geemailer2019: It would usually take a few days to update your profile after they receive the package, but i would suggest reaching out to them to confirm what's causing the delay, bearing in mind we're facing unusual circumstances and there may be layoffs and limited work hours that could possibly delay service delivery from organizations. Thanks for your help, I have sent emails. I'd call now and reach out via Twitter as someone else suggested. Gracias |

Nacho4: Might sound absurd to do so, bit a colleague advice I call them out on Twitter @Wescanada or so. They usually respond Asap. My status changed within 30mins of calling em out.
Something like "please what's going on @WESCanada. I sent my transcript wit wes number 1234567 on so and so date and it was delivered on so and so date with tracking number so and so but you are yet to acknowledge receipt on my profile. Kindly look into this"
Sounds totally absurd to do something like that yea. But it has worked everytime with all my guys. Your status changes within 30mins, 1hr That'd be great. A nice idea. Didn't know about this and have been bombarding them with emails all these while. Thanks for your help |

Faithyyyyy: If you can call wes directly it will help guide you better. Wait times is like 45 mins sha. Last time i called after sending my documents i was told they aren't attending to couried documents at the moment as they have a huge backlog due to the pandemic. They asked me to call back after a month. Fortunately for me i was able to share my result via myEquals platform for foreign schools and got my assessment in two days. I just wasted money Yeah, I guessed the delay might be due to the backlog, layoffs and work from home caused by Covid-19. I will keep calling. Thanks, I'm really grateful |

ThowLou: As long as package was signed off by Maple, call them and let them know your package is with them. Give them the tracking no and ask them when it will be updated. If they don’t respond after 48hrs, call again and don’t stop calling till your status is updated. It’s about 3pm there now, so you can call them today so it can be sorted by Monday if possible Thanks, I will do just that. I appreciate |

Good evening everyone. Please, I have some issues with my Wes verification. My school sent my transcript to Wes via courier, UPS precisely and gave me a tracking code. The package/transcript has been delivered to Wes 7 days ago as shown by ups, but Wes is yet to acknowledge receipt of package and my profile still shows
STATUS :ON HOLD. WE ARE WAITING FOR YOUR DOCUMENTS.
Please my question is, how long does it take for Wes to acknowledge receipt of credentials? Mine is about a week now, yet no acknowledgement I've sent emails but I haven't had any luck with that either. |

2fine2fast: Congratulations Dr Ihim.
However, Nairaland is supposed to be an educative platform like the likes of Reddit, Quora, etc. And I will continue to view it as such. Thus, permit me to educate interested fellows and upcoming scientist in my own little way. 1. A search of the article on "google scholar", a search engine dedicated for academic publications showed that the study was done in 2015. So can someone kindly tell me the media hype surrounding the publication 5 years after? 2. The principal investigator of the research was Murad Bani Hani, being listed as the first author. Our compatriot is the second author. In scientific research, and i would like to believe in all other types of researches, the main credit of the work is given to the first author who most atimes carried out the main part of the study. 3. Furthermore, the journal in which the study was published " BMC Nursing" is a low-tier journal in the circle of serious scientific publications. It has no real "Impact Factor" which is usually the Clarivate Analytics ranking of the impact of journals. I for once would not consider publishing my work in such journals. In addition BMC journals are not well-indexed, researches are considered to be valuable when they are placed in top-indexed, peer-reviewed journals published by Nature, Elsevier, Springer, ACS , RSC, sometimes MDPI, and a few others I cannot recollect now. 4. In addition, the journal attracts a publication fee. This is a well-known trait of predatory journals which is considered an ethical issue in academics. Why would i carry out a cutting edge research and still pay money to inform the scientific community about it. Here in my faculty, all research published in paid journals raise concerns as it is believed they did not undergo rigorous peer review which is the hallmark of scientific communication.
Like i said earlier, this post is only meant to educate and not to vilify. It is also meant for the perusal of upcoming scientist in Nigeria. All through my study in NG, we never had this basic orientation. We came to better environment and realised that we knew close to nothing of the real scientific world and had to handle around for a while before we got our footings. An article like this making the headline and being celebrated on an important platform such as this underscores our knowledge as a country, which is a source of concern for serious Nigerian researchers scattered around the world. Sometimes ago, it was some people celebrating the sequencing of the COVID-19 genome, by Ghana and Nigeria respectively, these are not scientific feats, they are mere routine laboratory tasks.
In all, lets top celebrating mediocrity as a people as it undermine the respect other nationals have for us. I use this opportunity to pay my respect to indefatigable Nigerian Researchers doing their nation proud in various laboratories and research institutions scattered all over the world. Thanks. I'll like to connect with you, sir. You're a good man. |

The guy most likely had an Intracranial hemorrhage with increase in intracranial pressure and coned.
When he fell, he bled in his brain which increased the pressure insidd the skull. Let's be careful and more particular with our health. If he had gone to a hospital earlier, a CT-scan would have been done and it would have been managed in time.
Rest in peace to The dead. Amen |

From a medical standpoint, it would have been a death sentence.
Analyzing it in retrospect, that bullet gave an avulsion at the level of the right upper quadrant /right hypochondriac region which is the area of the liver.
The liver is notorious for bleeding heavily. She would even exsanguinate before getting to the hospital or before she undergoes surgery in the hospital.
Thank God indeed |

Not really a new thing nor an absurd idea. Post-mortem Photography was used long ago even in the Victorian Era to capture moments with the dead.
You can Google it and see some bizarre and more graphic ones done back in the days. |
