solomonwis: Did you get this “fact” from the link or that's what you think?

You really need to read that link before you confuse people!

You get the four (4) extra points when you meet the minimum threshold in your first language {First Language can either be English or French}.
Solomonwis please could you clarify? I guess we didnt quite understand your explanation the first time. Are you saying once I get the minimum score, I automatically get 4 extra points?

LadyGuinivere: The xtra 5 pts u get from spouse language ability is under adaptability not language
Yes I know so but just wondering if that is what Solomonwis is thinking because its easy to mix this things up sometimes

solomonwis: LadyGuinivere: @kunlexymore See, u get d maximum points of 28 if u can demonstrate that u have ability in both English and French.
If u have get the maximum points for English na 24. 2nd language (french) na extra 4 points

You need to compare his statement and compare with the requirement on the link. That is for the discerning mind!

Where did FRENCH become the second language required to earn the extra four(4) points?
Ok Solomonwis could the 4points be the additional point you score if your spouse also submit a test score above CLB5?

In Canada the first official language is English and the second is French. If you get maximum points for Speaking, you get 6points. maximum point for reading 6points. Maximum point for listening 6points. Maximum point for writing 6points. When you add them up it will give you 24points. Now to succeed in getting all 28points you must get an additional 4points from the second official language which is french. To achieve this, you will score 5and above in your french which is CLB 5 and above. Is there something I still dont get here please.

solomonwis: That is totally wrong! A misrepresentation of fact!

Read this link CAREFULLY...http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp
She is correct na Solomonwis. Its what she shared you just posted. Maximum of 24points for first official language and 4points for second official language so when you combine 24+4=28. Correct!!!

Kunlexymoore: Please how are marks allocated on the language skills test? Hw do you allign your scores to the 28 available points, considering the fact that CB7 is said to be the minimum while the maximum is CB9?
Why not take a little time to read all of that. Its clearly stated on the CIC website. Just an advice cause whatever anyone tells you here doesn't supersede whats on that website

But let me help in my little way. I will use the point system as used in IELTS.
We have scores 9,8,7,6,5,4,3 etc To qualify as an applicant for FSW you must score a minimum of 6.0 in all your IELTS tests scores. So Speaking=6.0, Listening=6.0, Writing=6.0, reading=6.0 to score points for adaptability, your spouse must score not less than 5.0 in all.
Another point is you must read very well for the Exam. it looks simple but can be tricky especially the reading and listening aspect.

solomonwis: You took a great risk by guessing.....Not many people are good at guessing and for a program like this, guess work doesn't pay. You are fortunate to have "guessed" right.

In terms of credentials assessment, those who will have the upper hand are people who only have to upgrade their assessment with the authorized bodies since they have already forwarded their transcripts earlier for one purpose or the other.

Have you considered people who schooled outside their country of residence,do they have the luxury of time, energy and resources to go to their school to demand for their transcripts? Most institutions outside Nigeria can issue transcripts within days when you make request without you putting pressure on anyone.Unfortunately, most Institutions in Nigeria require you fill some form so as to get your transcripts processed and forwarded. The right thing is for transcripts to be sent directly, not for anyone to handpick.

WES has a digitiary system with some institutions, for those institutions you don't have to go through any hassle. All you do is provide WES your details and they can assess your transcripts online directly from the Institution.

Unfortunately,Nigeria doesn't have anything close to that.

In this program, you could be fast but you must be thorough lest the one who is behind take your slot/position.
You must get it right,no space for mistakes.
I cant agree with you less.

solomonwis: How did the person "gather" transcripts that ought to be sent directly by the issuing institution to the assessing body months before the start off date?

Nobody would have known the authorized bodies responsible for assessment until April 17th 2013 when only Four (4) organizations were empowered to assess credentials for immigration to Canada purpose.
You see not all schools send directly. Some ex-students will get the courier company to come with them to Transcript office (i.e they use the local courier around the school), pick the document themselves to mailed at a later time. Even though the list of Credentials assessment institutions weren't named till April 17th, some could guess what they would be. Like myself, I guessed ICAS and did my assessment before 17th and only had to do an upgrade after the announcement which took me just 5days.

By the way I chose the courier for my transcript myself. Cant afford the slow mail the school would prefer.

LadyGuinivere: The challenge with WES is 1. Gettin ur school to send ur transcript on time
2. WES will stl reconfirm d transcript . In my case dey sent it via email and believe it or not, it stayed 15 days till I called them before d school reply wes. So u have to be in steady couumune wiv ur scl
I see....
I didn't use WES though but I expect anyone hoping to apply to have gathered stuff like 3months ago because they've been talking about it since last year. Thank God for life, I know someone who gathered all documents since last year but he is no more.
Travel › Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomongrandy: 1:00pm On May 15, 2013
solomonwis: There is no hard and fast rule to it other than to make the checklist {You can find it here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf}

You must follow the checklist religiously! That way you will avoid costly mistakes. You can get an envelop and begin to put the documents one after the other and tick as appropriate on the checklist.
Hmmmm...

But I wanted our own version of a chatlist not checklist....lol

solomonwis: How many people know they have to submit 6
Photographs with the name, date of birth and date the passport was taken at the back of just 5 of the pix?
You know you are so right @Solomonwis? By the way can you just give us a list of possible mistake laden areas that we most likely be a grey area if not carefully looked into.
One point I have noted is the mistake of not signing the forms. And also submitting photocopy of test score or Assesement document.
Please feed your flocks....lol

sperony: This forum worth more than so many fraudulence immigration lawyer out there. The way I'm seeing it now, from discussions I believe 90% of submitted applications will have one error or incomplete information issue. Think about this; certificate evaluation process that takes months, english test that takes weeks and some other key requirements like proof of fund ( CAND 11,000 no be small do).
You are so wrong. Credential valuation only takes 7days if you are using WES and Test of english only 13days from date of exam. So?

solomonwis: The only option is to wait for your occupation to be listed on the eligible occupation. That might be after April 2014.

In the time being you can begin to gather the necessary documents necessary for a positive assessment.
My guy have sent the extra information he missed out in a fresh courier today after i told him about this thread. I also watched a video on CIC website where they mentioned something like you can make a note of the missing document, attched them and send. Dont know how correct though.

solomonwis: From experience, your friend's application might be returned as incomplete. That form is applicable to everyone who submits an application.
Thanks for your reply. When I looked at the forms, the Travel form is the only one that doesn't demand that you signed it after filling it. besides he doesnt have a travel history. I hope my friend finds favour there.

solomonwis: Aside all the forms applicable

Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008)
Additional Dependants/Declaration (IMM 0008DEP)
Schedule A: Background / Declaration (IMM 5669)
Schedule 3: Economic Classes – Federal Skilled Worker (IMM 0008 – Schedule 3)
Additional Family Information (IMM 5406)
Supplementary Information – Your travels (IMM 5562)
Separation Declaration for Minors Travelling to Canada (IMM 5604)
Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409)
Fee Payment Form – Application for Permanent Residence (IMM 5620)
Document Checklist – Centralized Intake Office (IMM 5612)
Use of a Representative (IMM 5476), if applicable. ,

These are some of the quintessential documents needed for application.
A friend of mine submitted his application already but didn't include the Supplementary Information – Your travels (IMM 5562)because according to him he thought its for only those who have a travel history and so didn't include it. Will his document be returned because of this. All other forms were signed and submitted.

solomonwis: Debit card payment is advisable.

This is because it cost you next to nothing apart from the application fee unlike bank draft.

Just supply your Master/visa card details in the appropriate form and send over to CIO in canada for processing.
So nice to see this forum. Please does anyone know when the application fee will be charged on the card details submitted? I am asking because even though I am planning to submit, I wont be crediting my card until one week after submission. Will that be too late cause I have heard people say their cards weren't charged immediately.
