Lol, I have a friend that applied for ALC 36.1 because he was also part of ALC (I think it was specially opened for you guys ). The deadline was yesterday so you guys should be expecting your mails soon.

Cycle 36 deadline was August 08. So don't confuse yourself.
Keep calm.

36 is different from 36.1
Just like iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s smiley

Yeah, I am yet to hear from them though

Wait fes. Wetin I dey read here no dey rhyme. I dey my own jeje when Andela send me mail as per member of ALC 3.0 to apply for Andela Cycle 36.1, I did.

I really didn't see myself as someone qualified for Andela fellowship. I wasn't exactly looking in their direction gan sef. Then I thought, well they did send me a mail asking me to apply. Perhaps they think I am ready.

My deadline for submission of the challenge was by (not before) August 13. I submitted on August 12, around 11:50pm. They even sent me a mail encouraging me to try and finish before August 13.

I am quite sure I am part of Cycle 36.1, but here I see people claiming to be part of cycle 36.1 saying they had a deadline of August 8th and stuff about interview.

Now I am really confused. I am yet to get any mail. I'm still waiting. I won't be happy if they simply raised my hope just to smash it.

Anyways, is there anyone here who was part of ALC 3.0 who was sent a mail by Andela to apply?

I am... my deadline too was yesterday... but had submitted lastweek... didn't do it well, thou!

Damn i thought i applied for cycle 37. the deadline for the application was july 20, first test july 25 and second test aug 8. If that was cycle 36 then when did the application for cycle 37 started and ended? and it's the last.

I finished the coding test in 2hr 36mins with all the codes tested correctly by Qualified.io code checker.
Now this is the response i just got from andela.

{They saluted me for an act of courage and for taking that important step towards realizing my dream of becoming a world-class software developer blahblahblah!!! BUT Unfortunately, at this time, we can’t move forward with your application blahblahblah!!! }

Well maybe not perfect, but i work in a Bank morning till evening only applying my skill in financial analysis, risk management... Since i applied i sleep very late just to get a few hours of code learning every night, transition from accounting to programming isn't easy. Maybe I'm not good enough to deserve it but an interview at least would have been more appreciated than a damned salute.

Well to be candid, after all the knowledge of web development(HTML, CSS, JS + a bit of jQuery) accumulated in a little while, it felt really good to realise that one could still become a self made developer after navigating the wrong crowd for long. Andela rekindled that hope and i salute them back. I could move on from this point starting with automating most tasks for my couleagues.
Though i don't think any fresh coder would make it into andela with my experience now, there are probably some qualities the old fellas would possess... including more speed i suppose...

Apply for Cycle 37

I am planning for march in-take... when would the admission start? and how can I reach you?

NB: I need a fully funded MSc scholarship with monthly stipend.

Firstly, you'll be sent a Google form test(that will be the very first) they are like 30 questions or something(multichoice). They are not timed and it's better to study the home study curriculum well, Google too can be of help for tricky parts.
It's better you take your time to do it. If you pass this phase, you are sent another technical test on qualified io(multichoice with few coding questions). It's timed, but you won't run out of time
After the qualified io, if you did well, you'll be invited for an interview(you'll submit a code challenge before the interview, and defend it to the interviewers).
If the interview is successful, you get selected for boot camp and so on....

Note: if you've not gotten your self right with programming, you shouldn't go to boot camp, but it's not to late to start working on yourself rigorously.
PS: cycle 37 is the last for this year. The next application opens next year.

Thanks for this explanation. I have done the technical test on qualified io, expecting response.

OK, I will do a breakdown. Cost of food in most school canteen is 10kuai per meal. Three meals per day, 30 days a week, that's 900kuai on food alone. You need to buy water to drink and that's like 30kaui max for 3 bottles of water per month. Transport, a piece of clothe, shoe, miscellaneous... Let's say 300 kuai for the month. That puts u at 1200 per month on expenses n u will be fine. But you can spend lesser or more than that? U might want to ditch the 10 kuai meal and eat the one of 17kuai a few times. You might crave some fries or burger to pizza, and this might add to your expenses. But, you can also cook. With 15 kuai, u can make a nice fish stew, especially if you go with your Nigerian ingredients. But, it will come to a point when u really want Nigerian food. You can buy their vegetables, you can do ogbono or egusi n freeze it. The only issue is what you want to eat with the soup. If u do some home cooking WITH CHINESE SOURCED INGREDIENTS, you should spend around 1000 per month. BUT if you buy Nigerian food like palm oil, egusi, semo, poundo yam, maggi, wheat etc from China, then your cost might raise to 1400 per month. You will be well fed tho. You should cook sometimes cos chinese food will eventually tire u. Just open YouTube, I cook better than most Naija girls and all Na YouTube o. Whatever you do, eat well. I don't believe in saving money at the expense of food. Lots of people do it tho,

Are you saying the 1000 rmb stipend monthly won't be enough?

applying directly to the school is the best. Genuine Agents are also reliable but how do you know a genuine agent?

How do we know schools that offer such scholarships?
