Have done your BVN? Account Holder or Not go do your BVN to avoid challenges with the bank during your transaction.
BusinessImportance Of Bank Verification Number (BVN) by snipesdam(op): 5:11pm On May 28, 2015
THE Bank Verification Number, BVN, is an-other important step the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, is using to strengthen the security of banking transactions and to ensure that fraudulent transactions are minimised, if not totally eliminated. The campaign is on, but the public may not realise its importance until it closes in June 2015.
Yet as the public embraces the initiative with enthusiasm, it should be aware that some fraudsters are trying to undermine the exercise by providing seemingly easier registration options for bank account holders. They request these details online and threaten that the account would be closed if the owner does not provide them the details. Their target is the account holder’s money. The best way of enrolling remains direct communication with one’s bank.
BVN uses biometric technology to register customers in the financial system. It records these physical features which are unique to individuals – fingerprints and the face. The record would be used to identify the person afterwards. Once a person’s biometrics have been recorded, and BVN issued, the account would be accessed through BVN. The major objectives of the initiative are to protect bank customers, reduce fraud and strengthen the Nigerian banking system.
Biometric enrolment is helpful to people who cannot read and write. Their finger prints and pictures would serve the same purpose as signatures. Multiple account holders would be covered with a single registration in any of the banks where they have accounts.
BVN will help the banking system reduce situations where loan defaulters, for instance, move from one bank to the other and the banks extend new credits to them, without knowing their history. Banks would be able to track transactions across all banks in Nigeria with more ease.
As CBN implements the BVN initiative, it has to ensure the security of the data, from rogue bankers and also importantly from damage, as has been the experience with other sectors that engaged in biometric enrolments. It should also create measures to punish banks that might exploit the information they have to blackmail customers with whom they have disagreements.
BVN is a great initiative that would reduce illegal banking transactions and improve national financial intelligence gathering. The interests of account holders should be accorded importance so that their increased confidence in the banking system would improve the financial standing of banks. Customers will use banks more when they know that their transactions are safe. BVN offers vast opportunities to protect customers, banks and the entire financial system.
The CBN should enhance the security of BVN to protect the entire financial system. It should be on the watch for technologies to keep improving BVN capacities.

TravelTanker Loaded With PMS On Rail Line by snipesdam(op): 8:02am On May 08, 2015
There is a rail line crossing Umusoya, Obigbo on route to Eleme. Note that a tanker with PMS broke almost crossing the Rail line and it's leaking it's product.

Am also sure that the train hasn't pass Afam train station this morning.

Anyone should contact Railway Port Harcourt for Train to be cautious when approaching that area to avoid collision.

The core layer switches are screaming "Replace us with L3 switches"
Is this something you implemented on a site ?
I don't like to tell anyone what to do regarding their hierarchical design as this is something Cisco themselves defined as a logical model. You can replace whatever you want with what you want - as long as you can handle any issue come any may.
That being said, I was hoping I'd see at least a router in your topology. Why!!!!?? grin
Are you planning to implement VLANS and eradicate the need for Routers...?
That's just Spanning tree design.

Besides you haven't answered my last question wink
Also One question. I would like to achieve a design using a FRAME-RELAY, where branches (ROUTERS) with dlci 102, 103, 104 and communicate with the CORE dlci 101 with being neighbours yet branches can receive updates of subnets.
Go do some research and tell me grin

Hi Snipesdam

Lol. I haven't "experimented" with redundancy on a large scale but I have actually implemented that. Now let me give you reasons why I say it is poorly designed based on what I am seeing on your diagram.

1. No one uses ROAS on an enterprise network if you want to implement redundany. If you can think back on the concept of ROAS, the vlans get routed using a single device which in your case is the router. Now the router isn't as fast as a switch is because it is software based unlike the switch that uses the ASIC which is a hardware implementation. Again, the way the ROAS works means that all the traffic comes to the router and exits it on a single port. Now imagine having a large amount of traffic coming and leaving the router on a 100mbps or 1gbps link. So, you will agree with me that ROAS isn't the way to go in this case.

2. Strictly speaking, I think you designed the network on the left to look good rather than to be functional, same thing for the bottom one. I mean, take a look at the way you arranged your switches. You didn't follow the basic hierachy of design which means that you should have an Access, Distribution and Core Layers, or at least have a Collapsed Core where you merge your Distribution and Core Layers. When STP kicks in, which it will or else you will have loops, All your redundant links will go down and you will effectively have only single working links at any given time, because the redundant ones will be blocked and hence not being used. So, in essence, you have a couple of links siting there doing nothing.

3. STP issues. Still on the network on the left, now, I don't know the config on those devices, but let's assume that the switch closest to the router gets elected to be the root bridge. Now, unless you specifically tweaked it, you know that what follows can be very random. Every switch finds the best way to get to the root bridge and still does that based on the same way that the root bridge is elected which means the oldest device/ lowest priority/lowest port number. So, imagine if the leftmost switch has a lower priority/mac/port number than that of the two switches connected to it and they in turn are lower than the other two, that means that the two switches closest to the root bridge will end up going all the way back to the leftmost switch in other to reach a root bridge that is directly connected to it. So, you need to re-arrange ur switches and optimise them for STP, which brings me to the next reason

4. STP presence. Looking at that network, it is obvious that you are using STP on the network. If you want a network with redundancy and high availability and very fast failovers, then you need to get rid of STP totally. This is 2015 for crying out loud, STP takes at best 15-30secs to failover. That is not good at all for any enterprise network. Even Cisco recommends that you get rid of STP on your network unless you ABSOLUTELY need it. So, designing an enterprise network with STP in mind and ending up designing it poorly isn't good at all.

5. Redundancy for the sake of redundancy is bad. You don't just start throwing redundant links just for the sake of it. Looking at your links, you even connected Access switches together which is also a terrible design. Access switches should ALWAYS be separate from each other unless they are feeding the same Vlans/subnet.

6. IP phones were eating up network ports. Why give your ip phones and PCs different ports when you can easily use one port on ur switch for an ip phone and a pc. The ip phones have an in built switch so, you can plug in your pc into the back of the ip phone and while the phone gets pluged into the switch. In the basic form, you can configure the native vlan of the switch to be that of the pc to still have your vlans working and if your switch supports it, you can configure a voice and access vlan on a single port.

I will like to see your configs on your network and also you ip address scheme.
Sorry it took so long to reply back. Lemme hit the points.

1. I can only agree with you that there is an error in my design with regards to Distribution layer and Access Layer. Which can be taken care of
bring in a few Multilayer switches.

2. My topology doesn't run on STP rather RSTP. Also since you haven't experimented on real life designs and its important for you to know that
switch ports go bad bad after sometime. Having that in mind you can't predict which will go off first regardless how simple or complex your
redundancy is. Imagine if one of your redundant port which has been forwarding goes down and your alternate port which has not been forwarding had earlier gone bad and you didn't notice because the root port has been doing its job well, then that switch cut off the grid talking from experience. Then comes why i choose to have my design that way. NOTE: When designing on simulators assume the worse that can happen in real life make provisions to contain it.

Take a look a the spanning tree simulation below and tell me what you think about it.

3. My VOip design. Your were taking like am a leaner grin. Note that my switch ports are configured to carry both voice and data.

Also hope you weren't excepting me to drop my configs here.

Besides i would like to see some of your designs if possible.

Also One question. I would like to achieve a design using a FRAME-RELAY, where branches (ROUTERS) with dlci 102, 103, 104 and communicate with the CORE dlci 101 with being neighbours yet branches can receive updates of subnets.

You are somewhat correct on the idea of router-on-a-stick but for the sake of labbing I don't think there is a limit on to how many routers you want to configure or else if this topo is designed for a real live network site. And by the redudancy, You never enough to achieve redundancy o. You never know what links or what ports may go at whatever time.
I see you understand redundancy better cool. In real life I've had an experience where a port went bad and you wouldn't know immediately where the issue was coming from. Also yea the redundancy may look like barb wire it's pertinent to design for worse case scenarios for real live and the idea is a MESH like redundancy and you have to choose the Root Bridge carefully to make sure STP or RSTP runs effectively.

About VOIP grin. Yes I successfully implemented it on Packet Tracer and it worked very well they phones rang. Assigned phone numbers, ip, telephony service, but in real live you will have to TFTP to retrieve IP phones config etc. Even my tutor back then when I was learning CCNA was impress, he wasn't able to do it. But note that you can't do VOIP routing.

So when designing yours think like a network architect cool cool. Never design for the present accommodate it for expansion. Think out of the box and seek for improvement from peoples ideas too. You can as well tell me what I missed and make my topology better.

Just took a second look at it, and I must say that for an enterprise network, it is poorly designed. Just looking at the network segment on the left is giving me a headache. And you mentioned doing a router on a stick, with all these devices you have in place here, why would you want to do an ROAS? That is for a small sized network with fewer devices. On yours, you have enough to achieve redundancy and no need for an ROAS. You actually tried to go for redundancy on the left segment but you went overboard with it. Same goes for the network at the bottom.
Perhaps you haven't experimented on redundancy on large scale. Am not disappointed that you said it poorly designed only if saw the running config. About the ROAS its a design which i choose inorder to implement VTP and ROAS isn't just done for small networks. Dunno why the image is blurry tried making better.

Also below you can find an experiment on split-horizon which i designed last xmas. Its frameRelay multipoint and branch can only be neighbors with the core via EIGRP routing protocol. But they are able to get update of the other branches subnets but NOT Neighbors.

Omo the story plenty.

Sometimes parents are hard to impress when it comes to giving them gift but reasonably speaking they somehow get to appreciate gifts from their kids cus even when they feel its their money you are spending on them, they have no choice but to think that you care about them.
Now why don't you get a nice hamper that would contain stuffs that you know they like.
Obviously your parents won't need fashion stuffs that you could give your pals on a normal day so you have to put stuffs that your mum wud like to see in her kitchen or bedroom and then stuffs your dad would like to use regularly like nice shaving sticks, a good nite wear and maybe something like a nice shirt of his size.

Well this is just my opinion sha...

I hope ur parents would appreciate whatever you can finally afford.
That's was really helpful. Thanks Bro
