Greetings...

Please, is there any course or program that a DVM ( Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) can do in the US that will make him/her a Human Doctor?

I heard there is a course to undergo for good six months in the US that will equate a DVM to Human doctor but I do not have any idea about it or if at all its true or not.

Please if you have any information on this, do not hesitate to explain to me. Thanks

They are not the same, so there is no course you can do. You either go to med school for four years to get your MD or continue as a vet. Good luck !

My story continues...Honestly people should listen to gurus here for advice..prepare wella before coming..I am in a temporary accommodation here organized by international centre but I smell some difficulty ahead because we are just five Nigerians here.. I dnt even knw who to share apartment with..Na white community,I am thinking of going back now..please I need advice.. This is my story.. I was not doing pretty well in Nigeria before,so I decided to opt for a master degree in order to boost my profile..After the process had reach 95%..I got a contract outside naija.. Whx was $5k/per month, the contract was suppose to be 6months but I discovered payment voucher is being raised every 3months..I got TA offer in school, school resumption coincide with visa expiry.. Because of fear of unknown I came to US..so that I won't lose on both sides.cos my second. Payment might or might not be raised..I have resumed my TA job, started classes..I have even started discussing RA job with the prof in the future but my company is asking me to come back and finish my contract... I am thinking of deferment but I dnt want to look bad to the prof becos i need this kind package wen nxt am coming back..I am confused as hell..Ojap,imperrilox,Msnas and other gurus..i need help..I only came to US with $10k(two salary wey I do) so I am scared as hell. Tuition $6k for one yr becos of the TA position I got..TA position/$700 per month, cost of living is low here too.I can only take care of myself for a yr..na the other yr dey make me fear ..na why I wanted to change to Canada the other time but I dropped it cos of advice here..make una no abuse me oh..abegi una..I fit use $25k build house for my village and do masters in SA and still come back to US..na confused human being I be..lol..less I forget, one naija guy working with the prof..told me some people were praying I shdnt come cos they needed my fund too..I can defer till fall 2016 cos I can't make spring again..maybe I can work more and come back next yr but I still need TA/RA position.. How best can I break the news to him..abi make I sit down jejely since I don land.

Mheeen...sounds like you have some serious decisions to make. Your story just gave me questions, so I probably don't have a solution for you #sorry. This is the first thing that popped into my head....if you go back and complete your contract, what will you do till fall 2016 after completing the contract? Can you extend the contract? Will you stay at home till August next year doing nothing?
On the other end, I'm assuming you signed a six months contract. Is it wise to burn your bridges? Will the company be ok with you quitting "politely"? If you decide to stay put here, you'll probably be fine on $700 a month for a while if you cut your "suit" according to the "fabric yards". How many years is your program? Do some calculations based on how much you have right now in your account + TA pay, do u think u'd be fine for the length of your program? Do you think you need another job? Where do you want to be, what do you want?

Pardon my one million questions, just sharing my "weird thought process" grin. Anyways, go back to the drawing board, answer all the questions above, make a decision FAST and communicate the decision to the parties negatively affected (with apology). Good luck! smiley

Good Morning fellas
am so curious to know if the i 20 has changed and also, i transferred to a CC college, but the i 20 i received shows that my transfer is still pending, but the woman that issued it to me said is ok but i rejected it and walked away. My question is, will i have any problem with if i try to reenter in the US?

You walked away...na wa o. Walk back there sir, and iron out the ish. Transfer doesn't take forever to do. It's actual possible to complete a transfer within minutes if the person has everything in order. When is your school resuming? If you have resumed, then don't accept the "transfer pending I-20". As long as you have paid and showed them all required documents, tell them to complete your transfer and activate you. If your school hasn't resumed and/or you haven't completed all the required steps, accept the "pending I-20 and ask your DSO when you should come back for another I-20. It should be a matter of days. Don't travel until your transfer is all done, and you have your I-20. As for the liberal arts major, tell the DSO to change it to your proper major "computer science". You don't have to accept it if you are not ok with it, but you need to listen to your DSO , discuss and solve problems.

Hello all,

Pls i am applying for a student visa, its a short course in the US, my passport will expire in march 2016, my course starts in oct-nov. i don't really know the process of renewing my passport and i fear it would be a long process, and my visa interview is at the end of this month. Wud this be enough reason not to grant me visa? what wud be my best course of action?

Thanks
It's too early to renew your passport. You have to wait till next month, because you can only renew passports that will expire in 6months or less. Go to immigration office next month, and ask to renew your passport. Are you in Lagos? I might be able to help. I advise u to renew your passport before you go to the embassy.

Slimy &The flint, I get you guys point and I partially agree with you. For US benefit, you have to say the oath that renounces allegiance to any other foreign country/states. That doesn't mean you lose your Nigerian citizenship and other benefits. It's like saying because naturalized US citizens recited the oath of naturalization renouncing all other countries, they are no longer Nigerians. People still fly home with their nigerian passport and have their full nigerian benefits. For some countries, if you don't officially renounce your citizenship in your home country/embassy, even if you renounce it 150 million times else where, they won't revoke your citizenship.

It Baffles me to see posts like this, If you dont know, just Forward it to the best person who may know, Snazzygirl, I will tell you today, That In the Entire Social Sciences, There is no course as divergent as Psychology, say what you know.
Psychology penetrates the entire professional field you can ever mention, Police , Lawyer, Industries, Consulate, Transport company, just mention any job you know , i will tell you the psychologists there in, That Nigerians don't do it doesn't mean there are no Nigerians Doing it, Go to Nigerian Foreign affairs, without psychology as a second degree,(if you have an earlier degree apart from psychology) you cant make a promotion higher than an assistant of any department, Psychology in the United states is a mandatory almost In every midwifery and Nursing department, Psychology, a Masterpiece in Expertise, If you wanna get ahead in that job of yours, Just try getting psychology as a second degree if you have one or a first and try adding a certification, That is what we call expatriates in Nigeria.

Must you always comment. I'm only gonna say this once because you are someone to be ignored....teach your arrogant self to read, apply brains before typing. The title of the discussion with akagson isn't "is psychology diverse"? Every Tom, Jane and Harry know it is diverse, and it cuts across all fields and speciality. The point is is psychology beneficial to akagson in his present state as an international student coming to America. If akagson wanted to start a career as a civil servant, I don't think he would be moving to the states right now. We are talking of clinical psychology on an phd level with private practice, you are yarning nursery school psychology. Please take a seat!

Is the pay package for a speech pathologist good enough?

Nothing is ever good enough. It depends on the individual. It's a good way to start though. I think the average is about 70k/year. We all have to start from somewhere.

No way, you can't be in U.S. Military and hold dual citizenship, they do not only want confused people, also people who cannot pledge allegiance. I have a friend who is just went in for his training (US navy), he was formerly a commissioned officer (DSSC) in the Nigerian Navy before he came to US and got married here.

Not entirely true. The only thing done officially is to pledge allegiance to the US. Even civilians do that during citizenship ceremony. Your dual citizenship might not be recognized, but nobody officially takes it away from you. Your foreign passport remains yours, and your foreign documents remain valid.

I asked this question on my own thread but haven't received any response yet. This is the exact question below. Hope someone talks to me :

" I want to study in the US but I'm in dilemma as to which course (major) I'm to study that would be beneficial when I come back here to Nigeria. I wanted to study Psychology but from the reviews from American students and graduates, they say Psychology isn't a very good major in USA owing to the fact that it has one of the lowest paid salaries and high unemployment rate. Can a Psychology degree be useful in Nigeria for me? If not, what course would you advise me to study that would have a high ROI?
Note : I don't think I can do any Engineering"

Forget psychology for now. As an international student, it doesn't benefit u here or in naija. Psychology isn't developed in Nigeria, and we still have a long way to go. Get a degree that will increase your chances of staying here if that's what you want. Think IT, speech pathology, physical therapy, etc. if psychology is your passion, focus on a degree in healthcare that's more beneficial to you right now. When you finally get your bearing or start processing your papers, you can apply to a grad school and get your psychology doctorate. Just remember to take psychology courses along the way. Best of luck dear!

On a Scale of applying for a Visa 10 times, You will get the visa 9 times, This shouldnt be a testimony, we need men and women who used nothing to get something, Thats motivation, it is mediocre to say "a bird can fly" a bird should fly, Christ!!!

You need to chill sir! It took me a while to believe my eyes; I had to read your replies a couple of times. It's his/her story, let him/her tell it with gratitude. Not everybody in Zenithforce's shoe got US visa, so back off. I'm sure you know you can do better.

Good day house,
I will like to make inquiries about some things i am a little bit confused with. I am planning to send my credentials over for WES evaluation, i will like to know if the ICAP course by course option will be okay, and approximately how long it is going to take.
Also, most of the schools I've researched on and planning to apply to for graduate studies only require an official copy of transcript directly sent from the university of my undergraduate study, I will like to know if the WES evaluated transcript can suffice in such cases.
Thanks everyone

cc: slimmy05 profojah mystiqme zeezahbee bigfrancis

ICAP is fine. nobody knows how long it will take cz each case is different. It also depends on how fast your school is with transcripts. Just start now, and zero your mind it might take as long as 2months or more, so u won't be disappointed. The third question is directed at the wrong people. Email your admission counselors, and find out what they are willing to accept. Let them know WES sends a verified copy of the transcript in addition to the evaluation report. Hopefully they will be ok with that. Schools have diff policies.

Slimmy:

This hard and bitter truth that you are saying here; there is God ooo smiley. But jokes apart, you've said it all. However, there are still some good girls in America who are brought up well, and will make good wives. There are bad girls in Nigeria too, so it is every where.

To all the beautiful women here:

Please don't have the mind set that oyinbo guys are looking for black women. There are plenty of them here already still looking and praying for a man to even talk to them. If you live in the big cities, you better be a model for the guys to talk to you. One thing is for a guy to just want to date you, another is for him to want to marry you. This is not Nigeria, having kids for a man doesn't automatically lead to marriage and green card. Please open your eyes and go for who truly likes you.

Finally, most American men wants to see what you are bringing to the table asides sex. You better be smart and play your game well else guys will just be passing you around - there are several Nigerian-American girls here looking for husbands but cant find talk less of a woman who is on a F-1 visa or out of status. Although, some lucky girls see white men who love and eventually marry them; the percentage is very low. Maybe one out of every hundred. Forget all the rubbish you see in movies, real struggle starts here and you have to be ready for the task ahead. Just like Slimmy rightly posited, my advise is for you to never fall out of status. It is easier for a man to change status through marriage. It is hell for a woman to pass through this route.

Good luck.

Lmao. #True talk #message endorsed. Time for everybody to tighten their pants, get amazing grades, pray, network and hope for GC via jobs. Marriage hard o. And if GC via job doesn't work out, thank God for MAVNI. grin
