VisaOfficer:
Good morning everyone,

Well, I'm off to the airport with the cats to catch a flight to my next assignment. Thank you for three wonderful years in Nigeria! I wish you all the best. Good luck with your visa journeys -- and remember, just tell the truth, and if you qualify for the visa, you'll get the visa.

Sincere gratitude and much love to Justwise. He does so much behind the scenes to keep you all safe from scammers and nogoodniks. You're very lucky to have him here!

Again, best wishes. Take care and be kind to each other! kiss kiss kiss

cool
Thanks VO, safe journey and good luck with your new assignment! smiley kiss

@ sisitadun , so my dear did you later get it from the Local govt council where you were born and did they acknowledge it ?
Yes, they accepted it, along with the sworn affidavit by my mom. I suggest you call and speak with them to know exactly what applies to you.
Good luck

It sounds like they didn't receive (or like they misplaced) your NPC birth certificate, not like they wouldn't accept the one you sent. I'd send another NPC certificate. Sorry for the delay..
Visa Officer,
NVC does not accept NPC birth certificate. This issue held me up at NVC for a couple of months, and they didn't budge. They quoted something from a USCIS gazette about births before NPC, they expect a birth certificate from the local council, or Lagos Birth Registry, if born in Lagos. A few people have experienced this issue also.
I called to find out exactly what they want and they specified that they require the letter of certification that one's birth was registered with the local government, along with an affidavit from a close relative, preferably the mother.

In this context "I'm afraid" is just a way of expressing polite sorrow while giving someone bad news. It doesn't mean I'm actually afraid of something. Is the phrase not used that way in Nigeria?
Just to say thank you again for making the time to answer questions and enlighten the public about US government policies and processes on immigration. You have answered questions with professionalism and with so much courtesy, even repeating answers to questions you have treated previously on the thread, and polite responses to posts that come off as rude.
I wish you success in your personal life and in your career. Keep up your radiance and free-spirit. You have brought smiles to our faces, given hope when things seemed hopeless and sunshine into our hearts.
Thank you, thank you and thank you!

Stopping by to say Hello and Thank you for your good work.
My Transitions Program starts today and I just thought to say hi. smiley
Have a happy 2015 and best wishes in all your endeavors.
By the way, I found that old picture where you were looking "unnaturally" stern, cool , it was in a 2013 news feed when the US Consulate was announcing Nigeria's ineligibility for the DV Lottery Program

Dear VO, thanks for your response, however, every case complete that have seen from lagos has interview within the waiting period of 40days. i have not seen any October case complete that has 60days waiting period. I have indeed hoping to have xmas or new year with my wife and kid. NVC supposed to have completed my case the first or second week of october. The dec 30th (two months) date really breaks my heart.
Sisitodun: Hello!
Got my appointment today. My case was completed on the 29th of August, interview scheduled on 2nd of October (after 34 days) for 25th of November. So waiting time from Case Complete to interview is about 85 days. Phew!
The waiting times are long these days. Don't despair, you are almost there.

VisaOfficer: I just heard from NVC: They've completed October scheduling. So, the next available appointments will be in November.
Good morning, our ever radiant V.O.
Sisitodun is here to bother you again.
I heard from NVC that there are no more available interview dates in October, just as you said. embarassed
I want to ask if it is okay to use my valid B1 / B2 to travel in October to sit for my licensing exam. I've been preparing for the exam for a long time, and I want to get it over with.
I hope it will not pose any problems at the POE as I would be in the US for just 2 weeks. I have so much at stake and would not overstay or violate any law.

VisaOfficer: Greetings!

NVC hasn't contacted us asking if we can take additional cases in October yet - but if they do, we'll definitely take them. If your case is complete and they don't schedule it in October, it sounds to me like it would be scheduled in November, rather than making you wait until 2015. That's my supposition, anyway. I tell you what: When I hear from NVC about October (either asking us to schedule more cases or telling us they don't have more cases for us) I'll let you know.

Fingers crossed!
Thanks V.O, fingers crossed cool

Hello the Radiant One,
I finally got a "case complete" at NVC on the 29th of August. I called today and I was told they are still waiting for feedback from the Consulate in Lagos to schedule an interview.
Is it possible to have an idea of how long it might take to get an appointment? It is an EB2 by the way, and I wish to know if an October date is possible. I understand appointment dates may not be moved/changed/expedited, I just wish to know if I could continue to prepare for the exam or I should just relax till 2015.
Thank you.

VisaOfficer: Greetings! You asked whether we will reduce IV wait ...But there's nothing we can do, out here, to make things faster back there, or to cut wait times...

That's probably way more information than you were looking for. smiley
Thanks for your prompt and detailed response. I was not asking if you could influence their wait times though. I was asking if you would take on more cases because of their backlog. It is comforting to know you take on more, if you are asked. Great job!
You have enlightened me and answered my questions.
Thanks once again for the outstanding work you are doing here. There's no other place where one could have found such genuine information. I'm grateful.

Good morning, the Radiant One,
I had to register again due to the data loss.
I got a notification from NVC that the new wait times for documents review is now at least 60 days. This has added at least 2 weeks to the normal wait time of 20 business days.
I wish to know if you are aware of this(I realised it is a general notification), and if it will have any impact on the scheduling of interviews at the Consulate. By this I mean if that delay will be considered and IV interview appointments wait times will be reduced. I am asking because my prospective employer paid for my licensing exam in October(last date for 2014) and I was hoping we would have been through with all processing by now since we got our I140 approved since Feb.
I'm also curious to know if you group all IV interviews together or you have slots for different categories. E.g DV, IR, EB, K visas, etc.
Thanks for your time ma'am
