Five teenage girls agreed to convert on the promise they would receive tickets to see the pop star – totally unaware they were being duped for a spoof show. The Anne-Kat Hærland comedy show saw the girls remove their makeup, wear hijabs and recite Islamic creed in Arabic. Bishop Halvor Nordhaug, from the Norwegian Lutheran Church, told Norwegian paper Dagen he thought the stunt was “tragic”. He said: “This is an example of an idea where irony and lack of respect turns into something tragic. “I believe the contest is a foolish statement and it shows a lack of respect for what faith means.” The girls were also told to repeat what translated to: “Justin Bieber is impure and probably gay.” The show’s presenter said: “We wanted to find out how far Norwegian ‘Beliebers’ are willing to go for tickets to one of Bieber’s concerts.” Justin Bieber recently cancelled a concert in Oman after Muslim leaders in the country criticised the singer and deemed his moves "too sexy". Bieber was in Norway earlier this month as part of his world tour. Source: The Sun |
Dear Achebe, Please, If you see Ojukwu, tell him that his brothers and sisters are experiencing another Pogrom in Kano. Tell Awolowo that Nigeria is preparing for another war. Tell Zik that those things that made him cross the ocean 50 times seeking for peace is looming again. Tell Yar'Adua that the amnesty he granted is causing wahala. Tell Tafewa Balewa that his scions are carrying weapons against Nigeria. Obviously you will not see Abacha but if you see any one that will see him, tell him that Almustapha is still in kirikiri prison and of course Alamesiyea has been released. Tell MKO Abiola that another June 12 is looming and tell him that Nigeria's officials have extended to convicted criminals who are looting the nation dry. Don't be disappointed on Nigeria dear Achebe just that THINGS HAS FALLEN APART, NIGERIA IS NO LONGER AT EASE AND THE ARROW OF GOD IS NOW POINTING SERIOUSLY @ NIGERIA, BECAUSE OF THE TROUBLE WITH NIGERIA, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE HAD A MAN OF THE PEOPLE LIKE YOU; INDEED THERE WAS A COUNTRY. Hiv is now leading other countries in new infant HIV statistics, with about 70,000 children born annually acquiring HIV/AIDS through mother-to-child transmission,SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt. The Chairman of the National (Presidential) Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV Task Team, Prof. Atiene Sagay, said this in an interview with our correspondent during a meeting of the group in Abuja. Sagay said, “Between 50,000 and 70,000 children acquire HIV every year in Nigeria starting from their mother and this is an extremely damaging report because Nigeria is now the leading country in terms of new infant HIV every year and nearly one third of new infections every year worldwide is occurring in Nigeria. “This is not something that we want to continue and so we want to improve coverage of every facility that is providing antenatal care. That is what the group is working on with the Ministry of Health and President Goodluck Jonathan is bent on doing everything to make sure that this does not happen again.” Sagay added that the agency was determined to ensure that babies don’t acquire HIV from their mothers. Government has put in place means by which this can be prevented,” he added. Punch Nigeria |
Former South African President Nelson Mandela was discharged from the hospital Saturday, the country's presidential office said, "following a sustained and gradual improvement in his general condition." Mandela "will now receive home based high care," the statement said. The 94-year-old, who was South Africa's first black president, was admitted to the hospital on March 27. He has received treatment for a recurring lung infection and pneumonia. The governing African National Congress welcomed the news. "Let us continue to keep President Mandela and his family in our prayers as he continues to receive treatment from home," the party said in a statement. The presidential office did not specify whether Mandela would return to his home in Johannesburg or in his childhood village of Qunu. Each home is equipped with a mini clinic that can provide 24-hour care as he continues his recovery from this bout of pneumonia. Mandela, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, has become increasingly frail over the years and has not appeared in public since South Africa hosted the World Cup in 2010. His history of lung problems dates back to when he was a political prisoner on Robben Island during apartheid. He contracted tuberculosis during the 27 years he was imprisoned. He underwent treatment for a lung infection and had surgery to remove gallstones over the Christmas holiday in 2012, one of his longest hospital stays since his release from prison in 1990. President Jacob Zuma "thanks the hard working medical team and hospital staff for looking after Madiba so efficiently," the statement from the presidential office said. "He also extended his gratitude to all South Africans and friends of the Republic in Africa and around the world for support." Madiba is Mandela's clan name, and how he is widely referred to in South Africa. CNN

This is moji olaiya
|
Moji Olaiya, actress anddaughter of highlife legend, Sir Victor Olaiya, insists in a recent interview that Nigerian actresses are not promiscuous. Let’s start with your film, Isese. How did you come about the title? Isese is a film about tradition. It tells a story about our tradition, how we behave and how we can sustain our tradition. Many things are happening, which are now eroding our culture and tradition. I believe we need to go back to our culture and let our children not believe that we don’t have tradition or culture. It is alleged that actresses are fond of dating certain people simply because they spent a lot of money on them? I don’t know what you mean by that. But for me, I am not dating any of them. I can’t speak for others. What gave you the impression that these people are dating any of us? You journalists are the ones who always write all these stories. The moment you see an actress with a man, you start writing those things that are not correct about the person. Some of your colleagues are dating them. Do you want me to mention their names? Please don’t mention any name here. But I can tell you that in that aspect, I am a saint. But do you agree that actors and actresses sleep with each other on location? It is possible. Sex is an adult game that requires both parties to agree. Since no one has ever complained of being raped, there should be no complaint about that. Other people in other professions also sleep with each other. What about sexual harassment in the industry? I don’t know about that since I have not being sexually harassed before. But that does not mean that actresses are promiscuous? Actresses are not promiscuous. The only thing is that they don’t enjoy privacy like other professionals. What a banker or journalist will get away with, an actress will never escape if she does such. The problem we have is that we are celebrities; anything we do is always seen as news. Have you ever dated anyone in the industry? Dating someone in your profession is not supposed to be a new thing. Can you tell me that, as a journalist, you have never dated a colleague? Bankers date bankers and lawyers date within their profession. So, the question of dating a colleague of mine should not arise. But you have not answered my question. The answer I gave to you takes care of you question. Who did you date? Did I tell you I dated anybody? Please don’t put words in my mouth. How is your relationship with your colleagues? I have a very cordial relationship with my colleagues. But we learnt you are at loggerheads with one of your female colleagues? Who? You tell me who you are having an issue with?I am not having an issue with anybody. On what basis should I be having an issue with a colleague of mine? Maybe because of a guy? I don’t know where you got that story from. I’m not having issues with anybody over a man. How did you join the industry? I actually joined the industry through Wale Adenuga Productions. I went for an audition and I was chosen to play the lead role. I can say it was through him that I joined the industry. What’s the title of the first film you featured in? The first film I acted in after Wale Adenuga’s No Pain, No Gain was Sunmibare, produced by Dimeji Ijaduade. I don’t even know how the deal was made, because it was done by Wale Adenuga himself. He was the one that bargained on my behalf. He just called to tell me that he had a job for me and I went for it. How would you describe the experience? It was beautiful. The one I did before that time was a weekly drama. So, it was a wonderful experience mixing with the who-is-who in the movie industry. What’s the worst experience you have had on location? It happened two years ago. I was robbed in a hotel. I lost cash and important documents. I just arrived from a foreign trip when the incident happened. What made it so painful was the fact that I was the only artiste that was there. Other cast members had finished their own parts and left. Have you at any time regretted being an actress? I have not regretted being an actress and I will never have any regret. There have been many stories about your marriage. Some say you have split from your husband because you could not have a child. What is the true story? I have vowed that I am not going to speak on that issue. When the time comes, I will say something on it. But people will continue with the damaging rumour if you don’t talk about it now. Let them continue with the rumour. I don’t care whatever they say about me. I have developed a thick skin . So, are you still with your husband? I have told you I will not answer that question. When it is time, I will speak out. Can you ask another question? I don’t want to entertain any question concerning my marriage again. That is more reason I put an embargo on press interviews, but the fact that we are friends made me grant you this interview. What is your plan for this year? I want to go to location again and come up with a good film that my fans will be proud of. I also want to achieve all my set goals this year. A word to your fans… I love them all; they should continue to support me. I really appreciate them; they made me who I am today. And I am not going to disappoint them. Source: PM News |

The astronomical rape incidents in India, I am not shocked this underwear is coming out of India. Women must do whatever it takes to protect our dignity as human, even if it involves shocking or killing attackers. Yeah, that is how I feel as a woman when it comes to rape. You try me, I will kill you with my last breath. The UK Sun Reports; THREE engineering students have come up with “anti-rape” underwear that gives an electric shock to attackers AND alerts cops. The trio designed a camisole underwired with a technology that can deliver up to 82 electric shocks. The garment has pressure sensors sewn in around the bust area that detect groping hands and send out the shock – which has the strength of a stun gun. The product also sends a message to police as well as to the family of the victim. The undergarment – dubbed Society Harnessing Equipment or SHE – was created by trainee automobile engineers from Chennai, India after the fatal gang rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapy student on a New Delhi bus last December. Last month a Swiss woman was attacked in the country and a British tourist told how she jumped out of her hotel window fearing a man was trying to molest her. Co-inventor Manisha Mohan said: “A person trying to molest a girl will get the shock of his life the moment pressure sensors get activated.” She explained that she and colleagues Niladri Basu and Rimpi Tripathy decided to put the wiring into the clothing after a survey showed most women were first groped on their breasts. The women are protected from the current by polymer insulation in the bra. The makers are currently fine-tuning the design – hoping the garment will be on sale by the end of this month. “Studying in a convent girls’ school, we were always taught to be good to everyone around and bear a cheerful smile. “After stepping into the real, cruel world we realised that our smile could not last for long as the threat to our purity and integrity always lingered on. “Lawmakers take ages to come up with just laws and even after that, women are unsafe. Hence, we have initiated the idea of self-defence, which protects the women from domestic, social and workplace harassment.” Source-The UK Sun |
A researcher at Western University in London surveyed more than 1,200 people and found egg consumption accelerates atherosclerosis or plaque build up on arteries. A researcher at Western University in London said he's found more evidence pointing to the harmful effects of egg yolks. He claims the cholesterol found in the yolk is almost as dangerous as smoking. Dr. David Spence says Canadians are being duped by what he calls "propaganda" from the egg industry. His most recent study of more than 1,200 people found egg consumption accelerates atherosclerosis or plaque build up on arteries. He said the culprit is the cholesterol found in the yolk, which is 237 mgs in a jumbo egg. "It's more than the cholesterol in a Hardee's monster thick burger which is two-thirds of a pound of beef, three slices of cheese and four slices of bacon," said Spence. Karen Harvey is the nutrition officer with Egg Farmers of Canada and a registered dietitian. She stands by the safety of eating egg yolks on a daily basis. "We have decades of clinical research demonstrating no link between egg consumption and an increased risk of heart disease," said Harvey. Spence says, he's looked at that research and accuses the egg industry of being selective about what it shares with the public. "They're just like the tobacco industry," he said. Canada's food guide lists two eggs as an alternative serving to meat. Spence said that would be well over anyone's recommended daily intake of cholesterol. |
You love someone so much more than they love you, you set the stage for that person to reject you. It's like putting pressure on someone to eat even though he or she is not hungry, and then resenting his or her inability to respond enthusiastically. Here are some signs that you've crossed the line between "loving" to "loving too much" . 1. You felt empty and unloved before you met him or her, but now you feel even emptier and insecure. 2. You want to talk to him or her every few hours/see him or her every few days but unlike you, he or she is able to go for long periods of time without talking to you or seeing you -- and it doesn't seem to bother him or her. 3. Your thoughts and feelings keep bouncing from "he or she loves me so much" to "it's all over, he/she is not going to call." 4. Much of your day is consumed thinking of this special person and developing strategies of what you'll say or do (and when) to make him/her see that you are meant for each other etc. 5. He or she seems extraordinarily independent and this is driving you nuts. He or she even makes you feel you could Be Intimate with someone else and it wouldn't matter. 6. One moment you find yourself unable to refrain yourself from telling him or her that he or she is unfair, selfish, insensitive, unmotivated, unpolished, boorish, depressed etc. and the next moment you are professing your love and desire for a committed relationship. 7. You live for his or her love -- and in moments of insecurity you try to squeeze out some words or actions that reassure you that he or she loves you and is there to stay -- although deep inside you know that putting pressure on him or her is the worst thing to do. 8. You feel like you are getting mixed signals from him or her (you probably are). One moment he or she is open and wants to be close and the next, his or her words and actions seem to say "I need my space' or "leave me alone". 9. You're are trying so badly to please him or her, and do things to show him or her that you are deeply in love, and in the process losing your spontaneity and "in the moment" demeanor to the point that you are becoming increasingly "too serious' and "overly sensitive'. 10. You want to (and actually do) talk about the relationship more than he or she wants to. And many of your talks about the relationship leave you feeling more insecure, unlovable and second-rate. 11. There is another man or woman in the picture -- and your man or woman can't seem to get him or herself to end the relationship with that other man or woman. You can see that he or she is genuinely conflicted because he or she loves the other person too -- or more! 12. Your assessment of where the relationship is at is different from his or hers -- and when you point this out, he or she says you are making him or her feel pressured for something he or she can't give or isn't ready for. 13. His or her life -- professional and social -- seems so full that there is not much room for you. Try as you do to get in, you always feel like the "outsider" and he or she is not doing much to include you. 14. The last time you tried to back away a little to gain more perspective on the relationship, you couldn't even pull that one through. You got so scared that a little distance might end the relationship completely. 15. You Be Intimate with him or her because you think that that's what he or she wants, You hope and pray that the closeness of sex will bring the two of closer to each other -- but it only makes you feel used. 16. You are constantly rationalizing the negatives and straining to believe him or her, even when what he or she is saying defies simple common sense. 17. You are obsessed with trying to interpret, understand and clarify his or her every word and action. You are constantly searching for internet articles, asking friends and even strangers what they think -- does he or she love me or not? 18. He or she is in total control his or her feelings and of the relationship. You are the powerless clinger. 19. Your anxiety is on the high end -- you are really afraid that this relationship might end (and expecting it to) anytime really soon. 20. There is a part of you that just wants to end it all -- actually wants him or her to leave so that you can regain your lost power (feel normal again), yet you are frightened of that prospect too. Loving too much is a relationship-killer! Loving somebody so much more than they love you is the reason why many relationships end suddenly, abruptly and pain. You are left feeling shocked, betrayed and deeply hurt. Interestingly, most men and women end the relationship with you, not because they no longer love you but because your compulsive "too much loving" is often experienced by the other person as engulfment, pressure and control -- IT IS. And it's a big turn off! |
have any doubt about your lady’s honesty, these five indicators are the ones to look out for. Women don't cheat if they're in a happy relationship - faithfulness is almost hardwired into the female condition. But there is an exception. According to the Kinsey Institute, 26% of married women cheat, or have had extra-marital sex once before their 40th birthday. If you're questioning her loyalty, here's what to look for. 1. She says your boep is really cute Take it from science, she doesn’t mean it. Adopt the following simple test: look into her eyes as she speaks. If she hardly blinks while talking, then flutters her eyelashes when she stops, she just lied to you. See? Shape up man. 2. She’s not interested in her birthday Anniversaries of any kind are like Cup Finals to most women. But significant decade or half-decade birthdays can trigger dangerous levels of navel-gazing, or worse, wandering minds. At times like these, “she’ll think deeply about her love life, and if it’s not going the way she planned, she might jump at the chance to redress the balance with an affair”. There are two nights when every woman wants a man in her bed: her birthday and New Year’s Eve. Leave her solo and you’re giving her permission to cheat. 3. She’s been promoted but plays it down “Women like to have projects and goals. So when she reaches a milestone in her career, she’s likely to think: now what?” What’s more, women with fat salaries are more likely to stray. A University of Washington study found that those who earned upwards of R500 000 per annum were twice as likely to cheat. Make a big deal of your other half’s achievements: she wants to feel as highly valued by you as her employers. 4. She’s moved in with you. And it’s fine. Fine is not good. Fine is too comfortable. Fine means an affair could be on the horizon. Fine is bad. Hell, it doesn’t matter if moving in was her idea: the goalposts have shifted. As soon as you become the wallpaper in her life, other men – at work, at the gym – become more exotic. Make it clear that co-habiting is a starting point rather than a final destination. And make sure you treat nights in as you might have done date nights previously. Silent episodes in front of the TV could result in her “interpreting this as you thinking she’s boring”. 5. She thinks you cheated first If she suspects you’ve played away, it’s natural for her own self-control to be weakened. The key to keeping her close is to confess when you’ve done wrong. Research shows that 86% of couples who discuss one partner’s affair were still together once they’d talked it over. If you can’t be good, be honest. And remember: women excel at revenge. |

I have seen many faces, black, yellow, cream, etc. But a type of face that stands out is the one with tribal marks . Tribal marks are peculiar to most tribes in naija. It was known to serve two purposes - identification and beatification. These days i see people mock anyone with tribal marks. Calling them 'fight lion', 'tiger claws' , etc. All i want to know is if there's anyone out there that will allow his/her kid to have a mark on the face. I will love to read the opinion of people with tribal marks too. |
A terrified teenage girl predicted her own death on Facebook just minutes before she lost her life at the hands of a drunken driver, a court heard today. Kayleigh Lawrie, 14, pleaded to be allowed to get out of the car being driven by her father's friend because she was so scared by his ‘Formula One’ style driving. Kayleigh, who had already posted a message on Facebook saying ‘I think I’m going to die’, was told by her father Scott Lawrie not to be so stupid. Moments later the driver Steven Hayter - who was twice over the drink-drive limit - lost control of his Renault Clio on a country road near Kayleigh’s home in Willoughby, Lincolnshire. He was attempting to retrieve a cigarette he had dropped in the foot well. The car skewed across the road into a ditch and then flew 60ft through the air before crashing down. Kayleigh, who was on the back seat, died instantly. A 13-year-old boy in the car suffered a fractured skull and facial injuries. Lincoln Crown Court was told that Hayter had been on a seven-hour drinking session the previous night and then after a few hours sleep drank wine before setting out on his journey to visit a bank in the resort of Skegness. Andrew Scott, prosecuting, said that on the night before Hayter drank four pints of lager in his village local before driving to the nearby town of Alford where he had another four pints and several double vodkas and coke. Then, during the early hours he had a large glass of wine before downing a second large glass half an hour before setting off with Scott Lawrie, 37, and the two teenagers. Hayter twice almost went off the road within minutes of setting off and then forced an oncoming pick-up onto the verge when he took a bend on the wrong side of the road. Mr Scott said ‘At Alford the car stopped. The teenagers remained inside. Kayleigh posted a message on her Facebook page saying ‘I think I’m going to die. xx. luv you all’. ‘Kayleigh told him (Hayter) at the time she posted the message because she was scared.’ Hayter then called at a filling station and clipped the central pump island before reversing back and almost hitting another vehicle. He tried to fill up with diesel instead of petrol. Mr Scott said ‘While the defendant paid for his petrol the boy and Kayleigh told Scott Lawrie they wanted to get out of the car because they were so frightened. Scott Lawrie told them not to be so stupid. ‘The defendant returned to his car. When he drove away from the petrol station he accelerated away at a speed so great that his wheels span.’ ‘He started driving like a Formula One driver cutting up all the corners. The 13-year-old boy’s attention was focused on the speedometer which he read as 65 mph. As the vehicle reached the ditch there were screams and then the impact.’ Hayter himself suffered injuries and was taken to hospital. Tests taken more than four hours after the collision showed he was almost twice over the limit with a reading of 147 mgs of alcohol per 100 mls of blood. Hayter, a professional HGV driver, of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, admitted causing death by careless driving while over the limit. He was jailed for six years and disqualified from driving for two years. Recorder Timothy Spencer QC told him ‘Kayleigh lost her life because of your appalling driving. This was a wholly avoidable and wholly unnecessary tragedy. ‘The only explanation for what happened must be drink. Your alcohol level must have been extremely high indeed. I am not convinced about the necessity for the journey at all. ‘Chillingly Kayleigh realised just how bad your driving was and before you left the petrol station had already sent a Facebook message which foretold of the tragedy to come.' David Eager, defending, said Hayter had been left full of remorse. ‘He accepts he was solely responsible for Kayleigh’s death. That will lie heavily on his conscience for the rest of his life.’ Kayleigh’s mother Charlotte Buxton, in a tribute to her daughter, said ‘Kayleigh was a bright, happy, bubbly and loving 14-year-old, who lived life to the full. She loved animals, which included her rag doll cat, Sapphire, and her dog, Luna. ‘Kayleigh was strong-willed and knew what she wanted out of life. Kayleigh loved fashion and wasn’t afraid to experiment with her looks, although it often got her into trouble with school. She was good at French and loved cooking, especially cup cakes. ‘Kayleigh will be missed and loved always by all who knew her. http:///oIJkUxqqba |

The March 2013 issue of Y! magazine is out! This edition is covered by artiste and new record label owner Wizkid – in an interview by Adedoyin Jaiyesimi and photos by Kelechi Amadi-Obi. Wizkid is styled by Tiannah Styling’s Toyin Lawani. “As this magazine went to print, the rumours were just about confirmed in public and sources had certainly confirmed in private,” said Chude Jideonwo, its editor- in-chief. “The amazing talent powerhouse called Wizkid had aggressively parted ways with EME, the label powered by Banky W - interesting news in light of what he told us only weeks before.” In the cover story titled ‘No kidding’, Wizkid speaks frankly about his background, the history of his music, the evolution of his sound and the people who have made him what he is now – including former manager Osagie Osarenkhoe and Empire Mates Entertainment boss Banky W. The shoot was anchored by the iconic Kelechi Amadi-Obi, with styling by Toyin Lawani of Tiannah Styling. As always, Y! magazine – reputed as “high priest of the youth culture” – is a fine mishmash of the trending topics for young Nigerians; in lifestyle, pop culture, fashion and a journey through the issues.
