This is the Samsung Galaxy S8. Sure, it’s still a couple of weeks until we get the see the thing in person on March 29, but we’ve gotten what appears to be a pretty solid view of the handset from just about every angle. Once rare and coveted, device leaks have long since become part of the release cycles for many manufacturers, built into the hype machine ahead of a product’s release.

And the Galaxy S8 is a product that needs hyping. That’s not due to any perceived shortcomings of the phone itself, so much as the fact that, for obvious reasons, Samsung really needs a winner this time out. The new flagship, which most anticipated would be announced last week at MWC, has been pushed back for a standalone event either because Samsung had some extra wrinkles to iron out or it simply preferred a standalone showcase. The truth is probably some combination of both.

What we can likely expect is another sober kick off to the event, following similar moves at CES and MWC, which both found the company apologizing and promising to do better. Though both quickly shifted gears to the announcement at hand. At CES, the company promised to “reach higher,” which is precisely what caused Icarus so many issues back in the day.

Last week at MWC, the company talked “pushing boundaries” after showcasing a slightly tone-deaf video set to “Give The People What They Want” by the O’Jays, which felt less like a proper apology that a strangely funky look into the company’s stress testing. Either way, the actual announcements felt more like a placeholder. In fact, the company ended the event by an announcement of the S8, sending out invites and telling us all to stay tuned. How’s that for building hype?

The actual event will likely see a more consumer-focused version of the company’s investigation announcement a couple of months back, which showcased its rigorous testing standards. If all goes according to plan, it will also be one of the last times the company feels obligated to address the Note 7 fiasco in such a public forum.

And it just may work. If MWC was any indication, the rest of the industry (LG and Korean regulators excepted) seems to have moved on. Exploding batteries weren’t the sort of hot button topic some had expected at the event, save for the occasional mention. But while Samsung’s peers appear to mostly be done taking potshots at the company for the time being, and it hasn’t done much to impact the company’s bottom line, the issue lingers large in the public’s mind, as cab drivers and flight attendants were more than happy to remind me of my trip to Barcelona.

Perhaps time, coupled with apologies and a real whizz-bang follow-up could help push the major misstep out of the public’s admittedly short-term memory. A truly revolutionary product could go long ways toward ensuring that bad memories don’t even last a full product cycle. But that’s going to take more than simply adhering to the standard spec-focused upgrade that has been fueling the industry for the past several years.

What does seem pretty clear from all of the leaks thus far, is that Samsung’s once again hanging a lot on that screen. But what has, in the past, often been a simple matter of pixel density has (though that’s been improved as well) shifted more toward the company’s recent obsessions with coming as close as humanly possible to an all-screen device. LG’s edge-to-edge display turned out to be overstated by the time the device actually materialized, but Samsung’s beloved curved sides coupled with significantly shrunken side bezels go ways toward realizing the dream.

And, of course, the familiar fingerprint reading home button is gone from the bottom of the device (having moved to the back below the camera), ditto for the Samsung branding up top. The screen size has reportedly been increased as well, from 5.1 to 5.7 inches. That’s well into Note territory. The S8+ is even more so at a reported ridiculously large 6.2 inches.

What’s even more compelling is the shift in aspect ratio, to 18:9 It’s a now familiar move, thanks to the G6. LG happily hinted that, while it was the first major manufacturer with a flagship sporting that aspect ratio, Samsung and Apple would soon be following suit. From the looks of the leaks thus far, the company was right with at least one of those predictions.

The company will no doubt take time out to talk up all the multitasking functionality that extra screen real estate affords, in terms of opening multiple windows, which is nice for workflow and doing things like previewing photos while shooting. Bezels and height constraints, it seems are the boundaries the company is so keen on pushing.

Reversing Samsung’s fortunes is, of course, a lot of pressure to put on a screen. Software-wise, expect this to be the first handset to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat. It will also likely be the first to ship with Samsung’s new voice assistant, continuing a trend among Android manufacturers of eschewing Google Assistant, in spite of its recent broad rollout.
If “Bixby” is indeed the fruit of the company’s recent acquisition of Viv Labs, the company truly will have the making of a product capable of standing out from a crowded field that also includes Siri and Alexa. Designed by Siri’s creators, the assistant understands far subtle cues than its Apple-owned predecessor.

As the company demonstrated on the Disrupt stage back in May, it’s capable of answering complex queries like, “Will it be warmer than 70-degrees near the Golden gate bridge after 5 pm the day after tomorrow?” More interesting, it’s also designed to be a platform, meaning third-party companies will have a much easier time developing for the app from launch.

Beyond that, there’s not too much in the way of surprises from the leaks thus far. There’s reportedly 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage – all familiar numbers. That’s coupled with a Snapdragon 835 – no surprise there, given the company’s close ties with Qualcomm in recent years. In fact, the company is said to be essentially hoarding the chip until its own phone arrives.

The inclusion of the latest and greatest from Qualcomm will present the opportunity to discuss the phone’s processing prowess, which may well progress naturally to a conversation around VR. A fitting topic, given rumors that the company will also be launching a new Gear VR at the event.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rblb3sptgpQ

Save for the new assistant, the leaks thus far have squarely centered on the phone’s hardware, which, if not revolutionary, certainly marks a break for the company. And while Samsung no doubt wishes the last year would have played out differently, the events leading up to the March 29 announcement have hopefully lit a proverbial fire under Samsung to think beyond the specs race in order to build a device that will both put the Note 7 behind it and help determine the way it thinks about phones moving forward.

Science/Technology / Five Tiny Ways Nanoscience Will Change Our Lives by slaknoah(m): 5:19pm On Feb 22, 2017

Russian author Boris Zhitkov wrote the 1931 short story Micro hands, in which the narrator creates miniature hands to carry out intricate surgeries. And while that was nearly 100 years ago, the tale illustrates the real fundamentals of the nanoscience researchers are working on today.

Nanoscience is the study of molecules that are one billionth of a meter in size. To put this into perspective, a human hair is between 50,000 and 100,000 nanometers thick. At this tiny size, materials possess properties that lie somewhere between a lump of metal and that of a single atom. This unique environment means they can become very reactive and be used as catalysts.

The ideas behind nanoscience are often easier to understand when considered simply in terms of how a single material’s properties change. But the field is not limited to just that: we are now moving into the realm of healthcare therapies, and vehicles smaller than a speck of dust. What were once regarded as science fictions are rapidly becoming fact.

1. MEDI-GELS
In video games like Bioware’s Mass Effect, players are able to heal characters’ injuries with the seemingly miraculous medi-gel. Though it may not give you the unlimited life or epic adventure that a video game can, there is a real-life gel that can similarly stop an arterial bleed in seconds.

"Veti-gel" is made of polysaccharide polymers found in the cell walls of plants which, when applied to wounds, can mimic the structure of the extracellular matrix – the complex web in which cells sit. The gel essentially acts as scaffolding for the matrix to reform, pulling it back together and stopping bleeding without any pressure.

2. HEALING MOLECULES
Indeed, wound healing is a key feature of many an action-packed science fiction plot line. Handheld tools have already been created, similar to Star Trek’s dermal regenerator, to heal injuries. On the nano-level, a team has developed gel nanoparticles which target a specific enzyme (FL2) which slows the migration of skin cells to wounds. They hypothesized that reducing the levels of this enzyme would increase rates of wound healing.

However, delivering the molecules of Silencing RNA (siRNA) needed to slow the enzyme down would normally be difficult, as unprotected chains of RNA quickly degrade within the body. So these siRNA molecules were placed inside nano-sized gel shells to aid uptake and their transport into cells. Wounds treated this way healed twice as fast as those which were not while maintaining normal tissue regeneration.

3. SELF-REPAIRING TECH
The film Terminator 2 features an evil robot that can repair itself, "healing" in a few seconds. Thankfully, the reality is nowhere near as scary – though we are close to having technology that fixes itself.

Chemists have devised self-healing carbon fiber polymers that break when stress is applied, allowing an epoxy resin to seep from the material and mix with a catalyst. When the resin and catalyst come into contact, a strong plastic with a healing efficiency of up to 108% is formed. The technology is comparable to the healing of a bruise, but instead of bursting a couple of blood vessels, the resin is released.

At a basic level, this may mean that we need never worry about a cracked phone screen again. But it could also repair the tiny cracks that develop on planes while they are in flight or even seal bullet holes.

4. RACING MICRO-CARS
In 1966, cinema-goers were wowed as the crew of a submarine was shrunk down to microscopic size, and injected into the body of a scientist in the film Fantastic Voyage. Though we are certainly not anywhere near injecting tiny humans into other humans, scientists have created molecular-size vehicles that can be driven in particular directions.

In 2011, scientist Ben Feringa constructed a four-wheeled nano car, comprised of four molecular motors on a carbon chain chassis. With wheels only 60 atoms in size and a width more than 666,666,666 times smaller than a Formula 1 car, it might be hard to imagine driving, let alone racing, these tiny vehicles. But this year the first two-day nano car race will take place. Teams will compete on a course made entirely of gold, painstakingly constructed atom by atom. Extra atoms will be placed on the surface to act as obstacles which competitors will have to navigate around.

5. FANTASY FOODS
Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has made millions of mouths water over the years, thanks to the author’s vivid descriptions of quirky tastes and inventive sweets.

In reality, there aren’t chewing gums that taste like a three-course dinner—just yet—or fizzy pop that makes you fly. But food manufacturers have been working on ways to change tastes and textures using molecular technology. Nanotech has been used in food for many years—emulsifiers in mayonnaise, for example—but now scientists are looking at how it can be used to enhance nutrition and the aesthetics of common foods.

Australian bakery Tip-Top is using nanocapsules to add omega-3 oil to bread. The capsules only open in the correct environment—the stomach—and so can bring the benefits of Omega-3 without the unpleasant taste. Likewise, companies such as Nestle and Unilever are also researching nanocapsules to improve the texture of their food.

Though nanotechnology can’t do everything that science fiction has promised just yet, it is changing the world as we know it. And the smaller we continue to go, the bigger the potential will be.

Americans woke up to see their accounts automatically following @POTUS on twitter.
There was a mistake made on Inauguration Day.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey apologized Saturday for accidentally making it so that Twitter users followed @POTUS and other administrative accounts even when they tried not to.

It was a complex ordeal during which Twitter told Mashable on Friday, following reports of users saying that they were automatically following @POTUS under Trump even when they were not before or had unfollowed prior to Inauguration (as Twitter outlined they could do), that there was no glitch.

That is still true, in part. But Twitter engineers orchestrated settings that violated what they had said to do.

Dorsey explained the situation in a series of tweets Saturday, which are all below. TLDR: If you followed @POTUS44 (Obama's archived tweets) after 12 p.m. ET Friday you were automatically set to follow @POTUS (Trump), and some accounts were mistakenly marked in the system to follow @POTUS despite previously unfollowing the account.

I still find it difficult to understand, why many of Nigerians, even some friends and family can be so greedy.
Your uncle you went to last month to invest in your business and said he doesnt have such money is the same one you heard invested paid 4 million to MMM.

Why cant we be as realistic as possible, and stop running after all these quick money schemes.
The man that paid 4million to MMM could have gone into Real Estates or even buy stocks.

Just dont understand. Is this wickedness or greediness.

This new technology has been proven to offer what we have long expected our notebooks to offer us, the "everlasting" notebook. No wonder it is called Everlast.

This notebook has got a lot amazing features like erasing and reusing your pages, scanning your notes into mobile app, another one which happens to be my favourite is the Dropbox/ Google drive option where you can backup your notes in your Dropbox or Google Drive accounts.

Check out more of its amazing features in the video below.

So, what are the best and easiest ways to learn coding?
I cant say this or that is the best method as it all depends on you, but I will give you some tips from experience that will help in making programming languages as easy as pie

-Use online resources: The internet contains lot of resources you can use. But like I said before, don't just watch Youtube tutorials randomly, in fact I tell my students not to start with Youtube tutorials because some of them are outdated and not in order. A very good "store" for programmers is W3Schools

Here comes the big part, oh don't be scared am only joking. Getting started with Web development is as easy is starting to learn a new skill. And this part just like Web design requires investing your time, money and energy, just like learning a new skill, right?
A lot of people have been approaching Web development in a very wrong way(an article coming soon on wrong and good practises) which some include

Learning too much languages at the same time
Learning without practising
Inconsistency
Lack of commitment
Wrong time management
Using outdated or old platforms
Let's limit it to that for now. As you can see, these stated above are wrong approaches people make towards learning coding and at the end of the day they get fed up because they are not seeing the results.

So, which of them should I choose?

Although statistics show that Web developer are more paid than Web designers but I will say this depends on you.I tell my students "Go for what you love to do, not what you have to do". What I mean by that is, if you are interested in the design aspect then go for Web Design
and if its Coding, Web development, its that simple!

How do I get started with web design?

Let me say getting started is not the problem but getting going is the main thing. Get good hold of programs like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop (Graphic design).Learn about website layouts colours, positioning e.t.c and you are already on your way to becoming a professional web designer.

In simple terms

I like to differentiate them this way Web design deals with illustrating, planning and examining a website with the aid of graphics usually done using illustrators like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and so on. While Web Development in simple terms is the coding aspect(there is more to that though). It involves the use of programming languages like HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascripts, Python, Ruby e.t.c in creating responsive and attractive websites.

And what is Web Development?

Web Development(Wikipedia)

Web development is a broad term for the work involved in developing a web site for the Internet (World Wide Web) or an intranet (a private network). Web development can range from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications, electronic businesses, and social network services. A more comprehensive list of tasks to which web development commonly refers, may include web engineering, web design, web content development, client liaison, client-side/server-side scripting, web server and network security configuration, and e-commerce development. Among web professionals, "web development" usually refers to the main non-design aspects of building web sites: writing markup and coding.

Web design encompasses many different skills and disciplines in the production and maintenance of websites. The different areas of web design include web graphic design; interface design; authoring, including standardised code and proprietary software; user experience design; and search engine optimization. Often many individuals will work in teams covering different aspects of the design process, although some designers will cover them all. The term web design is normally used to describe the design process relating to the front-end (client side) design of a website including writing mark up.
