Family / Local Government Work/modern Slavery? by Socsed(m): 1:54pm On Oct 07, 2019
Not until today, did I know that working with a local government in some states is just like being jobless. I paid an extended family member a visit this morning. It was obvious he was bothered. I was prompted to ask if all was well. He said the country is just too unbearable.
During our discussion, he told me his basic salary was #11,500. A level G9 officer. The other allowances plus his basic salary is #29,500. Tax, Pension, e.t.c would still be deducted. How do we justify this? Someone with 3 kids and a wife. What if he doesn't have anything else to support the family with?
As a final year student, I'm so baffled haven heard this. Do we actually have a future in this country?

....and Igbos will strike back, you can bookmark this, it may take decades or centuries, but Igbos will strike back....it may happen after Igbos have left Nigeria to form their own super great/powerful nation and then they will strike back as another nation invading another nation just as Germany struck back at the rest of Europe for what they did to them, and when Germany struck back in 1945, Europe lost so much.....French king ran away, Queen Elizabeth was in fear, not until USA and Russia stepped in to help them find peace.

When Igbos will strike, the story of German invasion of France and London will be a joke...the whole north will be in flames. It won't be fought by foot soldiers, it will be fought by sophisticated air weapons that will level what is left of barbaric northern Nigeria. London is on flames will be a childsplay to what will befall Northern Nigeria when the Almighty Eastern Eagle will strike, yes it must happen to also avenge the years of killing and marginalization of our people just as you avenged yours sad

Danjuma even as your people are paying the huge price of their atrocities against Igbos in 1966, Igbos will strike back nonetheless, but when, I cannot tell, but it must happen because you useless souls have never for one day shown any remorse for the evil you all perpetrated against civilian Igbos....I don't care about what happened between military people and politicians, but involving innocent, unarmed Igbo civilians in your madness of 1966 was your greatest mistake and reason your region will continue to reap the seeds of the evil they sowed angry angry

Be calm Bro. This is mere illusion. Nigeria will ever remain one. Damn it! How could you will this nonsense and think you've achieved in life. Thinking you're an up and-coming HERO? I can't just imagine seeing Young women, children, helpless elders, and the youths die. Stop watching movies dear.

Immoralities shouldn't be spread. Some people even the educated ones opined that it's by free will to watch. What would become of our society if we always insist on freedom? Won't the kids who watched discuss with their friends who didn't? Do you think kids won't want to choose those idiots as role models? Especially these days when young ones are too inquisitive. They want to know virtually everything. The gospel truth is that the generation that are yet to come will curse some parents and family members. Don't you talk about the nonsense in front of the kids?
When the rate of underage kids engaging in immoralities like pornography, seduction increases, then Nigerians will understand. We always fail to think ahead. It's either we play blame on our religions or ethnic groups. What a failed state!

Hypocrisy! Almost everyone including our usual wailers agreed it's a mistake. However, had this happened in Nigeria, esp. from President Buhari, the story could've been different. They could've said a thousand words, calling the president an sort of names, forgetting that he's bound to make mistakes too.
It really beats my imagination.... We need to check ourselves.

Etimocracy:
Being in school everyday for me could be likened to eating a delicious meal everyday. I was behind my desk one afternoon (I think it was a Wednesday) marking test scripts when a male student walked into my office to give me yet another shocking yet enthralling moment of my existence. You wanna find out, then just stay glued!
Good afternoon Mallam, he said, I responded with a smile, thus he proceeded. "I am inviting you to my wedding ceremony next week" he finally let the cat out of the bag. I immediately let go of my pen and for the first time looked up to really see the young fellow who stood before me talking about marriage. I had to be sure of what I heard, so, I asked him to repeat he just said which he did. There was no vacillation in his speech and I was pretty sure I didn't hear whisperings from the gods either. By my estimate, the boy wouldn't exceed 17 years of age at the time. I was stunned. I asked of his class, he replied JSS2. He came bearing gifts. I accepted the sweet candies he brought me as invitation gifts since it would have been outrightly rude not to do so. Furthermore, before I set him on his way, I instructed him to make sure he introduced me to his wife to be to give my blessings as his teacher. He agreed and left. About two hours later, some primary school pupils mostly females entered my office and greeted, I could tell they were primary pupils because of their uniform. It might interest you to know that the Junior secondary school is just about in the same surroundings as the primary school. Thus, the primary school pupils have access to the Jss section. I needed an interpreter and lucky me, a fellow teacher was just around the corner. He told me that the girl in front of me is the soon to be Ameriya (wife) to the JSS2 student who visited me earlier. I asked of her class and learned she was in primary 6 at the time.
Oh my goodness! I felt like passing out. This is Child marriage for goodness sake (I didn't say it out loud for fear of displeasing my fellow teacher). I managed a wry smile and dismissed them. I was quite concerned. Why would some individuals with unashamed determination hand their young female children to early marriages with such convictions and a maddening self compulsion. I really was enraged at the whole drama but I didn't show it. How could I? Afterall, its their way of life. One thing that struck me was the fact they were so happy about the development. "Marriage is progress" I'd hear them say, I totally beg to differ. Here I am, in my twenties thinking of ways to make money and teenagers in this part of the country can think of nothing else but marriage. What an irony. Enough of my ranting.

Perhaps it's better than the irresponsible teenagers we've in some other parts. Not long ago, I visited a town, I was surprised sex among young boys and girls(12 and above) was the norms of the kids.
Actually, their parents knew but were only bothered about them getting pregnant. So, brother, the world has really changed. While I was a teacher some years back, the kids(Primary 5 students) I taught had boyfriends(acknowledged by their parents).
Maturity & Sustenance should be the benchmark for Marriage, not class, positions. And I'm sure they have both.
I stand to be corrected.

Either way, they all may not be seriously affected. We shouldn't be too glad and blind.

Dear Imodola,

I think u understand your point and how you feel.

A second look at your screenshots provided me with a clue. You have two debit cards with UBA, maintenance fee is charges monthly per card.

If either of your cards is damaged, stolen or lost then please report to the bank, from that spot maintenance fee should stop on the reported card which I assumed would be hotlisted to avoid further usage.

Do have a nice day

Thanks a lot. I had a talk with one of the Bank Customer services staff. He said the same thing.
I was though pretty annoyed when he said they won't be able to refund the money. It has been more than 6 months they've been deducting such. And they couldn't even inform. Didn't they know they were deducting twice?
Anyway, I pay appreciation for your accurate and appropriate information.
Remain blessed.

The more people rationalize cheating, the more it becomes a culture of dishonesty. And that can become a vicious, downward cycle. Because suddenly, if everyone else is cheating, you feel a need to cheat, too.

Many schoolboy opinion flying here and there! Iran for decades has been slapped with sanctions upon sanctions yet, one of the leading counted in science!

A war with Iran is a trigger for WW3! The USA cannot just come in, start using their toys and expect a landslide victory. The USG is now experiencing a declining home support for their senseless wars outside the country.

The Zionists know better hence their use of the USA as a cover for pursuing the obliteration of Iran. Russia cannot sit and watch one of their key allied being bullied. RSCII 4+1 military pact comes to mind.

Did you know that Iran is the second country in the world in the production of UAVs beyond radars?

I hope you also know that Iran has cruise missile character technology off track?

Hope you know that Iran is among the eight countries that can produce destroyers?

Plus did you know that Iran is the world's first in nanotechnology?

The only thing I'm sure of is that the country with the higher population may suffer most. America's population is 328Million while the determined small Iran is 82Million.
Bloodshed should be avoided....A country challenging USA at this time must have made some plans too. Don't underestimate the power of any country, especially during this time where there's possibility their allies join the war.
