Tell your cousin to reply to with a cover letter and attach the conference invitation letter.
ola80:
Dear All,
My cousin recently applied for New Zealand visitor Visa online. In fact he has submitted his application since october 9, 2018 hoping to get results witihin the stipulated 25 days maximum. But till now, no decision has been made. He submitted with all supporting documents online and paid the visa fees through his gtb atm card. He had to send them a query message last week and was replied after three days as follows:

Dear xxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting us.

Your Visitor Visa application was allocated to Case Officer on 25th October and is still under process. You may opt to include a cover letter requesting your visa application to be done on priority manner and attach supporting documents in relation to your request. However, I cannot offer any guarantees as these types of request are reviewed by the processing branch based on its merits.

I hope this has been helpful.

Till now, he has not received any further update and he needs to attend a conference on Dec. 2 in Auckland. He has already paid for the conference.

Please advise on what to do.

With the IQA, can one still meet up with the 260 points?
SerAce:
Please, who is going for the silver fern? Who knows how often they open for applications?

I have most of my monies tied where I don't have access to until January and would like to know if there's a chance for another round application around first quarter of 2019.

This NZ things are expensive tho; iqa is almost 200k! Canada's IQAS doesn't even cost up to 100k.

I doubt if psychology falls under skill shortage.
JustCare:

Thanks man. Who knows if a BSc holder in psychology can be accepted under the shortage skills selection in this category of visa.
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 2:06am On Nov 05, 2018
Absolutely! The next one is November 29th.
SerAce:

I think I got my answer to the frequency of rounds of application. It's yearly and only accommodates 300 per year.
If only one had known about this.
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 11:46pm On Nov 02, 2018
Baba you are absolutely correct.

NZ is the least popular yet it remained the favorite tourist attraction for Europeans and few Americans.

Continue your good work here. God bless you.
femijck:
It’s because NZ is the least popular of all the countries mentioned in your post. You can’t compare the threads as there are more nairanlanders in those country who are willing to share info....... NZ is a small country, and not so many Africans are migrating here. You can compare with Norway, Iceland etc thread.

Most African in NZ are refugees from East Africa and some South Africa citizens

Many Nigerians today still don’t know there’s a country call New Zealand.... But it’s the favourite tourist destination for Europeans and Americans.

Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 11:43pm On Nov 02, 2018
Yes, few Nigerians are in NZ.

Kindly share tips with the few people who are serious here.

Thanks to @Femijck for taking out time to share with us here. However,
we need more experienced NZ Nigerians that will also contribute.
suxes2005:

Because there are few people on this thread who are currently in NZ
to help people out on a daily basis ...

Also, very few people are truly serious about going to NZ considering the
ticket prices and lack of good info about there. ..

I'd like to know why do we have a dormant thread compare to other threads that are super active such as the Canadian, Australian, US, and other European countries?

Please, for those who are presently in NZ kindly share your experience to help guys here.

Visit www.immigration.govt.nz. Yes, visas are issued to
Nigerians.
Ben4boss:
Please house, how can I submit my New Zealand application visa online or through Vfs and again do they issue Nigerian visa.
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 2:04am On Nov 01, 2018
@Femijck has more insight about this.
JustCare:

Can someone confirm the issue of work experience. From what I read on the NZ immigration site and quora, the work experience is for Trade qualification and not for Bachelor and masters degree holders. Anyone?
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 5:52pm On Oct 30, 2018
The precise date is 29th November, you must be between the ages of 20-35 years with two years work experience, qualifications must be equivalent to NZ, You must be able to speak English, etc.
CrystalMax:

Please tell us more about this silver fern visa. Thanks

You're doing a great job here. You're absolutely right with the analysis of using Nigerian agents. I have seen a fake nz visa shown to me by a friend and how do I know it was having a picture on it. Inz doesn't include once picture on the visa. I was able to know this through an instagram page of an immigration agent based in NZ of his recent work displayed on his page. Please let us be careful of using Nigerian agent many are out to cause further damage.
femijck:
I have checked all the visas I have access to, ranging from visitor, work, residents, to PR and none of them have any set of numbers like yours.
The application number, client number and visa number of visas issued in the last 4 years are all 8digits numbers.
The 2 set of numbers that should be on your visa is your ‘client number’ on the left and visa number on the right

I will advise you not to buy any ticket yet.
I advise everybody on this thread not to use any agent for NZ visa. If u qualify, u will get it with proper guidance. DIY

If at most u need an agent, let them charge you for the paperwork. While u apply and courier it yourself with your email and address. communicate directly with immigration. Pay visa fee from your account and have them return your passport to u directly and not agent.

If your application is denied, INZ won’t stamp your passport but all these criminal travel agents don’t care about damaging your passport.

Except Licensed Immigration Adviser LIA. Which I’m not sure if there’s any in Nigeria.

Politics / Re: 85000 Prepaid Meters To Be Shared Across Ikorodu, Ikeja, Oshodi, Abule Egba by solin: 4:00pm On Sep 29, 2018
According to the marketer coordinating my community, he said per person house an initial 100k will get one prepaid meter installed and subsequent request for prepaid meter is 30k which would have come loaded.
Olori:
This is another side to the story which they wont tell you.
They came to our house and dropped a hand written note with a number to call if we are interested. Additionally they told my wife we need to pay 100k per household ( we are 5 flats).
The prepaid meter is 25k and the other 75k is supposedly to load your card when the meter is supplied.
In Buharis’ Nigeria a landlord to cough out 500k for 5 prepaid meter..

Thank you for your response.

However, what kind of currency? Our naira/US dollars?
femijck:
The minimum amount will depend on ur circumstances, for instance someone who have a pre-arranged accomodation might bring less than some who doesn’t.
But the maximum is 10k NZD. anything above that, u will have to declare it on ur passenger arrival form. Immigration might interview you just to make sure the money is from a legitimate source and not a proceed from crime or money laundering.
If u do not declare it and u are caught, You will have to pay a fine.

Yes u can open a ‘Migrant account ‘ with ANZ bank or other bank who offer such accounts. Check the ur website for more info about that.

I’m not sure about Naija card. But my diamond bank didn’t work when I got here.... I will advise u bring cash as u will get more in exchange.
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 8:23am On Sep 24, 2018
@Femijck or any other person who's knowledgeable about bringing fund to NZ. What's the minimum amount expected cash to come in with?

Can one open a bank account while in Nigeria and activate it on arrival by sending cash from Nigeria domiciliary account just like is done in Australia?

What is the cheapest exchange rate from dollars to NZ dollars and which place can it be done?

Is it possible to withdraw with Nigeria ATM without loosing much cash due to exchange rate.

Kindly share your thoughts.

Did you do the visa application yourself or through an agent?
When did you submit and when did you receive congratulatory message about your visa?
murphy02:

The expiration date is one year, however I can only stay for 3months within that one yr , if I intend to stay longer I will need to apply for a variation of condition.
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 5:48pm On Sep 22, 2018
State it in your cover letter. You can also check of the conference will provide for your accommodation. If all that is in place you can file your application as soon as possible.
spankyflex:
Thanks for the reply, am actually staying for 10days.
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 1:14pm On Sep 22, 2018
Technically no.
1.5m isn't enough though. Based on inz website. For a visit visa you need like1k dollars for a min period of 3 months or based on the number of months/weeks you will spend in NZ. Let's do the math, #500k is about 2k nz dollars and cost of flight is between 850k-1m round trip which means you are spending all you have for your trip. If you can get additional fund of 500k-1m you'd be fine.
Op can also shed more insight here.
spankyflex:
hi,Solin can you answer this? thanks.

I would like to implore us to ask all questions here as it will help others who might be reading this tread for the first time and are in similar situation.

Going forward it will help the thread not to go into extinction.
@Femijck, Please encourage questions to be answered here.

I can feel that.
Keep sharing the experience it will help a whole lot here. I admire the Indians and Chinese for this. They have been able to bring in so many of their countrymen down to NZ.

Not really... just telling d truth from my experience....but now it’s all worth it......
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 6:54pm On Sep 21, 2018
You must have seen a whole lot.
Thanks for the advise.
femijck:
lol.... If you’re not shy to walk into any office, factory, businesses or even social gatherings...... to talk to people, to put yourself out there....to seek for help without being ashamed. And u are physically and mentally prepared for the task, embarrassment and fun of trying to know people or seeking for whatever u want, then u have a chance.....truth is most migrants go through this before they become who or what they are today. Some were lucky, some were not....

PS : This is not an immigration advice but my personal opinion
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 12:32pm On Sep 20, 2018
@Femijck can ask. But, if volunteer for 3 months without pay and any other benefits. You can be sponsored.

Femijck can guide on this.
murphy02:

But after the 3 months, will i be able to get a work visa?
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 8:56am On Sep 20, 2018
Another option is to volunteer without pay of any incentive for the three months period.
murphy02:

Ok thanks bro
But is thr no other to go about this stuff? Am about to pay for my ticket, hence my curiosity, so that if it doesn't worth it, I can just move on

Or what if I pick up a trade any trade for like 2 months except construction that has to do with height won't I see any company to sponsor my work visa?

I have also sent a couple of mails from Nigeria for job application. The response I keep getting is, contact us when you are in NZ with your NZ phone number and address.
Well, it's not impossible getting jobs from here but it's a cat race.
iwanvisityankee:
thanks for your input bro, but it seems very risky going with visit visa, I’ve got some mails from where my friend has been submitting my cv & the ones I applied myself, all their response was that I have to be physically in NZ & have rights to work before they will hire me, it’s not easy bro, @OP, pls is there any way I can get work permit before moving over as that will be very easy for me to get a job. Thanks
Travel / Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by solin: 2:36am On Sep 18, 2018
I agree, it may not be fine to arrive with a visit visa, but considering the fact that the status of the visa can be changed finding an employer.
I have read from about American and British citizens arrive on a visit visa and thus change their visa status. It's not impossible.
femijck:
I have advised this before that the worst visa to come to NZ with, with hope of settling down is a visitor visa.... but I won’t discourage anyone who already made up their mind probably because of the news on the internet......Things u read online are different from what is really happening sometimes

I will rather go to a country with larger population than NZ and with larger population of my race or illegal immigrants or where I can easily seek asylum than NZ . NZ is a small country with population of less than 5M and things are not so easy to shortcut.
