Wainey: Ikwerre this Ikwerre that. Until everybody deny you, you won't have sense. Work on your tribe and you won't be forcing people to be recognized as igbos, they will beg to join you. But for now, the igbos is the least palatable tribe that people will want to associate with, so stop all these long epistle and get to work, bring back the old Igbo that produced people like Nnamdi Azikwe
The present set of igbos are vile, insultive, feral, wicked, ethnocentric and pompous, Nobody wants to associate with that. Such a waste of social media space. The article was written by an Ikwerre man who has defined himself as Igbo, the hell are you to tell him otherwise. For the records, I was born in Obigbo in the mid 70s, that area was and still remain with Igbo the only language aside English widely spoken there. Check places like Kom Kom, Afam, Obete, Obeama, Obonku, Mmirinwayi all within the LG and tell me who is there. |

Kobojunkie: What exactly is the essence of ASUU by the way? I have yet to find any sane country that has a University student union government wielding as much ridiculous influence as this ASUU seems to. To start with, ASUU isn't a 'student union government' but a union of university teachers fighting not just for the welfare of her members but the overall development of the education sector in the country. Everyone around the world including the advanced nations likes US, UK, Canada have unions. If you feel ASUU wields ridiculous influence, that's because you don't know what the union fights for. You can hate ASUU as much as you want, but the truth which even the govt knows and admits is that without ASUU our education system would've been a mess. |

Ventura1: Tell us something in the list that is above board? If the students are to remain at home, won't the parent spend more just on feeding? The point I made isn't bout the cost of those services but the impression your post and its title created that education is free because no tuition fees are paid. Don't get me wrong, I'm a strong opponent of free education, at least of the dubious and deceptive ones offered by some state govts here. Education is a capital intensive project as needs huge investment which the govt alone can't provide. With very little coming from the private sector, end users of education (students) have to contribute no matter how small to ensure quality is maintained. Again, your post creates a wrong impression in the minds of the uninformed ad that's what I'm against. Thanks and have a nice day. |
Education › Re: Federal Universities & Unity Colleges Are Still Tuition Free by Sojourner1976: 7:31am On Jul 22, 2023 |
What does it matter if tuition fees are paid or not so long as there are other services being paid for? Free tuition fee is deceptive as it gives the unlearned and uninformed the impression that education is free when stricto sensu it's not.
You are how bad it's that even failure to pay even the least of those fees won't admit a student into class. |

Politics › Re: Why Is Opposition Not Organising For Protests? by Sojourner1976: 3:01pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
Kukutenla: With the state of the economy and the general mood of the nation, the ground is ripe for a protest. The opposition led by Obi is giving the ruling party too much breathing space. He got over 68% in Abuja the capital and won in Lagos the commercial capital, as well as in Port Harcourt and Benin City. Atiku also won in Kaduna while Kwankwaso won Kano. In all, this shows that the silent majority are not in support of this govt. Leaving the masses to their fate in the hands of this terrible government will mean that they are complicit or at least tacitly support the strangulating policies. Obi for example can stage a solidarity walk in Abuja while he leaves Lagos for the likes of Rinu, Falz and Macaroni to remove any ethnic labelling. If the opposition fails to seize this moment, they can as well forget about the cases in court and more importantly 2027 as it will mean the ruling party has no alternative to its misfiring. No court will remove a sitting govt when the opposition does not even seem strong enough to show up and cause them some discomfort. Neither will INEC fail to pander to the whims of a ruling party if this level of complacency from the opposition continues. No opposition is leading any protest, if you're pained by the increment, start the protest, others may join. |

Kukutenla: I really don't know what the opposition is waiting for to start a protest on the state of the economy. Are the scared or they are actually in agreement with the ruling party concerning the direction the economy is facing Opposition? Like seriously? When NLC tried to protest against the increment in June, was Joe Ajaero not accused of pushing an ethnic agenda against Tinubu? Was he not frustrated with many branches of the NLC in the South West and North West backing out? |

That's not true bro, democracy isn't the problem here but greed of politicians. Democracy is working in saner climates and the cost of governance isn't so high as it's here in Nigeria. Personally, I use to spend between 10/15k monthly on fuel per week but now I only buy 2/3k fuel mainly on Saturdays to take the family to church. The rest of the days I trek or join public transport.
