You could start, buy small small, buy solar panels first maybe four 300watts, then charge controller, then inverter, lastly buy 2 battery but the inverter must have to be what can power your freezer/fridge (preferably not lower than 2.5kva24V inverter).
Plan and work towards it and you can achieve it

Majorly in Nigeria now we use Tubular(wet cell) or Lithium battery in Nigeria which are more reliable than the previous SLA batteries.
Some tips for a novice:
1) warranty duration (should be at least 18months for Tubular and 5years for Lithium batteries) the higher the better but may cost more.
2) the price (if the price is much cheaper than the others, the AH/capacity may be compromised)
3) the weight of the Tubular battery.

The Solar panels required for your system should be primarily be determined by your Loads demand. Simply what amount of energy that can serve you per day for your specified loads, including charging of the batteries. When the cost of this is above your budget then you can do the one according to your pocket and can then support with public power supply or generator set depending on the season and your need for energy when the solar energy goes out.

The DC component of my solar installation has been sparking and melting of late. Sometimes, it stops charging altogether, until we reboot the system. We were told to replace the unit, which is 63 amps. Now we are contemplating getting the 100amps or 123amps...is this ok?

Again, what is the best brand to go for; the current one we are using is Schneider but it seems fake. What better brands are out there?

Get a Chint DC circuit breaker not AC. From Oshodi Arena or Alaba international. Or online... It's not cheap though 😊
