SOMETHING very surprising links Harry Kane, Lionel Messi, Edison Cavani, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Edin Dzeko and Das Bost. The strikers have scored 200 goals in their respective leagues – considered the top six in Europe. And they each were the top scorer for that league, with most hitting a phenomenal goal-scoring rate of one a game. But there is something that connects the six that none of the megastar strikers will want to dwell on. Despite banging in the goals each week, none of the strikers won their domestic league. Lionel Messi The Argentinean wizard netted a stunning 37 goals in La Liga but it wasn't enough to secure the title. Real Madrid pipped their bitter rivals to the trophy despite the Catalan club boasting a far superior goal difference. Harry Kane The Englishman retained his Golden Boot in the Premier League after a goal glut at the end of the season. But for a second season running he also failed to add a league winner's medal to his collection as this time Spurs missed out to Chelsea. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang The Borrussia Dortmund striker overtook Rober Lewandoswki to become top scorer with 31 goals in the Bundesliga. And while he could console himself with a German Cup winner's medal, the forward missed out on the league as Dortmund came third – and he is now off to Ligue 1 with PSG . Edison Cavani Cavani managed to find the net 35 times in Ligue 1 but that wasn't enough to fire PSG to the title. While teen starlet Kylian Mbappe might not have netted as many, his side Monaco were able to claim the league ahead of their Paris rivals. Edin Dzeko The former Man City star has had a second lease of life since making the switch to Serie A and has been in lethal form. The Bosnian scored 29 goals but Roma missed out on the title, as imperious Juventus came top thanks partly to a miserly 27 goals conceded. Das Bost Not only did Sporting Lisbon miss out on the title, they came third in the Primeira Liga. This was despite Das Bost's best efforts scoring a whopping 34 goals this season. The stat is in stark contrast to last year when Luis Suarez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robert Lewandowski and Jonas all topped the scoring charts and won the the title. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/618740/messi-kane-cavani-aubameyang-dzeko-bost-golden-boot-league-title-winner-video |

AT LEAST 35 people have been slaughtered in a brutal gun attack on a bus carrying Christians in Egypt, it has been reported. It is understood eight gunmen opened fire on a bus in the city of Minya in southern Egypt – around 245km south of Cairo – killing at least 35 and wounding 10. The head of the Coptic cultural centre in Cairo, Anba Ermia, confirmed the death toll to Egyptian news. The bus, which is thought to have been carrying around 50 Coptic Christians, was heading to Anba Samuel monastery in the city. Authorities have rushed to the scene of the attack to assess the number of casualties. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes after ISIS bombed churches in Tanta and Alexandria over Easter – killing 46. US officals in Cairo have warned tourists of an imminent but unspecified attack threat from the Hassm Group – a terror organisation with links with ISIS. In a statement, the US embassy said: "The Embassy is aware of a potential threat posted on a website by the Hassm Group, a known terrorist organization, suggesting some kind of unspecified action this evening." The death cult has been prolific in targeting Christians in Egypt and around the world in recent years. Christians have reported family members being killed on their way to work with shootings on the increase across the country. Ishak Ibrahim, researcher at the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, said: “What we are seeing here is new. There has always been violence against Christians but it was usually for a 'reason' like land disputes. "Now Christians are killed just for being Christians.” ISIS has also released a chilling propaganda video in which it threatens to increase attacks against Christians in Egypt and to “liberate” Cairo in a video released in February. The attack comes hours after the start of Ramadan which anti-terror experts fear will be hijacked by jihadists looking to cause carnage. This holy month sees Muslims around the globe fast from dawn till sunset to mark the month the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammed. But the peaceful occasion has in recent years been tarnished by evil ISIS followers who have used the month – and especially the first Friday – to carry out terror hits. The Egypt bus attack follows the slaughter of 22 people at the Manchester Arena on Monday. ISIS claimed responsbility for the atrocity carried out by suicide bomber Salman Abedi, who is suspected of having links with the jihadist group. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on the Federal Government to negotiate with those agitating for the creation of a Biafran republic out of the current set- up in Nigeria . Obasanjo said this at an event , tagged ‘Memory and Nation Building: Biafra 50 years later ’, which held in Abuja on Thursday. The event was held to commemorate 50 years of the declaration of an independent state of Biafra by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu on May 30 , 1967 . Obasanjo as the Commander , Third Marine Commando Division , was the military officer who accepted the surrender of the Biafran forces on January 12 , 1970 , after three years of war. However, the former President said the agitation for Biafra was like a woman complaining constantly about her marriage and threatening to file for a divorce against her husband. Obasanjo said in such a situation , the husband must pet and “massage” his wife to make her feel loved . He stated , “ I believe that the point must be clear . Nigeria must be loved and we must treat Nigeria as we treat love affairs . It must be massaged . Nigeria must be massaged by all of us . “It is like a love affair . If in a house with a husband and a wife and the wife says ‘ I am fed up , I am going ’ and every day, that is the song you hear , you will soon get fed up yourself as the husband and you will say , ‘ if you want to go, you can go ’. “But if there is any misunderstanding and you resolve it, and you find a solution , you will live together almost forever . I believe there is no substitute for holding Nigeria and massaging it as you massage love. There is no alternative and I will say we should even appeal. If anybody says he wants to go , it is not that you will say ‘you can go if you want to go’. Don ’t go! There is enough cake for each and every one of us . If what you are asking for is more of the cake , then ask for it in a way that is pleasant, not in a way that will make others feel you are not entitled to what you are asking for . ” Recalling his role in the Nigerian Civil War , Obasanjo said it was never the plan of the Nigerian government to exterminate the Igbo . He explained that everything that the federal troops did was in a bid to unite the country . Obasanjo added, “ We had in our pocket the Geneva convention to guide us . In addition to that , we had a special code of conduct. Third, we had foreign observers . We had people who were like umpires. “If it was a war to exterminate and we had no reconciliation in mind , what would foreign observers be doing? The foreign observers reported periodically and even had powers to investigate any allegation and they did.” Also speaking at the event , acting President Yemi Osinbajo said Nigerians must continue to strive for the unity of the nation . While delivering his speech , titled ‘Greater together than apart ’, Osinbajo noted that the civil war was a stain on the history of Nigeria . He, however , said it would be foolish if Nigerians passed through such a thing again. The acting President stated , “ Indeed the saying ‘experience is the best teacher’ is incomplete. The full statement of that Welsh adage is that experience is the best teacher for a fool. History is a better and kinder teacher. ” Osinbajo said the demand for secession was not exclusive to Nigeria but was also present in many western countries including the United Kingdom and the United States. He, however , stated that the answer to the problems of Nigeria goes beyond secession . The acting President said the diversity in Nigeria should be seen as a blessing because it offered manifold opportunities for greatness . Osinbajo added, “The most successful nations of the world are those who do not fall into the lure of separation but who through thick and thin forge unity in diversity . Nigeria is no different . We are not two or three but more of 300 ethnic groups between the same geographical space , presented with a great opportunity to combine all of our strengths into a nation that is truly more than the sum of its parts. ” He said Nigerians should never shy away from discussing the terms of our unity because debate was an essential aspect of democracy. The acting President added, “I fully believe that Nigerians should exercise , to the fullest extent , the right to discuss and debate the terms of our existence. Debates and disagreements are fundamental aspects of democracy.” http://punchng.com/obasanjo-calls-for-negotiation-on-biafran-agitation/

The Good Book itself The best argument in favor of Jesus as a once-living person is, of course, the Holy Bible itself. The Synoptic Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are thought by scholars to have been written by four of Christ's disciples in the decades after his crucifixion. There are still other Gospels, never canonized but written by near-contemporaries of Jesus all the same. Many details differ between the various accounts of his life and death, but there's also a great deal of overlap, and through centuries of careful analysis biblical scholars have arrived at a general profile of Jesus, the man. “Though a few books have recently argued that Jesus never existed, the evidence that he did is persuasive to the vast majority of scholars, whether Christian or non-Christian.” The following description, surmised from the Gospels, would be affirmed by most history scholars, Jesus was born sometime just before 4 B.C. and grew up in Nazareth, a small village in Galilee, as part of the peasant class. Jesus' father was a carpenter and he became one, too, meaning that they had likely lost their agricultural land at some point. Jesus was raised Jewish and he remained deeply Jewish all of his life; he never intended to create a new religion. Rather, he saw himself as acting within Judaism. He left Nazareth as an adult and met the prophet John, who baptized him. During his baptism, Jesus likely experienced some sort of divine vision. Shortly afterwards, he began his public preaching with the message that the world could be transformed into a "Kingdom of God." He became a noted teacher and prophet, as well as a healer: More healing stories are told about Jesus than about any other figure in the Jewish tradition. He was executed by Roman imperial authority, and his followers experienced him after his death. It is clear that they had visions of Jesus as they had known him during his historical life. Only after his death did they declare Jesus to be "lord" or "the son of God.

Christ's crown Before Jesus was crucified, the Gospels say, Roman soldiers placed a crown of thorns on his head in a painful mockery of his sovereignty. Many Christians believe the thorny instrument of torture still exists today, albeit in pieces scattered across Europe. One near-complete crown is housed in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The documented history of Notre Dame's Crown of Thorns goes back at least 16 centuries — an impressive provenance — but it doesn't quite trace back to A.D. 30. Furthermore, as Nickell points out, Notre Dame's crown is a circlet of brush, and is completely devoid of thorns.

The dead sea scrolls One of the most important archaeological finds that actually dates to the time of Jesus may or may not provide evidence of his existence, depending on who you ask. The Dead Sea Scrolls, a vast trove of parchment and papyrus documents found in a cave in Israel in the 1940s, were written sometime between 150 B.C. and A.D. 70. In one place, the scrolls refer to a “teacher of righteousness.” Some say that teacher is Jesus. Others argue that he could be anyone.

The lead codices Seventy metal books allegedly discovered in a cave in Jordan were hailed in recent weeks as the earliest Christian documents. Dating them to mere decades after Jesus' death, scholars called the "lead codices" (they're written in code and cast in lead) the most important discovery in archaeological history. Even BBC News stated: "Never has there been a discovery of relics on this scale from the early Christian movement, in its homeland and so early in its history." Christians took the books to be proof of the real-life existence of Jesus, because one page displayed an image of him. Nearby, a fragment of text reading "I shall walk uprightly" was interpreted by many as a reference to Jesus' resurrection — strong evidence that it actually happened, coming so soon after the fact.

Biblical blankets Perhaps the most famous religious relic in the world, the Shroud of Turin, is believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus. The 14-by-4-foot linen blanket, which bears the ghostly image of a man's body, has been worshipped by millions of pilgrims in a cathedral in Turin, Italy. Today, the Catholic Church does not officially endorse the Shroud of Turin as authentic, though many of the faithful, including Pope Benedict, have indicated that they personally believe in its holiness. A similar relic is the Sudarium of Oviedo, a blood-stained cloth that was supposedly wrapped around Christ's head when he died and which, since A.D. 718, has taken pride of place in a cathedral in Spain. Blood on the Sudarium is of type AB, common in the Middle East but not in Europe, leading many to believe it's the blood of Christ

Holy Hardware In a documentary called "The Nails of the Cross," set to air April 20 on the History Channel, filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici tells the story of two nails allegedly discovered in a 2,000-year-old tomb in Jerusalem. He presents circumstantial evidence that seems to suggest the rusty relics once nailed Jesus to the cross. The tomb in which the nails were found is believed by some to be that of the Jewish high priest Caiaphas, who presides over the trial of Jesus in the New Testament. "If you look at the whole story — historical, textual, archaeological — they all seem to point at these two nails being involved in a crucifixion," Jacobovici says in the film. "And since Caiaphas is only associated with Jesus' crucifixion, you put two and two together and they seem to imply that these are the nails." In 1911, English liturgical scholar Herbert Thurston counted all the nails that were at that time believed to have been used to crucify Jesus. Though only three or four nails (the exact number is up for debate) were supposed to have pinned Christ to the cross, 30 holy nails were being venerated in treasuries across Europe. Along similar lines, enough wood chips from the "True Cross" – the cross on which Jesus was crucified – are scattered across Europe to fill a ship. In some places, there are large fragments, as at the Holy Chapel in Paris, at Poitiers, and at Rome, where a good-sized crucifix is said to have been made of it. In brief, if all the pieces that could be found were collected together, they would make a big shipload. Yet the Gospel testifies that a single man was able to carry it."

Jesus Christ may be the most famous man who ever lived. But how do we know he did? Most theological historians, Christian and non-Christian alike, believe that Jesus really did walk the Earth. They draw that conclusion from textual evidence in the Bible , however, rather than from the odd assortment of relics parading as physical evidence in churches all over Europe. But from fragments of text written on bits of parchment to overly abundant chips of wood allegedly salvaged from his crucifix, how do the physical evidence of Jesus' life and death hold up to scientific scrutiny. |

AT least 19 people have died after an explosion at an Ariana Grande gig at Manchester Arena. It is believed that an explosion went off in the foyer of the arena. GMP confirmed there have been 19 deaths so far and around 50 people have been injured. Police are treating the incident as a terrorist attack. A statement from the police read: "There are a number of confirmed fatalities and others injured. "Please AVOID the area as first responders work tirelessly at the scene." The MEN is reporting that Wythenshawe Hospital is expecting "mass casualties". Harrowing pictures from the scene show people rushing away from the concert at the packed arena and injured fans being treated. Videos from inside the arena show frantic people running to try and escape the venue. Police helicopters are currently circling the area. Another device was found in the nearby Cathedral Gardens and a controlled explosion took place. Witnesses describe a "massive bang" as people were leaving the show – triggering people to flee the arena. Helen Mongomery wrote: "Genuinely felt like an earhtquake. Hope everyone is ok." Greater Manchester Police have warned people to stay away from Manchester Arena as officers respond to an "incident", amid reports on social media of an explosion. Oxford Road station has been closed while the incident is ongoing and passengers have been evacuated. One fan at the concert described how the explosion hit the venue as fans were leaving the building. Majid Khan, 22, said: "I and my sister, along with a lot of others were seeing Ariana Grande perform at Manchester Arena, and we were all exiting the venue when around 10.40-10,45pm-ish a huge bomb-like bang went off that hugely panicked everyone and we were all trying to flee the arena. "It was one bang and essentially everyone from the other side of the arena where the bang was heard from suddenly came running towards us as they were trying to exit Trinity Way and that was blocked so everyone was just running to any exit they could find as quickly as they could. "Everyone was in a huge state of panic, calling each other as some had gone to the toilet whilst this had gone off, so it was just extremely disturbing for everyone there" http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/616485/manchester-men-arena-ariana-grande-bomb-explosion-concert"

Game Of Thrones spoiler: You'll never guess who Jon Snow beds next GAME Of Thrones fans can't wait for the new series to start So, look away now if you don't want to know – you've been warned.!!! Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, is one of the show's biggest fan favourites. Last season was a dramatic one for him, what with coming back to life and then taking over as King of the North. Not bad. However, things get a lot more saucy for the star in season seven. An insider has told "me" that the curly headed hunk hooks up with none other than Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke. Lucky guy right?
