I got this from my International Students Board ..I think guys should know about it its a scam targeting new International Students It has brought to our attention that a scam may be going around targeting newly arrived students. In our case, the student received a call from a caller identifying himself as CIC (caller ID revealed call centre number, 1-888-242-2100) and informing him that he has committed misrepresentation for entering a different birth year on the custom declaration form (a white form visitors fill in upon entry to Canada). The student is then asked to make an immediate payment of $750 within half an hour or risk being removed from Canada. The caller provided file number, case number and reference number and use legal words such as removal order and misrepresentation to make the call appear legitimate. If your students encounter similar unfortunate experience, CIC has advised to immediately contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Toll-free: 1-888-495-8501 Toll-free fax: 1-888-654-9426 E-mail: info@antifraudcentre.ca |
Hi guys, Saw this online and i felt it should be shared, cos its true..Living in canada might involve some unplanned expenses really particularly the tax part...13% for St John's here..what you gain in tuition ..ready to pay it in tax.. ...but as naija consain..we dey always rough am...lol There may be some expenses you never thought about when coming to Canada. Well here are five different costs and expenses you should keep in mind when you come to Canada: 1. Winter clothes. Canada has quite the cold winters. Depending on where you are in Canada climates can differ from lows of 0 degrees Celsius all the way down to -30 in some cases. Make sure you take into consideration all the different things you may want to pick up to stay warm. Sweaters, jackets, gloves and long-johns! All valid accessories you may want to into before coming to Canada. 2. Snow gear. Snow may be something you are not accustomed to. Canadian snow storms can average between 10 to even 20 so a pair a boots and snow pants may be something you want to invest in. Other than that snow sports and activities is definitely something you may want to get involved with. Skating, snowboarding, skiing these are all common activities you may want to invest in! 3. Taxes. In Canada, we have a number of taxes you may want to take into consideration when coming here. Sales tax is often something people outside of Canada may not know of. When purchasing a product or good there is a sales tax that is often not shown on the prices of goods. Keep in mind when you are looking at a price tag you need to add a number of sales taxes. Depending on where you are in Canada taxes do differ. 4. Long Distance Communications. Being away from home can be hard. With cultural, social and educational transitioning you may become home-sick. Make sure to save some money to keep in contact with family and friend back home. |
Can I save dis thread .....cant stop laffing..My childhood days has numerous episodes..i could remember one now..as I dey laff..my street used to be a long one closed by my pry schl.so it had one entrance frm d main road..our house was the last on d street (next to the school).i and my brothers used to go to our friends house at d beginning of d street to play table soccer.wheneva we heard my father's pickup thunderous horn from the entrance of d street...I don't knw hw we always manage to outrun dat pick up everytym tru some 'koro'.cos he must always meet us at home.d day we lost (over reliance on dat horn blast)was d day his van broke down and he had to walk home..guys imagine d rest of d story and d beating |

Hello all,#TeamMUN#.. where y'all at?anyone with accomodaion news?...this accomodation issue is becoming hard beans o....anyone presently in MUN shld pls help out..most flats online are not responding to overseas requests..please anyone in the house knows any student of MUN?i heard address to stay is important at POE... |
This is one of d questions i dread most..reason is no one will ever tell you what you want to hear bro.. My 2 cent?...if you decide to quit without another alternative...know that you r taking a big dive..But think of it...Huge successes are usually for risk takers...you can decide to stay conservative and suffer in endurance till you are sacked...or you can start working out ur exit strategy now,bt at any point u leave ... Why dont u save up and try and get a foreign degree (dont try UK o,dem go collect ur money and send u back afta a yr)in a good country..u may not get all u think u want..bt u ll be better off on both sides.. Dont think u want to do business becos u wont be able to monitor it if u r in operations....if u r married ..discuss with ur spouse ..u guys shld be ready to make sacrifices to better ur life...naija banking job can make life and marriage dull and unexciting...or try change to marketing..it gives time to plan other things..even ur exit...still my two cents |
rawlizo: Yesssssirr!! WowThen we gatz connect..wen r u leaving..and plans for accomodation? |
rawlizo: Wait o broda, u going 4 engineering management too?Yes bozz..MEM all d way...are u for it too@MUN? |
effectplus: Gudmornin' pals....pls,can one pay for a session wen applyin'....cos' d full payment in MuN is kinda bulky for my MA course,n must smone pay first b4 applyin' d visa.....jijola,justwise,n d rest, pls,we newbies need ur help to get us on track....if u can design a prepared step-to-step guide to follow....pls,....Paying full tuition may not guarantee Visa with experience...i paid 2k dollars out of 22k and i got visa...knew guys dat paid full tuition and got denied..work more on quality docs and good cash flow..i knew my SOP worked cos my first application that got denied had more docs and more closing balance dan d one dat got me visa...just saying |
Jijola: Morning. Pls when and how much did you book Quatar Air to St. Johns?Booked late June at $1,042...did online with fbn mastercard |
halle2: Is der a shorter route to St John's from naija? Am also searching for off campus housing seriously....#team MUNDint c a shorter route anyways..@halle2..did u book qatar too..u can check www.mun.ca/isa/och for off campus accomodatn...saw some housing looking for female occupants. |
halle2: Present sir! Looking @ 28th august. Have u booked ur flight yet?how far housing?. Yes o..booked qatar for 28th aug...still on d lookout for accomodation o |
Nadezna: I don't think you should take out No.14. Leave it in; this would show the VO that your family (wife & children) have some source of income to depend on when you are away. With all u have listed,i think what u need to work on is ur SOP...also the relationship btw ur chosen course and ur first degree/profession matters..dint use as much docs as u listed and i got trv...i am self sponsored, and married ....i feel a good SOP makes excess sense....BTW #TeamMUN..wattagwan...any one leaving August ending? |

Sleem-B:my peeps, please this my question is still pending?Baba siga,@kjbobo,chriGo et al...e n wo mi ran ni!,please help review my situation ...a friend wants to help..can it fly? |
Sleem-B:kayconsult: @ sleem-B, did u get a letter of employment and study leave letter from your employer? Did u submit a c of o of any building to show u have home tiles? I don't think 6 million is too small for the visa application, I no of ppl that even had 3.5 million and we're given study visa. In a nutshell, I will be willing to help but let's see all the documents you submitted along with your application? these are the docs I submitted: 1.statement of salary account with a closing bal of 6m,though about 3m came in the month of submission. 2.Payslip of about 200k net. 3.pension statement of about 1,9m 4.employment letter stating that i earn about 4.4m annually. 5.official employment letter from my manager (stating that i will have to handover weeks before my leave) 6.my wife's birth cert and passport. 7.my son's birth cert. 8.payment receipt of 2000CAD from MUN. these are the vital docs I could remember. I could not get a leave letter as i am not qualified according to my organization's policy on study leave,I have a land that was valued at about 2.5m as at the time of application but my agent did not include it cos it has no C.of O. Now i have a friend that wants to co-sponsor,he has a good cash flow and some assets.can it work? |
