Politics / Photos: Yobe Govt Distributes Job Creation Facilities, Cash, To Over 400 Youth by Skillz4u(m): 6:33am On Jan 18, 2017
The Yobe State Government and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) office of the Presidency have empowered 300 Yobe youths who were trained in various trade crafts and skills with the tools they need to set up their own businesses and support themselves and their families.

The 300 beneficiaries were drawn from Gulani, Fune, Nangere, Jakusko, Yusufari and Yunusari local government areas.

The training of the youths was technically facilitated by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and funded jointly by the Yobe State Government and the SDGs.

In a ceremony at Government House Damaturu today, the youths received various tools and cash stipends from H.E Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam, who urged them not to sell away the items but use them to establish small businesses and support themselves going forward.

Tools provided include those for carpentry, electrical installations and electronic repairs, furniture making, plumbing, fish farming, and hair salon operations, amongst others.

The ceremony also saw the distribution of other froms of support to victims of Boko Haram insurgency by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

In a speech at the 'graduation' ceremony for the 300 beneficiaries, Gov. Gaidam said the Yobe State Government has embarked on the "implementation of job creation avenues for youths" across the State because "positive contribution of the youths enables a community to develop while negative activities impact negatively on the socio-economic advancement of the society".

"From 2011 to date, we have distributed 1, 000 tricycles as soft loan with 50% discount. We have sponsored 1, 500 youths for entrepreneurship training at Sani Abatcha Institute for Youth Development, Kano and another 240 youths at Entrepreneurship Development Centre Maiduguri. We have also distributed 47 18-seater buses to beneficiaries to boost mass transit. Similarly, as part of the state government's youth empowerment programme, the SDGs' State Coordination Office has recently sponsored over 120 youths to undergo training in various trades like automobile repairs, welding, GSM handset repairs, carpentry, electrical works, and furniture making, etc.", the governor said.

A female beneficiary of the empowerment tools, Hauwa Abdullahi from Fune Local Government area, spoke movingly about how the training impacted the lives of the beneficiaries and how she hoped to be able to employ at least three people to work for her. "This support is heart-warming", she said. "It will enable us to stand on our feet and become employers of labour as well".

Politics / Photos: Former Katsina State Governor Shema Appears In Court by Skillz4u(m): 9:45pm On Jan 10, 2017
The arraignment of the former Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shehu Shema has suffered a setback today sequel to a motion on notice filed by the defendant which challenges the jurisdiction of the court and the competency of the charge.
Shema is being charged alongside three others, Sani Hamisu Makana, Lawal Ahmad Safana and Ibrahim Lawal Dankaba before Justice Maikaita Bako of the Katsina State High Court for the alleged offences of criminal breach of trust, abuse of office and conversion of public funds to the tune of over Eleven Billion Naira during his tenure as Governor.
When the charge was called today, Counsel Representing the accused persons, J.B Daudu SAN brought a motion challenging the jurisdiction of the court and the competency of the charge. However, the prosecution Counsel J.S Okutepa SAN filed a counter affidavit in replying the motion.
The prosecution also asked that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody until the next adjourned date. In his argument, he submitted that the first accused person has violated the terms of the administrative bail granted to him by the EFCC. In his reply, Daudu argued that since the court is yet to assume jurisdiction to hear the matter, such application should not have come up at this stage.
Justice Bako refused the prosecution application for remand and adjourned the matter to February 7, 2017 for hearing of the motions on notice after which the issue of arraignment would be determined.
One of the charge read that “You Ibrahim Shehu Shema whilst being the Governor of Katsina, Sani Hamisu Makana whilst being Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Katsina State, Lawal Ahmad Safana whilst being the Permanent Secretary for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs of Katsina State and Ibrahim Lawal Dankaba whilst being the Chairman Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Katsina State Chapter, between September, 2012 and May 2015 at Katsina, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court were entrusted with certain property to wit; an aggregate sum of N4,463,600,000 (Four Billion, Four Hundred and Sixty Three Million, Six Hundred Thousand Nairn Only) committed a criminal breach of trust in respect of the said sum by transferring it from Katsina State Joint Local Government Account domiciled at Access Bank , Katsina Branch to the account of ALGON domiciled at Union Bank, Katsina Branch and subsequently withdrew same and dishonesty convert it to your personal use (under various guises including funding security intervention fund to all the 34 local governments in Katsina State and falsely described in several payment vouchers and memos) and thereby committed and offence contrary to section 311 and punishable under section 312 of Penal Code Cape 96 Laws of Katsina State.

Romance / Exclusive Interview: I Got A Husband Because I Choose Not To Ignore His DM (pic) by Skillz4u(m): 10:51pm On Dec 31, 2016
The story of Musaddik and his wife Ziyada…
It all started from a single DM but here we are now
Where's the best place to find a life partner? Turns out, there are no rules. In the age of online dating, stories of how couples meet can be as varied as Snapchat filters.
Time was, if you met your mate online, you developed a cover story: If anyone asked, you'd say you met in a friend wedding, Market or at school. Not anymore. Whether it's the fact that many of us already conduct so much of our personal and business lives online, or the proliferation of online dating sites touting their successful matches, it's perfectly acceptable to say, with pride, that you met the love of your life with your fingers on a keyboard, not wrapped around the other way round. Here, these beautiful couples found theirs online, and went from Direct Message (DM) to walking down the aisle:
Take my opinion for what it's worth as a traditionally married stick in the mud, but I have a soft spot in my heart for online dating. I've said it once, and I'll say it again: If I was living in an alternate single person universe, I'd set up a profile in a heartbeat.
We send email instead of snail mail. We drive cars instead of horse-drawn carriages. It only makes sense that we could successfully find love on the internet instead of scouting out random ladies on the street.
Maybe it's the potential "danger" of the internet that holds people back (the same danger that applies to bringing home a sketchy dude you just met at a club, wedding or any social place I might add later), but many people are reluctant to date online.
Fair warning for those who fall into this pool of skeptics: This absolutely adorable and absolutely true online dating success stories will probably change your mind.
Below are some questions from Inside Arewa and our new couples in town Mr Musaddiq Wada Waziri and his wife name is Ziya'atulhaqq Usman Tahir:

InsideArewa: What is it like meeting someone on social media? Is there any different with meeting someone in places like school, Mall, Cinema, wedding, street or eatery places and what really motivated you to keep going up till marriage?

Couples: It’s a normal thing nowadays. No the anxiety of meeting someone new is all the same. Yeah there are differences and lots of uncertainties because you don't know what you're going into.

InsideArewa: What attracts you to her or what is that one thing that you have in common?

Her work (FatIboLady page) now @AuntyZiya and talent attracted me. (@AuntyZiya is an Instagram page that was found from the blessed intellect ofZiya’atulhaq Usman which she reaches out to her audience/clients through online consultation on issues pertaining relationship and marriage affairs, through this exquisite page she helps hundreds relationship that are in the verge of separation, the page serve for some years as a salvation to many of its clients traumatized by social relationships, turning hundreds of families from miseries to victories, many have forever been grateful with this great inclination of fatIbolady page, the page has gain a remarkable and delicate recognition both nationally and internationally)

InsideArewa: Who first made the move and did it start as friends then lovers or just love?

Musaddiq: I did (laughs). I have a friend Abdullahi Buhari they knew each other. I told him that I am crushing on her and asked him whether he will tell her to follow me back. She followed me back we exchanged phone numbers and the rest is history...

InsideArewa: Was it a distance relationship? sometimes social media doesn't do justice when you finally meet that person you have been wanting to see in person, what was the reactions and feelings when you first meet in person, was it love at first sight?

She lives in Bauchi and I live in Kano. Well, Alhamdulillah we have already started the “I love you” thing before meeting. After I went to see her in Bauchi, it turns out she’s more beautiful than I was expecting. Her family welcomed me warmly, met her uncle in the afternoon and dad in evening. And she served me delicious jollof rice...lol that she cooked specifically for me because she knew I love it. Don’t laugh at me now, can you imagine I left my cap at her house and up till today she is still insisting its because of her delicious Jollof that I forget my cap.
InsideArewa: What was your challenge during the process of courtship and how did you dealt with the differences?
There wasn't any serious challenge honestly.

InsideArewa: What makes your relationship successful?
Couples: Honesty! I always believe that ‘Honesty is more important than trust.’
The common belief is “without trust you can’t have a relationship” once the trust is broken it’s over. There is complete truth to that statement, but trust isn’t the most important thing.
I was sitting down at lunch with a few of my friends during break and we started talking about relationships. “People say trust is more important, but it’s honesty, you have to be honest with your partner and honest with yourself”, one said and another one nodded his head, agreed and added “that’s true, if trust is all it’s based on when it’s broken everything is broken”. In my head, I added if there’s no room for forgiveness, there’s no room for real love. It was then I finally understood what my friend meant when he said honesty is more important than trust.

1) Without honesty the trust isn’t genuine:
Trust is very essential in a relationship, it’s one of the core ingredients that keeps a relationship, but if there’s no honesty the trust can’t be genuine. Without honesty you can have blind trust. You trust someone based on what you know, but what you know can be false. Many people are in relationships where they trust each other, but one of them isn’t “keeping it real”, so they have their partner believing a bunch of lies and trusting in nothing but lies.

2) Without honesty between you two it will also hinder growth:
Lack of honesty affects not only trust, but communication. It can cause the relationship to be unhealthy. Ever been in a relationship where you meet someone, they ask you what you are looking for you ask them what they are looking for; you discuss the likes and dislikes and compare the similarities and difference etc. Together you start building a beautiful relationship, you both seem perfect for each other, something happens, true colors start to come out who they said they were become questionable. As the relationship heads down hill everything they said they weren’t they become. Well that’s the effect of dishonesty. Most people find out what their person of interest is looking for; they try to become that person. They share with each other what they think will satisfy each other putting aside the real them and say and do what’s necessary to be Mr. or Mrs. Right until they can’t play the role anymore.
Being honest with each other helps avoid a lot of issues. Honesty will open the door to meet, greet and learn about the real person you’re with. It also prepares you for the tough time, so when their true colors come out you had a glimpse of the portrait already. You can trust each other all you want, but if both of you don’t know the real version of the other that trust is useless

InsideArewa: is there any special memory before and after you meet her?
Couples: I don’t have any special memory I can point because anything pertaining my wife is special. She's so angelic Alhamdulillah for her.

InsideArewa: What was your parent's reaction when they asked where you meet and say twitter?

Couples: They requested for time to do the "bincike" during the process they realized we have mutual family friends and that made it all easy for them to do the baground check. And Alhamdulillah we are here now.
InsideArewa: For how long have you been together and was the relationship more of social media or do you often meet?

Couples: We met on 13th October 2015 and got married on the 16th of April 2016. I went to Bauchi ‘only three times’ during our courtship. So you can say we only meet in person three times and the forth times I met her as my wife not girlfriend, but we are always on phone. There was even a day that my boss threatened me with a sack for too much phone calls in the office. I believe this is the power of been honest, open minded and trusting your partner.
InsideArewa: What attract you to her and even made you send her a “DM”, is it her tweets, personality or looks? Is she still on social media now after you marry her?

Couples: Yeah she's still but with few amendments in terms of dealing with the audience. And I am fully supporting her work.
Finally I have a message to anyone that will read this interview but ill make it simple, just be sincere in what you do, know what you want and go for it and things will work out as it should. Let God be your guide to greatness. Ladies please reply that DM someone serious is there keep trying, never give up things happen down there. I am a living example.

Thank you for given us your time and we wish you and your wife a blissful marriage life and lots of baraka.

Ameen Ya Rabb! Thank you so much.

The End!

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal yesterday in Sokoto launched a Community Contributory Health Scheme (CCHS) as one of the measure towards ensuring effective delivery of the Universal Health Coverage.
Tambuwal who assured that his administration remained committed to good health for the citizenry, described the take off of the scheme as one of the most important interventions of his administration in the healthcare sector. According to the governor, the state has set aside the sum of N100m as seed fund for the take off of CCHS whose aim amongst others benefits allows for stakeholders contribution for adequate healthcare delivery to all.Tambuwal noted that, the scheme is an important policy whose impact will positively be felt on the lives of the people.“It will also protect families from the financial hardship of huge medical bills and limit the inflationary rise in the cost of healthcare services in all parts of the state.

“Apart from ensuring equitable distributionof healthcare costs across different income groups, this scheme will improve and harness private sector participation in the provision of healthcare services in Sokoto,” the Governor added.Earlier, Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’adAbubakar, dispelled the notion that Islam isagainst contributory health scheme, sayingthe religion encourages members of the society to help each other at all times.Giving an insight into the benefits to be derived, the state commissioner of health, Dr. Kakale Balarabe Shuni, said the new policy would ensure that all residents of Sokoto have access to effective, quality and affordable healthcare services.

“It will facilitate training of human resourcedevelopment and ensure availability of alternative source of funding to the health sector for improved service,” he added. While commending the Sokoto state government for its foresight in implementing the policy, the Executive Secretary of the National health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Professor Usman Yusuff said the benefit of this policy will be felt forgenerations to come.Others who spoke at the event, which also served as the beginning of a sensitisation programme for religious scholars and community leaders on the importance of the scheme, include the Emir of Gwandu, Muhammad Bashar Iliyasu, and the DG of Ja’iz Foundation, Ambassador Adamu Babangida Ibrahim.

Politics / Military To Re-open Nigeria-niger Border Roads To Facilitate Farming, Trade by Skillz4u(m): 1:04pm On Dec 09, 2016
Military to re-open Nigeria-Niger border roads to facilitate farming, trade

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has said that the Nigeria-Niger border roads will be re-opened by the military to reactivate and facilitate farming, trade, and evacuation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Diffa province to liberated communities.

Over 85,000 IDPs from Borno state are taking refuge at Diffa resettlement camps, established by the Nigerien government in 2014.

Shettima disclosed this on Thursday, while receiving the Nigerien Governor of Diffa Province, Alhaji Mohammoudu Lawaly Dan Dano at the Government House, Maiduguri.
“We have a lot of commonalities of history, culture, folks, religion and ethnicity with the people of Niger. It was the Colonial Masters of Britain and France that divided us with these artificial boundaries and divisions,” said Shettima.

He said the IDPs taking refuge in Diffa Province of Niger, are adequately catered for by the Nigerien government, without being discriminated or abandoned, as Niger and north part of Nigeria share the same historical and cultural backgrounds.
He said that the re-opening of the border roads with Niger will also facilitate the repatriation of 85,000 IDPs from Niger Republic to Borno state.
“I will meet the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Lucky Irabor next week, and discuss with him the possibility of reopening this closed border roads that lead to Niger Republic".
“The re-opening of this road will also facilitate the repatriation of displaced persons taking refuge in your province of Diffa.”

Shettima assured Dan Dano that the re-opening of the road could activate and facilitate trade, farming, and tourism, which had been affected by the Boko Haram insurgency for over five years.

Responding, Dan Dano assured the Governor that all the displaced persons in camps, are being taken care of, including the provision of health care delivery services.
He said that all the female IDPs that gave birth to babies in camps had been issued with birth and registration certificates.
