Yes he can. But, he has to follow certain guidelines. CONSENT Consent should be taken. Usually a verbal consent is fine, but if the doctor is too defensive, he might take a written consent. And the consent part is required even when a male doctor is examining the private parts of a male patient. And by consent, it means informed consent. The doctor should briefly tell the patient what he is going to do, then wait for consent, and then proceed with the procedure, if affirmative. If at any scenario, any patient willingly refuses any form of medical advice, then this fact should be mentioned in written, with a signature of the patient and his relatives to attest the refusal. It is important, so that the doctor may not land into any legal issue. Also, the consent should be valid. Usually, minors(below age 18 years) cannot give consent, and the consent is to be taken from their guardians. But, as far as I know, consent for a private part examination can be given by any person above the age of 12 years. Any person, deemed mentally unfit by a competent authority, is also deemed unfit to provide a valid consent, and hence such consent needs to be given by the patients guardian. FEMALE ATTENDANT/CHAPERONE A male doctor should keep a female attendant alongside with him, while he examines the female patient. The female attendant is necessary due to legal and cultural issues. Legal, because a Doctor might be sued for professional misconduct, and a lack of female attendant goes against him. Cultural, because two people alone in a closed room, one male and another female, not blood related, is considered culturally inappropriate by many. The female attendant too should be of valid age and sound mind. PRIVACY Such a private examination requires privacy. Sadly, this is the most neglected part. The patient needs to be comfortable while he/she is being examined. But, here in Indian Public Hospital settings, privacy is hard to find. Mainly because of overflow of patients and lack of proper infrastructure. Examintaion rooms are either absent, or limited. Same is the case with screens/curtains. The screens/ curtains even if available, are generally inadequate, with less than the desired length and peep holes in some of them. If the patient requests for a female doctor, one can heed to such a request, if a female doctor is available. Thank you. |

A lot of Nigerians have no clue how most Nigerian states got their names and i was in this category until i read through. Did you know that most Nigerian states were named after Rivers? Na wah! 1. ABIA: Abia is an acronym derived from the name of the four main groups of people in the state as at the time it was formed in 1991: Aba Bende Isuikwuato Afikpo 2. ADAMAWA: This state was named after a warrior that conquered the region in the beginning of the 19th century. His name was Modibbo Adama Bin Ardo Hassan. 3. AKWA–IBOM: Akwa Ibom is named after a river, the Qua Iboe (or Kwa Iboe) River. 4. ANAMBARA: It was derived from the name of the Oma Mbal (Omambala)River (in Ibo, the native name of the river is Ànyịm Ọma Mbala). 5. BAUCHI: There are three versions of how Bauchi got its name. One version says ‘Bauchi’ is Hausa word meaning the southern planks of Hausa land. Tribes living in the southern parts of the Hausa land were referred to as “kasashen bauchi” and the area they lived in later came to be known simply as Bauchi. According to the second version the state was named for Baushe, a famous hunter who settled there before the 19th century while the third states that ‘bauchi’ is Hausa word for slavery since it was a center for slave raiders. 6. BAYELSA: Bayelsa was formed as a result of the clamour from the three LGAs in old River (Brass LGA known as BALGA, Yenegoa LGA known as YELGA and Sagbama LGA – SALGA). The name came about from the combination of their acronymns. BA+YEL+SA = BAYELSA. 7. BENUE: It is a word from the Batta language ‘Binuwe’ which means ‘Mother of Waters’. 8. BORNO: The name was derived from ‘Borno’, an alternative name of the Kanuris who form the predominant ethnic group in the state. 9. CROSS RIVER: The state took its name from a River called Oyono or Cross River. 10. DELTA: It was named from the delta of the River Niger which formed as it enters the Atlantic Ocean. 11. EBONYI: The state was named after the Aboine River that cuts through Abakaliki, the state capital. 12. EDO: Named after the Bini people who had always referred to themselves as Edo or Iduu. 13. EKITI: ‘Ekiti’ is a term that is said to denote a settlement of many hills “Okiti” 14. ENUGU: Enugu derived its name from two local words enu ugwu which means ‘top of the hill’. 15. GOMBE: Named after the dialect of Fulani language (Fulfulde)spoken in the area ‘Gombe’. 16. IMO: This state is named after the Imo River (Imo Mmiri). 17. JIGAWA: The state was named after its distinctively golden-coloured soil, Jigawa. 18. KADUNA: The state after the crocodiles in Kaduna River. Kadunas is Hausa plural word for crocodiles. 19. KOGI: The name Kogi was said to have be derived from ‘kogin’, hausa for river. This is to represent the fact that the two biggest Rivers in Nigeria, River Niger and River Benue form a confluence in the state. 23. KWARA: This was named after the River Niger which forms the Northern border of the state. The Nupes used to call the river Kwara. 25. LAGOS: The name is a Portuguese word for lakes. TARABA: The state was named after the Taraba River. 35. YOBE: The state was named after Komadugu Yobe (Waube or Ouobe) or River Yobe (or River of Yo). 36. As we all know that Geography is the father of all courses “trust me in geography we study almost everything about the world which include various decipline. In geography we have courses like Social geography,Political geography,Manufacturing geography,Medical geography,Economic geography,Biogrography, Geography of tropical agriculture,Tourism,Environmental law, Geomorphology,Hydrology and many more. Geographers are full of ideas, wisdom, knowledge and they also adopt the concept of environmentalism and they are well known as master planners. A body of theories, or perhaps better called perceptions , exists regarding the interactions and affects between human beings and the physical environment. The debate amongst these ideas centers around the role of the environment: is it deterministic, is it irrelevant , or is it a matter of influence that differs based on a host of mutable factors. Many authors have spent considerable time and political capital debating these ideas, and defending particular positions. In view of this we should attempt to outline some of these ideas, and include examples that either support or deny these various perspectives. Broadly, we will focus on 3 concept. 1. Environmental determinism : the notion that the physical environment has a massive and often controlling (and perhaps never-changing and generationally stable) affect on human beings, in essence dictating their abilities in all realms of life and society. Clark University professor Ellen Churchill Semple is credited with introducing the theory to the United States after studying with human geographer Friedrich Ratzel in Germany. Between 1920 and 1940, environmental determinism came under repeated attack as its claims were found to be severely flawed. Geographers reacted to this by first developing the softer notion of "environmental possibilism ," and later by abandoning the search for theory and causal explanation for many decades. Later, critics charged that determinism served to justify racism and imperialism . The experience of environmental determinism has left a scar on geography, with many geographers reacting negatively to any suggestion of environmental influences on human society. Some believe this rejection has gone too far, and that incorporating environmental factors into explanations of social outcomes is not only useful but necessary. 2. Possibilism or "Cultural determinism" , two related notions. Cultural determinism is the stronger of the two, in essence a rejection of the environment as a controlling influence. It claims that cultures are the result of human agency and action, and that the environment is largely a non-issue. Possibilism gives more credence to the environmental role, seeing it more from the position of sizeable influencer I.e man can conquere his environment through his ability, culture and technology. Some scholars today believed that human beigns are not pawn and our environment cannot take total control, this paradigm shift today brought the ideas of inventing Air condition, fan, artificial cloud seeding, planes fertilizer etc 3. Probabilism or "cultural ecology" , sometimes seen as a compromise or synthesis of Environmental Determinism and Cultural Determinism, but more rightly seen as a more open-ended treatment of the possibility that sometimes the environment is a key inlfuence, while at other times human actions are more so. Often tied to this discussion is the notion of cost-benefit analysis of any human actions with relationship to the environment I.e its either we can do it or not because there are certain things we can change or stop e.g earth quakes, volcanoe eruption, climate change etc The world we live today, the settings, the development, etc were planned by geographers.*fact* Our environment has provided so many opportunities which is now left for you to choose on your own free will, you can decide decide to b rich and you can decide to be poor*slysinzu 2016* |
No matter how careful we are, we can’t always escape the increasing number of diseases lurking in our daily lives in Nigeria, below are the most common of such diseases and how they can be effectively prevented. 1. Malaria: Malaria is leading cause of morbidity and mortality in our country, this disease is caused by plasmodium species whose vector is the anopheles mosquito; it is usually transmitted by mosquito bites. Malaria can be prevented by eradicating mosquitoes or preventing bites, simple ways to do this include Keeping a clean environment; clear drainages and gutters Cut down grasses and clear swamps around your house Sleep under a mosquito net(preferably the treated ones) Spray your room with good insecticides twice weekly Window nets have been found to be helpful in preventing bites Mosquitoes are attracted by sweat, so it is essentially to take a bath before going to bed and making your bedroom cool See your physician once you notice this symptoms( fever, joints pain, headache, bitter taste in the mouth and fatigue) 2. Common cold or Flu : Common cold as the name depicts is everywhere, it is also known as nasopharyngitis or acute coryza is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract which affects the nose primarily causing sneezing, sore throat, cough and runny nose, it is usually self-resolving after about seven to ten days. The only possible ways to reduce the spread of the viruses are physical measures such as hand washing, reducing contact with anyone with symptoms and wearing of masks amongst health workers 3. HIV/AIDS : Human immunodeficiency virus is a slowly replicating retrovirus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome; an infectious disease in which progressive decline and failure of the human immune system leads to life threatening opportunistic infections and cancer.it can be prevented by the following practice Proper use of condom during sexual intercourse Proper screening of blood before transfusion Avoid sharing share objects Safe injection practices Proper circumcision of male children Post exposure prophylaxis to health workers and rape victims 4. Pelvic Inflammatory disease : This is a term for inflammation of the uterus, fallopian tubes and/or ovaries as it may progress and lead to infertility; it is usually caused by bacteria, fungal or parasites. route of spread is usually via sexual intercourse or via post abortal sepsis and intrauterine device insertion. If untreated it could lead to infertility or ectopic pregnancy. Below are ways to prevent PID Abstinence /proper human sexual behaviour Use of barrier methods such as condoms or diaphragm Avoid vaginal douching Good personal hygiene; never wear a panties twice Periodic pelvic examination and STI testing to screen for symptomless PID See a gynaecologist once you notice any abnormal vaginal discharge Treating partners to prevent reinfection or spread to other people 5. Hypertension : This is also known as high blood pressure and it simply means that the blood pressures in the arteries are elevated and this requires the heart to work harder than normal to circulate blood through the vessels. Blood pressure is summarised by two measures systolic(when the heart contracts) and diastolic( when the cardiac muscles are relaxed).High blood pressure is present when the pressure is 140/90mmHg and above, this is a major risk factor for stroke, heart failure, myocardial infarction and chronic kidney disease. This disease can be prevented by the following Maintain normal body weight for adults; body mass index of 20-25kg/m2 Reduce dietary salt intake Engage in regular aerobic exercise daily Limit alcohol consumption Eat lots of fruits and vegetables 6. Acute diarrhoea: Diarrhoea is very common water and food-borne disease. Caused by a wide range of enteric organism, symptoms include passage of loose stools, fever, abdominal cramps and sometimes vomiting. 1. Don’t drink too much water before working out It’s true you have to drink while you workout as well but there is no use in drinking liters of water just before the workout. Even before you start going back and forth to the bathroom, it might make you feel heavy and feel nuisance while working out. 2. Don’t workout on an empty stomach Just like your vehicle won’t go without fuel, you won’t be able to workout without energy. Eat something light before you arrive to the gym, an energy bar, yogurt with granola or even a slice of light-bread toast could do the job just fine. You should finish eating about 30 minutes before you start your workout. If you work out really early in the morning and can’t really bring yourself to eat anything – Try eating a small fruit. 3. Don’t eat a meal which is too heavy before gym If you read the last paragraph and decided to fill yourself up before working out, hold on a second. This is all about quantity. Eating too heavy can cause problems. It’s important you’ll understand that digesting food also counts as work and you can’t do two things at once. 4. Dont work out on the expanse of sleeping hours Sometimes getting too excited about working out makes us give up a lot of things like enough sleep, but this one can eventually harm you. Lack of sleep can cause your heart rate to be faster, be more tired, unstable and unfocused. All of these can cause you to leave the gym early due to exhaustion. 5. Dont come to the gym after drinking too much coffee If you are one of those people who drink a few cups of coffee a day, than one more cup won’t make a big difference. If you are not that into coffee and want to drink one cup before working out to be more awake, don’t do it unless you want to spend most of the time running back and forth to the bathroom. 6. Don’t eat too much fiber packed foods before the workout You probably want to give the body some energy before working out, but think when should you do it exactly. You should give your body some time to digest the fibers – Eat these atleast 3 hours before the gym. 7. Don’t workout without goals It’s true that working out is fun and everything, but it’s better to write down goals that will give the workout a meaning, like – losing weight, be ripped or just get in shape. Keep track of your progress towards the goal and keep putting more goals as you go. even if Na babe u find go there focus on dat it will even motivate u (lol). 8. Don’t drink protein shake before working out It sounds good ,tasty and healthy but it won’t do any good to your body. Because of the long time it takes the body to digest proteins, the energy will arrive only after you finish your workout. If you want energy for the gym – try eating some carb based food. Keep the protein shake for after the workout. 9. Don’t skip warming up and stretching Many people think this part can be skipped, but it’s actually very important and can keep you from getting injured. Start each workout with at least 5 minutes of warming up. |
sure boy! I wanna b like u man(thumbs up) |

Newly wedded wife, Jamila Saidu Umar is now cooling her heels in police cell in Katsina State after being arrested for pouring hot water on her husband, Aminu Umar, during an argument over séx. It was gathered that Umar incurred his wife’s wrath when he accused her of not performing to his expectation in bed. The suspect, Jamila Saidu Umar said “I have confessed my sin to the police at the State CID. I got married to my husband five days before the incident happened and I am his sixth wife. “My husband had séx with me many times and on each occasion after the act, I would have to use hot water to treat the wound I sustained during the séx. “My husband loves séx too much and there is no day he would have séx with me that I would not be treating wounds in my body with hot water. “He complained that I didn’t satisfy him in the bed and that if I must remain with him I must agree to have séx and satisfy him always. I don’t know why he loves séx so much.” Jamila further explained that an argument ensued between her and her husband on the day of the incident over séx. “He kept accusing me of not performing to his satisfaction in bed and he started beating me. “Suddenly I remembered that I had hot water on fire, which I was preparing for his bath. I rushed to the kitchen in annoyance and carried the hot water and poured all on him.” “Neighbours who were nearby rushed in and rescued him and took him to the General Hospital in Katsina where he is receiving treatment.” Narrating his ordeal, the victim, Aminu Umar said, “I instructed my wife to prepare hot water for me to bathe and we had a quarrel. My wife suddenly rushed into the kitchen and carried the hot water and before I knew what was happening, poured the hot water on me. I began to shout for help but she continued pouring the hot water on me. “As I was shouting for help, the good people in the neighbourhood came to my rescue.” Speaking on the incident, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Hurdi , said the ugly incident occurred about 10.00am in the Quarter Area of Katsina. According to the commissioner, the suspect poured the hot water she was preparing for her husband’s bath due to the cold weather, on him during an argument, which resulted in a fight. “The couple were just five days into their marriage when the incident occurred,” Hurdi said. He said it was the husband’s cry for help that attracted good Samaritans who rescued and rushed him to the General Hospital in Katsina where he is receiving treatment. The police commissioner said the suspect was in police custody and would soon be charged to court. Source: The Sun |

I think they are not just the best rapper in Nigeria, but the best rapper in Africa. Like, they are not even on anyone's level.they shouldn't even be on this list. We should be comparing Mode9 and M.I to Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and the likes and not Olamide,Phyno or vector.cus I believe their own style is diff.. That's my personal opinion. What do you think of the list? Who agrees with it? |

Marriage counselors always say that the key problems in relationships, especially marriage, are money, sex, communication and in-laws. This is very true. When we talk about in-laws in marital problems, mothers- in-law top the chart for many reasons. The truth is that not all mothers-in-law are troublesome; in fact, most times, it is the mindset of the couple that creates the problems. Most people expect their partners’ mothers to cause problems in their relationships and guess what? You get what you expect! Imagine that your partner is upset about something and there is a heated argument either between you and your partner in your mother’s presence, or between your partner and your mother in your presence, then suddenly, your partner gives your mother a hot slap! Gbam!!! I can hear you say God forbid”! These things happen and such things have wrecked relationships. Except your partner is in the habit of slapping his own mother and other elders, and your mum just happens to be the next victim, this is a had one to swallow. Wise people know that if someone wants to have a good relationship with his/ her partner, he/she should be ready to love or at least be civil to the partner’s family and friends. It does not make sense to say you love someone and want to remain bonded to the person if you are not ready to have a healthy relationship with her family members, no matter how unpleasant you think they may be. Also, our culture, and even common sense, demands a level of respect for elders, especially our own parents and parents of our partners. This is why I cannot comprehend any reason why a man should slap his partner’s mother, no matter the provocation. Unfortunately, the person who will be in the most awkward spot is the child of the woman who was slapped, especially if she is in a “till-deathdo- us-part situation”. In my opinion, a woman can only think about how to react in such a situation if she is married to the man. If the man is not her husband, then she should thank God for the ‘escape opportunity’ and flee! A man that can slap your mother when he is just one leg in, can kill her when he marries you! Men usually exercise extra caution when they are still trying to obtain the lifetime license, so just know that whatever he dishes out during dating and courtship is just a tip of the iceberg – a tiny fraction of the whole package which will be opened during marriage. Now, when it is your husband that has slapped your dear mother during a heated argument, you are definitely in hot soup because both of them will be looking straight at you to see whose side you take. Believe me, I cannot imagine any middle ground in this kind of situation. In fact, I do not know how I would react. However, silence seems to be some kind of ‘first aid’. Just do not say anything. You can just cry and pray to God because only He can give you the right answer. In fact, this is a good time to pray that such a situation never occurs because that kind of slap can be likened to a bullet in your heart. So, what should you do if your partner slaps your mother during a heated argument? It is a really tough call!! |
