More info The government also pointed to a quadrupling of the scheme for seasonal workers in agriculture to 10,000, as well as "youth mobility arrangements", which allow 20,000 young people to come to the UK each year. While the CBI welcomed some of the proposals, it said some firms would be "left wondering how they will recruit the people needed to run their businesses". The business lobby group's director general, Carolyn Fairbairn, said: "Firms know that hiring from overseas and investing in the skills of their workforce and new technologies is not an 'either or' choice - both are needed to drive the economy forward." The Royal College of Nursing raised concerns the proposals will "not meet the health and care needs of the population", while Unison assistant general secretary Christina McAnea said the plans "spell absolute disaster for the care sector". The UK Homecare Association described the lack of provision for low-paid workers in the proposals as "irresponsible", with a spokesman saying they were "dismayed" by the government's decision. "Cutting off the supply of prospective care workers under a new migration system will pave the way for more people waiting unnecessarily in hospital or going without care," they added. Meanwhile, National Farmers' Union president Minette Batters raised "serious concerns" about the "failure to recognise British food and farming's needs" in the plans. And the Food and Drink Federation spoke of concerns about bakers, meat processors and workers making food like cheese and pasta not qualifying under the new system. The government's proposed immigration system represents a balancing act - broadening the base of skilled labour while restricting the flow of those seeking lower-skilled jobs. The SNP's immigration spokesman, Stuart McDonald called them a "half-finished and disastrous one-size-fits-no-one policy". |

The real problem is the greed of black man See what PDP is turned Nigeria to because of selfishness. Nobody cares whether the country go up in flames as long as they have access to our treasury to loot and stash it abroad. |
At least 22 people have been killed in an attack on a village in north-west Cameroon, the UN says. Over half those killed in Ntumbo were children, and local media report that several victims were burned alive. No-one has claimed responsibility for Friday's incident, but an opposition party blamed the army. Cameroon's government, which has been fighting separatists in the region for three years, denied involvement in the attack. James Nunan, an official from the UN's humanitarian co-ordination agency Ocha, told the BBC that a pregnant woman was among those killed. Fourteen children, including nine under the age of five, were also among the dead, he said. Red Dragons and Tigers: The rebels fighting for independence Burning Cameroon: Images you're not meant to see Mr Nunan said the incident has "terrified" the local population. "Whichever group has done this has threatened that there will be more violence ahead," he said. "The people we've spoken with are extremely traumatised and didn't expect this." In a statement, one of the country's main opposition parties - The Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon - blamed "the dictatorial regime" and the head of Cameroon's security forces for the attack. Agbor Mballa, a leading figure in the separatist movement, also suggested that "state defence forces were responsible". An army official described the allegations as "false" when asked about the incident by AFP news agency. The conflict has been centred in north-western Cameroon, where most of the population speaks English because of old colonial ties to Britain. Armed separatist groups began to emerge in 2017 after a security force crackdown on protests. Separatists have declared independence for a new state they call Ambazonia, but Cameroon's President Paul Biya has labelled the groups as "terrorists". More than 3,000 people have died since the outbreak of fighting and at least 70,000 people have also been displaced from their homes. Cameroon's government has been accused of human rights abuses during the conflict, and US President Donald Trump has axed the country from a special trade program with America. The government says separatists have killed dozens of civilians and security forces, but no official figures exist for civilians and separatists killed by government forces. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-51526358 |

A passenger plane landing at an airport in Istanbul has skidded off the runway and broken into three parts, killing three people and injuring more than 170, officials say. The Pegasus Airlines jet was carrying 171 passengers and six crew members from Izmir province in the west when it crashed at Sabiha Gokcen airport. The Boeing 737 was trying to land in heavy tailwinds and rain. The airport was closed and flights diverted after the accident. The majority of people on board were Turkish, but local media quoted the airline's records as saying there were 22 foreign passengers from 12 other countries. A small number of children are believed to have been on board. Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said: "Unfortunately, the Pegasus Airlines plane couldn't hold on the runway due to poor weather conditions and skidded for around 50-60m [164-196ft]." He said the plane then fell between 30 and 40 metres off the end of the runway. The airport has since reopened, while prosecutors have opened an investigation into the crash. Video footage showed passengers climbing through one of the large cracks to escape via one of the wings, and dozens of rescuers working around the jet. Other footage on social media showed a blaze inside the aircraft, which was later put out by firefighters. Transport Minister Mehmet Cahit Turhan said authorities had not yet been able to speak to the pilots, a Turkish national and a South Korean, who were believed to have been injured in the accident. The low-cost Pegasus Airlines has a fleet of 83 aircraft - 47 Boeings and 36 Airbus planes - and has been flying for 20 years. A Pegasus Boeing 737 coming in from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates skidded off the runway at the same airport on 7 January. There were no casualties but the airport had to be temporarily closed. And a Pegasus Boeing 737 also skidded off the runway at Trabzon airport in January 2018, plunging down the side of a cliff overlooking the sea. There were no casualties. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-51384667 |

Malawi's constitutional court has annulled last year's controversial election, which saw President Peter Mutharika narrowly re-elected. The judge found there had been widespread irregularities in the 21 May vote. This is the first election to be legally challenged since Malawi's independence in 1964. A new vote will take place within 151 days. There have been regular anti-government protests since the election. The court ruled that Mr Mutharika will stay in power until a new election takes place. Why was a legal challenge filed? President Peter Mutharika won a second term in May with 38.6% of the vote. But opposition candidates Lazarus Chakwera, who came second, and Saulos Chilima, who finished third, went to court to argue that the election was not fair. They said the way the election was conducted was full of irregularities. The judges, who arrived in court in the capital, Lilongwe, under military escort, upheld the complaint on Monday. According to the official results, Mr Chakwera, who claims he won the election, garnered 35.4% of the vote as the flag bearer for the Malawi Congress Party. Mr Chilima, a former ally of the president, got 20.2%. He was the candidate for the UTM. There is a high level of anxiety in the country following months of tense clashes between the police and opposition supporters. Many schools were closed and some public transport had been suspended ahead of Monday's court decision. What were the irregularities? In court, lawyers for the losing candidates said that correction fluid - known by the brand name Tipp-Ex - had been used on some of the tallying forms sent in by polling stations. The changes were made after they had been signed by party agents, they said. The lawyers also said that in some cases polling officials sent in the wrong copy of the results sheet to the main tallying centre. They also found some mathematical errors in a small number of cases. Though in each case there were not a huge number of errors, the lawyers said that the evidence pointed to a flawed process. What was the response? The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) defended its handling of the vote as being in keeping with the law. It said that on the few forms where correction fluid had been found, it had not been used to change a result, but to alter procedural information that had been incorrectly entered. The commission said it had not supplied the Tipp-Ex. The MEC's lawyers also argued that while the wrong copy of the results sheet had been submitted in some cases, that copy had been signed off by party agents and the tally itself was correct. Outside the court proceedings, backers of Mr Mutharika's Democratic Progressive Party often mentioned reports of international observers, which were largely favourable, as evidence that he won the vote fairly. What sort of coverage was there in Malawi? The court proceedings, which lasted more than three months, were keenly followed https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-51324241 |

Any sound economist with knowledge of international development know for sure that the country is on the right path to develop. Fix the infrastructure problem - more than 500 projects been executed all over the country now, then tackle corruption to a comatose. Move on with wealth redistribution by opening the gate for SME development, allocating 20 - 25% of annual contract in States and FG to sme for execution. Ministry of Development must develop a framework to combat poverty through technology development and encouraging SME and local people. Stop throwing money at poverty like trader money, Npower etc. The story will change and lot more will be out of poverty |
Another Fayose in Ibadan is this the reason why he donated all Ajumose buses to PDP thugs all over the state and none for the residents again? is this what he used N13bil loan collected to do? The man who claimed he pay N170m for Ssce past questions for teachers in the same state is not disappointing. After all he is PDP importer of stove from SA just to loot |
Atiku surely have explanation to make as regards insecurity in Adamawa. Why was the state relatively peaceful for the past 7 months while hiding in Dubai? Insecurity again just at his arrival. This is an area govt must look at seriously. Who is the sponsor. Atiku appears to fit the picture Before you quote me ask yourself why there haven't been any security issues at his university in the same state for past 7 years of Boko Haram in Adamawa. Not even banditry and kidnappers. |
Meanwhile seyi Making of Oyo state claimed he paid 170m for past questions of just 5 years when 20years past questions and solutions is sold between N350 and N500 in open market God how how much he will claim to have paid for the Ssce. PDP in whatever form is a fraud . Paying media houses to hype him for doing nothing. |
@ raccoon. What I presented is facts and figures compare to just a Google story you copy and paste. Check the links I presented above. they're from reputable organization, not a story written by paid hungry blogger. Check Vanguard of 24 December, 2014 which clearly states the debt profile @ $67bil Your link was just written in less than a year, which will you believe? |
I am not a politician but a professional vast in International Social Development. I was trained at University of East Anglia known as one of the best university for social development training in the world. Falalu who I presume clearly decided to deceive mislead and manipulate Nigeria masses using lies and conjectures knew what he wrote or sent to the press about Nigeria debt profiles were pure lie with no truth. PDP especially Atiku promoters and Omokrii alias INEC server were fond of this conjectures. For example between January and May 2015 before He handover to Pmb, Nigeria borrow N479bill for recruitment and salary. Meanwhile according to Vanguard and other newspapers, Nigeria debt profiles as at December 2014 was $67bill. One will want to ask where Falalu got his figure of $10bil from. Find below links showing Facts and figures about debt profiles, China debt, debt to Gdp etc According to vanguard below nigeria debt was $67bn in December 2014 https://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/07/n12trn- debt-profile-worsens-nigerias-woes/ https://nairametrics.com/nigerias-historical-external-reserves/ https://tradingeconomics.com/nigeria/external-debt https://tradingeconomics.com/nigeria/government-debt-to-gdp https://www.premiumtimesng.com/business/182543-nigerian-govt-borrowing-billions-to-pay-salaries-okonjo-iweala.html 1)Angola 4,28 Trillion 2)Ethiopia 1,37 Trillion 3)Kenya 980 Billion 4)Republic of Congo 742 Billion 5)Sudan 649 Billion 6)Zambia 637 Billion 7)Cameron 556 Billion cool Nigeria 483 Billion 9)Ghana 349 Billion 10)DRC 343 Billion China is a true friend of African Continent tongue https://victormatara.com/list-of-african-countries-with-highest-china-debt/ I hope the mod will push this to front page to educate Nigerian lala.
