When I calculate it, it is going to at least N200k.

Funny thing is I've known about this Global Bank Transfer but for some crazy reason did not explore it ( mostly because I knew of someone who did it but received the funds in Naira (converted with the official CBN rate) )

Anyway so I successfully got the Payoneer Bank Transfer setup and received my withdrawal in USD to my local domiciliary account.

The total fee was $20 compared to the $50 I've been paying for many many years doing wire transfers directly from freealancer.

Payoneer charged me $15, and somewhere along the line another $5 was removed. No biggie! I am still stoked.


Process

In my freelancer account there is no Payoneer bank option.

I contacted their support and requested that I wanted my method to be changed from "Card" to "Bank Transfer".


They sent me a link ( which did not work ). I replied to them that it did not.
(It takes them up to 3 days sometimes to reply a message and sometimes I had to nag)

They requested I verify my Payoneer details via email. I provided.

They then requested my local bank details.

I provided them the Account Name, Account Number, Bank Name and SWIFT Address.

They asked me to provide a statement for the account. I sent.

All the above, was via email communication.

Got back to me about 3 days later ( their support is slow).

They had changed my method to Global Transfer.

I made a Freelancer withdrawal and chose my normal "Freelancer Card" option. I received the funds in USD on the next business day in my dom account.


From start to finish the process took about 2 weeks.

Frankly, I stopped using the card ages ago, because the rate was a rip off. I still had it and used it though for backup and emergencies.

I've been using WIREs a long time on freelancer. Most cost effective (even with the $50 charge). PayPal is also a possibility if you have a means of withdrawing from that PayPal.

Meanwhile, I am in the process of signing up for Global Bank Transfer via Payoneer. Will update you guys on the outcome. This should effectively reduce my $50 wire charges to $25 or $35, lets see.

Kindle is still profitable. The problem is that the game has changed and most people can't adapt to the changes.
It's no longer as easy as it was. No more free money from book borrows, free promotions are not as effective as before, more books are being published (over 85,000 per month) and so on.
Big time publishers are not helping matters. They are upping the game by bringing in a lot of money and expertize which most indie publishers can't compete against. You need bigger and better quality books. Alternatively, you have to be creative to find hidden niches where smaller books still sell.
You can succeed if you adopt a publisher's mindset.
My online publishing business is now spread evenly across Kdp, Createspace and Draft2digital (to get into iBooks, Barnes and Noble,Kobo, Oyster). And my income is still rising.

If you love your hard earned money, never leave any cash on your Payoneer card.

This Payoneer card fraud business just started about 6 months ago.

They claim it's card skimming issues from Nigerian ATMs but we all know this is a flat lie.

This is an internal fraud scheme within their ranks.

If there are card skimming machines around, all my local bank cards will have been hit with the same fraudulent charges by now.

I've never had such an incident with my locally issued visa/mastercards EVER!


Needless to say I have dumped my Payoneer card.

You dumped your Payoneer card? So, how do you withdraw your earnings?, as the Bank transfer option is not available to us anymore.

Someone suggested opening a foreign Paypal account. What's your take on that?

It's not limited to online transactions. Mine got hit after an ATM withdrawal (2 cards so far, I'm on the 3rd one)

Then I'm not leaving any funds on that account again. I guess I'll have to withdraw any cash that enters the account pronto. Godamn it!

Heads up!

Never use your Payoneer card for online purchases, unless you want to regret later. I made some recent purchases online with my Payoneer card, including a subscription to Wordai (article rewriting service) and got hit with a withdrawal from a China ATM with my Payoneer card (cloned one of course!) a few days after.

Payoneer contacted me as soon as it happened and blocked my card as well, but it was too late, as my cash is already gone. Payoneer suggested maybe there are some skimming services located in Nigerian ATMs (not sure about that). The bottom line is, my cash disappeared after the online transactions!

I have instructed them to deliver a new card to me via Dhl. But, from now on, no more online purchases with my Payoneer card! And that goes for everyone that makes use of Payoneer too, that is, if you want your funds to be safe.

I need help here. I have a Nigerian PayPal account and I have been trying to make payment with it online. But each time I try to add my card to the account, I get an error message. I contacted Paypal, they said my account is ok, dat I should clear my cookies or change browser and try again. I did to no avail. Any way out of this? I need to make an urgent payment online.

After calculating and sending the table above to UBA, they have come with a new song saying that the excessive charge was done by Mastercard and not by them.

Contact Mastercard. Provide them with the above Statements and see what they tell you.

You have to specify the postal code to your address for you to receive the card. And make sure you use a PO Box address.

Contact Payoneer, tell them you have not received your card, they will resend a new one.

A little tip for those that work on FV. Whenever you create a new gig, link your custom offers to it, whether it relates to the new gig or not to get the first review on it.

I always create new gigs and I have found out that unless you get a review on that new gig, nobody's gonna order that new gig.

Nigerian companies think they could do anything and get awy with it. The fact that they didn't do anything after your complaint still amazes me. Damn!

If I were you, I would take the mobiles numbers to their network providers with every evidence of what happened. They should be able to trace it.

Then, with my Lawyer in tow, I would visit their head office and put in official complaint. I'll remind them that if after 3 days, they haven't done anything, I'm gonna sue their ass for actual damages of 300k and punitive damages of 1 million.

Then I would visit CPC and put in official complaint too. This should get the ball rolling.

Don't let it go girl, do something!

For those of us who work on FV. If anybody ever asks for work sample, check if the account is new(opened on July and August) Plus the country of registration being Asia, please don't do it!

I was taking for a ride lastnite. One dude asked for a research sample with a long list of instructions. According to him, he wants to make sure I understood all the instructions before ordering my gig. As soon as I submitted the sample, the dude absconded.

I can't still believe I fell for that. Anyway that was lesson learnt. So be careful guys!

Ok guys, here goes my weird testimony.

To start with, I'm a peppersoup addict. Not just any peppersoup, but fresh fish peppersoup with all the trimmings.

Before I began freelancing, I use to take it maybe once in a week if I was lucky to have any spare cash. But now, I confortably take it everyday without worries. Come to think of it, I was feeding the addiction last night as I completed a job.

A mastercard or visa is exchange rate is regulated by the company issuer, not the bank.

You can't have a one bank card charging whatever it wants. What stops them from changing 100 versus 200 versus vs 50 vs 1 vs 3?

The 5000+ banks throughout the world the issuing visa/mc are each setting the exchange rates individually as they chose?

What is GTB exchange rate for when you use you naira mastercard in India or Pakistan or Myanmar or Ghana or Korea or Thailand or etc etc.

They have set the exchange rates for these too from Naira to Riyals to Cedis to USD to Rupees to Baht to Ruble?
