It’s always the best politicians and those that has political consciousness and patience that laid strategies. Others act hurriedly without any plan in desperation and hunger to grab power and get relevance at all cost. The latter doesn’t last long, even if the former failed. Another strategy will be implored until desire goal is achieved or they will continue to strike until they exceed their last resort before given up. Even after that, there will always be an underground move and waiting for available opportunity to strike. After the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President and the chairman of 8th Assembly, a lot has been said with different theories and various degree of injuries were caused as a result of mudslinging and character defamation. We do hope that the wound will be allowed to heal without having super imposed infection. And that would have been easy if the Code Of Conduct case would be settle outside court. For someone to fully appreciate what political grudges or grievances was, one must be able to understand the difference between toying (manoeuvering) against betrayal (treachery) in political context. To kowtow a fellow, one needs to toy with him but to inveigled a person, you must betrayed him. With that knowledge, one may be able to come into conclusion that whether Saraki’s case was politically motivated or not, but it’s crystal clear to those with open eyes if not open mind that there is an element of witch-hunt in that case. History has shown that there are stages that are being taken by strategist in other to block unwanted element from emerging and if it subsequently emerged, there are steps to be taking so as to clipped it wings. Now the big question is, who are those that are after Saraki and would they be able to proceed after CCT trial? Customarily, strategist first used “moral ground or god fatherism” to stop any unwanted politician from emerging. Had it been that APC successfully used moral ground like zoning to stop Saraki, or the purported meeting called by Mr president at international conference centre was held, The emergence of Saraki as senate president may not be possible. Even though the LikeMinds group have seen it coming therefore ‘boycott’ or claimed ignorance of such gathering which was organised by the party bigwigs in order to used the influence and charisma of president Muhammadu Buhari to decide who get the leadership of the 8th Assembly. The emergence of Bukola Saraki as the Senate President necessitates the furthering of the second step which is “blocking resources or clipping wings”. Immediately after APC decide to work with the leadership of the 8th Assembly, a phenomenon called party supremacy and queuing with party policy was initiated which aim to clip Saraki’s wings but that didn’t come to be as the sizable number of the senate passed vote of confidence on their leader. Third step; Calumny/Propaganda campaign. This must tally with the growing trend at that moment and must be something that will quickly get people attention. Like when patriotism was paramount in Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was accused of being a traitor and he was jailed to end his era. Prior to the formation of APC, tribe and religion was used to blocked President Muhammadu Buhari from getting Nigerians acceptance by depicting him as tribal bigot and religious fanatic. That’s why its laughable to those that know history, the attempt of some media wit to trace Saraki antecedents with Kano and Danfodio’s empire in order to make him loss relevance in the eye of Yoruba race. The idea of using tribe and religion was exhausted on PMB and it can not be used recently. With growing concern over the issue of stopping corruption and other corrupt act by this administration, the resurgent of Saraki’s family Bank case and the alleged false assets declaration stuff, the strategist has now get something to ridicule the dignity and prestige of Sen. Bukola Saraki. It’s hard for one to escape this stage because of its intrigue and twisted nature. When it became apparent to vested interest that the issue of religion and tribe will no longer stop the candidacy of General Muhammadu Buhari with APC in the saddle, they had to move to the next step which is “Threat” and that was believed to be the reason behind kaduna attack on Buhari’s convoy. Most of the assassination cases of politicians and leaders alike, are those that were able to scale through the bundle of calumny and propaganda campaign. My problem is not for Saraki to win or lose at Code of Conduct Tribunal because either way there will be a demanding consequence, but let the matter be settle out of court because the next step will be very difficult to handle in terms of witch-hunt as there will be a lot of groan under the weight of political bigwigs. The future wistfulness can be aborted if the grievances will be wipeout. Note; Threat is the 4th stage while Creating fifth column is the last resort. Sabiu Zaranda wrote from Bauchi. The Scene of the BUK blast that killed about 20 people including two professors Augustine Effiong, 25, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, who is popularly known as Abubakar Garba said on Monday that he helped carry out deadly attacks on April 29 at church services in the old campus of the Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and admitted belonging to the extremist group, Boko Haram in his confession to police. The State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris who disclosed this in a press statement made available to reporters said that, Mr Effiong had confessed to be one of those behind the attack on Christian worshipers at BUK. Mr Effiong, though an indigene of Akwa Ibom was born and brought up at Maiduguri before he later converted to Islam. The police said, “he has been transferred to Abuja for discreet investigations”. The command said Mr Effiong was arrested over an attempt to murder a civilian at Danlasan Village in Warawa Local Government Area of Kano state. During the preliminary investigation, the suspect, a resident of Bulunkutu Abuja Quarters in Maiduguri confessed to have relocated to the Kano state last April. “He confessed to have participated in a series of attacks, killing of policemen and military personnel in the state (Kano), including the recent attack and killings in Bayero University Kano (BUK),” the police said. Attackers with bombs and guns opened fire at church services at BUK last month and killed about 20 people including two professors as worshippers tried to flee. “I was involved in the attack at BUK,” he told reporters in Hausa. He further confessed to being part of a “20-man killer squad” charged with targeting the security services around Kano. Boko Haram has repeatedly targeted the security services in Kano and has claimed attacks that have killed more than 1,000 people since mid-2009. “I killed many people, including five soldiers at checkpoints,” in Kano, Mr Effiong said. http://www.channelstv.com/2012/05/21/im-a-member-of-boko-haram-i-attacked-christians-at-buk-augustine-effiong/ |
The former Catholic school student was believed to be in Syria - before it emerged he was killed in a major police raid in northern Paris Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected mastermind behind the Paris attacks, died during a major police raid in a northern suburb of the French capital. Officials confirmed Abaaoud was the target of the operation that developed into a siege in St Denis on Wednesday, as more details emerged about the man thought to have arranged the shootings which killed 129 people on Friday night. Now a prominent member of Isis, Abaaoud first travelled to Syria last year - but seemingly not out of any great religious motivation. "He did not even go to the mosque,” his older sister Yasmina told the New York Times earlier this year. Like many who travel to the so-called “Islamic State”, his actions appear to have been motivated more by a thirst for power, violence and unaccountability. Who was Abdelhamid Abaaoud, mastermind of the Paris attacks? Abaaoud, in his late 20s, was born in Belgium and grew up in the Brussels suburb of Molenbeek, which has become a key focus for investigators in recent days. He briefly studied at an exclusive Catholic school, before either dropping out or getting expelled and drifting into a life of thievery and drugs. Abdelhamid Abaaoud boasted of his escape from authorities in Belgium following a failed terrorist attack in an interview published in Isis' propaganda magazine in February. According to his family, the young man showed much more interest in petty crime than Islam, and they were shocked when he took his 13- year-old brother Younes with him to travel to Syria in January 2014. After he was trained and further radicalised in Syria, Abaaoud was able to return to Europe via Athens. He was picked up by European security services and reportedly even stopped by police but let go, after which he disappeared. Officials identified the suspected mastermind as Abaaoud, a Belgian of Moroccan origin in his late twenties. In February, he gave an interview to the Islamic State English-language magazine Dabiq which suggested he was in Syria. In the interview he claimed he had travelled to Belgium to "terrorise the crusaders waging war against the Muslims". He also claimed a police officer who stopped him had failed to recognise him even after his picture had been sold to the media. He said: "I was even stopped by an officer who contemplated me so as to compare me to the picture, but he let me go, as he did not see the resemblance!" Abaaoud claimed he was able to travel “safely” back to Syria when it suited him. He said: “I was able to leave and come to Sham (Syria) despite being chased by so many intelligence agencies. “All this proves that a Muslim should not fear the bloated image of the crusader intelligence. My name and picture were all over the news yet I was able to stay in their homeland, plan operations against them, and leave safely when doing so became necessary.” Abaaoud is believed to have had links to previous foiled terror attacks in France, including one on a Paris-bound high-speed train that was thwarted when passengers overpowered a gunman in August. He was thought to have been involved in the attack remotely from Syria – a theory thrown into doubt by this week’s developments. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/abdelhamid-abaaoud-everything-we-know-about-the-paris-attacks-mastermind-a6738776.html

President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is worthy of a bold mention in the Guinness Book of Records. The NFF boss said this on Monday in Santiago as he boarded a flight to Buenos Aires on the way back home from a success story at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile. According to a post that appeared on the NFF, Pinnick said: “Yes, it is a success story as you just mentioned, but it would not have ended that way without the great support that the Nigeria Football Federation continues to receive from the President Muhammadu Buhari –led Federal Government. “In fact, the Nigeria Football Federation is dedicating this triumph to President Buhari. He is a man of history. He was there when the first set won the trophy in 1985 as military Head of State; now he is here as civilian President when the Class of 2015 emerged victorious. Seriously speaking, I don’t think there is any Head of State or Government in the entire universe who has this honour, and for this, our PMB deserves a place in the Guinness Book of Records.” Pinnick, whose one–year administration can now point to successes at the African Women Championship (Namibia 2014), African Youth Championship (Senegal 2015) and now the Eaglets’ triumph (aside qualifications for several major tournaments), insisted on Monday that the masterstroke for the Eaglets’ confident and determined approach was President Buhari’s call to the team a day earlier. “We appreciate the President for sparing time out of his very tight schedule to talk to each and every player and official. That was a massive motivation. At the end of the conversation, the players told me they would go all out and give whatever it would take to win, having been inspired by the country’s leader. “Football is a potent and huge tool for national unity and the focus of the present NFF administration is to build a sustainable football culture for our country. Triumphs are good, but we must not overlook the sustainable culture. ” The NFF President assured that his administration would be strongly involved in the players’ development, unlike what happened in the past. “People have talked about monitoring the players. We would do more than that. We would be part of their developmental programs and seamless transition to senior categories. “We are very happy with this victory because it gives us the opportunity to present to our dear PMB his first global crown on his return as civilian President.” Pannick, a member of the Organizing Committee for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, and who joined the dignitaries to hand out the medals in Vina del Mar on Sunday, hinted that the NFF already has other targets in its immediate radar. “Of course, we are celebrating. But I can tell you that our focus has already shifted to the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal. It is important that we earn a ticket to the men’s football tournament of next year’s Olympics in Brazil. “We will give Samson Siasia’s squad all the support to win the ticket. And of course, we have also concluded arrangements to ensure the Super Eagles defeat Swaziland in the race for the 2018 FIFA World Cup starting with the first leg in Lobamba on Friday,” said Pinnick, as he congratulated the U-20 women national team, Falconets, for earning a ticket to the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after beating South Africa’s Basetsana on Sunday. http://thenationonlineng.net/buhari-deserves-place-in-guinness-book-of-records/

Exactly eight years ago, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state, and Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, now governor of the state, were best of friends. By “exactly eight years ago”, I truly mean October 26, 2007. Just one day earlier, the supreme court had declared Amaechi governor of the state, saying he was the rightful candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having won the party’s primary, rather than Celestine Omehia, whom the party fielded. At the time, Wike, as chairman of Obio-Akpor local government and national president of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), greatly supported Amaechi’s campaign. They were buddies. So happy were they that after Omehia was booted out of office, Amaechi appointed Wike his chief of staff – a position that governors traditionally allot to their most trusted ally. Fast-forward eight years later and both men would not just see eye-to-eye. It was Amaechi who nominated Wike for ministerial appointment under the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan. But after Amaechi fell out with Jonathan and left PDP, Wike chose to side with not his old boss but his new one. Although both men have been at daggers drawn ever since, it is only in 2015 that the real battles have been fought; and so far, it is Amaechi who is having the upper hand. 2015 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, 1-0 As a minister in Jonathan’s cabinet and as a Rivers state governorship aspirant under the PDP ticket, Wike staunchly opposed the candidature of APC’s Muhammadu Buhari, whose campaign was spearheaded by Amaechi. With Buhari polling a total of 15,424,921 votes ahead of Jonathan’s 12,853,162, not only did Nigeria have a new, Amaechi secured his first victory over his former ally-turned-enemy. MINISTERIAL NOMINATION, 2-0 Life is full of ironies. Or how does one explain that the chief antagonist of a ministerial nominee is the same one who once became a minister on the recommendation of the current nominee? Amaechi nominated Wike to be minister when he was governor, but Wike has been the most vociferous opponent of Amaechi’s ministerial nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari. To Wike, Amaechi is too corrupt to be minister. Once, he branded his predecessor the most corrupt public office holder . “If Buhari is sincere in his fight against corruption, let him probe the Amaechi’s government and he will discover that there cannot be a government official that is more corrupt than Amaechi,” he said through Opunabo Inko-Tariah, his special adviser on media and publicity, shortly before the president released the first list of nominees. Of course, Amaechi had unkind words of his own, once describing Wike as a man who would betray his mother for money. “Nyesom Wike loves and worships money; he can betray his mother for money – nothing more, nothing less,” he had said two days before the election that Wike ‘won’. At some point, it did seem Amaechi would not even be screened by the senate, much less emerge a minister. Time after time, his screening was postponed following allegations of corruption to the tune of N70bn by Rivers state senators. Finally, on Thursday October 22, Amaechi was screened. Although George Sekibo, a PDP senator from Rivers, has warned that it is a thing to be screened and another to be confirmed minister, Amaechi, based on the reception he enjoyed at the screening, can count on his confirmation later this week. In any case, to have been screened alone is itself one more victory over his tormentor-in-chief. Two nil. RIVERS GOVERNORSHIP TUSSLE, 3-0 This is not closed yet, but it is quite some drama. Wike must have thought he had pulled one victory over Amaechi, whose candidate, Dakuku Peterside, he outwit by 1,029,102 votes to 124,896. In Nigerian politics, victory at the polls is hardly the real victory; almost every election loser goes to court, and the winner never really emerges until the legal options have been exhausted. Now, after the first legal option, the election petition tribunal, it does seem Wike has a massive battle in his hands. The tribunal has nullified his victory at the polls, and ordered fresh elections within 90 days. Jubilant Amaechi knows he has secured his third straight victory over Wike. But then, like it does happen in a game of football, even a three-nil deficit advantage can quickly be overturned. In doubt? Ask the Saudi ’89 Flying Eagles, who were losing four nil to the Soviet Union as at the 61st minute, only to score four goals in 23 minutes before going on to win 5-3 on penalties. Perhaps Wike will recover in due course to show Amaechi that the servant can, at times, outshine the master. But, for now, it’s Amaechi 3 – 0 Wike. https://www.thecable.ng/half-time-amaechi-3-0-wike |

Lekan Abayomi, New York I was born in 1975. I grew up believing that the Hausa/Fulani of Nigeria were a very intolerant ethnic group of people. That the Hausas were so wicked they simply picked on Igbos in Nigeria living up North and slaughtered them in droves. And that the unprovoked massacre of Igbos in the North prompted the Biafra secession event, which again resulted in another Hausa Muslim leadership-led slaughter and genocide of Igbos in the South. I believed for the first two decades of my life that the Hausa Muslims for no reason despised Igbos so much and that they ruled Nigeria almost entirely throughout its 50 years post independence, never giving an Igbo an opportunity to rule. I associated Military rule and Military coups with Muslim Northerners. I even associated the North of Nigeria with Islam and the South with Christianity. ‘Roughly divided’ between the two, as I always read in the news. Little did I know that I was wrong in almost everything I grew up reading from the Nigeria predominantly Southern press, and European media. They say that had Hitler won the war, history today would have been written in his favor. Perhaps the one great mistake the Hausa-Fulani-Kanuri and all Northerners ever made was not getting involved in western media, press and propaganda. No Beef Till ’66 Igbos draw first blood in 1966 All was going well in Nigeria, post 1960 independence, with Tafawa Balewa, aka, the golden voice of Africa, the Prime minister of the federation, and Nnamidi Azikiwe the commander in chief and president, till January 1966. In January 1966 an Igbo Major in the Nigerian army, Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu, who was born in Kaduna and had such family affinity to Kaduna, that he was popularly called, ‘Kaduna Nzeogwu’, a Catholic by faith decided to embark on a mission that will change Nigeria’s history forever. In the early hours of January 15th, Kaduna Nzeogwu disgruntled over a list of items with the ruling political class and with disdain for certain regionalists, led an army of fellow Igbo Majors and a Yoruba, Ademoyega Adewale, in a military coup against the political leadership of Nigeria. He and his team of Igbo comrades murdered Nigeria’s top brass Hausas in that Coup. Prime minister, Tafawa Balewa, a federal minister and two top regional premiers were among those murdered. Kaduna Nzeogwu’s Igbo squad killed he premier of the Northern and Western regions but of course left the Igbo Eastern premiere alive. He killed the Finance minister, who was Nigeria’s #3 man, but left the number #2 man. The coup started failing when the ethnic nature of it was noticed. Neogwu confronted Captain Isong , the second-in-command at the 1 Recce Squadron, on account of a rumor that Isong was allegedly spreading in the barracks about the ethnic coloration of the unfolding events. Azikiwe was left alive. In essence Kaduna Nzeogwu’s coup was not a coup against the establishment only, but a targeted ethnic war, waged by himself and his fellow Igbo patriots against the Hausa- Fulani, who he grew up and served with. Nzeogwu assassinated very many top Northern brass. Included and very significant was the Sardauna of Sokoto who was shot dead with his wives too. In the video below, late Kaduna Nzeogwu describes how he plotted the coup and killed the Sardauna. Wikipedia- The killing of Brigadier Ademulegun’s pregnant wife by led to the suspicion among Yoruba and Hausa that the coupist were common criminals rather than Nationalistic patriots. Brigadier Ademulegun was a Yoruba officer. The premier of the Northern region was killed, The premier of the West was killed, but the premier of the Eastern region where most of the plotters were from was forgotten. On the Federal level the Prime Minister was killed, the Finance Minister the number 3 man was killed but the number 2 man who “coincidentally” happened to be from the same region as the plotters “escaped the killing”. The kid glove with which the new leader Ironsi handled the coupist led to the dissatisfaction of northern officers with Ironsi’s reluctance to courts-martial the coup plotters led to the counter- coup of July 29, 1966 which was led mainly by a group of junior Hausa-Fulani officers. The coup plot failed and just before midnight on January 16, following a complex series of events, the GOC of the Army, General Aguiyi Ironsi, also of Igbo origin, preceded by a short statement by acting President Nwafor Orizu, announced that he was taking over the country following an “invitation” from the Council of Ministers. Brigadier Ademulegun was shot dead in his bed, head of the NMTC Colonel Ralph Shodeinde was killed. Ifeajun in high treachery murdered his boss, Brigadier Maimalari. The Igbo victim was, Lt-Col Arthur Unegbe. Also killed was the highly unsung Itsekiri Finance Minister Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh. It is important to pint out at this juncture, that Nigeria had been very peaceful. A progressive, ethno-harmonious place, with the only riots of note being some election turmoil in the western Yoruba region of the country and Tiv riots in the Middle-Belt. Up until this time there was no major Hausa-Igbo beef. There were episodes pre-independence, during colonial rule, triggered by the machinations of colonialism, these included the minor 1945 Amalgamation riots and the 1953 Igbo Military and political power predominance riots. The colonialist gave Igbos top positions in the Military. Indeed, over all it must be noted that the prime source of Nigeria’s ethnic disarray is colonial. ‘Nigeria, made in the UK’, they say. Sardauna Was Premiere Of North Only: It’s Stupid To Expect Him To Talk Of One- Nigeria During The Three Region Federalism That Existed At The Time Important to mention that Sardauna is often mispresented. Sardauna was not a leader of Nigeria but was only leader over the northern protectorate. So his statements were about his northern region, just as at the time Ojukwu made even more seditious statements about the eastern region he presided over. Sardauna’s utterances must be listened to in context of the then true Federation with three autonomous parts. Next Blunder- Aguiyi-Ironsi Dissolves Regions You see, growing up, I have blamed the Hausas for so much. May the Almighty forgive me. Today the South of Nigeria are heard loudly clamoring for a return to autonomic regions. You are want to believe that it was some Northern Muslim that dissolved this. No. The Igbo top commander and now first military president of Nigeria, General Aguiyi Ironsi, in a very careless and thoughtless move, aimed at suppressing the Nzeogwu ethnic coup sentiment and distrust, in his brief six months of reign, dissolved the regions. So we ask the question- why did Aguiyi Ironsi dissolve the regions and create a Unitary republic? This according to World News.com was ‘in a bid to do away with the divisive tendencies of Regionalism.’ At this stage, we can conclude the following- 1. An Igbo man, Kaduna Nzeogwu embarked on the first ethnic identifying campaign for power 2. Same Igbo man, led the first provocative and very painful attack and assassination of top brass Hausa men. 3. An Igbo man disrupted our political beginnings and introduced us to the military rule aberration. 4. Another Igbo man, General Aguiyi Ironsi clearly recognized the ethnic danger provoked by the former. 5. The second Igbo man destroyed Nigeria’s regional rule and initiated the Unitary republic. Evidently, the industrious Igbo did not like Regionalism, this is why they (Nzeogwu and Ironsi) killed the Northern and Western regional Premiers and abrogated the three regions, instituting a one-Nigeria to enable free Igbo entrenchment and trade outside the Eastern region. Deadly Mischief: A Loaf of Bread Draws Second Blood It was in May, during Aguiyi Ironsi’s reign that the first of what is known today as anti-Igbo riots occured. According to the story, an Igbo bakery made a loaf of bread, depicting Nzeogwu as the Saint in the ‘Saint George and the Dragon’ medieval crusader story, from the 7-11th century. Advance our standards, set upon our foes Our ancient world of courage fair St. George Inspire us with the spleen of fiery dragons….. Richard III. act v, sc.3. ” “ Come not between the Dragon and his wrath….. King Lear. Act I, Sc 2 – William Shakespeare This depiction was highly provocative to a welcoming Hausa-Fulani, still licking their wounds and being hospitable, after an unprovoked Igbo led military coup and assassination of their finest. This also while Nigeria was bleeding from being thrown into its first military government era. The military went on to rule the nation for 13 straight years. As I was saying, the loaf of bread had Nzeogwu as Saint George, standing over and killing Sardauna, who was depicted as the bleeding dragon. This triggered the first inter-ethnic crises in the North. Igbos fled to the East, and returned only later under guarantee of their safety by president Ironsi. Some say mischievous secessionist Igbos orchestrated the pogroms to get their people home. Later that year, in July, General Murtala Muhammed, taking advantage of the precedent, led a very bloody, 4-day coup and overthrew the Ironsi Government. At this stage, Igbos in the north were highly targeted in outbreaks of ethnic violence. Thousands were reportedly killed, though the numbers can not be verified. And this was the episode of the Igbo exodus to the South. I guess we can call this 3rd blood. Listen To Mischievous Seditious Igbos Plotting Similar Provocations On Radio Biafra Today Biafra: Nigerian Civil War (1967– 1970)- The Truth I am not going to get into so much history. The history, we should all search for and study. All I will highlight are the misnomers: The Biafra dream was not decimated by a Hausa Muslim. It was decimated by no other than General Yakubu Gowon, a Christian Middle Belt Nigeria, who hailed from Panshin, Plateau state. Yakubu Gowon was the ‘compromise’ Christian Middle Belt leader put in place by the North as a palliation after the bloody years and coups prior. He was chosen as an attempt in good faith to foster peace between Nigeria’s ethnic and religious groups. It was Yakubu Gowon and his then military general, again another southerner, and two time president of Nigeria, southern General and Christian, Olusegun Obasanjo that destroyed the Biafra secessionist, treason campaign. Since then, no Igbo has held the reigns of power. This is of course not surprising, it is the simple rule of victor over vanquished. When the Arabs lost in their 6-day war- attempt to sack European installed Israel in Arab Palestine, Israel automatically annexed Arab lands. The Golan heights of Syria and the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt. When Japan lost the second world war, it gave up its right to have a military. In like fashion, after the Igbo’s first attempt and bloody coup to overturn the equilibrium in multi-ethnic Nigeria’s civilian rule, and after they lost in their second attempt, the Biafra secession, bloody campaign, it is not surprising that they have not yet been put in a position of power, because the rest of Nigeria for the right or wrong reasons is afraid of them, maybe. Time to drop the hatchet There is no reason for continued hatred and distrust. Many do not even know why there exists the bad blood between these two prominent groups, but obviously some desperate forces are taking advantage of a sour history to invoke religious and ethnic hate and sectarian strife in Nigeria, with ultimate goal- the disintegration of Nigeria. Churches being targeted in the North are an obvious dirty game, being orchestrated purposefully to invoke sentiment and chaos. Among those caught planning, arming and involved in the bombings under the auspices of Boo Haram, are Nigerians of all ethnic groups, religions and regions. In an article I read on MuslimsAgainstTerror.com , written by Aliyu, so many Christians and Southerners have been caught in failed ‘Boko’ bombing attempts. Some suspect that some extremist Biafraites with foreign meddlers are secretly behind Boko Haram, in a new attempt and sinister technique to enable secession. The Igbo’s and the South is as suspect as the North in this deadly game, and attempt to provoke discord among ethnic groups. Little surprise Boko enjoys unbelievable impunity and success while lacking any clear or logical manifesto. No region stands to loose more form Boko than the North. Recently listed as the best part of Nigeria to conduct business (10 Easiest States to Do Business in Nigeria), now tumbling down the corridors of deeper suffering, poverty, insecurity and at risk of being cut off from the coast. As described in Reuters report on the last Sunday bomb attacks and subsequent Christian youth rampage in Kaduna, Boko are being allowed to win in their obvious goal- to foster sectarian strife and disintegration in Nigeria. This is all so senseless. Are we going to let Boko win? Everybody, chill! Now let me give you some teasers: Do you still believe Nigeria is roughly torn North and South between Muslims and Christians, as the colonial media keeps promoting? You will be surprised to find that some states up North may even have more Christians than Muslims. Do you know that most Yoruba states are governed by Muslims? Do you know that the leader of MEND, the Southern rebellion group, is a Muslim, named ‘Jihad’, Mujahid Dokubo Asari. Do you still believe that Nigeria was ruled most of its years since independence by the Dan Fodio, Northern Muslim? Will you experience shock if you read my previous paper on ‘the illusion of Northern rule’, and find out that Christians and the South and Middle Belt have ruled Nigeria the most or at least as much? Did you know that the north occupies 80% of Nigeria’s land mass? American televangelist and pastor, Creflo Augustus Dollar, threw the internet into a frenzy when he claimed that Jesus Christ died for ‘financial prosperity’. The 53-year-old Bible preacher and financial prosperity ambassador took to his social media on Wednesday, October 7, to display to his followers that Jesus also agrees with his financial philosophy. He posted “Jesus bled and died for us so that we can lay claim to the promise of financial prosperity. #ProsperityInChrist #WealthyLiving #AbundantLife” and some of the comments which followed were awry. Some of the commenters mocked the televangelist due to the fact that the update does not in anyway agree with orthodox Christian teaching. This is one is the most obvious and blatant statements of Creflo’s prosperity beliefs in recent times. The televangelist had first got everyone talking when he asked his church members to donate $65m so he can buy a private jet to spread the gospel. He is in the news again for saying Jesus died so that everybody (including himself) can enjoy “financial prosperity.” The controversial posts were quickly deleted from his Facebook and Twitter pages, but not without it being already screen-grabbed as seen above. The prosperity preacher is known for his controversial interpretation of the Bible. Examples from Dollar’s teaching include the following, “The Bible says that wealth is stored up for the righteous (Proverbs 13:22, New American Standard). However, it will remain stored up until you claim it. Therefore, claim it now! You possess the ability to seize and command wealth and riches to come to you (Deuteronomy 8:18). Exercise that power by speaking faith-filled words daily and taking practical steps to eradicate debt. Like God, you can speak spiritual blessings into existence (Romans 4:17). Remember, doubt keeps silent, but faith speaks!” Sometimes, he implores people to sow into ministries like his so as to get huge blessings. “You can say, ‘Oh, God, I need money! The rent is due. The baby needs shoes. And what about my breakthrough?’ But if you haven’t sown financial seed, how can you expect a financial harvest?” Dollar is known for his controversial teachings regarding prosperity theology, or the gospel of wealth. He has long been criticized for living a lavish lifestyle; he owns two Rolls-Royces, a private jet, and real estate such as a million-dollar home in Atlanta, a $2.5 million home in Demarest, New Jersey, and a $2.5 million home in Manhattan, which he sold for $3.75 million in 2012. Dollar has refused to disclose his salary. https://www.naij.com/608766-jesus-died-money-popular-pastor.html/?odunayo
