Technology Market / Why Exactly Do People Fall Into The Hands Of Wrong Solar Dealers/ Installers? by SolarConsultant: 11:34pm On Mar 30, 2021
Why?

Have you been scammed before or gotten a system that your so called inverter/solar dealer told you about, and the whole thing seemed too good to be through and after buying and Installing somethings just stopped working and wasn’t delivering as you expected,

You called and called your installer and they start to avoid your calls

A Nairalander called some few weeks ago amongst several other people concerning some batteries he bought from he’s so called installer and after then he noticed 1 stopped working barely a year, and I asked ok, how about the warranty; and the man was saying he doesn’t even know the shop they bought the equipment from

My question is why?

You are investing that much and yet you will buy with no warranty clearly stated; and why didn’t you detect the type of installer you go for, I think at least you should be able to tell if this person will be loyal or true to his/her service if any need arises

I think It’s more painful to make mistakes going solar with wrong hands

Please help somebody; share your experience and save someone from making a wrong decision again

Best Practices for Building Roof for Solar in Nigeria

In the world today we have seen a rise in the use of solar energy due to its reduction on cost of purchasing energy, and a cleaner self owned power production for most a duration of 25 – 30 years of the solar panel 100 to 80 percent drop in power production, meaning if you are in your 30’s now and you decide to go solar, you will use this system till you get to your 50’s and at that time for a good solar panel choice you can be sure it would have only reduced efficiency by at most 20%, that is amazing.

Building Roof for Solar (beware of Shades)

Following the previous post on Best Practices for Building Roof for Solar in Nigeria, which we discussed extensively on “Orientation”, another is the effect of shade, please take your time to follow closely.

The solar array which is the group of solar panels are always expected to be unshaded on all the part of the system. The power is generated when there is an incident amount of light on cells of the solar panels, and this light is converted by the cells into an electrical current ( Direct current(dc) ) then to the solar charge controller which in turn charges the battery or is sent to power the electrical appliances.

In layman terms I will do well to explain why shading can paralyze or reduce the efficiency of the whole system to 20% or lower; imagine in a tug of war sport, lets say the guys on the left are solar panels and on or two of them fell (shaded), you’ll observe that the they wont be able to pull as much again and efficiency would really fall and more energy is lost.

Ensure there are no shadings casted on your roof either by another building or trees blocking the incidence of sunlight on your roof and if that is inevitable you may need to find another location, to build a construction in order to get the best from sun light. please you can learn more on orientation.

In the subsequent post you will get to know about other considerations before building your roof such as Pitch, Material, Age, Size of solar roof.

Lets go right into the discussion on building roof systems for your solar panels

Back in the day is when people build roofs for the purpose of protecting their houses against rain, sun rays, security, luxury and beauty, architectural great designs, even though all this are good reasons to build roofs they are fast fading away for the need of efficient roofing systems, to build not just to cover the house but to serve as energy for the entire house!, and this is amazing, that a house can use its roof to generate as much energy required to power appliances, is the real deal.

Now the new system of building for a forward thinking building or home owner will prioritize or implement best, calculated effort to build roofs to get the maximum power from the free gift God Almighty gave us from His Kingdom which was situated below His Heaven to Shine on both the good and the evil, enabling all to partake of His Grace in the very words of the greatest philosopher Jesus Christ.

Factors to be considered before building your roof or at least if your roof as been built, factors to consider to maximize what you have.

Orientation: This is one of the most important point you would need to know, but before we talk about this you need to be educated about the way the way the earth revolves around the sun , ( or better we say sun moves )
Nigeria’s Average daylight is about 11hrs and sun hours is about 8 hours or more for northern states, meaning if there must be a place designed to operate solely for solar power generation its our blessed nation, please note that daylight is highly different from sunlight, daylight is just when the day is bright enough for movement and the sun is not really up yet, and that’s always around 6am to 5pm daily and in the midst is the sunlight when the sun is up proper, obviously you may have understood the difference by now, those windy and cloudy days are examples of normal daylight, even though that can also charge your batteries and power your home its not as significant or powerful as when the sun is really up. though if calculated correctly you can get the best from your daylight too.

for the purpose of this article you lets narrow down on sunlight hours, the sun hours are really from 9am – 5pm, and most sunny times are near the noon and after noon,

looking at the image above if the sun moves from east to west guess where is best to be the widest part of your roof?, obviously the south is the best so as the sun moves it always shines on your solar panels for best efficiency, and if you already have your widest place south-east its not a bad deal as such only that it may reduce your energy harvest from the sun about 10-20%, even though south facing solar panels are the best the second to it is south-west facing solar panels, you would notice the sun moves in the morning from the west and around 12noon – 5pm to the west meaning it can as well harvest a lot energy too.

please note that it doesn’t mean southwest facing solar panels wont get any energy as at 8am-12noon, it certainly will but not as much as a south facing solar panel

In the subsequent post you will get to know about other considerations before building your roof such as Pitch, Shade, Material, Age, Size.

Good morning Thread, it’s such an amazing time getting to learn a lot on this platform, this is to me more like a request to help in educating us about building roofs for the future of energy

Having been in the trenches of energy production from the sun, and by consistent study on the types of roof people use, I have actually observed they didn’t build with sun energy in mind, because of the slope, slants, geo-coordinates facing, and we should know well that the nearest future of energy generation for buildings is a sole or personal power generation, and the more we are critical about building to get the best energy from the sun the better and cheaper for every building or home, this is why most people spend a lot more than their friends, just because of no future mindedness of their roof as against generation of power from the sun.

I intended to help educate us on how to make the best out of roof styles and choices, before completing our buildings. This is really key, because generating power from the sun requires space, and most buildings don’t have ground space enough to cater for that, all they have is their roof, so why not take this as critical

Can I go ahead with this for the next few days, with detailed information and instructions before roofing buildings to make the best efficient use of it

wow, thank you for the warm welcome

There are many reasons why solar projects fail, and this is a two way thing its both in the hands of the customers and sellers/installers, most people do not get enough facts ready to make profitable solar deals, and they are more concerned about how cheap they want it rather than buying quality components.

When going solar, endeavor to carry as much information along before getting depressed about what you should have learnt

Not All Installers are worth installing

this may be a painful truth, but there are some tutorials and training on solar that some so called companies are doing but may not teach the mathematics, physics and the geography of solar design, and this is really due to the understanding so many of this people have, competing high solar tech professionals outside this country, you would notice, many don’t have enough knowledge to spend your money well enough.

You just have to spend more time with knowledge, we have provided a free resource/guide on going solar safely for home owners and this can be of help, just before you go searching for an installer, keep in mind that you need to find as much recommendation as possible either with the installers clients or with the past projects, or the firm he/she must have worked with.

In this book, we capture the 7 commandments every Home owner must know before going solar.

What’s more in getting ahead in life is as a result of decisions we take and are willing to make, everyday when we choose to fight again, so many things have their way to pull us down this are critically the things that seem more powerful than us.

Consistent worries
- power cuts
- Another fuel Money
- consistent heat at night.

No body really was meant to be in that kind of situation for life, no family was meant to continue making mistakes and over spending on power

Ensuring you make the best decision for your next Inverter is key and doing this can be more easy when every of your decisions are made in direct proportion to thinking

- smart
- Taking all sides of the story
- buying smart and not cheap
- Getting a great installer

Those things are really the priceless things we must consider before buying another fake battery, fake Inverter or solar equipment.

My counsel is free.

Your home needs to be liberated from power issues!

No more “I better pass my neighbors “

Life can be quiet, your room can be quite and yet the fans are working, no issues with light.

Just a counsel away!

You can be making a decision that other decisions would be based on.

Gift your family the good life.

Guaranteed, follow this thread and be happy to make the best well informed decision in powering your home
Most causes of anxiety is the reason a lot of people dont live as long as they planned too, and shutting down anxiety in any form saves you some more time to stay alive,
The more you we worry about
- Power outages
- Fake Installers
- irresistible marketers only out for our money
- Consistent hike in fuel prices, and parts of generators
- Late night generator noise
- Heat and low comfort with consistent power cuts

this problems have continually made men and women bread winners of families depressed without knowing, some fall into the hands of thieves called marketers, who parade themselves in sheep clothing but actually are after our money.

this problems may not be found to be obvious to us now, but the accumulated issues are worse because they cause missed opporutnities

- No light = missed opportunities
= low productivity, and stress to homes.

Even though you have enough to fuel your generator for 5 years, you are only investing money in what you cant call your own, the only thing you own is something you can boast of having for over 20 years.

the Gen set may be yours
The fuel is not, its the governments
The oil is not, its the governments

meaning the price can be x3 yet you are compelled to buy, and at the end of it you spend 100's of thousand to millions in 5 years because of the dread of a failed solar investment.

As a consultant I have put up this thread to discuss and help home owners make the best decisions and continously update my friends on best practices along the years.

lets talk solar, inverter, batteries together.

Lets be shielded from liars, get quality information and assure your day/night rest.

Happy Friday to you and your family

And may God Bless your homes with Peace and Prosperity in Jesus Name

Amen.
