Making these exports tariff-free may sound like a good deal on the surface, but in reality, it mostly benefits China more than Nigeria. By removing tariffs on raw materials like crude oil, minerals, and agricultural products, China is able to source inputs at a cheaper rate, which directly lowers their cost of production. This gives their industries an even bigger advantage, as they can manufacture goods more cheaply and remain highly competitive in global markets—while Nigeria continues exporting mostly unprocessed resources with limited value added. In contrast, Nigeria gains very little beyond increased export volume, because the real profits are made during processing and manufacturing. Instead of strengthening local industries, tariff-free exports can actually discourage domestic production and industrial growth. In the long run, this kind of arrangement risks keeping Nigeria in a cycle of supplying cheap raw materials while importing expensive finished goods, ultimately widening the economic gap rather than closing it. |
China imports a wide range of raw materials from different parts of Nigeria, and these resources actually come from specific states across the country. The bulk of it is crude oil and natural gas, which mainly come from oil-producing states like Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Edo, and Ondo. These regions form the backbone of Nigeria’s exports to China. In addition, China also imports solid minerals such as iron ore, gold, lithium, and limestone from states like Kogi, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Ogun, which are used for construction and industrial production. On the agricultural side, products like sesame seeds, soybeans, maize, cocoa, and rubber are sourced from states such as Benue, Niger, Kano, Kaduna, Taraba, Oyo, and Cross River. Timber and wood also come from forest-rich states like Cross River, Edo, and Ondo, while hides and skins are mainly supplied from northern states like Kano, Sokoto, and Borno. Overall, Nigeria supplies China largely with raw and unprocessed materials from across its regions, highlighting the country’s strong natural resource base but also the need for more local processing and industrial development. |

Wise master, please what's the Constitutional way, when nothing like self-determination is in the Nigeria's constitution. Please educate wise master, the right way to win in a game where the ref doesn't follow the rules he set, but decides which one to obey and which one not to obey. Wise one, there must be a way, because the 1967 Aburi Accord was a very peaceful way, but it was rejected and ended up with violence. A million and one awaits your indepth knowledge about the Constitutional way sir. Salewa97: |
The president is very accessible. I'm the only person the president will see today. The president won't see anyone today but me The president is very accessible |

Tribalism differs across Nigeria. Hausas are the most tribalistic, Yoruba come next, and Igbos are less so. Yoruba pride in language, kings, and culture is admirable, but it becomes tribalism when everyone must follow their way or when politics favours the tribe over the nation. Igbos succeed by adapting and migrating, but this often means less focus on their homeland, while Hausa/Fulani tribalism shows in cultural protection and political unity — Kannywood is a good example. Tribalism preserves identity; racism is believing one race is superior. Yoruba people should be proud to be tribalistic, but they must also embrace nationalism so that tribal loyalty strengthens Nigeria rather than divides it. After all, tribalism shows loyalty to your people; racism shows hate for others — love your tribe, but love Nigeria more. |
I experienced Yoruba tribalism firsthand in 2000 at the IT department of a federal ministry in Abuja. My boss gave me instructions in Yoruba without considering if I was even competent for the role. When I didn’t understand, he said, “You don’t understand the official language of your country?” and called another intern who did. It took about three months before I could prove I was competent enough — and, of course, I had started learning Yoruba, not by choice but because from 9 to 5, Monday to Friday, all I heard was the language. This is very common with many Yoruba bosses. Nothing is inherently wrong with it — pride in your tribe is fine. But the problem is choosing it over national values and making those who hold national values feel bad. Tribalism isn’t about land or — it’s about how you treat anyone outside your tribe. |
My brother, with respect, using land sales as proof that Yoruba are not tribalistic doesn’t hold water. Land is business. You sell it, you make money, end of story. In fact, allowing more people to purchase Yoruba land has only increased the value and created the thriving real estate market we see in Lagos today. But in times of crisis, history has shown that “outsiders” lose that land — it gets repossessed by indigenes, civil war testimonies confirm this — and no law protects those who lose their property in such moments. So selling land doesn’t mean there’s no tribalism. Selling land is business; tribalism is behaviour. Land sales don’t erase tribalism, they only prove Yoruba love money. Tribalism is not measured by what you sell, but by how you treat who buys |
Why didn't they give us Yar'adua and Obasanjo. Lol |
PlasmaTV:Best way to conceal the evidence. If anyone goes through the building, you are likely to find incriminating evidence against more people. Especially if they kept a journal or a vault with information. An active crime scene, and what happened to forfeiture via court and turning the house to a small barracks for security people. It's not like the building can't be used for something else. EFCC have seized properties from so many people, how many were destroyed. The 753 house in Abuja is being resolved not demolished. |
Why take random scripts, what if they were not random. How about selecting the script of those who requested for the re marking and make available the question paper and the answers. Jamb should simply make public the question papers for all the exams along with the answers. Everyone will then mark their script. That is transparent |
I haven't ever heard Peter Obi drag another opposition candidate or party. He has been solely focused on the ruling party. Even Reno never gets a reply. Opposition attacking opposition. |

Lol. If she's forcing us to rethink Japa was the intention then you have very limited idea of what she is saying or he implications of what she is saying. She is saying she only wants those who have huge finances, high IQ, and highly sought skills to come, and the rest should not come. That is discrimination. Modern day exploitation as they seek to take away the best brains, further impoverishing the nation. Secondly, the British came to our lands first, as you say you studied history, and distorted our development path as well as rewrote our history in their own image, tok away our people into slaves (which were mostly the strongest and most beautiful) and have consistently supported programs that tied us down. How is that now, they are saying immigrants are their problem. For all the problems immigrants caused, they also come with them solutions. At least immigration gave them Kemi, and it's the same pathway she came through, she seeks to close. I guess the irony is that she thinks the pathway attracts evil people just like her. |
Nigerian Teachers saw this news and were shocked. The could not believe that teachers could afford a passport and even a trip abroad. Absolutely shocking. |
The saying is that , any one the igbos support is sure to loose, and whenever the igbos support you, your definitely going to loose. Perhaps they are trying out the theory by supporting Mr President |
Hamilton1:This news gets as e be. What kind of reporting is this. In what way did he claim responsibility. When terrorists claim responsibility, they release a statement or a video. This report just said he claims responsibility, was it an interview, a video, a Facebook post, what else did he say in the statement? While I condemn the destruction and death caused by Simon Ekpa and his like, the govt should be honest I'm their pursuit to have him repatriated, or we will risk making him a hero. |
If hypo decides to sue him for this bad publicity he's giving them now, he will be shocked |
Food will forever remain relatively cheaper in the north because of the simple laws of economics. Comparative cost advantage, north produces the food, so the total cost before it gets to the consumer is less. The only item that defiles all laws in Nigeria is petrol. The region that produces it, pays more than the region that spends loads on transport to get the product. Even when it's being imported, landing cost of fuel at Lagos is same or cheaper with landing cost of fuel at far northern regions. |
The agenda of feminising men continues. .. more accolades for the new face to follow, less than 5yrs ago he was described as disgusting and irritating...now g He's celebrated.. dining with the stars and of course has become a role model. It's not you they are after.. it's your children and the next generation.. una dey play draught with people that are playing chess. And more people are dressed as women now, either as a form of comedy or acting. No one is asking why you have to dress like a woman to do comedy when we have plenty of male roles. Making men dress, feel, and act like women is the easiest way to pass any agenda |
That car became the man's own the moment he paid his first installment as agreed. So paying the last installment as agreed completed the deal.. if the reverse was the case, and prices of cars crashed drastically and the man asked for his money back after he had paid his last installment and you had paid for your dream car, would you be yammering this online? Honestly, we are too dishonest and our leaders are a true reflection of our lives. Look at the amount of people condemning the buyer, for following up with an agreement. He should have gotten a lawyer to sign an agreement with his good neighbour... He kept his own part of the deal, if you want the car back, ask him to sell it to you. He would sell at his own price. |
Number 2.. flat shoes, leaning forward, and then child facing her |

A man who committed adultery with a married woman should not only confess to his wife, but also to the woman's husband he committed adultery with. Because he offended the man as well. |
Lagos was the capital of Nigeria from 1914 - 1991.. Can the Indigenous people of Abuja now insist on producing a Governor if Abuja is no longer the FCT? I really don't understand why the truth is so bitter. Abuja has been a capital for about 33yrs and it's already described as no man's land, how much more a place that was the Capital of Nigeria for over 70yrs. I mean, some Hausa, Igbo and ever Yoruba people don't know another home or village other than Lagos. Are all Yoruba people now from Lagos? The truth remains that Lagos is no man's land. It benefits from the fact that it's no man's land and attracts investment from every tribe, so it should accept the burden of being no man's land when other tribes seeks to govern it. |

Happy independence Day |
twentyfivekobo:Privatisation started with......Obj..but all na PDP and Govt is a continuation. twentyfivekobo:Yeah, but elections held, results not disputed in all the States. twentyfivekobo:But those who went to the supreme court to enforce sharing of the money are in govt now. All governors should be held accountable for that. Honestly, i really prayed that Buhari would get it right. The only reason many people voted his was not because of the failure of Govt, but because of the mouth watering promises made. Payment to all youths monthly, feeding for school children, 1dollar to 1naira, get rid of corruption, lead the war against terrorism from the front. If Buhari had said he would crash naira more, allow bandits take over FCT, make kidnapping lucrative, institutionalise corruption, and blame security chiefs for not tackling terrorism...who for vote APC. I mean strong statements like power is not rocket science, if we don't fix power, stone us. Build refinary, and health sector was what won many people to them. That's the reason why we are disappointed.. |
Three pages and only few people got past the headline. Let summarise. Exchange rate then was used to calculate input. And present exchange rate is used to calculate value. Using only naira, it shows almost double, but because of exchange rate.....it's reduced.. This simply explains the reason why 30k that looked reasonable some years back, is no longer reasonable today. |
