Anfani nodded. 'Yes, we know. That's why we're here now. My friend here, Agatha is joining us.'

Cyril gazed at Agatha. 'I thought I've seen her before. Was she not here last weekend?'

Agatha shook her head vigorously while Anfani said,

'No. She's just joining us.'

'Good,' Cyril said. He offered his right hand to Agatha for a handshake. 'You're welcome, baby.'

Agatha did not like to be so addressed, especially from a near-stranger, but she didn't say a thing.

'Good evening, sir,' Agatha said.

'What?' Cyril looked scandalized. 'Drop the sir. I'm Cyril to everybody here, is that not so, Anfani?'

Anfani and Fatty smiled. 'Yes, it is so,' Anfani said.

He nodded. 'That's it. Alright, you ladies should go to the dressing room and get prepared.

They nodded. Anfani led them to the cozy dressing room where they met two other young ladies.

'Hello, girls,' Anfani greeted.

'Hi,' one of them answered.

Agatha had thought it was a dressing room where they would change to a costume or something. She was shocked at the turn of event.

'Take a locker where you'll keep your clothes,' Anfani told her.

She was at a loss. The two ladies they had met had started removing their clothes. Anfani and Fatty were doing the same thing.

'Where're the costumes we'll wear?' Agatha asked.

'Our naked bodies are our costumes,' Anfani replied.

'Sorry I didn't tell you: we're dancing naked.'

'What?!' Agatha genuinely looked horrified. 'You can't be serious!'

The other two ladies turned to stare at her. They were now completely naked and they seemed so unabashed about it.

'You didn't tell her before?' Fatty asked Anfani.

'Yes. But, it's all part of the fun,' Anfani replied as she removed her bra and pantie.

She smiled at Agatha. 'Don't worry, my dear. It's just that the guests are not interested in the clothes you're wearing. Rather, they want to see your natural boobs and bum as you dance. Those are the things that impress them and that's why they're dropping their money.'

Agatha was dumb-founded. She could simply not believe what she was hearing.

'One thing I can assure you is that the pay is good. Then, another thing: even if you're still a virgin, you'll remain one, except you choose not to. Everything is harmless, okay?'

Agatha was in a dilemma. She thought of leaving the club right now and never coming again. But she also thought of the word 'harmless' which Anfani said. If it was harmless, why must she chicken out?

'Come on, Agatha,' Fatty urged. 'This is a cool thing to do, if you ask me.'

'And there's cool money to earn. Baby, get undressed. You don't have all day.'

Agatha nodded dumbly, as her hands went to her top to start removing her clothes.

A week after Eddie had brought Dolly home, he was having the fun of his life, or so he thought. He certainly found this experience fantastic and fascinating. Dolly was the best partner he ever had, in his own reckoning. She never complained.

She never demanded for anything, and she was never tired of him. Real-life or not, Eddie believed this was a blissful experience. He got a call from Miss Linda, the manager of the store where he had made the august purchase.

'Good day, sir. This is Miss Linda on the line.'

'Good day,' he replied. 'Yes, I've stored your number, so I know you're the one. How're you?'

'Fine. I call to find out if you have any complaint about the product we sold to you.'

He was suddenly curious. She seemed to know a lot about him. Although they were neighbors, the way she answered glibly showed that it was very likely the relationship between her and Sam was more than just neighbors.

'I see,' he said. 'Alright, Bisi. When next you speak with him, tell him I've been trying to reach him. Tell him to call me. I may also call you to ask about him, or you call me about him. You have my number, right?'

'Yes, sir.'

'Good. I want you to inform me about him. Sam is such a good guy that one must not abandon him in his trying period.'

Innocently, she nodded in agreement. ‘I’ll do just that, uncle.’

Sam drove straight to the expansive premises of Tulux Pharmaceutical Company at Ota. At the entrance gate of the company, the security men asked him his mission.

'I want to see a friend, Mike Duro.'

'Okay, drive in and park at the parking space.'

Sam nodded and parked the Hyundai jeep on the parking lot under the glittering morning sun. He locked the car and went into the building.

He could perceive the pervasive smell of syrup and other patent medicines. At the reception hall, he told the lady behind the desk that he wanted to see Mr. Duro of the Engineering Department.

He was asked to sit down and wait. After several minutes, he was given the visitor's tag and directed to go to the first floor, last room by the left.

'Thanks,' he told the lady.

In brisk steps, he climbed the stair case and moved to the directed room. He knocked at the door once and entered the office.

'Samuel, the great!' Michael hailed him as soon as he entered.

'Bobo Michael, this is your face. Long time no see.'
The two friends shook hands.

'It's good to see you, after such a long time,' Sam said. 'How's work?'

'Work dey o. How're about you? How's Lagos?'

'Lagos is fine, but I cannot say the same thing for myself.'

Michael looked at him curiously. 'Hope no problem?'

Sam sighed. 'There's one. It's not a very big one, but it's such that I needed to leave Lagos for a while and cool off far away. That's why I'm here. I need to put up with you for some days.'

Michael stared at him. 'That must be a serious thing. I hope you've not committed serious a crime there.'

Sam laughed shortly. 'Oh no. Let your mind be at rest that your old buddy, Sam, has committed no crime. Rather, my coming is to avoid some ugliness and miscarriage of justice. Let me say I'm the victim here, not the culprit.'

Michael stared at him. He and Sam were buddies, right from their polytechnic days at Ibadan.

They had belonged to the same cult group. He knew that though Sam looked nice and innocent, he was capable of many terrible deeds.

Sam must be on the run for something grave. He knew the old boy.

'I hope you did not sleep with your boss' wife,' Michael said.

Sam was struck by how accurate Michael could be.

But he would not admit anything like that, at least for now.

He smiled it off easily. 'No such thing happened. I only had a conflict of interest with my boss and it degenerated to his having big suspicion for me. In the circumstance, my leaving that area for now is the best option. As soon as the dusts settle down, I will go back and things will be reconciled and back to normal.'

Michael nodded and patted him on the left shoulder.

'You're welcome, Sam. My home is your home and yours is mine. There's no problem. You can stay for as long as you want.'

He brought out his house keys. 'Do you still remember the place?'

Anfani scoffed at that. 'Are you saying it's your uncle that gives you fun? Come on, Agatha, why don't you go to where the fun really is?'

Agatha stopped in what she was doing to stare at her friend and roommate.

'What're you trying to say, Anfani?'

'See, I should have told you some time ago and I was wondering how you would react to it.'

'React to what? What did you want to tell me?'

Anfani moved closer to her. 'See, there's a place we can go tonight to have great fun.'

'Really?'

'Yes. It's a club house. A new club house.'

Agatha clouded her face. 'I don't really love going to clubs or parties. Besides, I don't like prostituting my body in any way.'

Anfani looked indignant. 'Who's asking you to prostitute your body? See, this new club needs dancers. All you will do is to dance.'

Agatha was getting interested. 'Are you sure that is all to it?'

'Of course. I and my friend, Fatty, were there last weekend. You'll get paid for dancing. What's more, some of the customers who are very impressed can even come to spray currency notes - both local and international - on you. It's as cool as that.'

Agatha became completely interested. 'If that's the case, then count me in.'

Anfani nodded. 'Good. The club is at Ikoyi. We'll go there by six p.m.'

'In that case, I need to let my dad know that I'll not be coming home again tonight.'

'Yes, do that.'

Agatha brought out her phone and put a call to her daddy. Eddie was on his way home from office when her call came through.

'Hello, Agatha. How're you?' he greeted.

'I'm fine, daddy. I want to tell you I won't be able to come home again tonight.'

'Why?' Eddie demanded.

Agatha had already thought of a little lie to tell. 'One of my lecturers has put his test for tomorrow. Can you imagine? That's the situation.'

Eddie sighed and the sound was audible across the line.

'Alright,' he said. 'Make sure you study very well and you do your test well,' he admonished.

'Yes, daddy.'

'Alright, good night.'

'Goodnight. My regards to Nnena and her sisters.'

Anfani who had been keenly listening to her utterances burst into laughter as soon as Agatha cut the line.

'You're going to write a test indeed!'

'Abi o. I've got to start preparing for the test right away.'

There was another round of laughter. Just then, Anfani glanced at her watch. 'Hey, let's start preparing for our outing now.'

As they were dressing up, they were joined by Lateefat, also known as Fatty, Anfani's friend, who had also been to the club with Anfani before. The three young ladies left the campus and took a cab to Ikoyi.

They were billed to start their session by seven p.m and they were there quarter to seven.

'It's good you ladies are early,' Cyril the club manager said. 'The management does not condone lateness.'

Anfani nodded. 'Yes, we know. That's why we're here now. My friend here, Agatha is joining us.'

Cyril gazed at Agatha. 'I thought I've seen her before. Was she not here last weekend?'

Agatha shook her head vigorously while Anfani said,

Many hours later, after he closed from work, Chief Kashi decided to pay unscheduled visit to his Igbogbo house, where Sam resided. It would look like he had come on a routine visit but the fact was he had come to see things for himself concerning Sam.

The compound looked deserted when he got there.

The tenants of the main building had not returned from work. He moved to the Boys' Quarter. Music was coming from one of the rooms there. It was from Bisi's apartment.

He knocked at her door. Within seconds, she opened the door.

'Ah, uncle, welcome, sir. Good evening.' She normally called him 'uncle', ever since she was a kid.

Kashi nodded. 'Bisi, how are you?'

'Fine, sir.'

He looked towards Sam's deserted apartment. 'And how's your neighbor?'

'He's fine, sir.'

Kashi's heart skipped a beat. He was fine? Sam was fine? No, no, no. That was not the kind of response he expected to hear.

'Where's he? He didn't come to work today. I tried his line but I couldn’t get through to him.'

'Oh, you mean he didn't tell you? He said he had to travel as his father urgently asked him to come and see him.'

Kashi could not believe all these he was hearing.

'Sam travelled? Are you sure of what you're saying?'

'Yes. That was what he said to me on the phone.'

‘You were able to talk to him on phone?’

‘Yes, he called me.’

Kashi nodded. 'When did you see him last?'

'This morning. He was on admission in the hospital last night but, thank God he was okay by this morning. I left him in the house when I was going to work.'

So, Sam did not die! That chap did not die but managed to slip out of his hands!

But Chief Kashi remained calm. He managed a smile.

'It's like he's going through some distress these days,' she went on. ‘But, thank God, he survived.’

'Yes. Thank God he survived,’ Kashi said listlessly.

‘Experiencing food poisoning is not a palatable one. It was indeed a trying time for him.'

Kashi feigned ignorance. 'Food poisoning? He had food poisoning?'

Again, Bisi was surprised that Sam had not told him.

'Yes, food poisoning. He was on admission at New Life Hospital throughout the night and was treated for food poisoning. It was just this morning he started getting better.'

'You mean he went through all these and he didn't let me know?'

'The thing must have disoriented him,' she explained.

Three days after the unsavory incident, Joe was miffed that the police had neither apprehended Wendy nor bring her to justice.

'All the addresses she put on the so-called c.v were fake,' Sergeant Momoh had explained. Those she used as referees were either non-existing or of fake addresses. We could not pin her down to anybody. Her known telephone numbers were not going. Of course, she has not shown up at the business center since that day. Be patient, we're still trying to track her down.'

Be patient! Joe scoffed in his mind. How long would he be patient? What would have pleased him was getting her behind bar.

This plea of exercising patience was actually not what he wanted to hear.

He sat back relaxingly on the chair in his office. He had been able to retrieve his mobile lines and, for now, had bought a not-so-expensive Nokia phone.

It pained him to realize that his i-phone and Samsung smart phone were no more.

Someone knocked at his door.

'Yes, come in,' he called out.

The knob was turned and the door pushed inside. Agatha came in, looking very pretty. One look at her made Joe to forget about his apprehensions.

'Good afternoon, sir,' she greeted.

'Agatha, Agatha. How're you?'

'Fine, sir. Hope I'm not disturbing anything?'

'Oh, no, you're not. Sit down.'

They had light conversations. Joe would have wished to take her to Lolita again, but the recent ugly outing flashed across his mind.

You must caution yourself a bit, he told himself.

'I hope I did very well in yesterday's test,' Agatha said.

'Of course, you did very well,' he replied. 'You got excellent marks.'

She smiled and nodded. 'Thank you, doctor. I know I can count on you.'

'Sure. As long as you remain in my good book.'

The truth was Joe had not even marked the test scripts. But he knew that anytime he marked them, she would be given excellent marks. That was the norm, according to Doctor Joe Sabada.

More minutes later Agatha left his office and returned to her hostel room. It was Friday afternoon and she was preparing to go to her uncle's place at Ogba-Ijaiye to spend the weekend.

She was putting some clothes and personal effects into her valise when Anfani, her roommate came in.

'Don't tell me you're planning to spend the weekend in town again,' Anfani said.

'That's what I'm planning to do. I don't want another dull and drab weekend.'

Anfani nodded. 'You're right. Nobody wants a drab weekend. So, where you're going, are you sure it won't be drab and dull?'

Agatha chuckled. 'No matter how dull my uncle's place is, it will be more exciting than staying here.'

He would have to go with the car. That was his most valuable asset. He packed his things inside the boot and drove out of the housey.

For safety purpose, he decided to drive to Ikorodu Round About where he would get a new sim card.
As he drove towards Ikorodu Round About, his phone rang and he quickly checked the caller.

It was from Guba. He must be calling to know if he was alive or dead. Sam contemplated if he should answer or ignore the call. On an impulse, he decided to pick it but would not say anything.

'Hello, Sam, is that you?' Guba asked. There was no response. 'Sam, are you there? Sam ...?'

Sam allowed him to ramble on until he, Guba, cut the line. With a friend like Guba, Sam thought grimly, you didn't need an enemy.

Guba was confused. Who answered Sam's call? Was it Sam himself, or another person? If it was another person, why didn't the person say anything?

He called the number again, but this time around it rang on and on without response. He needed to know if Sam had died. Chief had told him that the powder stuff he was given was a very powerful one, although it had a delayed reaction.

He had carefully mixed it with the suya meats. Not only that, right in his presence, Sam had eaten some of the pieces of meat. Surely, he must be dead by now or he must be knocking at the gate of hell.

Then, Guba's heart beat faltered. What if Sam had not died? What if Sam had a grueling experience, but survived? That would mean that he, Guba, had failed. He shook his head. The chief must not hear that he had failed, and he must not fail.

Some beads of sweat dotted his brow. He had no doubt that chief Kashi would not take it kindly with him if he did not succeed.

About fifteen minutes later, when he called Sam's number again, the service provider informed that the line was switched off. Damn! He would have to wait to know the exact outcome of event.

Sam gave his fingers for the bio metric data to be captured. He got the new sim card, removed the other ones and slotted the new card into his phone. He left the place and drove long to Ota.

He had an old friend there who worked in a pharmaceutical company. He had decided he would stay there for a couple of days while he decided on what next to do.

He would call Bisi later to tell her not to worry about him; that all was well as he only got an urgent call from his father in his home town at Ado-Ekiti.

Sam would tell her that the old man had called that he wanted to see him, and that was why he had to travel. But he would not tell her the exact place he was and the exact truth. He did not trust her to that extent. He did not trust anyone anymore.

* * *

A couple of hours later, Chief Kashi called Sam's number. He wanted to know if he would answer the call or not. He could not get through as all his lines were switched off.

It was already minutes past ten in the morning and Sam had not come to work. It was unusual of Sam not to come to work and not be reachable on the phone.

Could it be that he had resumed at his residence?
He called his wife. 'Hello, dear. By any chance, did Sam come to resume over there?'

'No,' she replied, a little bit too fast. She would never tell him she spoke with Sam early that morning.

'Good.' He smiled.

That meant Sam had been dealt. No man would sleep with his wife and live to tell the story. It was true he had encouraged Sam to have affairs with his wife, but it would be too risky to allow the young man to live.

He could still turn around to come and lay claim to his child. Then, how would chief still relate cordially with Sam, knowing that he had carnal knowledge of his wife? Kashi was convinced that his decision to eliminate him was the best way out.

Many hours later, after he closed from work, Chief Kashi decided to pay unscheduled visit to his Igbogbo house, where Sam resided.

It would look like he had come on a routine visit but the fact was he had come to see things for himself concerning Sam.

The man nodded. 'Alright, Sergeant.'

Momoh turned to Joe. 'Oga, leave us to continue the work from here. You can be calling my number to be updated on the matter. Don't worry, we'll get her arrested and the law will take its course.'

Joe nodded. 'You really must get her arrested. There's no way a lady will treat me so dishonorably and go scot-free. That Wendy must rot in jail!'

'We'll do our best,' the other officer, who had been taciturn, said.

Joe nodded. 'Yes. I want your very best.'

* * *

Eddie had a busy day in the office and in the court. It was almost four o'clock before he had a respite. Right in his office, he changed from his law gown to t-shirt.

He intended to move from the office to Amorisia Store at Ikeja. Slowly, he drove to the place as the traffic was already building up.

Linda personally attended to him. She showed round the different products that Amorisia offered for sale. Eddie was impressed by what he saw.

He never imagined that some of those products were offered for sale right here in Nigeria.

He pointed at a black curvy-haired doll that looked very appealing to him.

'How much does this cost?' he asked.

'N700,000.'

He nodded as he did not expect anything less. He made money transfer right there and she got the bank text alert. He was given the manual which covered the usage and the maintenance.

'Do not hesitate to give us a call if and when the need arises.'

The collapsible doll was put in a case and that looked more like a suitcase. That was it. He had a sex partner he would not take to dinner or buy exotic items for; but the one he could have unfettered sexual access to. In his mind, he thought of a name to call her.

Several names came to his mind but he finally settled for Dolly.

Yes, that seemed appropriate enough. He put the case of Dolly in his car and drove home. He decided he would have to leave Dolly in the booth of the car until his children had slept.

He didn't want anybody to know about her; she must forever be his secret love.

It was almost mid-night when he had the chance to bring Dolly to his apartment and to his bedroom.

The children had just gone to bed. He locked the bedroom door and brought her out. He was not in a hurry to sleep with her as he took his time in reading the manual and examining the humanoid toy.

He grinned to himself when he read that Dolly could moan when in the act. Good, I would see how good she was in doing that, he thought gleefully.

Minutes later, Eddie went into action with Dolly.

The line had already been cut off. He called the number back, but it never went through. Damn! Now, what could he make of this puzzle? Some hours ago, Guba tried to kill him by poisoning him.

Just now, the wife of his boss called to warn that he should go away from his residence and his working place. Everything pointed to the fact that his boss and employer was the one plotting to eliminate him.

But why? Why would Chief Kashi want to get rid of him? He thought he was the boss' confidant and most reliable aide. He had even been trying to father a child for him and he, Sam, had been promised something as a reward for the effort. Was this the reward? Was this the reward for helping a man to be a man?

Bisi returned from the kitchen with a tray containing a bowl of custard, a packet of cubes of sugar and a tin of evaporated milk. Sam smiled at her and behaved as if all was well. Of course, he remembered that Bisi was a relative of the chief. He must be careful about how much he told her.

She added sugar and milk to the custard and stirred. His mind was suddenly alarmed. Just like Guba, what was the guarantee that Bisi was not secretly working for the chief? What was the guarantee that there was no poison in the custard?

'Take your food on time,' she said. 'I'll soon be going to work. I earlier called to inform them that I would be coming to work quite late. Now, I'm on my way. Take your food and your drugs. I'll advise that you call your office and tell them that you'll be resting at home today as a result of what happened.'

Sam managed to smile. 'I really appreciate what you have, dear. You're an angel.'

She beamed in smiles. 'We thank God. I'm on my way. See you.'

'Yes, see you in the afternoon.'

'Thanks. Bye.'

She left the apartment. He could hear her footsteps as she moved to the gate of the house and out of the compound. Sam sighed and stared at the custard as if that would make him see if indeed poison substance was inside. He shook his head.

Yes, Bisi had aided him to the clinic last night, but he could not just trust himself to taking this food. Had he not thought Guba genuinely offered him the meats and the drinks?

Going by the warning he had received, he should not waste minutes further in that apartment.

He must go far away from Chief Kashi before the man would realize he was alive and he would send goons to come and assassinate him.

He stood up swiftly and went to the bedroom to pack some clothes in a leather bag. He thought of all the essential things he needed. He took the wallet
containing his international passport, driving license, id card, ATM card, and also took some other vital things.

He would have to go with the car. That was his most valuable asset. He packed his things inside the boot and drove out of the house. For safety purpose, he decided to drive to Ikorodu Round About where he would get a new sim card.

That was the task Chief Kashi had given him. Guba shrugged and collected the money and the substance. No one needed to tell him that it was poison.

'The substance will not work immediately,' the chief had said further. 'But within thirty minutes to one hour, the effects will manifest.'

Sam was his good pally, but in a matter like this, friendship would play a minor role. He had a task to carry out. He had been paid for the task, and it must be done.

Now, after the deed had been done, he started feeling remorseful. He hoped Sam would leave the joint before the poison would have effects. Even if he was still there, was there a way somebody would link him with him? Had he not left the place before the 'thing' happened?

To suppress his worries, he brought a dose of some drugs and took them. Within minutes, he had no worries. He even felt very excited. Let Sam go to hell and rot there.

* * *

The person that was really worried about Sam was Madam Kashi. That evening, she had a heart-to-heart talk with her husband late in the night when he returned from work.

'You're not to communicate with Sam or have anything to do with him again,' Chief Kashi said. 'You're not even to call his line. He has completed his task, and as far as I'm concerned, his usefulness is over.'

She nodded. 'But what exactly are you planning to do with him? Do you want to lay him off or what?'

He chuckled. 'You don't worry about him. He will be taken care of. We don't want any loophole, so he really must be taken care of.'

Her heart skipped a beat. Though she had no concrete evidence, she believed and knew that her husband was capable of carrying out terrible deed. She wondered how he wanted to deal with Sam.

The coition factor apart, she was beginning to like Sam. She however knew better than to show such affection. Somehow, she felt she had to protect Sam, but how? Besides, she must be careful. Her husband must not suspect that she had developed some affection for him.

* * *

It was the voice of Bisi that woke Sam up the following morning. She was talking to a nurse when he was aroused from sleep.

'Good morning, dear, how're you?' Bisi had been using endearments for him since Jenni eased out of his life.

Of course, Bisi was glad about the whole development.

Sam looked at her and smiled wanly. 'Good morning,'
he replied. 'Thanks for everything.'

Indeed, he had reason to thank her.

'How're you this morning,' the nurse greeted.

'Fine.'

Some minutes later, the doctor came to examine him.

'Lucky you,' he said. 'You've just survived poison in food. Thank your star you were brought here on time. You could have died.'

Sam nodded. His mind was troubled over one thing: why would Guba want him dead?

He was convinced beyond any doubt that the suya meats Guba gave him the previous night were spiced with poison. But why would Guba, his supposed associate and friend, want to kill him? What could be his offence?

'You will soon be discharged,' the doctor said. 'But continue to take your drugs for the next four days. Meanwhile, be careful about what you eat or drink. Always eat and drink from reliable source.'

Sam nodded. The doctor was right. Bisi remained with him until he was given his bill and discharged. He still had his wallet and phones in his pocket, although the phones were switched off. He upset the medical expenses and with Bisi, his new heartthrob, left the clinic.

When he got home, he switched the phones on. Bisi went to the kitchen to prepare custard for him. Even as he switched on the phone, he was unsure of what to do. He was still in this state of dilly dally when his phone rang. It was an unknown number, but he quickly picked it up.

'Hello?'

'Hello, is that you Sam?'

He instantly recognized the voice. It was Madam Dupe Kashi's own.

'Listen, Sam,’ she said quickly. ‘Don't ask any question and don't ever reveal to anybody that I called to warn you. God knows I'm doing this to satisfy my conscience.

Your life is in danger; a serious danger. I will advise you to slip away. Yes, for now, just go far away from your residence and place of work. Just do as I said.'

'But I don't understand,' he said. 'Who wants to kill me? Why? What was my offence? Why ...?'

Once they were on the road, she told him she had to return to her parents' home.

'What? Mama is still expecting you.'

'I don't like this prank we're playing. I'm going. Good night.'

He was reluctant to say goodnight, but he had no choice. Mama had really truncated his desire of sleeping with Clara that evening. But Manu would wait. There would be another time.

* * *

The following morning, Joe was at the branch of the bank where he had opened a current and savings account on the campus. He told them he was robbed at gun point and had lost his valuables including this phones and ATM card.

He also requested to know his account balance and was glad that his hard-earned money had not been touched. The bank promptly disabled all transactions on the ATM card.

That was his first step.

The next one would be to go to the service providers of the network he used so that he could block those sims and recover the lines. He decided that could wait until noon.

It was his eagerness to go to the police station, report the previous night incident and take some policemen to arrest Wendy. When he did that, he met only the shop owner at work.

'Good morning,' Joe, flanked on either side by two plain-clothed policemen, greeted him.

'Good morning, sir. Do you want to type documents or to make photocopies?'

'None. Where's your assistant?' Joe asked heatedly.

'You mean Wendy? I've not seen her this morning, and I wonder why she hasn't come.'

The policeman to Joe's right brought out his i.d card from his breast pocket. 'I'm detective Sergeant Momoh, with my colleague here.' He pointed at the other man., who nodded.

'That your assistant has committed a serious crime and we're here to arrest her,' Momoh continued.

'A crime? Wendy committed a crime?'

'Yes,' Joe said. 'That thieving bitch drugged me and stole everything in my possession.'

'What?' The man looked genuinely surprised. 'Wendy did that?'

'Yes,' Sergeant Momoh put in. 'So, you need to cooperate with us. Where does she live?'

'Hold on.' The man opened his drawer and brought out two stapled papers that looked like a C.V.

It belonged to Wendy. He handed it to Momoh. 'That's her address and other contact. You can have it.'

'Thank you.' Momoh brought out a complimentary card from the same pocket he had brought the i.d. Card.

'Here, give me a call the moment she pops up here.'

She needed no direction to the toilet. When she was out of earshot, Clara turned to glare at him.

'What's all this about?' she demanded.

'Mama has been pestering me to bring a wife home,' he replied in a voice scarcely above whispers.

'But you should have told her who I am. You should have made her know I'm not who she thinks I am.'

He shook his head. 'See, since she has presumed you're the one, let's just play along. In fact, let me tell you that it will save me from a lot of hassles from her. So, please, let's play along.'

'But, ... ' she wanted to protest. She stopped as mama was back in the sitting-room.

'O ya, o ya,' mama said. 'Let my daughter-in-law go to the kitchen and prepare nice dinner for us.'

Clara glanced at him. He smiled and winked back at her. He took her to the kitchen, but there was a big snag.

'I'm not good in cooking,' she blurted out.

'What?!'

'I don't cook in my house. It's either the house girl does it or my mum.'

He looked worried. 'This is serious. Mama will not like it if she hears that you can't cook.'

'Tell her the truth. Tell her I'm not your fiancée but your student.'

He shook his head vehemently. 'No. Let's not spoil the show.' He suddenly smiled as an idea came to him.

'You know what? I will tell her the cooking gas has finished. Then, we'll go out to buy food not far away. Mama likes fufu and egusi soup. It won't be difficult to get that.'

Clara felt relieved. 'Okay.'

He took two food flasks, put them in a nylon bag and went back to the sitting-room.

Mama was in the second bed-room where he had put her bag and where she would be sleeping.

'Mama, sorry, the cooking gas has just finished. Let us go out and buy the food for you.'

'Oh.' Mama looked disappointed. 'Just when I thought my daughter would be cooking delicious food to welcome me to Lagos.'

'Don't worry, ma. That will be another time.'

Clara took her handbag as she stepped out of the flat with Manu.

Once they were on the road, she told him she had to return to her parents' home.

He finished his first bottle and decided he would take no more. The sales girl approached with a tray of another bottle, but he shook his head.

'I've had enough for today. That will be some other time.'

'But he had paid for your drinks,' the girl said.

'Yes, I know. Keep the change.'

He left the place, went to the nearest bus stop and took a bus going to Ikorodu. It was when they were close to Ogolonto that the first pang of stomach ache came.

By the time he got down in his area, the ache had become severe. He moved with difficulty to his flat and was searching for the door key when Bisi came.

'Good evening, love.'

He turned slowly around. 'Good evening.'

Her countenance instantly changed. 'What happened?'

'I have stomach ache,' he said, wincing in pain.

'My God, you look terrible.'

'I think it's something I ate,' he said. His mind screamed at him that it was the suya.

He still had the remaining ones wrapped in nylon. Damn!

'Is that so? Wait, one minute.' She dashed inside her apartment and soon re-emerged with a small bottle of palm oil.

She opened the lid, scooped some in the lid and put it to his mouth. Thrice, her hand made the trip to his mouth while he sucked the oil.

'Give me a moment.' She quickly went inside her apartment again, emerged with her purse and locked the door.

'I know of a good hospital around here. Let's go.'

She had to support him as they walked to the hospital, for the ache had become unbearable. He was quickly admitted and was lucky the doctor was around.

The prompt intervention of Bisi prevented what would have been a premeditated murder.

When Guba left Sam, he became very restive. Of course, he had lied about having a cause to celebrate and making big profit from selling a car.

It was true he had made two hundred thousand naira, but it had nothing to do with sale of a car.

Earlier in the day, Chief Kashi had summoned him to his Ketu office that he had a big task for him. When he had met the chief, he had given him two hundred thousand naira and a powder like substance.

'Lure Sam to a place or invite him somewhere. Lace his food or drinks with the substance,' the chief had said.
'Sam? The same Sam?' Guba could not believe his ears.

'Yes, Sam. The same Sam. He has committed a very grievous offence and he had to be eliminated. That is your task. You must execute it well without hitches.'

Rather than taking Clara to a hotel, Manu decided to take her to his house. She had decided to yield to his demand with the hope that he would fulfill his own part of the bargain. It was the second time he would be bringing her home. He took her in his old Mazda car. It was a car he had hoped to replace but he could not effect the replacement so far. He lived in a two-bedroom flat at Ogba-Ijaiye. Within minutes, he was parking at the compound.

There was a shocker awaiting him: mama was sitting on a traveling bag right at the front door of his flat.

He looked at the woman closely. There was no mistake. The woman was his mother.

'Mama!' he said in surprise. 'You're around? Why didn't you tell me you were coming to Lagos?'

'Manu, my son,' the woman said, coming to hug him.

'You should have told me you were coming to Lagos,' he said. 'It's not good that you were kept waiting for me like this.'

'I wanted to give you a surprise visit,' she said. 'After all, I didn't need to seek approval from my son before I visit him.'

Manu shook his head. Sometimes, he could simply not understand his mother.

'And who is the lady with you?' mama asked, turning her stare to Clara. The latter had been bemused by the scene and had not uttered a word
since she got down from the car.

Manu grinned. 'Er, mama, this is Clara and ...'

'This must be your wife-to-to-be,' mama interrupted. 'Ah, God be praised that my son has finally got a young pretty lady as his wife-to-be and
very soon will be his wife. My daughter, how're you?'

Clara was aghast. Wife-to-be? No, no. This woman was making a big mistake.

'I'm just his ... ' Clara was saying, but mama interrupted again.

'I know. I know you're just his fiancé. But I trust God. I trust that as long as the almighty God is alive, very soon - very, very soon - the two of
you will be wedded before my own eyes. I also trust that your child, my grandchild, is on his way.'

Clara was confounded. Before she could say anything further, Manu spoke: 'Why don't we all go inside? Outside is not the best place to say
important things like this.' He brought out a bunch of keys from his pocket and opened the door.

He helped mama to carry her bag inside.

'Let me quickly go to the toilet,' mama said. 'I've been pressed for some time now.'

She needed no direction to the toilet. When she was out of earshot, Clara turned to glare at him.

'What's all this about?' she demanded.

'Mama has been pestering me to bring a wife home,' he replied in a voice scarcely above whispers.

He tried to remember what happened before he came to this present state. Of course, he had a date with a lady. Now, what was her name again? Wendy! He was supposed to meet with her. He had actually met with her and they were in the room together. He was having a jolly time with her, or so he had thought.

Then ... then... He had slept off! What kind of sleep was that?

'Where is she?' he demanded.

'Who?' the manager asked.

'Where's the lady I brought here? Where's Wendy?'

The Manager shook his head. 'I last saw her with you.'

Joe decided to check what time of the night it was and that was when it dawned on her that his wrist watch was missing. He quickly checked his pockets.

'Oh my God!' He stood up in agitation. 'My watch, wallet, money and phones are missing!'

The other men looked at one another in perplexity.

'I must have been drugged,' Joe went on. 'That lady must have drugged me! She has disappeared with my money and other valuables.'

'Calm down, sir,' Jimi said. 'I think we should lodge a complaint at the police station concerning this bad incident Nothing like this has never
happened in this hotel, and we will not let this lie low. Sir, you know the house of the lady, right?'

What a question! Of course he, Joe, did not know where Wendy lived, but he knew where she worked.

'I know where she works. Tomorrow morning, I'm getting her arrested. I'll make sure she rots in jail! She looked so innocent I couldn't imagine she would do this to me.'

He felt his pockets again. 'Damn! That girl stripped me of the least to the highest valuable. Such a rogue and a thief!'

He yawned.

'But, are you okay, sir?' Jimi asked in concern. Joe was a valuable customer they could not afford to lose.

'I'll be okay,' Joe replied.

He wore his shoes and looked about the room as if by magic, his missing items would be seen. This was not to be.

'Let me be going now,' he told them. 'If by any chance you sight her, detain her and call me immediately,' he told the manager.

Just then, he remembered that his phones had been stolen. He would have to retrieve his sim cards and lines. It would be unfortunate if this was the last time he would be seeing his expensive i-phone and the smart phone. He also had some substantial cash in his wallet.

Then, his heart beat fast. His ATM card was also there! He must go to the bank the following morning to block the account! How he wished he could lay his hands on that Wendy.

'Yeah. I’m there right now. Let us meet there. Everything that you drink will be on my account.'

'Really? For sure, I will be there.'

'Okay, I’ll be expecting you.'

'Yeah. See you.'

Sam whistled to himself as he cut the line. Guba must indeed be in a celebration for him to offer to pay for his drinks. For all the times they had
been to the joint together, he - Sam - was the one paying for drinks and pepper soup. Well, it was good that something different was about to happen.

Darkness was fast approaching by the time Sam got to the joint.

'Over here!' Guba called as soon as Sam stepped inside the bar hall. Sam grinned and moved over to him.

'You're welcome. Sit down and join me in the jolly-jolly,' Guba said.

Sam shook hands with him. Apart from a big bottle of stout, Guba also had a plate containing pieces of suya meat in his front. He appeared to be
chewing some meats in his mouth.

'I can see that you're enjoying yourself very well,' Sam said.

'Yes o. I'm happy. In fact, you can have the whole suya to yourself.' He pushed the plate containing the suya meats to Sam's side of the table.

'Eat to your fill. I'll order for more.'

'Guba Guba. Tell me, what are you celebrating?'

Guba smiled expansively. 'My brother, I'm celebrating the fact that a customer asked me to sell a car for him. The deal was a success and I made
over two hundred thousand naira from it. Just one deal!'

'Amazing.' Sam took a good chunk from the suya and ate it. 'The suya has excellent taste.'

'Of course. I always go for the best. O ya, order for the beer you want.'

Sam gave the order. The two friends drank, ate and chatted for several minutes. After about twenty minutes, Guba suddenly looked anxious.

'Oh God, I'm sorry, I have to leave. It's like I forget the nylon bag I kept my money inside the boot of the Honda car I was working on in my
workshop. I have to go to the workshop to retrieve it.'

'You forgot money in the boot of a car?' Sam asked incredibly.

'Yes. Silly me.' He stood up and beckoned at the sales girl. 'Here, take this.' He handed some money to her. 'Give my friend more drinks. That
money should take care of all expenses.'

He smiled at Sam. 'Let me hurry back to the workshop before anything happens to the money. Don't worry; tomorrow we'll continue the
celebration.'

'Guba, the Guba!' Sam hailed. They shook hands again and Guba left. Sam settled down with his drinks. On an impulse, he decided to wrap the
suya and take it home. Why was it that he was having a feeling that something was not right? First, he was having that feeling when he was
with Madam Kashi. As Guba departed, he was having that feeling again.

He finished his first bottle and decided he would take no more. The sales girl approached with a tray of another bottle, but he shook his head.

The manager knocked on the door but no response was forthcoming. He knocked harder, but still no response. That was a surprise. Joe had always tipped him whenever he was going. Today, he had not seen him go. Besides, why was there no response to the knocks? And what about the lady that he had brought?

Jimi, the manager, could not remember seeing any lady step out of that room. So, what was happening? He went back to his small office and brought a bunch of keys out. He quickly went through them. Satisfied that the one he needed was among the lot, he went back to the room, unlocked it and opened it. Joe was still lying on the bed and dreaming of only-God-knows-what.

'Oga Joe!' Jimi exclaimed. 'So, you're inside. What happened?'

There was no response from the man on the bed. In panic, Jimi quickly moved to the bedside to observe him. He was still breathing, which was a
relief, but he seemed to be in a slumber.

Jimi tapped him on the shoulder to rouse him, but he was in another world. He went to call the attention of his assistant to what was happening.

The latter too tried to rouse Joe, but it was futile.

'What do we do?' the assistant manager asked.

'We have to get him to the hospital,' the manager replied. 'Go and arrange for a cab!'

The assistant manager dashed out. A couple of minutes later, he was back.

'I've stopped a taxi,' he said quite breathless.

'Good, no time to waste. Get Ade so that we can carry him.'

Ade was fetched in a jiffy. The three men were trying to lift Joe off the bed when he opened his eyes and stared at them dreamily.

'Oga Joe!' the manager exclaimed. Then he asked rather stupidly: 'Have you woken up?'

They put him back on the bed.

'Ah, thank God,' the assistant manager said. 'Thank God that you have woken up.'

Joe cleared his eyes. Everything, so far, looked like he was having a bad dream.

'What's happening?' he asked.

'When you were supposed to come out of the room and we didn't see you, we had to open the door with spare key, and we found you lying on
the bed, almost unconscious.'

'What?!'

He tried to remember what happened before he came to this present state. Of course, he had a date with a lady. Now, what was her name

'Hello. Good evening. Is that Amorisia store?'

'Yes. Good evening,' a female voice answered him. 'How can I help you?'

'I just visited your website, now. I understand your company imports and sells sex dolls.'

'Yes, that is true,' came the prompt answer. 'We also sell different intimacy gadgets and sexy wears.'

He sighed. 'I'm only interested in the dolls. Like how much is one?'

'It depends on what you want. We have varieties of them. You need to visit our store to see their catalogues and samples of the dolls.'

He nodded. 'Aright. I'll do that tomorrow. Who am I speaking with?'

'The name is Linda. I'm the Manager.'

'Alright, see you tomorrow, Linda.'

Eddie grinned to himself as he cut the line. Tomorrow, unfailingly, he must visit that shop.

Wendy watched in satisfaction as the man she had come to meet became limp on the bed in sleep. She smiled to herself. She had heard a lot from the students about what a philanderer the man was. Now, it was payback time. She had decided to prey on him, just as she had done to several other randy men.

She jumped to her feet as there was no time to waste. Just look at the yeye man who, moments ago, was gladly running his tongue all over her boobs!. What he didn't know was that she had coated her organ with a powerful sleeping drug which she had powdered. He would be asleep for a couple of hours. She put her boobs back in the cups of her bra and fastened the bra. She then wore her top.

He had not removed his clothes. She quickly searched through her pockets. She found his wallet, some currencies and two phones. She put these in her handbag and searched to see if there was any other valuable on him. Apart from his car key and a bunch of keys, there was nothing else.

Silly and stupid, randy man, she thought again. Then, she checked the wrist watch he was wearing. It was a Seiko gold-plated watch. Quickly, she removed it. Without further ado, she left the room, locked the door and, in a very cool manner, walked out of the hotel.

No one seemed to show any interest in her as she walked away.

It was about two hours later when the manager of the place decided to check on the occupant of the room. Joe Sabada, their regular customer, had booked the place for two hours and his tenancy had expired.

The manager knocked on the door but no response was forthcoming. He knocked harder, but still no response. That was a surprise. Joe had always tipped him whenever he was going.

She was still all smiles as she left the doctor's consulting room. She went to the parking space where Sam had parked the car and was waiting.

She however had no plan to share the news with him. It was when she got to the confines of her small office at the Opebi shop that she put a
call to her husband to inform him.

'The doctor has confirmed the pregnancy test I did to be positive,' she informed. 'I'm six weeks pregnant.'

'Oh, that's great news. Thank God that we've finally got our desire.'

'Yes, we thank God.'

There was a slight pause. 'That means I will have to withdraw his service as your driver.'

She knew what he meant. 'Yes.'

There was another slight pause. 'Don't worry. I'll handle everything from my end.'

'Okay.'

Chief Kashi disconnected the line, grinning to himself. It was a successful venture. He picked up his phone and put a call across to one of his
henchmen, Guba.

'Thanks for the day,' Madam Kashi said as she collected the car keys from Sam.

'Good night, ma'am.' Despite the secret intimacy between them, he was still very respectful.

She nodded. Sam walked to the gate of the magnificent building, bided the security man good night and passed through the gate. He was still
walking towards the main gate of the estate when his phone rang. It was Guba calling him.

'Oh boy, na wa o,' Guba said as a way of greeting. 'Long time no see.'

'Guba, how you dey?'

'I thank God o. I’m fine.'

'Sorry I didn't call you all this while,' Sam said. 'It's because no special task yet.'

Guba laughed shortly. 'I understand, now. I trust you that once there’s job, you will call me.'

'Yeah. That's right.'

'Oh boy, I dey celebration mood o. Why don't we meet at that our joint at Ketu? The one that is close to Ile-ile bus stop.'

'Oh, that will be marvelous.'

'Yeah. I’m there right now. Let us meet there. Everything that you drink will be on my account.'

Four weeks after he had recovered from his ailment, Guba was full of life. At his mechanic workshop, he really must face the streams of mechanical work that were coming his way. He had not heard from Sam for some time and neither had any special assignment come from him. He was however getting good and steady income from his workshop.

A Honda car was driven inside the workshop. A woman neatly dressed in office wears came down. Guba quickly left the vehicle he was working on
to attend to her.

'Good morning, madam.'

'Yeah, good morning. My gear box has a problem and you should fix it.'

Guba nodded. 'Is that all.'

'Yeah, I think that's all.'

He nodded. 'That is no problem, madam.'

The woman had brought her car around before, but she was not a regular customer.

'I'm going to work. By evening, I'll be back. Do the work well, please.'

'No problem. Your car will be in perfect condition by the time you come back.'

She handed the car key to him and was off. In his mind, he decided he would bill her high and get the best from the deal. Though Guba's charges
were always high, he was good in his job and always gave customers satisfaction.

Towards noon, he received a call from his mother at Shaare.

'Your wife has just delivered a bouncing baby,' she informed.

'Ah, praise be to Allah,' he exclaimed. 'Alhamudulilai.'

'Both mother and baby are in good health.'

'Praise be to God. Boy or girl?'

'A girl.'

It was the second girl he was having. He wished he could have a boy now, but shrugged. This must be Allah's wish.

'Alhamudulilahi,' he repeated.

Seven weeks after her affairs with Sam, Madam Kashi went to consult with the family doctor in a private hospital at Ikeja.

'Congratulations, madam,' Doctor Bright said, as he handed the medical results to her. 'You're six weeks pregnant.'

She got the report from him and briefly read through. 'Ah, that's good,' she said, smiling.

The doctor nodded. 'Indeed, it is good news. Finally, Ayomide will be having a younger one.'

'Yes, o.'

She was indeed glad about the news.

'I'm sure, chief will be highly delighted about the development.'

She nodded. 'He will be. That's the thing I will call to inform him about as soon as I leave here.'

'Yes.'

He nodded and ordered for the food. She took the food slowly as if she had all the time in the world. Though he was eager to have his way with her, he didn't rush her. After what looked like ages, she finished her eating. Joe would start with her the way he normally started with ladies, which was the handling of the boobs.

From there, he proceeded to the second stage which was teasing and sucking the boobs. Wendy encouraged him on. In fact, she made sure he did the sucking more than he had probably done before.

Moments later, something odd happened to Joe. He could simply not proceed to the next stage. This very last action brought the kind of grogginess he had never felt before. He lay on the bed, Wendy's right nipple still in his mouth. Like a baby sucking at the breast of his mother, Joe Sabada slept off.

Right after his dinner, Eddie returned to his bedroom. In the comfort and privacy of the room, he brought out his lap-top computer and went on-line. He had decided that he must learn about sex dolls and would probably use the service. Google availed him as much information on the sex object as he desired. There were various pictures of the objects and there was a particular one that caught his attention. The sex doll, made of

Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) material had B-cup boobs.

It stood at 5 feet 2 inches tall (156 cm). The manufacturer asserted that with the doll, vaginal, anal and MouthAction was possible. It had steel skeleton with movable joints and weighed 95 lbs (43 kg). He also gleefully read the other details of the doll which included the fact that it had 31.5 inches at the bust, waist size of 25 inches and hips size of 43 inches.

The manufacturing company also promised free international discreet packaging, two weeks of processing time and one week for shipping, making a total of 3 weeks delivery time. The cost was over 2,000 US dollars. Eddie mentally calculated that in naira. Even if he could make the payment and do the order that very moment, he would still have to wait for about three weeks to get it.

On impulse, he decided to check if there could be a shop here in Nigeria that sold the dolls. His on-line search yielded fruit. One Amorisia Stores at Ikeja sold the items. The mobile telephone contact numbers were there on the website. He called the first number.

He didn't like the fact that she came quite late for the appointment. She was supposed to meet him by seven o'clock.

Ten minutes after seven, he was still waiting. When it was quarter past the hour, he put a call across to her.

'Wendy, where're you?' he demanded.

'Sorry, I'm on my way. I'll soon be there.'

'I'm waiting.'

She was lucky she was not his student. If she were to be, he knew how he would deal with her. It still took another fifteen minutes before she
finally came.

'I'm so sorry,' she apologized. 'My boss did not allow me to close on time.'

He sighed and managed a grin. 'The good thing is you're here now.'

'Yes, sorry about the delay.'

He tried to wave it off. 'It's alright. I've already booked a room. Let's go there.' He quickly finished the remaining drinks in his glass cup. They
went to the room he had booked, which happened to be the same room where he had bedded many young ladies.

'Can I get something to eat?' she asked. 'I'm famished.'

He smiled at her and nodded. 'Don't worry. I'll order for room service.'

As soon as they settled down in the room, he grinned and turned to her.

'What food will you have?'

'Fried rice and chicken,' her answer came promptly.

He nodded and ordered for the food. She took the food slowly as if she had all the time in the world. Though he was eager to have his way with

But something at the back of his mind told him that things were not all right. Now, as it was, his task was to get the woman pregnant. After that, what? The woman said he would be adequately rewarded. How would she do that? He should his head. It was an unusual thing they had asked him to do and somehow he felt something was wrong.

Three days later, Jenni still had not come to visit him. She also refused to call. When he called her, her phone rang on and on. What was happening? Was everything alright with her? Was she still 'thinking about life?'

He continued to call her line until she finally picked her call.

'Baby, what's happening?' he asked. 'I hope you're okay.'

'I'm okay.'

'So, why didn't you pick my call? And why didn't you come around?'

'Our relationship is over, Sam,' she blurted out. 'Bye.'

She cut the line. He was astonished. What was she talking about? What had come over dear Jenni? He called her line again, but she did not pick
it. Wait a minute, was Jenni really saying it was all over between them? Did she really mean it?

When she refused to pick her call, he decided to send a text message to her. Baby, tell me you're joking, he wrote. He also sent a WhatsApp
message to her. She did not reply any of the messages. He became angry. If she thought he would go to her and beg on his knees, then she was
making a big mistake. Sam would beg no lady, no matter how beautiful she might be. Didn't he have ladies at his beck and call? What arrogance
was Jenni now displaying? Nonsense!

He grinned and nodded at her. 'That will be no problem. Tell him I will get it for you tomorrow.' He turned to the second child. 'Nnena, how was JAMB lesson today?'

'Fine, dad.'

He tried to be as caring as possible to his children. He soon retired to his room. He wasn't still sure if he would go out or not. He was still
deliberating when a knock sounded on his bedroom door.

'Yes, come in.'

The door was opened. It was Mary, the house-girl.

'Oga, food don ready,' she announced.

He nodded. 'Okay. I'll soon be coming over to the dining table.'

She retreated from his room, gently closing the door. Why not use her to satisfy yourself sexually? A part of his mind asked. What! A house girl!
She couldn't be more than sixteen, so technically, she was still a minor. As a lawyer, he knew the implication. No, another part of his mind said.
He would not bring himself down so low to do such a thing. He went out of the bedroom to the side of the living-room where the dining-table was. His children were already there, eating.

He ate from his plate slowly, thinking about many things. Then, his mind dwelt on an issue and he smiled to himself. Should he give it a trial? At
the initial stage, it seemed to be outlandish, but perhaps in the long run, it would pay off. He nodded to himself. After the meal, he would go on
the internet and make some findings.

Joe Sabada had another appointment with a lady at Lolita Hotel. This time around the lady he was to meet was not a student of the university where he worked. Wendy worked at Lagoon-View University as a business center sales attendant. Sometimes, the department photocopier machine would have fault that would necessitate Joe taking flash drive to print some documents at one of the business centers around. About a week ago, he had met Wendy at work. She was quite tall and chubby.

Standing at almost six feet, she was much taller than him. The lurid thought that came to his mind was to ask himself if tall girls were good in bed. He decided it would not be a bad idea if he should experiment with her. He had struck friendship with her and was able to get her number.

To soften her mind, he had sent N2,000 recharge pin number to her phone. Now, he had a date with her at the hotel.

He didn't like the fact that she came quite late for the appointment. She was supposed to meet him by seven o'clock. Ten minutes after seven, he was still waiting. When it was quarter past the hour, he put a call across to her.

Eddie was at the bar of the hotel when a lady that looked like the one he had seen on-line and had a date with approached. Her hair style was different from the one he had seen. This one was tinted in gold color. Her round face was the same girlish one. She hadn't lied in her profile about the size of her bust, from what he could see. She was in t-shirt and a tight-fitting jeans trousers. She looked pretty and confident.

Eddie smiled at her.

'Are you Dora?' he asked.

'Yes. Are you Eddie?'

He nodded and pointed at the chair closest to him.

'Have your seat, Dora.'

'Thank you.'

She sat down.

'What will you have?' he asked.

She shrugged. 'Anything.'

'Anything? Even beer?'

She smiled and nodded. Wow, so, she would not mind drinking beer! He ordered what he had ordered for himself for her.

The way she drank showed that she was no novice in it. After the drink, they went to the room he had booked. There, Dora did some tricks with him. They were tricks he would love to have again with her.

* * *

After the first time that Dora and Eddie had intimate time together, he discovered something about himself. His libido had increased tremendously. He now craved for sex more than ever.

Everyday, he must have the craving. Dora had been a good source of exploring his indulgence, but she was not always available for him. She had variety of clientele to serve and there was no way a man could pin her down.

Now, Eddie was spending a lot to satisfy his lustful whims, and he seemed to be enjoying doing so.

This evening, he called Dora again.

'Dora, how are you?'

'Fine. How're you too?'

'I'm sick and I need sexual healing.'

She chuckled. 'That's serious.'

'Yes. Very serious. Let's meet in our usual place tonight.'

'I'm sorry, that cannot be. I'm in Abuja, right now.'

'Phew!' he whistled to himself. What a miss! Yet, he must satisfy himself this evening. He didn't really fancy jumping from one sex worker to another, so the idea of running to meet another one did not really appeal to him. So, what would he do? Why can't you marry again? He asked himself.

Another part of his mind said: yes, you lost your wife sometimes ago, couldn't you take another woman?

Was that not more dignifying than these lustful games?

He got home few minutes to six o'clock. His children were all at home.

'How was school?' he asked them.

'Fine, daddy,' Josephine, the third child said.

'Daddy, our Maths teacher said I should buy a new Mathematical set,' Ruth, the last born said.

He was still deliberating when a knock sounded on his bedroom door.

By the following week, Guba was strong enough to return to work. He had many work waiting for him at the workshop and he had to do extra work to cope with it and to finish the work on time. But he decided to do things at his own pace. He would not be rushed, no matter the urgency the customer attached to the work.

He was working on a Mazda car when Bose, the bread seller came around. Guba found it difficult to believe that this pretty woman was the source of his illness.

How could it be that he contracted a strong ailment from a pretty woman as this? The whole thing was a mystery, from the ailment to the recovery.

'Oga Guba, good morning,' she greeted.

'Good morning, Bose. How're you?'

'Fine.'

He still bought a big loaf of bread from her, but he would henceforth limit the relationship with her. Bose lingered with him, probably hoping he would invite her to his home for another time out, but he did not.

Sam called Jenni.

'Hello, baby. You've not come around for days. Hope no problem,' he said.

'No problem.'

'So, why have I not been seeing you?'

'I need to think my life over.'

He laughed over the line. 'Jenni, dear, what are you thinking about your life?'

She was crossed that he found that funny, so she didn't say anything.

'Any way, how're you?'

'Fine.'

'Think fast and come around, baby. I'm missing you,' he urged.

He should have noticed that she was cool in her responses; that indeed, he was giving her the cold shoulders, but Sam in his nonchalant attitude didn't notice.

He sighed and grinned. That meant tonight he could have Bisi again. He had been having a jolly time with her since Jenni had stayed off. Bisi was wild about sex and he could not have wished to have a wilder partner.

But he knew what existed between them was that mutual desire to satisfy lust and that it would not go beyond that. He also hoped Bisi perfectly understood that. This evening, he had just parted from Madam Kashi after being holed in the hotel room with her for about two hours.

The woman was not a bad lay, and he always felt excited whenever he slept with her. She was his boss' wife and there was an inexplicable triumph anytime he slept with her. Besides, the woman was good in goading him on, moaning his name and jerking her body in pleasure.

Where Chief Kashi had failed to please his woman, he - Sam, an ordinary employee - had excelled. Already, he had slept with the woman for about four times. To him, that was an achievement.

But something at the back of his mind told him that things were not all right. Now, as it was, his task was to get the woman pregnant. After that, what?

The woman said he would be adequately rewarded. How would she do that?

He shook his head. It was an unusual thing they had asked him to do and somehow he felt something was wrong.

Lolita Hotel was just before the main gate of the university. Only jambite students would claim that they didn't know it.

Agatha nodded and wore her clothes back. She would have to keep that date. She indeed kept it. By quarter to seven p.m., she was at the lobby of the cozy hotel. By six thirty, Joe was already there. He has ordered for a bottle of beer to while away the time. Agatha looked uncertainly around the lobby/ bar when she stepped inside.

Joe quickly beckoned at her. She smiled and came to his table.

'Good evening, sir,' she greeted.

'Ah, my dear angel.' It was his usual way of referring to his ladies. 'Good evening. Sit down and join me.'

'Thank you, sir.'

He grinned at her as he studied her features. She had moderate height and stature. Her bust, from what he could see so far, was neither big nor small.

He imagined that her tits were firm. Now, that was one of the strange things he had discovered. Some of the students he had slept with, as young as they were, had flabby and out-of-shape boobs. In his mind, those girls were not only spoilt but rotten.

'What drinks do you want?' he asked.

She shook her head. 'I'll not have any, sir. Thank you.'

'Nothing? Not even mineral drinks?'

'Nothing, sir.'

He decided to let her be. It was not important that she must have drinks. What was important was that he would be 'making love' to her.

She took one of the seats opposite him.

'Yes, sir. It's about what you told me the other day. I've come to tell you that I've agreed.'

Sabada beamed in smiles. He stood from his chair and went to lock the office door.

'Before, you go further, you need to stand up and take a step back.'

It sounded quite odd, but she did as she was directed.

He examined her critically from head to toe.
'Okay, step forward.'

She moved forward.

'Open your handbag and bring all the contents out.'

The emptied the bag. Her two phones, books, other writing materials, a handkerchief, make-up kit and sundry things were brought out.

He scanned each item and ensured that the phones were not in audio or video recording mode. He seemed to be satisfied.

'Good. Are you sure you're ready to play ball?' he asked.

'Yes.'

He stared at her and nodded. 'I need a proof from you. And the proof is I want you to strip naked. Completely naked.' he coed.

Agathy was not surprised by what she was experiencing. From what some of her colleagues had told her, Dr. Joe Sabada was a man of intense passion and kinky sensuous demands.

Slowly, Agatha stripped. She felt embarrased to stand before him in nudity, but his smug look made her to shrug off non chalantly. The way he stared at her body showed that he was pleased with what he saw.

'Alright,' he said finally. 'Let's meet at Lolita Hotel this evening by seven o'clock. Then, I will fully explore the treasure island that I've seen.'

He thought briefly.

'There's this small hotel at Toyin Street, Ikeja. It is called Finicky Hotel. Let's meet there by six p.m today. Can you make it?'

There was a brief silence. 'That's no problem. Can you send your pix to this number? This is my WhatsApp number.'

'That will be no problem.'

'One more thing. I only deal in cash.'

He grinned and nodded. 'That'll be no problem.'

Dr. Sabada removed his black jacket and hanged it on the back rest of his swivel, leather chair. It was one of the rare days he would be wearing a jacket. He preferred casual wears. Joe Sabada was a lecturer at the English language department, Lagoon View University, Lagos. At forty, he was still considered young.

He was a brilliant scholar and teacher who could hold his audience spell-bound for hours. Many of his students at the under-graduate school held in awe.

Dr. Sabada however had one flaw: he could not resist anything in skirt. His beautiful wife, having become fed up with his philandering way of life, had called it quits with him. From seductive female students to bewitching sex workers, Joe could not simply hold himself back.

He sat on his chair and thought over some events of the day. So far, Agatha Laseko had told him she would be coming to see him in his office. She was a pretty student in level 300. Agatha had initially rebuffed his amorous advance. It took her a failure in the course he handled, for her to have a rethink.

Now, she said she would be coming over. Joe had spent well over an hour in the office before Agatha came around.

'Good afternoon, sir,' she greeted.

'Yeah.' He grinned at her. 'You're welcome. Sit down. You said you wanted to see me.'

She took one of the seats opposite him. 'Yes, sir. It's about what you told me the other day. I've come to tell you that I've agreed.'

'Among the two men,' Rhoda said. 'Who will you say is showing more commitment than the other?'

Jenni didn't have to think much. 'I'll say Mr. Babatunde.'

'Who is showing more keenness about marrying you?'

'Mr. Babatunde.'

'Then go for him.'

'Really?'

Rhoda gave a chuckle. 'You're asking me. Is it not obvious? Is it not better that between the one that is ready and the one that hasn't even
made up his mind, the one that is ready is better?'

Jenni got her aunt's logic. The woman was right. That very moment, Jenni decided that she would accede to Babatunde's proposition.

It was not that he had doubts before, but this latest episode removed any reservation about the fact that the medicine of the man was efficacious.

He had started getting better, although he still needed some rest. After he had fully recovered, he must not forget his vow to stay clear of married women. He had learnt his lesson.
