I hope I didn't create a kind of division here.If I did,I'm deeply sorry.Maybe I shouldn't have expressed my views in the first place.I beg that we all keep our stands on the EYA issue under the pillow now,at least to avoid derailing from the original purpose that this thread serves. As a friend already suggested, those interested in the proposal should create a thread for it,where their drops of idea can become a stream. If Providence favours them, the stream can wash pessimism off the face of their dream and it will turn into reality.
I pray Jehovah grants everyone here the wishes of his or her heart.
Best wishes,
Sir Fidelis

Daginger: i believe this is all wrong. a newly admitted student should at this stage be thinking about settln down first, prepare for a new world of complex learning and dreaming of achieving gr8 goals by him/herself, before identifing a possible beneficial group/association[one that wont compromise your grades, name and life] to join. i am a freasher here in uniben. but from my experience in ekp, i believe wat is right is to start thinking of how to start our lives first rather than joining any association now.

Elite chummy: sorri pls
bt i dnt seem to make out any meanin from dis ur writeup,...cn u make it a bit comprehensible?
I'm sorry if you,Metaphycist or anyone else, found my write-up vague or ambiguous.Perhaps,an illustration would help lay my point bare: Agbo had passion for scuba-diving (which some may also call his ''interest'') before he gained admission. Now he has been admitted and finds out that nobody shares his passion.Would he join the association if it doesn't encourage scuba-diving? Would he not need time to develop passion for another activity which others enjoy?
Many of those who rush to become members now might lose interest later because of difficulties associated with acclimatization and locality's influence on interest and passion for anything. Please note that whatever I said is a personal opinion and should not be miscontrued as 'kicking against the plan'.I love Metaphycist's spirit (maybe of 'harambee') but I only questioned the timing of the organization(for,Metaphycist even said he had drafted the constitution)
EducationRe: Uniben 2012/2013 Session Admission Thread by SirFidelis(m): 4:41pm On Oct 13, 2012
Metaphycist: @Sir Fidelis
Rather dan say dey sud be given time 2 knw their "Passion n interests",say they sud be given time 2 understand d skul terrane n modus operandi.Cuz an individual is supposed 2 knw his/her passion n interests long b4 gaining admission. We'll chat in camera anyway. Tc
Passion and interest(not general) can spoken of in regard to a particular subject matter(which in this case is tied to the aims of the proposed association),if you are an advanced user of English.
EducationRe: Uniben 2012/2013 Session Admission Thread by SirFidelis(m): 2:23pm On Oct 13, 2012
@ Metaphycist: The objectives of your proposed association are quite laudable.Visions similar to those you expressed here have occured to me in the past (and they still do);they are worth any sacrifice to actualise. However,it is apparently too early to organise an association that embraces such diverse aims. These fresh students, who will form its integral part, need to settle down and recognize their interest and passion. Then, they will be more likely to become active members.
We can talk more about it on 2go.My username is stillfidelis.
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Happened To The Women On Nairaland? by SirFidelis(m): 4:22pm On Sep 25, 2012
shymexx: When I said 99% of the female posters on NL are not intellectuals/intelligent, a couple of people thought I was being cocky... undecided undecided

Most of the female posters on NL say things, I already know - we need some intelligent women on this forum... I visit a lot of forums and I see women hold their own in different subject matter - from politics, culture, foreign policy, military hardware, to sports. However, I'm yet to see that on NL, except last week when I saw Desola's back and forth with Gbawe. It's just shameful that most of the women on here only talk about celebrities, family, and romance - who cares about that??

I need some women up in here to stimulate me intellectually!!!

PS: Not kobojunkie's type of intelligence(pseudo-intellectual) - that thing just argues blindly with the same insane rhetorical crap... We need some female critical thinkers!!
I beg to disagree with you.In general, some females are quite intelligent and knowledgeable(even more than a few male Nairalanders, whose brains only 'work' when making prejudiced remarks). But,I must say that such females are hard to find here on Nairaland, though a handful of them are here.
