Jobs/Vacancies / Firm Tried To Swindle Over 1300 Jobseekers Of N5.2 Million by SnazzyBaba(m): 12:33pm On Dec 23, 2015
According to reports on Vanguard Newspapers plans by a firm, Firstgate Business Intermediaries Limited (FBIL), few months ago to pocket the sum of N5.2 million from 1,379 applicants in Nigeria through tempting international job offers has been halted through prompt intervention by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC).

Prior to the ICPC intervention, the company, through newspaper advertorials, had raked in the huge sum by offering job seekers mouth-watering remunerations through internship with foreign multinational companies and manufacturing industries.

ICPC in a statement yesterday in Abuja by its Media Consultant, Folu Olamiti, said that many applicants had rushed to apply, each paying the sum of N3, 500 demanded as non-refundable fee.

FBIL initially succeeded in enticing desperate job applicants by claiming that it was in partnership with the then Federal Ministries of Power, Youths & Sports Development and that of Trade and Investment to arrange the recruitment of Nigerian youths for international job opportunities.

The company, however, ran out of luck when the former Ministry of Youths Development disassociated itself from the antics of FBIL on job offers and published a disclaimer in some national dailies, which eventually attracted the attention of ICPC.

Findings have revealed that although the Federal Ministry of Power appointed the MD/CEO of FBIL, Mr Kelvin Asogwa its Consultant to undertake and drive its initiative for building the capacity of youths in six geo-political zones of the federation, it was never part of the plan to recruit and collect monies from applicants for unverified international job offers.

According to ICPC, the Federal Ministry of Power in its disclaimer had stated that it never authorised FBIL to advertise and charge fees from Nigerian youths on the initial assignment given to it.

The Ministry insisted that there was no communication from it to other Ministries who were listed as partners in the newspaper advertorial.
Consequently, the commission decided to freeze the account of FBIL after they had agreed to refund the monies it collected to affected applicants through ICPC Recovery account.

ICPC has advised affected applicants “to make formal written request for the refund of the fees which they had paid into the company’s First Bank Plc account Number 2027076297 by letter addressed to the Chairman (Attention: Head, FIU), ICPC, Plot 802, Central Business District, Abuja or send an email to info@icpc.gov.ng stating their full names, address, bank account and BVN numbers, telephone numbers and amounts paid.

“They should get further details through its website: www.icpc.gov.ng where the list of those applicants who paid has been posted,” the statement added.

However, the ICPC advised government Ministries or Agencies to always follow due process in appointing Consultants for specific jobs and to closely vet their backgrounds to avoid embarrassment involving raising of funds from desperate job-seekers.

Bosses in the house, pls are we suppose to certified and include WAEC Certificate too??

Also, should the Application number be indicated on the transcript??

olabode89:

1. Check www.studyinginfinland.fi for schools and programs.
2.Register and sit for an English language proficiency test ....IELTS, PTE or TOEFL....since you don't have time on your side, I will advise you sit for PTE Academic.
3.Process your transcript and get your university to send to UAF or the university depending on the school as stated in the program website.
4. Put together your application and send to the school before the deadline.

NB: This is for MSc aspirants. Also you need to take out sometime to read the thread from the beginning.

Boss Iceberg54, Is He suppose to send the document to AALTO or to UAF??

iceberg54:

Its strange since it was among the previous package.

But no problem send another one through nipost. Good thing is it gets there on time and Aalto will always acknowledge immediately so there is still time for a back up plan.

Cheers sir!

Each application requires different transcript identifiable by individual application numbers. Each transcript should be place in individual envelopes marked with individual App Number. Then the four envelopes can now be placed in a bigger envelope.

PHRANTAD:
Hello bosses in the house(Dahonestboss and others currently in Finland), i have applied to four different schools for masters studies starting in autumn 2016, all my documents is ready, just needed to go to my school tomorrow and explain to them how they would mail the transcript, when i first applied for the transcript i wrote the four schools(the four schs falls under UAF) as recipient of the transcript, however while filling application i realised i have to send all my documents to UAF in Helsinki. I would be in my school to give them go ahead to mail the transcript.
MY QUESTION
Since there are four schools with four different application numbers, would i instruct them to put four different transcripts of academic records in four different envelopes and put the four envelopes in a single bigger envelope that would now be addressed to UAF, since d application requirements of each school is different.
how should the transcript be packaged and sent?

Kindly help me answer this question

I am a graduate of M.sc in Mass Comm from Noun and i enjoyed studying there because i was able to combine working in a bank while studying and raising a family.

Secondly, the staff of Noun are the most courteous i have had the chance of meetingin a tertiary institution. I did not experience the corrupt side. Besides, in conventional institutions, there is corruption.

Thirdly, there is readily available reading material written by Professors from conventional University. The materials are so rich that i wish i had access to them during my undergraduate days.

Finally, research wise, i had the best experience. Because, lecturers in conventional university are assigned to supervise us. So if lecturers from University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, FUTA, Uniben, supervise ur project and thesis and you are still faulting the end result, then there is no difference between students or Open University and conventional universities. Research wise, i learnt alot at Noun and i am able to teach others what i learn't.

People should stop distracting and discouraging others. Its not everyone that will have d chance to attend conventional institutions.

Also, note that the caliber of people studying there are working class people who have busy schedules.

Thanks
