Dipo George, the son of former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, is died.

Some reports that Dipo was born by the George’s first wife, Feyi.

According to family sources, Dipo was 42 years before his death at a hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos in the early hours of Thursday after a long battle with an undisclosed ailment.

While the cause of his death is still sketchy, he is reported to have been suffering organ failure before now.

Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district has called for clinical examination of the mental state of Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

In a letter dated 7th May, which was addressed to the Chief Medical Director of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Kaduna, the lawmaker wondered how a governor, who is the Chief Security officer of the state could ask the people to go on riot for political reasons.

He said El-Rufai’s speech should be analysed. He expressed fears that something must have gone wrong with the governor.

Part of the letter which was made available to reads: “As a citizen and a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I am concerned that such inciting expletives and profanity could be uttered by a public servant who is also the security officer of a state.

“The open call to violence, disorder and inflammatory predisposition of a man who occupies such an exalted office is. in my humble opinion symptomatic of a paranoid personality disorder.”

“It is in the safe interest of the state and the nation, that the mental state of the governor be clinically and professionally verified”, the letter insisted.

Sani said El-Rufai was notorious for inciting groups against another in order to perpetuate evil agenda, adding that the psychiatric test should be treated with urgency.

He further stated that the outcome of the result would assist him to move a motion in the Senate that public officers and their appointees should be undergoing psychiatric and drug related tests from time to time.

Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai had in his speech at a commissioning ceremony in Kaduna last week rained curses on three Senators from the State for rejecting the World Bank loan of $350 million he applied.

The governor described them as enemies of the state, saying, they should be stoned wherever they are seen, adding that none of them should be allowed to return to office in 2019.

The letter was copied to the Nigeria Medical Association and the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria.

Buriji Kashamu, the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District has filed two notices of appeal at the Supreme Court seeking to set aside the recent Court of Appeal judgment.

He also alleged that the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Abubakar Malami was planning to abduct and transport him to the United States to face trial.

Kashamu, through his counsel, averred that the Court of Appeal erred in dismissing his objections.

“The lower court misdirected itself when it held that the appellant has not made out a case of breach or likelihood of a breach of his fundamental rights,” Kashamu said.

“It is unfortunte that these persons have chosen to channel their energies towards blackmailing the AGF to punish an innocent citizen and achieve a personal vendetta against someone who is seen as their political foe.

“Their pursuit is of interest to them even when all right-thinking members of the society know that I have a right of appeal against the judgment, which right I have immediately exercised,” Kashamu said.

He urged the AGF not to allow his office to be used to punish an innocent Nigerian.

“His office should not be used to punish and unjustly persecute an innocent and patriotic Nigerian, in a bid to satisfy the desire of some political opponents or external forces whose interest is to seek and gain political advantage. To do that will be tantamount to unjustly prosecuting another man’s battle either directly or indirectly.

“The facts of the case speak for itself. I can no longer be the subject of any extradition case when I had on two occasions faced extradition proceedings in a foreign land and I was exonerated and freed to go home.

“The Government of the United Kingdom has testified through the British High Commission in a letter dated 27th of April, 2015 and addressed to former Inspector-General of Police Solomon Arase that I was freed from extradition proceedings in their country between 1998 and 2003.

“I am however surprised at the efforts to blackmail the AGF to entrench the persecution of the last administration and legalise their illegality.

“If the AGF should painstakingly study the files with him, he would realise that there are better things to expend public funds on that engaging private lawyers to pursue a failed course, which only seeks to satisfy my political foes that have no goodwill in the society.

“The two British courts gave judgments in my favour after taking oral and documentary evidence from agents of the United States Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria, including top officials of the NDLEA who were summoned by the British courts.

“The NDLEA, in particular, gave positive evidence that I was not the person involved in the alleged crime and they have given some evidence here in Nigeria. So, why the sudden change?

“The statement and evidence given by witnesses who are high-ranking officials of the NDLEA in the British courts represent the position of the Nigerian Government in that case, including the Office of the AGF,” Buriji Kashamu said.

A brother of the deceased, Peter Enenche Igoche, confirmed the news of her demise in a Facebook post saying: “It will be very difficult to accept the reality of the loss, and it will be even more difficult to go through the pain of the loss.

“When you lose a sister, the pain of it can turn your whole world upside down. You not only lose a sister but a whole support system.

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting behind closed doors with the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting started shortly after Buhari returned to Abuja from his hometown, Daura in Katsina State on Monday.

The development came barely one week after the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for full time appointments to fill existing vacancies into the service.

Candidate were asked to log into the website www.prisons.gov.ng fill and submit the application form online. Applicants were also advised to print out the Referee forms which must be duly completed for submission during screening.

All applications are expected to be completed and submitted within six (6) weeks.

However, a check on the official website of the service on Sunday showed that the portal was unavailable.

The site had a short message on its homepage that reads, “WE WILL BE BACK SHORTLY.”

Meanwhile, a quick tech check on the site by this reporter shows that the site was created on December 25, 2008 by National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and was last updated in August 2014.

When DAILY POST reached out to the Registrant, Agi Edegi, he did not respond to our calls.

Meanwhile, the board is yet to explain the reason behind the unavailability of the portal.

Organisers of the just concluded 12th edition of Headies Awards have been accused of rigging the votes.

This was after the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced Yemi Alade as Best Performer of the Year while Tiwa Savage’s name appeared on the screen.

Although, Yemi Alade was given the award, Nigerians on social media have questioned the mistake, describing the result as being rigged.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, on Saturday picked up her membership card of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Adeosun, after her registration, posed with her card alongside the National Financial Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello.

In attendance were other party chieftains and members.

It is still unclear if the minister is planning to run for an elective position in 2019.

Calls to her spokesman, Oluyinka Akintunde, were not answered as at the time of filing this report.

Some reports, that Adeosun is said to be in the good books of Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who nominated her as a minister.

It is also believed that she enjoys the confidence of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has said that priests in Benue State may be forced to pick up arms and defend themselves against being killed by rampaging herdsmen.

He noted that the security agencies have been watching as herdsmen slaughter innocent citizens of the country even in their worship places.

The Bishop maintained that living in peace was less expensive than going to war, but insisted that the people would not continue to fold their hands and die on a daily basis.

Speaking with the Sun,he advised President Muhammadu Buhari to shelve the idea of returning to power in 2019.

According to him, “They have not done so. That is not our way and I don’t think they will. And I am hoping that we have not reached that stage yet. But you could reach that stage.

Yesterday, they killed us, the next day, they killed us, the policemen are around and they have done nothing. And the police are given guns and they don’t use them.

The Army comes and moves around and nothing happens. They are not going to wait for me to tell them what to do. They don’t want that to continue and all we have been telling government is please, don’t push people too far.

It is not possible to tell us that Nigeria is unable to secure our territory. We cannot believe it, to tell us that it is beyond the possibility of the police; that the whole Nigerian Army with the billion naira and the billion dollars budgets that we are spending; they still can’t keep us safe.

And they want me to believe that? We can’t believe it, which is why we are saying no, there is something seriously wrong which must be addressed quickly because at the end of the day, everybody is going to suffer.

Dino Melaye: Asari Dokubo reveals how Buhari, police allegedly tried to kill Senator (Watch Video)

Asari Dokubo, ex-militant leader has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari has marked Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye for death.
Dokubo claimed that Buhari arranged with the police to push the lawmaker out of a moving van.

Recall that Melaye was alleged to have jumped off a moving police van in Abuja conveying him to Lokoja to face criminal charges.

However, the ex-militant leader, wondered how the lawmaker could have jumped off the van with security operatives present and the doors locked.

In a video he posted in his Facbook, Dokubo said, “People are happy with what is happening to Dino Melaye, saying he deserves it.

“Yes he does but if Melaye, who was one of the most vociferous and loquacious personalities in Buhari’s campaign that brought this evil on us can be treated this way by throwing him out of a moving vehicle, then it can happen to any one of us.

“Buhari wanted to kill Melaye by throwing him off a bus, if not, how was it possible for Melaye to have jumped off a Hiace bus with police officers.

“In a Hiace bus, there are two seats in the front and four rolls of seats behind. In one of the role Melaye was seating there were armed police men and it was locked, how did Melaye jumped off?

“Was there a transfiguration or a Dino Melaye’s rapture?

“You know he has being singing some religious songs, may be he was in the spirit and was raptured and only to find himself on the ground outside the bus.

“People don’t ask questions, Buhari thinks that because he is the captain of ‘Dundy United’ we all are fans and players of this his club.

“The conclusion we can get from all this was that Dino Melaye was marked to be killed.”

Vice President , Prof Yemi Osinbajo has declared that it is total rubbish to attribute the discovery of River Niger to Mungo Park.

Osinbajo said people were already fishing in River Niger before Park’s grand father was born.

He made this comment on Tuesday at the ongoing programmed tagged The Platform.

Osinbajo, who harped on the need for Nigerians to promote their own, noted that there are many young persons from this country who have contributed intellectually to the growth of the nation.

“I tell you, it is total rubbish to say Mungo Park discovered RiverNiger. We all know that people where fishing in the River beforeMungo Park’s grandfather was born.

“This calls for the need for us to promote our own,” he said.

According to the vice president, “our business as government is to create more enabling environment for entrepreneurs to do business and create more infrastructure.

“We have to provide more jobs as more people are added to the population everyday.

“Today we are confronted with the remnants of Boko Haram with farmers/herdsmen clashes and ethno-religious conflicts,’’ he said.

Osinbajo recalled that when oil was selling for 100 to 142 dollars per barrel, the budget of Transport and Agriculture Ministries; all the ministries together got 139 billion.

“Today with oil prices between 60 and 70 dollars per barrel, the Power, Works and Housing, Agriculture and Transport Ministries got N560 billion.

“How come we can do more with less income?

“How come we are able to invest in infrastructure. How come we can do the Lagos-Kano standard rail gauge; the Second NgerBridge, with 60 per cent less income than we earned a few years ago,” he asked.

“The job of the builder is not to complain. I believe the solution is in building that Nigerian bridge.

“A bridge that will be built on the strongest materials of all and to excel in our commitment to build a new society.

“A bridge that connects us across tribes; across ethnicity; across dialects; a bridge that connects us across religion; across politics; and across even generations.

“Everyone of us can travel on this bridge. A bridge that rises from innovation and traditions and stands the troubled waters of our past.

“A bridge that can take the traffic of all our best Nigerians and creativity; and human and materials to the destination of our dream.”

Big brother Naija finalist, Tobi has said he will kill Cee-c, Nina and marry Alex.
However, the feeling seem to be considerate as Tobi while playing the Smash, Marry or Kill game, told CoolFM that he will kill Cee-c and Nina but not smash any of them.

When asked if he had settled his differences with Cee-c, Tobi said, ”In the house it was madness but for now it is just positive vibe. We have to maintain a cordial relationship so we can work together.

Tobi also said he will not date Cee-c. He said she either does not know how to control her emotions or she is overly emotional.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has claimed that he deserves credit for bringing Mohamed Salah to Stamford Bridge.

He said he should not be blamed for selling the Liverpool star to Roma in 2016.

A 21-year-old Salah arrived at Stamford Bridge from Basel for €16.5million in January 2014.

However, the Egypt international found opportunities hard to come by at the club and was loaned to Fiorentina the following winter and then sold to Roma the following summer.

Salah returned to the Premier League at the start of this season, signing with Liverpool for a then club-record fee of €42m and has gone on to score 43 goals in all competitions, winning the PFA Player of the Year in the process.

“I think everything has surprised even him. It has been fantastic.

“But he is a great player that has reached the peak of maturity, he has already lived several other experiences and now has fitted perfectly into the style of play of the team, of the coach and of the club as well. So it doesn’t surprise me that much,” Mourinho told ESPN Brazil.

Senator on the platform of the All Progressives Congress Congress, APC, Muhammed Shittu, has lambasted the Federal Government over the alleged manhandling of Senator from Kogi West, Dino Melaye by police operatives.

Shittu, a Jigawa State lawmaker said under the current administration, people can be killed for saying the truth.

Speaking on the face-off between Melaye and the police, on the floor of the senate, Shittu said Nigerians did not vote in APC government to be mistreated.

He said,

“The law now works against people who are perceived to be enemies. You fight for change and this is the kind of change we are experiencing today. There are proofs and I know because of what I’ve said, I can be killed. I don’t mind being killed.

“It is good for one to speak the truth and be killed. What is happening to us today is not fair and we have the rights to our opinions. Everybody is against the national assembly as if we are the enemies of this nation.

“We are not enemies. We are representatives of the people and as such, we must speak the truth. We should condemn, in totality, what is happening. What is happening is not the change.

“If this is change, I doubt if I can continue under this kind of environment. And I know a lot of people share a similar opinion with me.

“This is no change. We didn’t vote this government to be mistreated. We didn’t vote this government to abuse court processes and procedures. It’s not fair, we advise the government to change before it is late.”


Melaye was alleged to have jumped off a police van in Abuja while being transported to Kogi State to face criminal charges.

Following the incident, the lawmaker sustained injuries and is currently at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital in Abuja.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Wednesday said the senate was trying to resolve the crisis involving the embattled Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye.

Saraki made the disclosure while addressing journalists during a visit to the embattled Senator at the National Hospital, in Abuja.

He disclosed that Melaye was stable but still in the intensive care.

According to Saraki, the embattled lawmaker has not eaten in the last 24 hours.

“We are happy that we’ve just seen him. He’s in the intensive care and stable for now, though he has not eaten in the last 24 hours and we are trying to resolve that.”

Saraki led a senate delegation to visit Melaye at the National Hospital.
