knowledge of what would
transpire at the house and thus could not say
that she was raped by the victim,” he said.
In response, the victim informed the court that
she went to the house of the accused because
she normally helped with her house chores, not
because she had homosexual desires.
She admitted however that she accepted a drink
that was offered to her by the accused because
she did not think it would lead to anything bad.
The case was then adjourned to March 15, 2016
for the continuation of the cross-examinations.
The courtroom was filled to the brim with
sympathisers of both the accused and the alleged
victim.
At a previous court sitting on February 12, 2016,
Queeny’s supporters attacked journalists for
taking pictures of her.
The facts of the case are that on January 25,
2016, the victim was on her way to buy food for
her son when Queeny ordered her to meet her
needs.
The lesbian rape case has stirred ’s
legal community
According to the prosecution, the victim quickly
went home to attend to her son before she
honoured the invitation.
When she entered Queeny’s house, she was
ushered into the sitting room where Queeny
offered her a glass of vodka, which she declined.
However, Queeny convinced her to take it,
apparently convincing her that vodka is non-
alcoholic.
After she had taken the drink, the victim realised
she was becoming tipsy but Queeny assured her
it was normal.
“Immediately I woke up, my mother informed me
that we will go to the hospital and the police
station,” the complainant said.
“It was later that I was told that Queeny drugged
and raped me with an artificial penis and also
video it.”
Earlier in the case, an unnamed 14-year-old boy
described how he had seen Queeny and the victim
drinking together and later saw Queeny dragging
the victim, who was in a wobbly state, into her
bedroom.
The parents of the victim went to Queeny’s house
and found her taking a video coverage with her
mobile phone, while inserting the prosthesis into
the private parts of their daughter.
The parents, who found their daughter in an
unconscious state, took her to the police station
to file a complaint that their daughter had been
poisoned.
Queeny has plead not guilty to one count of rape
and is currently free on bail.
While male homosexuality is illegal in Ghana,
lesbianianism is not covered by the law, meaning
that sexual relations between females is in a legal
grey area.

Business / CBN Claims Responsibility For Parallel Market Crash by simtosul: 9:32am On Feb 26, 2016
Dollar rebounds, hits N330
THERE are strong indications that the efforts of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stabilise the Naira may have started yielding positive results, as the “first test-run” of the measures has hit the speculators.

Top sources at the apex bank who pleaded anonymity, yesterday, said that the deployment of a number of measures by the institution had proved that turning the tide in the forex market is not impossible, especially with the “severe punishment suffered by currency hoarders and speculators” on Wednesday.

It will be recalled that the CBN had said that speculators were behind the market burble, which made a mince-meat of the Naira, sending it crashing to an all-time low of N400 to the dollar.

A source said even though the rates at the parallel market may fall again as speculators may persist, they will only be “gambling” with what is left of Wednesday’s loss, which they will eventually lose with further “strike” from the plans.

The naira’s exchange rate to the dollar had on Wednesday assumed multiple pricing trend at various centres across the country, with the lowest price at N220 to the dollar, while the highest was N300.

“Some parallel market operators revealed that they bought from sellers at the rate of N272 and sold at N295. A good number of the sellers who had suffered huge losses confessed that they had bought at the rate of N380 hoping to sell at N400 before the sudden turn in fortunes,” one of the officials said.

But with the return of speculators to mop up “cheap” dollar at the parallel market yesterday, the exchange rate of the naira to the dollar immediately rose to N330.

The acting President of the Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, said: “Hoarding and speculative activities have returned to the market almost immediately, pushing down the naira’s value again.”

Also, a currency trader said “many people have been asking to buy the dollar today (yesterday), while not many people are coming to sell to us.”

Analysts said the sudden drop was a failed expectation of devaluation, as the Federal Government and the CBN unanimously agreed to resist the pressure, mostly from foreign portfolio investors and their local counterparts.

The Executive Director, Finance, BGL Capital, Femi Ademola, said the recent appreciation may have been response to the persistent advice of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the country to adopt a floating exchange rate policy.

By the policy, CBN would remove the peg on the exchange rate, but intervene in the critical sectors of the economy, which would end the struggle for the foreign exchange, as banks would begin to sell at rates determined by market demand.

Romance / 9 Baffling Lies Nigerian Girls Tell by simtosul: 9:10am On Feb 12, 2016
I thought I should compile this list for those boys who are new to the game. Feel free to add whatever i missed out. Let’s go;

1. I don’t even like make-up

To be honest, my heart pours out to the male populace. The way and the method make-up has evolved is unimaginable. You will see someone go inside a room this minute and see another person walk out, have you seen those make overs on Instagram? Some girls will even claim nude make-up, watch out for those girls, they are more guilty. Well, do not blame the players. Boys like light-skinned perfect face and perfect body girls.

2. I am Miss Independent, I never ask for money

Women naturally like to collect, true some do not ask but it doesn’t mean they will not collect. Even when a girl knows fully well she has more than her giver, that does not really stop her. Well, I will play advocate here – since the men think it is okay for there to be payment gap, let the collection continue.

3. I never visit boys

Why you always lying? In fact girls like to do that. I strongly feel they say this just to appear holier than the next girl. However, due to boys judgmental spirit, we rather just tell you what is pleasant in your ear.

4. Fast food is not my thing

Yes, most girls say this just to sound homely and decent (whatever that means). They say ‘I prefer home cooked meals to fast food’. But deep down, what they are trying to say is-they prefer exotic restaurants! So be sure to figure out what your girl is actually saying.

5. I do not like sex

When their man complains about not having enough hits from them, their response is usually that they do not like $ex and they only do it with him to make him feel loved. When in the actual sense, they do it when they are forced to or yes, when they are Hot.

6. I have never double dated, and never will

Again, why you always lying?? Some how telling the truth about this down plays you in front of a boy. So in order to play safe and not look randy, they’d rather keep lying about their double secret life as long as they can. Girls at some point date two people at a time. Whether you are leaving one next week… it is what we are talking about.

7. I never talk to strangers or even reply messages from them

Forgive me, I am short of words here. Is everyone not a stranger at one point or the other. Am a girl oh, but I am tired of this territory marked female. And the funniest part is 98.9% of people that say this just say it because they think it looks responsible. Smh

8. I do not bleach

First and foremost, let us air this out- 90% of girls in Lagos are fair in a way. Be it yellow, green, red and mixed, they do not care as long as their men like it. Please why do girls give themselves these funny names; Lushbarbie, Pinkyfairy, RoseyAngel, LovelyAngel etc I just made these names up but I can bet there are girls somewhere that call themselves these. The annoying part is when they lie over the obvious bleached skin! But why?

9. I can cook anything but I am not just in the mood

In some girls’ mind when they say they can cook the boy will like them x2 (Stop wasting your lies, you will soon get to your limit). Some girls cannot cook to save their life but they would say they know how to just to again, look good. Some of these girls will burn indomie. Keep a fire extinguisher close by.
Business / Differences Between The Mindsets Of The Rich And The Average by simtosul: 5:34pm On Feb 09, 2016
1. The average believe that money is earned through labour. The rich believe it is earned through
thought.

Those who are not rich tend to believe that the harder they work the more money they’ll make. If this were so, then laborers, factory workers and
their like would have been the wealthiest people, but sadly that’s not the case. We are told to go to school, work hard and get a good job as the way to wealth, but no one achieves wealth this way. The rich create the abundance mentality and harness their creative thoughts to make it a reality. According to Steve Forbes, “the real source of wealth in this new era is not material things. It is the mind, the human spirit, the human imagination, and our faith in the future.”

2. The average worry about money. The rich dream
about money.

Worry is the order of the day in the Average
league when it comes to money. This is because
they constantly fret about where the next inflow
is going to come from, thus living their lives on
the edge. The rich dream about it, thus laying the
groundwork for their thoughts and actions to
actualize wealth. They do not have any fears
about money, thus giving them the freedom to
succeed in creating more wealth.

3. The average think about spending. The rich think
about investing.

The average usually live beyond their means. They
usually earn little so they have to spend it all to
exist. The rich also spend heavily but they put
aside a portion of their income in investment
vehicles. Wealth is built by investing, putting
money to work for you to produce more. The rich
don’t focus on spending and saving; rather, they
focus on how to earn more, invest a percentage
of it and spend the remainder.

4. The average equate money with stress. The rich
equate money with peace of mind.

The average person sees money as a necessary
evil that must be endured as part of life. In short,
they see only negative things about it. The rich
instead see money as the great liberator through
which they can purchase financial peace of mind.
Money makes many problems disappear, so the
man who lacks it still has many problems he
cannot handle which causes him stress.

5. The average work as little as possible. The rich
work as smart as possible.

The most popular strategy among the average to
make wealth is by winning the lottery. Sadly they
believe that this is the only hope for them. They
go to work daily, turn in an average effort and
wonder why they are perpetually struggling
financially. The rich instead bet on themselves,
put in a world-class effort and take steps towards
the achievement of their goals. They seek for
productive ways to get things done with and
through others utilizing the best practices
available thus getting mega results.

6. The average just want to be comfortable. The rich
are comfortable being uncomfortable.

Any way you look at it, everyone just wants to be
comfortable. But comfort is dangerous because it
pushes you into a false sense of security that
you’ve reached the pinnacle when there is still
more to be done. The rich don’t want to stay in
their comfort zones. Instead, they drive
themselves until they achieve and exceed their
targets. The rich instead of relaxing keep pushing
themselves on as there is a price to pay for being
wealthy. You will hardly strive if you are
comfortable.

7. The average seek money for power. The rich seek
money for control.

The rich know that money is a tool meant to be
controlled, for it is a lousy master but a faithful
servant. They want to put money under their
control, where it is meant to be, and not be
carried away by it. The average would like to
acquire wealth for the purpose of power it gives
them over others. This is why they fail to amass
it. Most of the wealthiest people in the world
control money and hardly look powerful.

8. The average would rather be entertained than
educated. The rich would rather be educated than
entertained.

The average hardly pay the price required to build
wealth — which is to continue getting educated.
Walk into a wealthy person’s home and one of
the first things you will see is an extensive library
of books they have used to educate themselves
to become more successful. The average would
rather read tabloids, novels and watch all forms
of entertainment on television, while the rich
gather information to make them richer.

9. The average believe that money will make them
happier. The rich know that money has little to do
with happiness.

Money won’t make you happier is not a
statement the average like to believe. There are
many stories of rich people being depressed and
committing suicide so it is a fact that money is
not the main ingredient for happiness. The rich do
not amass a fortune to be happy. Rather they do
so for the freedom it brings.

10. The average believe in financial scarcity. The rich
believe in financial abundance.

Those who are average believe the rich have
cornered huge chunks of the financial resources
thus leaving little or nothing left for them. They
believe money is difficult to earn and is scarce, in
stark contrast to the rich who believe that
resources are abundant if you just know where to
look. One sees scarcity thus making it a reality
while the other sees abundance and it manifests
in reality. You ultimately become what you see.

11. The average believe money is complicated. The
rich believe money is simple.

The average believe making money is a mystery.
Money making, rather, is a product of ideas and
creating value in the marketplace. Getting rich in
a free market economy is simply a matter of
trading solutions for money. The rich are not
smarter, luckier or more educated than the
average person. While the average tends to be
over-analytical on the subject of money, the rich
approach it like a child who honestly believes he
can do anything.

12. The average focus on pleasurable activities. The
rich focus on money-making activities.

The average individual’s appetite for pleasure is
substantial and they really focus their attention on
being entertained. The rich on the other hand
make money making their focus doing things they
enjoy. They turn their hobbies and passions into
money-making ventures. They derive pleasure
doing what they love and getting paid for it.
