The People’s Democratic Party of Nigeria have begun their path back to the summit today with what will be a major phase in it’s history. The Party suffered defeat at the last Presidential elections as Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan was in the contest against the current President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari defeated Jonathan by about two million votes to send PDP parking after 16 consecutive years in Power. The PDP had previously boasted that it will steer the affairs of the nation for 60 years but as the elections drew near the party suffered major setbacks as many big players decamped to the All Progressive Congress. The People’s Democratic party’s decision to field Goodluck Jonathan was the stressor that caused the massive downgrade at the party as the Northern elite were clearly rooting for someone from their tribe to rule irrespective of he not being in PDP.

However after President Muhammadu Buhari took control they were rather disappointed with his misrule and his high incompetence, sensless killings in the country and his undemocratic approach towards sensitive issues like the respect for legislature which caused a straneous relationship with the Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Saraki had stepped up to fight the presidency and after many battles formed the R-APC whose members are now mostly in PDP.
PDP had earlier tried to stage a comeback but were held down by former Party Chairman Ali Sheriff who they claimed was a member of the opposition sent to destroy the party. After a long battle in court, Sheriff was sacked and Ahmed Markafi was made the new Party Chairman on temporary basis before the installation of Prince Uche Secondus who hails from Rivers State after their last convention.

Prince Secondus had a task to unite the party and lure back it’s former members which he has done successfully to an extent.
Today the decision on who the Party’s Presidential Flag bearer will be is going to be made with 12 Aspirants from which the party will choose.

The Most notable names in the run are Senate
President Bukola Saraki, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Ibrahim Damkwabo, Atiku Abubakar, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. The other contenders have a less than 25% possibility of emerging as compared to these who possess popularity and geographical advantage.

President Muhammadu Buhari has shown over his three and half years in office that he is undemocratic. He has also shown an attitude which is unsportsmanlike in the past when he lost Presidential pools by threatening fire and brimstone. His tenure as President has seen the most disgraceful and disgusting type or rigging as vote buying and manipulation of INEC has become a casual thing. The All Progressive Congress have also used the media to peddle false praise for itself and has shut out anyone with a dissenting voice to their performances in government.

The Law enforcement agencies have become tools of the All Progressive Congress and the invasion of the National Assembly in early August was another hint as to how far they are willing to go. While

Paul Pogba’s name has been trending all week not because he scored a hattrick or won a man of the match award or may be missed an important penalty but over a public expression of his displeasure over his manager’s brand of football.
Statistics has it that Manchester United are the team with more passes in their own half as compared to some other teams in the league whose defenders have played 80% of their passes in the opposition half.

Manchester United under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson were famous for playing one of the most exciting styles of football with their history of producing a British talent every year and some spectacular foreign talents too with their impressive wing football display. Five years after the legendary Scot called it a day the club seemed to be stagnated in mediocrity as it has barely challenged for the League nor delivered adequate silverwares to match their status as the most decorated club in the country.

The club has hired a few managers so far with none giving the fans a glimpse of the past and a hope for the future as it’s all be weird football from David Moyes, Luis Van Gaal and now Jose Mourinho. Paul Pogba a graduate of United’s football academy who left the club under controversial circumstances as he moaned of a lack of faith in him by the former boss Sir Alex Ferguson in which he was limited to game time even when the midfield was plagued with injuries.

Pogba left United after a contract dispute between his agent, the powerful and may be greedy Mino Raiola. Rialo boasts of being the agent of many notable players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli. Pogba moved to Juventus on a free transfer and though was expected to perform badly by many, thrived producing scintillating performances and adorable memories. Pogba won the scudetto four times. Twice under Antonio Conte and twice under current manager Max Allegri.

After four successful years at the club he made a decision to leave and with a host of clubs in for him chose Manchester United his boyhood team despite their not being in the Champions League. Pogba smashed the transfer record previously held by Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale in his £89 million move to Old Trafford.

Since his arrival there has been much expectation from him and the press have had a busy day scrutinzing every iota of his displays on the pitch. He has been criticized by pundits for not doing enough despite making so many assists and scoring important goals such as the one in Stockholm in the Europa League final which Manchester United won against Ajax. Pogba has been in the news lately over his disillusionment at the club having not won enough by his standards and most importantly not playing a brand of football that makes him tick.

Pogba’s expulsion from captaincy duties has caused a spark of war as he had earlier on criticised Jose Mourinho for being too defensive in his tactics. Mourinho’s reaction suggests he is fed up pleasing Pogba and why should a captain talk that way to the press?

What is Pogba’s real problem?

Paul Pogba had told Ed Woodward earlier on that he wanted to leave the club before the end of the transfer window but was told he would not be allowed to leave. Barcelona had approached Pogba and he agreed personal terms only for the hitch in his move to come from Woodward’s stance.
Paul Pogba has lost faith in his manager Jose Mourinho as each time the team plays they tend to apply the underdog mentality.
