As Nigeria celebrate her 55 Independence anniversary on Thursday, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the Federal Government to immediately return the Arabic Ajami script removed from the nation's naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Director of MURIC Prof. Isiaq Akintola made the call on Wednesday in his independence anniversary message to felicitate with the government and Nigerians. "We call for the reinstatement of the Arabic Anjami which was removed from the naira by the last administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan after subterranean pressure from some unpatriotic religious leaders. Nigerian Muslims regard the removal as an act of hostility taken to spite Muslims. We consider it as a step taken to satisfy a section of Christians who had been secretly agitating for the removal of Arabic graphics from some official emblems used in Nigeria. "We see the removal of Arabic from the naira as absolutely unnecessary and an action taken by Jonathan to spite Nigerian Muslims. We hereby state without any fear of contradiction that the use of Arabic as part of the graphics on our emblems does not in any way portray the imposition of Islam or its landmarks on Nigerians. This is so because Arabic stands parri pasu with English graphics wherever the former is used. “English graphics represent Westo- Christian civilisation while Arabic graphics symbolise Islamic culture. Those who insist that Arabic must be removed from our emblems nurse an agenda of domination by elimination," Akintola said. He said that whoever insists on the removal of Arabic Anjami from the naira and from other emblems must accept the equal removal of English graphics from the same materials, adding that after all English is the language of the Bible as it is known in Nigeria and it is on the nation's naira and all other emblems. He added: "By the way, apart from massaging the ego of Goodluck Jonathan and satisfying the narrow interest of Muslim-haters, what has Nigeria gained from removing Arabic from the naira? We appeal to the Federal Government to redress this wrong." http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/independence-fg-urged-to-return-arabic-ajami-to-naira-notes/113115.html

Chris Brown has said that he is tired of the devil ruining his life. In a recent Instagram post, the award-winning singer blamed the devil for trying to ruin his life. He also talked about thoughts of suicide and claims he’s heard God speak to him for the very first time. Here’s exactly what he wrote:“When u tired of the fucking devil ruining your life and u hear God speak for the first time. No one knows what I deal with on a day to day. The average man wouldn’t hesitate to blow his fucking brains out but that’s the cowards way out… Most won’t understand the genius and beauty in change and learning and the people who have devilish intentions will win in the short term. My soul will always What’s on the surface always looks like one big party but inside there is a little boy looking for help and guidance. People say “be a man”. Yeah, that’s right but it doesn’t take away any pain you really go through. I just wanna stay out the way and do music. Most importantly and great father. I don’t have any more patience for anything that will cause me to self destruct!!” This guy needs all our prayers and support. He was a young boy when all ‘these’ started and the devil deceived him. Chris, the good news is your soul was already bought by the blood of Christ even before you went into any evil pact. The bible says that “even the lawful captive shall be set free.” In Isaiah chapter 49, verses 24 & 25, the New Living Translation says: “Who can snatch the plunder of war from the hands of a warrior? Who can demand that a tyrant let his captives go?” “But the LORD says, “The captives of warriors will be released, and the plunder of tyrants will be retrieved. For I will fight those who fight you, and I will save your children.”” This means if your choices have put you in a bad place, when you SINCERELY ask God for help, He will come to your aid. Read Psalm 121…declaring it into your life as you wake up each morning. David found his way back on the right path once when he felt lost. And there was one night, I had an encounter with a strange and powerful demon. The Lord whispered the same psalm into my ears to use as a weapon. Yes, I won the battle. I’ll say a prayer for you everyday brother, and I’ll encourage others to do same. Hang in there. http://www.viroshare.com/celebrities/chris-brown-says-hes-tired-of-worshipping-the-deviland-god-spoke-to-him/

Customs Comptroller-General, Hameed Ali has requested for the files of serving Customs officers found to have been involved in corrupt practices in the past with a view to determining their fate over the next few days. Ali, who formally resumed duties as the new Customs boss on Thursday said that President Muhammadu Buhari gave him a three-point mandate to reform, restructure and boost Customs revenue. “The mandate he has given me are three basic things: go to Customs, reform Customs, restructure Customs and increase the revenue generation, simple. I don’t think that is ambiguous, I don’t think that is cumbersome. It is precise and I believe that is what all of you are here to do,” Ali told Customs officers in Abuja on Thursday. In fulfilling the mandate, SHIPS & PORTS DAILY gathered that Ali, over the weekend, in addition to demanding for the files of top officers of the NCS especially those from the ranks of Comptrollers and above, also reportedly enlisted the support of the Department for State Security (DSS) to investigate top Customs officers especially Customs Area Controllers, Assistant Comptroller-Generals and Deputy Comptroller-Generals to track down their wealth and property across the country. “It goes beyond sacking them. Many of them will forfeit illegally acquired property to government in addition to losing their jobs. Some will also be prosecuted. It is the beginning of a new era in Customs. It can no longer be business as usual,” a source at the Presidency told SHIPS & PORTS DAILY. The source said President Buhari was particularly concerned about high level of corrupt in the NCS and the perception that “Customs is one of the most corrupt agencies in the country”. It was also gathered that a mass purge is imminent in the Service as part of efforts to carry out the President’s directive. It was also gathered that the past Customs Comptroller-General, Dikko Abdullahi’s tenure will be probed with a view to recovering lost revenue. Ali has also reportedly directed the implementation of zero tolerance for smuggling, underdeclaration and Customs duty evasion. “Any importer or agent found culpable for any of these acts going forward will be prosecuted. No more slap on the wrist as it used to happen in the past,” a Customs officer who did not want his name in print told SHIPS & PORTS DAILY http://shipsandports.com.ng/ali-goes-tough-sends-dss-after-corrupt-customs-officers/ Lalasticlala

Pesident Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Aburi, Ghana reassured Nigerians and the international community that he will name his cabinet before the end of the month. President Buhari gave the assurance at a joint press conference with President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana. “After I was sworn-in, I said I will have my cabinet in September. I expect that Nigerians should ask me questions after the 30th of September if I do not do so,” President Buhari said while responding to a question on the appointment of ministers. President Buhari also told reporters that the Nigerian military, in close collaboration with the Multi-National Joint Task Force, has recorded remarkable progress in the fight against Boko Haram since he assumed office as President. “The first thing I did after I came into office was to reorganize the military and clear orders were given to them in terms of retraining, re-equipping and redeployment of troops. “In the northeast, the military is gaining ground and Boko Haram has been limited to the Sambisa forest. “Internally Displaced Persons are gradually moving back home and they are being reintegrated into their respective communities,” President Buhari said. On the declaration of assets, the President affirmed that it was a constitutional requirement that all public office holders in Nigeria should declare their assets before and after their term in office. “I recall that in 1975 when late Murtala Mohammed became the Head of State, we were lined up - governors, ministers, members of the Supreme Military Council. Officials of Ministry of Justice were brought and every individual was made to declare his assets. “All Heads of States and Government, governors, ministers, permanent secretaries have to declare their assets because it is a constitutional requirement. “I have declared my assets four times. When I was governor in 1975, I declared. After being Minister of Petroleum and as a member of Supreme Military Council, I declared. When I was Head of State and now as a President, I have also declared. Earlier, President Mahama said both leaders had fruitful discussions on how to enhance bilateral relations and improve regional security. President Mahama said that Nigeria and Ghana will soon begin the process of reviving their joint commission for cooperation. The Ghanaian President added that both leaders also agreed to encourage closer cooperation between the intelligence and anti-graft agencies of both countries. He thanked President Buhari for his visit and assured him of Ghana’s support and cooperation with Nigeria in the fight against terrorism. http://saharareporters.com/2015/09/07/i-will-name-my-cabinet-month-president-buhari |
A police sergeant in Bauchi State, Godwin Hosea, has been promoted to the rank of Inspector for fabricating a bullet proof jacket. Decorating the officer at the police headquarters in Bauchi on Monday, the state police commissioner, Mohammed Mohammed, commended him for displaying exceptional talent. The management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), said in Abuja on Wednesday that it had attained new peak of 4,810.7 megawatts of generated electricity. This is contained in a statement signed by the Managing Director, System/Market Operation of TCN, Mr Dipak Sarma and given to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The statement said this was achieved at 20.45 hours of Aug. 25 following a record set on Tuesday when 4748megawatt was generated. It said these successes were due to the joint contributions of the gas companies, generation companies, distribution companies and the TCN. According to the statement, the Managing Director of TCN, Mr Paul Stefiszyn, said: “The Federal Government has been supportive in coordinating the activities of the sector across the value chain.’’ It stated that the sector now aimed at achieving 5,000 megawatts in a short time, adding that this would be an important milestone for the nation’s economy.
