It's not new that you don't need to be technical to be the boss but it's also good to know the business in and out to lead the business. Why? Because na who wear shoe know where e de pain. I learned from one of my bosses earlier in my career because he was a jack of all trades. I later realized that he wasn't but he knew about every aspect of the business. You couldn't lie to him. He did not need to be an expert in the field but he had an idea and that idea I realized took him far. People were afraid of him because of his intelligence but when they left he will just smile because the edge he had over them was that he understood how everything connected. Unfortunately, in the real world, it's not always the smartest that lead, they are the doers and the olodos then lead what they know nothing about. The problem with intelligence is that it is not cowardice so those who are intelligent find it difficult to be asslickers. The asslickers get promoted easily because they can easily turn their back for oil to be dropped on it. The intelligent guy will analyse why the oil is necessary and he is not born a slave. Yes men get promoted easily, sycophants get ahead quickly because many of them lack principles and intelligence. At the end of the day, they also have a type of intelligence. Social intelligence. It's what makes them cunning and seize opportunities to climb on the pyramid. The intelligent guy says the truth too often and is unaware that we live in the world of truthful lies. Keep playing the game along. Enjoy your freedom. Don't put too much of emotions in work. You are not your work. Play the game but don't worry about the losses. It's not objective, it is highly subjective. Never give them the power to define you. Never. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WabD6tGz-Dc

There is no way these guys are not working with the government. No way. 416 is the population of some towns. C'mon!!! A lot of Nigerians have been desensitized to the point that as long as it's not them, prayers are with you all. Should I blame them? Boko. Has been terrorizing us since 2009.

The Iranians are not backing down for two reasons: 1. USA has shown that it cannot be trusted because US struck first while negotiations were ongoing and that has taught Iran that never again will they trust someone who says they are peaceful but their actions are warring (worrying). 2. Trump has abused all his allies and threatened Greenland? In fact, Greenland gave NATO the final greenlight not to support Trump in his war because he acted like an Emperor. If he can do this, they have been proven right on what they suspected. He cannot be negotiated with. If he can do this to Iran, why can't he do this to them? They already see how he treated Ukraine. 3. What is there to lose? Iran has been tested with death of their leaders and they are still united. It is now showing that the Western propaganda that once you eliminate the leader, you solve the problem is a lie. It is not only a lie, it is a cover up for their faux democracy. Where they want to remove the person who blocks them from exploiting resources. Anyone who stands for his own people is not liked by US. US said they went to save women from tyranny but they bombed school girls. I see the supporters say all Iranians are terrorists. Okay, let's agree they are. If they decide to use their bodies as a human shield, isn't it better to die for something than die for nothing? Are you telling me that the government is forcing them to sacrifice their lives? Can you do that for your own country? How many Americans or Nigerians today can die for their country? I don't blame them for that move, you can go ask the Japanese and the Vietnamese. US is blood thirsty, what difference does it make if they die on the bridge, in the tunnel, near energy infrastructure or at home? At least, all die na die. Better to die a martyr in their own eyes than die a coward. They are also telling us they stand for something and they mean it. I remembered the Nigerian youth who were at Lekki Toll Gate when I saw that news of Iranians occupying their bridges, ready to die. War unites a nation and just as Israeli PM and Trump are using this war to dodge accountability in their respective countries, it has done the same thing for Iranians. Those who oppose the Iranian government will now defend the government, not because they love it but because it is something of honor given the way the US has trash-talked them. They won't watch someone from outside rape them and kill them and claim to be their friend. They still have sense. Even when you hear the ones opposed to the regime talk from abroad, they tell you how they are concerned about their families back home. None of them is stupid enough to say thank you Mr Trump for killing my people. None. Many of you are forgetting that in this scenario, Iran has been under sanctions for years. Let's wacth and see how US gets humbled. The war has shown its not by might as cheap Iranian drones are more cost efficient than expensive American artillery. The Cubans are watching too. What are the Nigerians going to do? |
I hope Nigerians are reading this and taking note that these people don't see you as friends. They see you only as a tool, don't be a fool! https://www.tiktok.com/video/7518085683878087992 |
There are too many Dr Mo's now o. I initially thought it was the UK Dr Mo. Then I thought it was Dr Mo of Ebony Life. Now I see Dr Mo of...... You guys can use Tinubu's words against him. Very simple. He has published all his works and thoughts as a "democrat". Simple game. I like the last one where he says "Everyone claims to be democratic but not everyone is faithful to his or her word. We have governments that are democracies on paper, but not in function. They are democracies in form but not in substance. We have governments that only know democracy primarily through breaching it" ~ words on marble by Jagaban Asiwaju BAT ![]()

SmartPolician:You're misreading someone’s character based on a single stance. This is why some people don't think Sowore for example will be a good leader. He may be good at calling out what is wrong but Mugabe has shown us how critics can become their own worst critic. Not everyone who criticized the military meant good. Not everyone who criticizes Democracy or the government of the day also means good. We have 1. Context-dependent judgment: this is where something looks looks right in a case. 2. Group loyalty or identity signaling: ADC, APC, ACN, CPC, NADECO, nPDP, Obidients, PDP, SDP and any group can make people go under an umbrella. If you notice that everyone in the diaspora chooses Sowore, people in the diaspora will choose it. That's why a lot of people protested against subsidy. The opposition saw the sentiment and organized people into a group. A group can stand for a good cause but not every member believes in it. Some cannot think for themsleves. We had Save Nigeria Group that protested the alienation of Jonathan when Yar Adua was sick still protest in OccupyNigeria in 2012. Yet when the members of this group joined government, they clamped against protests. I personally do not do groupthink because things are never in a static state, they are fluid but your principles will always be constant. So the question is, what were/are Onanuga's principles? 3. Outcome-based reasoning ("I support this because I like what it leads to" ) People take advantage of situations to be on the popular side. People read the room. It is what we call alignment. Some people e plot situations because they know what the result will be and this makes for the last one which is event justification ("I chose X, so I’ll explain it in a way that sounds consistent" . I don't need to explain this but some people have been patching their stories just to sound consistent. They want to build a story. We all change in life and we only assess information based on the information we have or what we know. People can acknowledge where they made a mistake or even explain why they did what they did. Popular examples are Tai Solarin and Wole Soyinka working for government. Someone can preach the right way of doing things but that doesn't mean they consistently believe in those values, they wouldn't justify the same behavior if ABC did it or they aren't just reacting emotionally or situationally So later, when they flip or contradict themselves, it feels like betrayal but really, the mistake was assuming they had a stable principle in the first place.

AlphaTaikun:You have a good point. We don't even talk about these things for us to start intellectual dissection of origin and conclusion. We just brush it up as if the history does not matter. How do the people then have aspiration and inspiration if they don't know what their forebears did? You see how they insult themselves here and cursing their own race. That's why each side on this forum takes delight in abusing themsleves 🤡 The Iran VS US/Israel thread proves it further as our people know the history of the Arabs and Europeans than they know of themselves.

Parachoko:You shouldn't. We have too many data points and it's unnecessary. Don't forget why they brought BVN. Just last week, INEC too wanted to revalidate our PVC which will render it from being permanent. Nigeria needs to fix its ID system and stop doing it in silos. Minister of Interior will have his own idea, CBN Governor his, Finance theirs, Defence theirs etc. Have you thought about someone who does not live in the country and has a BVN? |
Powerful women. Excellent ideas. When our women take up matters, we just have to act. They should do more of this as the Abeokuta and Aba women did on governance matters. https://www.againstcronycapitalism.org/wp-content/uploads/people-power-cc.png[/quote |
There is nothing like that. The problem is that we do not appreciate our culture and history. Do you know that markets are connected to the Oba? The Iyaloja is a member of the King's cabinet and the King gets to know the feelings of the people through what the market women say? Our mothers worked and earned without problem until the British colonialists came to destroy our system of government. It won't happen in Igbo markets because historically Igbo don't have the same system but the story of Funmilayo and aba women's rights should have taught Nigerians some lessons about who they are. Alas! Our society has been destroyed by Western ideas and some people who call themselves feminists without knowing who they are will say their fathers are misogynistic and all that nonsense. They don't know how powerful their mothers were before oyinbo came to destroy what they had. Now the oyinbo are contaminating their minds the way they did in the west to make them compete with men instead of us working together as a society. Everyone had their roles, both men and women. The same British called our fathers idiots for giving their women so much freedom such as Iyaloja!!! They did not allow women participate in their own democracies, today women are looking for crumbs to eat in that thing they call percentage whatever. They are begging the Presidents to give them space. How foolish can Africans be! Do your own research on why we had the aba women riot and the Abeokuta riot, all led by women. Even in Black America, women were tired of being lied to because they saw white massa sleeping with them and giving them false hopes. women are protectors of the society. Today I saw one boy on Nairaland who said a woman without 500k should not get married. women in Nigeria have been raped off their power and deceived with feminine rights by oyinbo who make them hate their ancestors and love fake oyinbo rights. The women did not take a careful study of how these oyinbo gave their own women rights and when. Before you reply me, if you choose to reply me, listen to Prof first and reflect on who we historically are. If you don't know your history, you will repeat the mistakes of the past https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4hZ2DmS0bk [/quote |
Repost Aba Women's Riot of 1929: A Turning Point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddDdh1sxztw The Aba Women’s Riot of 1929 happened mainly because of unfair taxes and the extension of colonial authority over women. The British tried to impose direct taxes and give warrant chiefs more control, but market women in Aba protested since they had no voice in government decisions. Tens of thousands of women joined strikes and demonstrations, even attacking colonial offices, to resist being taxed and controlled unfairly. The revolt forced the British to rethink taxation and local administration, making it a turning point in Nigeria’s colonial history and showing the strength of women’s collective action. The people are very comfortable with corruption. In the UK and US, politicians who raise taxes can lose elections because voters hold them accountable, but in Nigeria, taxes are 🇳🇬

Repost. I used riot too 🙈👇 Reposted from the thread: No Tax If You Are Earning Below ₦800k Annually https://www.nairaland.com/8591409/no-tax-earning-below-800k/3#137990000 I just need to break this down here because what you don't understand you will keep being misled. A tax is money the government collects from people, businesses, or things you buy, to pay for public services like roads, schools, hospitals, and electricity. Many Nigerians think only people with salaries pay tax because income tax (PAYE) is very visible, it comes straight off your paycheck. But in reality, everyone pays indirect taxes whenever they buy goods, fuel, food, use electricity, phone, or travel. The “hypocrisy” comes from the fact that government talks about income tax more because it’s easy to track, while indirect taxes are hidden in prices, so it feels like the poor or informal workers aren’t paying anything when they actually are. What annoys me is the japa people that go abroad and yap about taxes. They want Nigeria to have the same western style. If you play with taxes abroad, you'll be shown the way out in the next election and you should also understand the white man and why he does things in a way. When you understand their history, you'll know why we are not the same. Some countries really do not charge personal income tax at all meaning residents don’t file annual income tax returns like in the UK/US and don’t pay tax on their salaries. Examples include United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Monaco, Brunei and Vanuatu, among others. These countries still get money for government services through oil, trade, fees, or other taxes, not by taxing individual salaries. Do the maths and tell me one thing in common Nigeria has that some of these countries have. These countries fund government spending through other sources such as oil and gas revenues, corporate taxes, import duties, fees, tourism income or VAT/sales taxes, instead of taxing people’s income directly. You need to get off this obsession with the west and trying to be like who you are not. This is the miseducation of the average African. Don't forget that in Aba and Ogun State, Women fought the imposition of taxes by the British. Many Nigerians don't even study their history. You should go and read why they didn't want the colonial government collecting taxes from them. Historically, Western heavy taxation grew partly from scarcity and because they needed money to fund armies, wars, infrastructure, and administrative systems. Land and resources were limited, populations were growing, and scarcity of money made taxes necessary. Scarcity also came from their harsh climates, poor harvests, and limited technology, so the state had to extract more from people to survive and provide basic service, sunlike in some African systems, where wealth was shared communally rather than extracted as formal taxes. When you look at it today, the concept of Black Tax is because in Africa, we share the resources with the rest of us Ubuntu style. Learn why things are the way they are. Today, I see people teaching financial wealth and I laugh when they want us to copy westerners and their form of selfish indiduvual finance. The Aba Women’s Riot of 1929 happened mainly because of unfair taxes and the extension of colonial authority over women. Femi Kehinde, author of A Short Stroll Along History Avenue, brings history to life as he revisits the fearless activism of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, a woman who redefined resistance in colonial Nigeria. In this interview, he recounts how Funmilayo mobilised the women of Abeokuta to rise against unjust taxation and challenge the colonial power structure. The revolt, a powerful act of defiance, ultimately led to the exile of the Alake of Egbaland. Through Kehinde’s narration, we see how one woman’s courage reshaped the course of Nigerian history. The Abeokuta Women’s Revolt: When Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti Rewrote Nigerian History https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyvTtYrZTAk? History tends to repeat itself when the people don't learn from their past. The day Nigerians wake up to know their rights and why the government cannot just squander their money, they will wake up. |
It should be called a protest, not riot. And Nigerians need to learn from this history, especially as it was due to taxes imposed by the British Now, women should pick their lessons from their mothers. These women were independents women who did not need to be EQUAL to men to hold their own. Many of you think they were oppressed but these women knew the role of a man and the role of a woman. They didn't fight some misguided fight. In fact, women had money than men because they were their own bosses. The British knew this and wanted to steal from their pie. Now, look at modern women today. They go work for an unknown stranger, climbing the career ladder in a company that your father has no shares in 🤡 Women wake up. They deceived you. Empowermemt scam.
