I tell people I want to join the Army and everyone's telling me that I shouldn't try it, and that people are running from it while I'm going there like I'm blind.

But here lies someone categorically telling us that every senior personnel wants their ward in the army.

What is in the army that nobody is telling me?

Oga d Fact is most of d big men's in d military want their sons/wards to belong, cos is easy for them, and also they want their siblings to follow their foot steps by being someone in future. Also some join it as option to get Employed in a FG agency dat paid at least an Average salary. Dats my own view sir

It doesn't really matter even if he claims his father is Buhari, just draw the positives from his post and arm urself for the unforseen, that is one of the traits of a very good Officer who will lead people into battle someday, never underestimate, underrate or trivialise any bit of information you get.

Oga don't mind that @classicabdul21, he always come here and criticise ppl comments, claiming to be an x-boy or x-commando or whatsoever he claims to be, I am very sure he has no military bearing and regimentation.
And if u go there and show over sabi u will put ur self into problem, just mind ur business and do d job. Most of u will be eating d salary and be afraid to work as a soldiers, and u will be boldly calling ur self x-boys.

and Lt.col YM Dodo as Academy adjutant for both New and old Site.
They all reported today.
U will surely need them when u resume training, cos those prep wingers may ask u, and if u don't know u will serve it....

No.he means 3 officers that will screened candidates for d selection Board.

This is a nice point u made.
But has a child who grew up with a military personnel I want to tell you that there's nothing like 'festive holidays' for military personnel.

During those festive periods, that's when the personnel work very hard to ensure a peacful festive holidays.

If in doubt, on that said 25th, 26th and 1st, go to police stations (Divisional) you will see a lot of DPOs fully kitted in their offices. Most of them will close late from work on those festive days..

Some officers will be deployed to certain environments on that festive periods to ensure there's peace in those environments.

The list might come out this month and might not come out.

But festive period is certainly not a factor. If the Army decides to carry out exercise on 25th, even FG wont tell them to postpone it.

According to my dad, 'there's no Holiday or strike in the military'.
Duty calls at anytime. Even at night.

Just be prepared. Anything is possible. This is Nigeria

U call ur self x-boy or what, I am a regimental soldier Train in Depot NA and serving d NA currently in NE, am in Benishek right now, I have seen many of u here dat are afraid to come, but running to go skul and do rubbish in d skul for years without Graduating, or end of in Robbery and kidnappings issues, collecting salary but afraid to work as a soldiers. Am very sure u never work in d unit for a complete 6 months. And u are telling me I knows nothing about d NA. Mtseww

And if u say after 25 n 26, d remaining days is not enuf to screen applicants before another pre determined public holiday new year wen all personnel will still b on break again, so as to ur previous quote about list and screening dis month, am very confident using African time especially naija time to say dat it's not possible. During the last exercise, d secretary on ground was a maj gen or so.,assisted by a col.n some few Lt. And u want dem to leave their family on festive period or disobey a direct order from commander in chief that 25, 26 n 1st is a general public holiday? Since the history of FG recruitment in naija nothing is done on festive occasions... Dat is a pattern dat never changes... And I believe @sherrif is right, probably month ending or January will b the day all applicants will bear their father's names....am just using logic, estimation and facts on ground, i stand to be corrected but again this is Nigeria, if you know, you know.

Oga in military the Break is just a privilege not a Right to have d break, so any thing can happen. If u are in front line will u say today is a public holiday, there fore we will all go and Relax, NO.

Pulling out parade means to Honour the Retired officers by conducting parades and other drills, it means exit of retired officers from d service, I experience it In Makurdi 2016.

getting posted to these juicy units you said is also not automatic for RC officers

you most likely must lobby and have proved over time that you are a capable leader

and same way do DSSC officers lobby(but not for all positions, just some)

but you see RC, they can even be corp commanders of another corp.

Hmm. Whether u like it or not, Army belongs to regulars, that's why we never had a COAS whom isn't a Regular officer.

We should just pray for Our Destiny to be good always.

RC's are always posted to juicy units to be rich and be commanders where there is comfort.

If u can go round all d formations in North East u will see dat 90% of d officers there are Either SSC/DSSC/ EC. That's why if u go as SSC 90% of u will be posted to fighting corps, so zero it from now. D day u passout ........

Hahahaha. I saw something that happened in my unit, when Regular officers are rotated from NE with short service officers, that's when I heard them saying Army belong to Regulars. So guy be serious about it , I pray for u to be there u will see d discrimination about RC and SSC/DSSC/EC.

The Navy list is out and as predicted the interview is gonna clash with that of the Air force for candidates from the last 18 states of the federation.
