Omoocash: In today's interview we are up to 25 both Master’s and Ph.D Applicants.
Is more like interactive and discussion forum for PhD applicants. We have 6 PhD in attendance and none of spent 3 minutes with the panel of judges.
There is much hope in the process. Wow yours was much more shorter. I don't believe we will be solely judged via the interview. As many of us would answer quite well. I believe they will still re evaluate our credentials. I might be wrong |

Education › Re: Turkiye Burslari/Turkish Scholarship Invitation For Interview? by Snow30: 11:53pm On Jun 13, 2016 |
Omoocash: I guess those undergraduate that did interview today are for BEA Bilateral Education Agreement while those undergraduate slatted for 15th are for Turkiye Scholarships. My observations though. Because snow that had interview today 13th is for BEA. Your totally wrong. Turkey aint affiliated with FSB. Today wasn't for those that applied through FSB. i applied for FSB but turkey wasn't part of my country choices. My first choice was Russia and i was nominated, so i don't see any reason why FSB will nominate me again. I also met people that have never heard of FSB at all today. |

No course related questions were asked. But it might be different for PG. One person will check your documents while the other will ask the questions. P.s. Print your invitation letter. TeflonMe: I don't know of any such thing . Maybe the person was talking about the bilateral scholarship- this one is solely funded by Turkish govt which had 95,000 applicants from 127 countries after which 5,000 scholars will be chosen.
I have already opened a thread for this scholarship so check it out and ask your questions there because here is for the federal govt bilateral scholarship.
Thank you. Can you send link of the thread |

TeflonMe: I got the same email in the wee hours of today. My interview date is on Tuesday 14th June 2016 at their embassy in Abuja
To put the record straight, this is not the right thread for this Turkiye scholarship. Maybe we have to open another thread for it because we didn't apply for this scholarship under the bilateral scholarship- this is strictly the Turkish govt funding scholarship. We applied for it through their direct site.
So we can hook up and see how we will pass the interview and get the visas and go fulfil our dreams. My number is 07033455570
A masters scholarship interview invitee.
Thank you. Yeah, i think so too. I'm UG Btw. Also i heard one news that no Nigerian passed the interview stage last year. I hope its a lie. |

Tife101:
 Ahhh!!! Moku...mogbe,modaran.
So what you are trying to insinuate is that those that got high scores in jamb this year are dumb and those with low scores are smart hun? C'mon that's a myopic assertion!
FG should scrap both if they like na. This country is a joke gan sef. Arggh haba naa. Don't quote me wrongly. I said i know of really smart people that scored very low and average in jamb. And people buttom of class getting over 270. Which means Jamb doesn't really test academic abilities in some cases. I never said people that get high in jamb are dumb and people that get low are smart. Or is it English you don't understand lol( no offense) |
Education › Re: FG Scraps Post-ume by Snow30: 7:56pm On Jun 03, 2016 |
Geofavor: Stop asserting baseless claims. There are no jamb special centers! The questions are released directly from Jamb's online software that day, at the stipulated time. Even the invigilators don't have access to questions before the exam time.
If you complained about inefficient systems, I might agree with your plight. But malpractice? Naah!
On the other hand, we have an obscene amount of waec special centers. The question papers are given out, before or immediately the exam starts, to a guru to solve. He solves all the questions quick and photocopies them. Then they distribute the solutions to the students. Whether there are waec special centres, it shouldn't concern you. If you prepare you will pass. But for jamb i know of really smart guys, top class guys that will over prepare for jamb but still get 190, 210. And forgive me, dumber guys getting 270, 250, 280. It shows that jamb doesn't measure a persons real academic abilities |
Education › Re: FG Scraps Post-ume by Snow30: 12:19pm On Jun 03, 2016 |
Geofavor: Wrong! Only about 10% of students who sit for waec in Nigeria each year write the exam without one malpractice or the other. Waec/gce/neco are the worst exams we have in this country. Jamb have upgraded and improved their exam with the commencement of the CBT. We now have little to no malpractice in jamb. The problem now is that some centers are not well equiped with efficient systems and this affects students performance. That's what you think? Where did you get the statistics from tho? How come there are still special centres till date. The invigilators give them all the questions and answers stored in the server for that day, for people to practice. |
Education › Re: FG Scraps Post-ume by Snow30: 10:22am On Jun 03, 2016 |
amyzon: U are the one who really need to think, do u know the extent of malpractice that goes on in jamb, impersonation, private center things. Do u know what leads to having students that can't spell their names. Nothing is credible about jamb. Jamb should be scrapped not pume Both should be scrapped |
Education › Re: FG Scraps Post-ume by Snow30: 10:18am On Jun 03, 2016 |
Esso95: You mean the WAEC that is bedevilled with malpractises too? That'll be worst! And scary too! Jamb has more errors and more technical problems and more malpractices than WAEC/GCE/NECO. Waec is way ahead of Jamb considering its west African exam. Which one do you prefer, a 3 hours test that everyone has different questions which means yours can be harder than others. That you will use a computer to do the exam that can off at any time, and even though its computer based your result still comes out days after, with errors to. Or an exam written in paper and pen, everyone is tested with the same questions, which means its more standardised. You know that if you read wella you can get at least a C. Your exam will go smoothly no interruption unless your invigilator sends you out for misconduct. You tell me? Which do you want to be based on? Unless you didn't take your WAEC seriously. And don't get me wrong, am not hating on Jamb because i failed. I got a 241/400, but that is still to low, because many people got above that! I'm just being a realist. Jamb and Post Jamb are bleeped . |

Elxandre: What is entirely different about SAT aside the format?
Don't they also require meeting a school specified cut off? (for schools that need SAT)
It's even written up to six times a year. Didn't you read my latter posts. Only lower ranked schools in America have minimum SAT requirements. Higher ranked schools especially the top ones use A Holistic approach. Everything matters, SAT, GPA, TRANSCRIPTS, RECCOMMENDATIONS, ESSAY, TESTIMONIAL, CLASS RANK, SCHOOL PROFILE, and so on. Some people with perfect scores in SAT still get rejected by top schools and people with low scores, as low as 1900 still get accepted to Harvard and University of Chicago. So Jamb and SAT are different in the sense that America sees SAT different from how Nigerians see JAMB. Americans try not to quantify someone's individuality with a 4 hours test , they will rather use your transcript and GPA and WAEC, which shows your achievements over 4 years. That's why they call one country developed and the other "developing" |

gryhusky: wow so happy ..with my 214 i will gain in udusok. pol sci in my nind Am not trying to be the person of bad bearing news, but you do know each university has carrying maximum capacity? Even do the minimum score is 180, they can only accept a certain amount of people. Now how many people do you think got above 210, 220 or had your score or even 250? See.... Now the best thing Nigerian universities can do is to lay more emphasis on WAEC, cause if they don't how will they choose those that will be admitted? Unless they want to rely on connection and money? |
Education › Re: FG Scraps Post-ume by Snow30: 8:35am On Jun 03, 2016 |
butanep: Only dull students speak this way... have you written an international exams before Eg SAT or GRE. If you get below the required point, you are going no where. Education is standardised anywhere in the world.
If one is not sound academically, he/she should go for vocational schooling. I see your the dull one here. Either you are ignorant or using other people's ignorance. Only lower ranked schools put minimal marks for SAT in America. And there are only a hand full of them. The rest even the top schools don't put minimum marks for GPA or standardised test scores like SAT. Have you ever heard of holistic approach in the admissions process? Clearly you haven't! Most schools in America use holistic approaches, ESPECIALLY THE TOP SCHOOLS. You must be a best fit for them. They take into consideration your, SAT score, GPA, transcript, testimonial, letters of recommendation, extra curricular activities, ESSAYS, First generation college student, URM, and many other categories. And Nigeria should do this to. Not all schools require SAT, it is optional to send them and i don't mean low schools. I mean top schools like Bates, Wesleyan, Skidmore, i can list a lot more..... More schools are even taking the test optional way because they are realising that you can't quantify a student by a 3 hours test. A transcript and GPA, is much better for that. I know of people with full scholarship to top schools that got about 1800-1900/2400, which is below the school's SAT average, but they have stellar transcripts and GPA, Essays and extra curricular. And the schools they got into require SAT OO. American schools want to see what makes you tick. Unlike Nigeria that if you get 180 in Jamb, and shagged post it me but you have alp A's in WAEC and transcript, you will surely stay home for one year. Pfft! |
