NoriegaQ: Hello guys,
Haven't been here in a while, nice to read up on all I've missed. @DanIndia bro, how's the CCNP hustle going? Haven't had the chance to contribute here cos I've been quite busy with work. @baba11 I'm proud of your hustle and enthusiasm bro, a couple of months back you were a rookie like me before I got certified, now you are running CCNP level preps, really nice.
You should understand that there are different strokes for different folks, getting a job boils down to your mentality. I wrote CCNA last year November and I currently work in one of the biggest multinationals in the world. There were guys who had CCNP and CCIE written at the interview but I was the only person HR picked for the job. Now I get to work with live gear everyday in a major enterprise network while learning other key aspects of server administration, mobility, and security.
It's not by your level of certs, it's by your passion to learn and improve. I would advice every network engineer to do at least a course in ITIL as it's fast becoming a must have regardless of which path you follow in IT. We use 5 ISPs where I work, some as main,, backup and voice and one common thing with all of them is whenever they have link outages or planned maintenance, they send us tickets so we can follow up (which is basically service operation and Incident/Request management under ITIL)
Writing my CCNP ROUTE next month, should get certified this year and hopefully get to ITIL intermediate level. Finally, if you intend to work in an enterprise Network (500+ computers), you can't escape learning server administration. My manager gave me 18 months to get MCSE certified so start learning that on the side now if you can. VERSATILITY AND PASSION IS THE KEY TO MAKING IT IN THIS FIELD.
Cheers guys, this thread has been a major contributing factor to giving me a platform to work where I work now. Keep the flag flying! NoriegaQ Congrats on your new role. |

Babysho: My dad deposited 30k inside my acct not knowing that as a savings account holder I shouldn't exceed 20k deposit limit....so they deactivated my acct...
I went to the bank with NEPA bill for solution......they said I have to upgrade my acct.. But I can't use NEPA bill only......they said I need sch Id card or national passport or voters card or residence permit...I don't have all those...
Please what can I do.....the bank guys refuse to help me out ohhh....help me my nairalanders.....
My dad said if my elder bro who has his ID card and admsn letter goes with me....they'll upgrade it for me....pls how true is this....we would have gone to confirm...but we have only 'to' transport... No 'fro'....so we don't get stranded....
please help out guys....
I am suppose to be at school receiving lectures but my sch fee and t-fare is in my bloody access bank acct Hello OP, Go to branch ask the CCO to give you a proxy form. Then find a relative or friend whom owns a current account that's active and funded also running over 6 months to help sign the proxy form for you. Note that after he/she is done signing the form you will make copy of his/her ID (front and back) and present to CCO or preferably a marketer in that in PBD Team. The PBD officer will guide you and search report will be conducted on whom signed your proxy form. With this, PND will lifted on your account and it will be upgraded. This the best shot you got. Goodluck. |

scantee: Hello Guys! Lets share our exprience in our respective companies, the challanges we face, the good tidings of each companies and compare it with each. The main reasons i'm doing this here, is because i got loads of mail from Nairalanders, asking me to give them crew about all this companies concerning the post i made some time ago.
Here we go. I have worked in the following companies they have their good and their bad. (1) MOBIL (PH): here i jst worked as a contract staff so no much benefit or packages for me as being a contract staff.
(2) Agip Brass Island Bayelsa) I Worked as HSE Adviser here, left them many years back due to they don't pay their staff on time.
(3) NLNG, (Bonny Island R/State) one of the best. If not the best everybody would wish to work with, I worked as SAP Team member here, they have good tidings and good packages for their staff (not contractors staff) one of the good thing i like about them is, they allow their staff to make use of their hilux outside the company site unlike other coys,, to go with it and flex as much as u can without much limitations, they pay their staff every last friday of every month,
They often host party for their staff/ the host community last saturday of every month.
(4)SPDC (Bonny Island) Currently working here as Network/System Admin . Though they are good, but not like Shell we use to know before, since most directors now are naija made lol, and they more into contracting jobs unlike before, things has really changed. though they still pay well but not as it used to be , but their policy is not easy to maintain. The only advantage of working with them is their (Electronic ID) Which permits/gives u access to all the shell terminal nation wide and beyond, and it gives u access to eat in any of their (SPDC Canteen) and their ID enables you to have access to their internet service when you slot it in their customize keyboard. You wil as well enjoy what they call (HAPPY HOUR) is a party that comes up every last friday of the month.
You can sign in about (5) of ur friends using ur ID card, they will be offered free drinks and foods all night in the party. Top naija artists use to performing live during the party.
Omo come see chicks begging you to sign them in, u just dey form like...eh." but you don't dare go out with any Spdc hilux out of the terminal except on official duty, but i guess is due to the IVMS which monitors your speed limits, that might affect the audit during the monthly vehicles inspection audit.
Feel free to shares urs let's have fun of it ( sorry i'm typing through my phone so the text might lack formatting and lots of typooooo. keep it rolling Am happy I came upon this thread. scantee am currently working in a financial institution as a contract IT support with Cisco IT skills, am about to write my 2nd CCNP exam switching written route already. I have passion for my skills and want to work in a challenging environment also benefit and learn new things. I have a few designs which may interest you. I have also wished to work in an environment (Network Operations/Admin) like yours in IT department need your assistance with your current connections and info to point me in the right direction. Am located in PH. Kindly chat me up on whatApp 08033288846. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. |
