Zico5:All these ones na small pikin talk. Jonathan lost election and in spite of all the threats, nothing happened. You think it is Fubara that any Niger Delta youth will risk his life for? Please stop reasoning like a child, that is if you are not one. |
You can not beat Wike at this game. I guess the governor and his coterie of bad advisers did not see this coming. They have been boasting that they will conduct the LGA election no matter what may. Now see how Wike crashed their dreams. For those that do not know, these resignations (and I hear that there will be more) mean that RSIEC is now not properly constituted. Those who resigned have to be replaced before they can organise an election and all nominations as commissioners of RSIEC have to be screened and cleared by the House of Assembly. Now use your tongue and count your teeth. The fact is that Governor Sim is like a dog who, being painted with stripes, thinks himself a tiger and challenges the lion to a duel. A more astute politician would have lobbied these Assembly members to his side. This I have advocated on this platform several times and as far back as 2023. But he allowed himself to be deceived by Falana, Ugochinyere and co. |
When will all these Nigerian newspapers stop brown envelope journalism? Instead of reporting the news as it is, they want to hoodwink gullible people that it is the Damagun led NWC that issued the statement instead of a faction of the NWC. So the Publicity Secretary, who is on the other faction, can now issue a statement for the NWC even when they didn't meet and it will be reported as a statement of the Damagun led NWC? Sorry to burst your bubbles but those celebrating this news are merely engaging in premature ejaculation. The NWC did not issue that statement and the newspaper that reported it knows. |
Femi Falana, Ugichinyere and their cohorts were merely deceiving Governor Sim for their own selfish benefits. The right strategy for Sim would have been to lobby those Assembly members over to his side. I said this several times here and as far back as November 2023 that the strategy of fighting the Assembly men would backfire. Where are those over sabi people that were misinterpreting our constitution then? |
The House of Assembly has given the Governor a safe landing by asking him to present the 2025 Budget without mentioning the 2024 budget and nullifying all the appointments made through the illegal three man assembly. But will Governor Fubara seize this opportunity to move the state forward or will he place his ego above the interest of the state? |
The crisis in Rivers State came to the public burner when the House of Assembly attempted to impeach the Governor of the state, Sim Fubara. However, keen observers know that the surprising frosty relationship between the Governor and his godfather, former Governor Nyesom Wike predated the infamous impeachment notice. The Assembly chambers was burnt in a futile attempt to prevent the Assembly from sitting. One thing led to the other and President Tinubu eventually intervened to broker a ceasefire. That is where Fubara won the war. The intervention of the President has ensured that he would no longer be impeached and it is most likely that he would spend his constitutional four years tenure as Governor. The whole war was about the seat of the Governor and from all indications, he won't be removed any longer. Without the intervention of the President, knowledgeable people in the politics of the state know that Wike would have impeached the Governor. Constitutionally, he has all the arsenals to achieve it. On top of keeping his seat, the crisis has afforded Fubara the opportunity of untangling himself from the choking clutches of his godfather. There are stories of the almost inhuman conditions he was made to operate as Governor. Stories of how Wike remotely controls everything in the Government House, even to the point of determining who should and not visit the Governor, abound to those who have their ears to the ground. Most despicable were stories of how he was being disrespected by his own appointees. Clearly, that can not be the case anymore especially as he is no longer on talking terms with his godfather. Fubara is now finally in charge of his government. Anyone in Fubara's shoes should have seen these as victory and cease to fight. He should have stopped his dispute with the Assembly where he has only 4 out of 31 members. I thought he would be more interested in getting the Assembly to reverse the suspension of his 4 supporters so that they can resume to sit with their colleagues. He needs those his 4 supporters in the House rather than out of it. At least, they can be his eyes and ears in the House. There is no need in continuing a losing battle in the Assembly when he has already won the war. But Fubara is not being strategic in managing the victory. On the surface, it looks like he is being reconciliatory but that is far from the truth in reality. He is the one now taking battles to the other side. He should have avoided being spurred on to fight on and go for the jugular of Wike. These later day supporters are not leading him on because they support him. In fact, most of them did not support him during the elections. He is their darling today because they see him as a tool through which they can destroy his godfather. Some are seeing this as an opportunity to get into the government and cash out. Some have tried desperately to make it look like an ethnic war between the Ijaws and the Ikwerres. They know their motives. Fubara should know better. He should know the motives of these emergency supporters leading him to continue battling when he had already won the war. He should play the right politics now that will bring the crisis to a manageable level so that governance does not continue to suffer. He has won the war for the seat of Governor and liberated himself from the clutches of his godfather. But listening to war mongers and urging him to go for the kill might put his victories in jeopardy. In politics, one must learn to choose his battles wisely. https://www.nairaland.com/7938508/rivers-crisis-gov-fubara-already Note: I did this piece on the 12th of December 2023. I thought that the Governor would have been more strategic and lobbying the Assemblymen to his side instead of taking the fight to them. I predicted that it was a losing battle he was fighting with the Assemblymen. What will the people urging him on to continue fighting the Assemblymen instead of lobbying them say now? |
where in this report did the lawmakers threaten anarchy? It is a pity that Femi Falana has allowed himself to be reduced to this low level of wilfully spreading lies and fake information that he knows to be fake. I don't just get it. Is Falana that hungry? Gani Fawhenmi would be shaking in his grave by now. You don't even have to be a lawyer to know that with the withdrawal of his appeal by the Governor and the subsequent dismissal of the appeal, the judgement of Justice Omotosho is now law. That judgement has settled the question of who the rightful Speaker of the Assembly is. Any action contrary to that judgement is in contempt of the Supreme Court. |
This judgement will most likely be upturned by the Appeal Court. |
123readygo:Do you know how many men are suffering from HPB from their non-virgin wives? |
I don't doubt that Annie is in rehab considering that she is bipolar and susceptible to emotional swings. She might even be suicidal right now. However, no one should use her state to emotionally blackmail Tuface. Annie get bad character. Everybody that knows them know this. The fact that she had been with Tuface way before the fame and fortune does not mean that she is a good wife material. She is definitely not especially when she goes on her numerous emotional swings. How many times have Tuface ran away from home to avoid her? What is baffling is that Tuface knew Annie very well but decided to marry her. That is where Tuface messed up big time. Or was he thinking that she would calm down with the security of being Mrs. Idibia. Or was he seeking for public validation, going into a marriage he knew would be toxic from the onset? It is even surprising that the marriage lasted this long. Most of the people commenting and judging online do not know anything about this couple. Even for some of the bloggers that know, at the end, it is all about clout and likes. |
Why is there so much emphasis on showering praises on Matawalle in this story? |
hatchy:Continue daydreaming. A matter that is already at the Supreme Court and they even sat today and adjourned till 10th February. Nothing is going back to Rivers State courts. |
mikeapollo:Who owns the primary school teachers? They are employed by the various states primary education boards and so should be paid by the states. The federal government owns universities and secondary schools too in the states. They do not ask the states to pay their salaries. The teachers in the states primary schools should be paid by the states. I believe the local governments would also establish their own primary schools and pay their teachers too. This also applies to the hospitals and health centers. |
ddippset:You don't even know what is happening. The federal high court had already given judgement in favour of the 27 lawmakers since January. And until that judgement is upturned, which is unlikely, they still remain lawmakers. That is the position of THE LAW. |
ddippset:No matter how clear it may look, only the legally recognised speaker or the courts can declare their seats vacant. None of that has been done yet. |
Kukutente23:See how you are fooling yourself? You said Ubah did not lose his seat because the Speaker ignored it, yet you claim that losing of the seat is automatic. You are pathetically helpless. No need trying to educate you. |
Kukutente23:You are the biggest mumu in this space. Only you say losing their seats is AUTOMATIC. Do you know the meaning of AUTOMATIC? Only you now say the Speaker is supposed to declare their seats vacant. If an action is required by the Speaker, is that AUTOMATIC? All the Labour Party legislators that have defected since last year, which of them lost their seat? Why didn't Senator Ifeanyi Ubah lose his seat, Mister AUTOMATIC. It is this kind of mumu interpretation by mumu people like you that has put Governor Fubara in this quandary. See as people you claim have lost their seats succeeded in withholding the federal allocations of the state. The law does not bend to your mumu interpretations and that is why the law still recognises them as members until the courts say otherwise. |
ddippset:So who is constitutionally empowered to determine if truly there is division in their party at the national level? Is it not the courts? Until the courts say otherwise, are they not still lawmakers? I wonder hoe people think their own interprettion of the constitution is superior to the interpretation of the courts. |
Kukutente23:You should rather keep quiet. if SHALL means automatic, why then did the constitution provide a process of losing the seats? The same constitution provides that the Speaker shall declare their seats vacant which means they cannot lose their seats until their seats are declared vacant by the Speaker. If this is your intepretation of AUTOMATIC AND IMMEDIATE, your school fees were wasted. The same constitution also allows defection by members who have crisis in their political parties. Everyone who defects claim that there is division in their party. So what should happen? Who should determine if truly there was division in their party or not, if not the judiciary? This cavaet should not have been there if it was AUTOMATIC AND IMMEDIATE as canvassed by day dreamers like you. |
It is people like this Elder Edwin Clark that are misleading Governor Fubara. Where in the constitution did it state that members will IMMEDIATELY AND AUTOMATICALLY lose their seat if they defected to another political party? Are the Rivers lawmakers the first people to defect in this country? I expected him to mention just one example of a lawmaker that immediately and automatically lose his seat upon defection. Even after the Rivers lawmakers, several lawmakers have defected in this country. Which of them lost their seat IMMEDIATELY AND AUTOMATICALLY? This is where Governor Fubara shot himself in the foot. As long as no court of competent jurisdiction has declared their seats vacant, those guys are still members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The failure to recognise this fact is what has led the Governor to make so many mistakes in breach of the constitution. |
I am not surprised with what the Libyans did. This is not the first time they, and other North Africans, are doing this to visiting African teams. Their objective was to secure a walk over and three points over Nigeria as they did to Enyimba a couple of years ago or force our players to play the match with extreme exhaustion. They planned all these even before they came to Nigeria and that is why they orchestrated all the drama in Nigeria to provide a justification for their evil act. Libya is not a rival to Nigeria and not a threat to our qualification, so Nigeria had no motive to treat them badly in Nigeria. They purposely made it difficult for themselves and the NFF in their travel plans. It is a shame that some Nigerians are justifying the evil acts of the Libyans with the false claims that we did it to them first. These Nigerians are very unintelligent as they cannot reason properly and see through the charade. Any reasonable person will condemn this evil act unequivocally. Diverting a plane that is already descending to a faraway airport is a very dangerous thing to do. This is beyond mind games, and it is the part that surprised me; that they could go to that extent of risking the lives of our contingent to achieve their aim. What would have been the reaction of these Nigerians if that plane had crashed? |
There is no doubt before the law that Martins is the rightful Speaker of the House of Assembly. The Appeal court had already made this clear in a previous judgement. That is why they berated the Governor today for disobeying the orders of court. Rivers State has no budget so far as far as the law is concerned and that is very worrisome. Something big will happen in that state soon but it will surprise only those who have been reasoning with emotions. |
InfoGuru118:Lazy journalism. The Edison group were four suspended lawmakers, and not five. Now, they are three, illegally sitting and illegally recognised by the Governor in defiance of a previous judgement of the Appeal Court. |
too predictable. |
so will they be praying that he gets a lot of customers? |
eteforlor:Did Finidi tell you that he was waiting for an apology? The coach was only responding to the questions that journalists asked him probably during the post-match press conference after the Bendel Insurance vs Rivers United match. Most of you guys are so annoyingly and arrogantly ignorant about how these things work. Reading his response, you can tell that he has moved on and even suggested that Osimhen should be left alone. That said, Osimhen should have used the opportunity of the international break to apologise and end the matter since we now know that Finidi never said the things Osimhen was insulting him for. He is loved massively by Nigerians. I was at the stadium on Saturday and it was evident that Osimhen is the darling of Nigerian fans. But he shouldn't let that love or popularity get into his head. |
All these confusion in the Labour Party were caused because of the blind support Abure got from Peter Obi and Alex Otti when the issue started between Abure and the NLC. They gave legitimacy to Abure's Nnewi convention when they did not speak against it and even sent representation to attend. The arrow has already left the bow before they could smell the coffee. If they cannot persuade Abure and his exco members to step down and allow for a new convention to take place, I am sorry there's nothing else they can do other than to leave the party for Abure. |
You already know that the right thing for you to do is to end your unhappy marriage, but you are merely looking for validation. My advice to you is to do that which your heart seeks. This life is too short. Now that you don't have children, it is best for you to move on. Otherwise, if you procrastinate further and children come, it might become more complicated. Trust me, it is extremely difficult to take the decision to pull out of a marriage with children. |
I smell a stunt here to promote Dami Krane's new album. |
damosky12:There is no inferiority complex when you recognise that you are not doing something well or as well as others. It is a challenge for you to improve. If you say the original poster has an inferiority complex, you too can be said to have a backward mentality for saying that your Pastor do not need to account for the monies collected in church. Why then do you expect your political leaders to give account for the monies they receive? Why not extend the same trust you have in your pastor to your political leaders? |
completeskills:I hold the same assumptions as yours. I think that was what transpired and I suspect that all the parties involved already know the truth. The employer is in a big mess unless he has connections directly with the IGP. |
DrAda:Where did you see me mention Tinubu abi your eye dey pain you? Imagine her appointing faculty liason officers when there are faculty Presidents and Excos Imagine her appointing a SA on sports when the SUG has a Director of Sports You can go on and on. It beats me how a reasonable person can defend her but this is the Nigerian leaders of tomorrow for you. |
