mercylicious: Hello house,
My ielts result is out.
I failed.
Listening 5
Reading 8
Writing 7.5
Speaking 7

Overall band - 7

I just wasted 35k
This is one thing I prayed deeply against when I took that test. Listening is the tricky part. Appears simple but NO it isn't. I don't know under what NOC you are applying but if its not a HOT one, I suggest you take another test and send your application since you are still waiting for WES. It will make it 70K you are spending but the more the sacrifice, the more its reward. Otherwise gather all your docs, wait for next year MAY, check all the CIC forms online 1day after CIC declares FSW2014 open and send all completed docs together with your forms. Don't forget picture specification, signing of all forms, DOB of all family members and payment fee form. SIGN ALL FORMS.

FSWP2132: Hello All,
I just joined this forum....was randomly searching google and got hold of this forum.
Its really nice to see a forum related to Canadian FSWP 2013 program.
I have applied under NOC 2132 on 16th May 2013 and have received PER on 29th July 2013.
I will try to contribute here whatever knowledge I do have to help others.
I am also active at other forum and it would be worthwhile for everyone to go through that forum also.
Already around 666 people are active there and 193 people have got their CC/DD charged. Out of these, around 160 people have received PER (Positive Eligibility Review).
Here is the link--> http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/fsw-2013-applicants-timeline-lets-network-here-t146774.19215.html
There is a spreadsheet which is being maintained to track the FSWP progress.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aovj20uHVWyzdGFqSGJUOEtVX0h5eWM0cXB5dlAtOEE#gid=0

Do let me know in case of any query.
Thanks
Nice to know. I am also on that forum and got my PER August 2. Please PM me lets hook up!

solomonwis: With the system put in place by the school especially with the fact that you can order for the sending of your transcript online(and verification), you should not be experiencing any delay with verification.

You can send a mail to oau@etx-ng.com asking for assistance in the verification of your transcript to WES. Let's hope that speed up the process.
I finished from OAU. Well my advise will be for you to travel there or send someone there. There is this guy called Mr. Sikiru 08066776567 a staff in Exams and Records. He can be of help. Once you get to OAU, go straight to exams and records and ask of him. Let him know you want to send your transcript same day and that you are from a far away distance. He helped me and I only showed appreciation as he never asked for anything. Once you are through at Exams and Records, go to Amphi Theatre basement and ask for DHL office. Get a staff of dhl to accompany you to collect the transcript and mail to WES or ICAS or wherever. I did mine in one day.
Greatest of the greatest Ife!!!

WaltherPPK: ferdimako, relax na, we are all here to share info, even when we argue it makes somethings clearer, I believe there should be logical arguments devoid of name calling, how ur aussie app, my guy? Solomonwis, just let it slide, ok, u have been doing a good job on the info u share on the thread, don't spoil it.
OMG! I can't believe what have just read here. Instead of sharing ideas and making friends people fighting faceless. Its counterproductive. This forum isn't going anywhere this way. Nigerians please learn to tolerate. I know our economy is biting but must we kill one another?
Please take it back to business and show some love plus respect.

So I have decided to answer as much questions as time permits me today. I have contributed in foreign forum and thought it will be nice to also contribute on a Nigerian forum. I wish you all speedy successes. CIC seem to be taking their time these days.

mercylicious: I actually meant, how many points will 5 years and 8 months get on the point scale? Will it get point for 4 to 6 years or for 6 years and above?
Well since 5years and 8months is not equal to 6years, I guess you wont be getting points for six years and above.
Travel › Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomongrandy: 4:43pm On Aug 07, 2013
solomonwis: These funds could be in the form of:
•cash
•documents that show property or capital payable to you (such as stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.) or
•documents that guarantee payment of a set amount of money, which are payable to you (such as bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp
My advise to anyone is show physical cash, shares, or fixed deposit. I learnt from a reliable source that CIC and even some local VOs don't take certain assets seriously especially from a Third world country. if you have buildings or cars and you live in London they may believe you but not so much with Africa. So know your red lines and play safe. Its just my opinion.

frankieO: Please when did u submit your application? Was it before or after the canadian immigration strike started?
Would appreciate if u can revert back cheers!!!
I submitted before PAFSO announced their strike but that doesn't change anything. People who submitted later during the strike had their applications signed for and collected. And some have reported CC charge and even PER. So do what you have to do and forget about the strike.
Travel › Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomongrandy: 4:32pm On Aug 07, 2013
solomonwis: From all indication, the strike is a plus rather than a minus for FSWP applicants. The concentration is more on the FWSP applicants than anything else especially from the CIO in Nova Scotia. The only delay you might experience might be from the Visa Offices (if the visa office responsible for the finalization of your application is one of the offices affected by PAFSO's strike).

I think you should be more concerned about receiving your PER and your AOR than what the effect of the strike might be. As soon as the strike is over, the speed with which applicants will be attended to will be alarming! With the new FSWP in place, the whole process is not expected to last longer than between 6 months to 1 year maximum.
Well CIO in Nova Scotia is not on strike. At-least they are working. The Embassies on strike are mostly outside Canada and especially in Asia. CIO will continue processing and issuing PERs. At worst ECAS wont be updated regularly so that file transfer to local VO can be done in bits. Also not all VOs have joined the strike. Accra isn't on strike as they have confirmed receipt of my file from CIO. What the strike will do is delay the processing for certain High Commissions. Moreover since Files are treated in a First in First Out basis. Applications will always be on a date-to-date basis.
Travel › Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomongrandy: 4:25pm On Aug 07, 2013
solomonwis: No one can give you that info for sure. They'd rather give you under probability. In essence, you might have received confirmation of delivery but your application might be on queue for it to be attended to. So I'd advise you to be patient and remain hopeful that your turn will come soonest.
CIC is still looking at Applications received in May. It takes CIC an average of 1week to treat files received in a space of 3days so you can do the maths and get a probable time your case will be treated. The good news however is that the number of people applying will experience a steady decline with time which will also affect the processing time for those later dates.

mercylicious: Count down to my 13 days. Its drawing nearer.
Meanwhile, my transcript issue has not been sorted out. I've not been able to go myself cos we has crises issue in the office, by next week it will be less demanding and I shld be able to sneak to school with my student copy, I know that will help.
How long does it take for sch to receive cert verificatn from wes? Sch said they have not received it. I think ill be upgrading to courier. Didn't have money for that when I was applying.
If you are married, I hope your spouse also took the test? That will give you additional 5 marks.

Yipeee at the PER
Thanks LadyG. I am expecting good news from you. Its just the beginning for us after PER. We still have to await medicals, Possible Interview, before Visas. That might take us between 6-10months from now.
You used DD so you may have to check your spam mails for PER or call your bank again on Monday.

LadyGuinivere: His NOC is 2134 and his application reached on d 15th. Have no idea which card he used.
Yes LadyG my app reached May 15th but I sent additional documents which later reached May 22nd. I guess my date then changed to May 22nd as my GTB Visa Card was charged when people of May 22nd-24th are reporting cc charge.

Its been a long while for me and I really miss some of you guys down this end.

After the long wait and too much tension, i just received my PER today. I am sooooo excited.

I pray it goes well with all of you on this side and that we ultimately share a common place to see our common desires fulfilled. God bless you all.

Like I said on the foreign forum, once your Debit card is charged, PER is almost sure.

Now I am waiting for AOR, Medicals and VISA

LadyGuinivere: That is d spirit. Clarification at all points.
I did not notarize my stuff but I'm sure there are people that wiLl do so cos they want to be doubly sure.
Welcome pauloman , teexzle and Almaliki.
@Almaliki hope say ur vex don reduce. Oya pls talk
Talk of notarization, the question should be why do we notarize a document? It may not apply for FSW since they will still be asking for more details from you as time progress if you pass through the initial stages. BUT to notarize a document isn't a bad idea. Reason is a notarized document is seen as a genuine one. The Notary Public collects an original document, makes a copy of it, puts his/her seal on it. That gives some credibility to the document. But if you didn't notarize your documents, I don't think that should be a problem. if you haven't submitted and you got some extra bucks, then do it.

solomonwis: Was your eligible occupation “music”,“DBC” or “Geology”? Because I see those are your areas of specialization.

I have attached a checklist from cic website (you can view my earlier posts),if you have anything to the contrary you can prove it by sending us documentary evidences such as the “correction attached” so others can learn from your “wealth of experience”. You can of course remove personal details.until then, the checklist on the cic website will remain valid for the purpose of FSWP.

Do not confuse us with your “experience” if you can not provide documentary evidence to invalidate what is clearly stated on the checklist and the CIC website.

I wish you the best in your music career!
Mr. Solomon please for the sake of the house allow people who have information share freely. The guy isn't asking for money in return for this advise besides there is no one in this forum that is still a baby and needs your baby-seating. Its just bad chasing people with good inputs away from this forum. Its sickening. For me I understand the guys per4spective. Will I live by it? That's for me to figure out. i will be forced to hook up privately with this dude should you send him away from the beautiful forum.
Good job by the way.

LadyGuinivere: The usual trend in most nairaland threads is that people get upset when opinions differ and start to hurl verbal slurs.
We'v been able to make it to page 5 with peace and harmony. I hope we continue. We're just here for information and to have a virtual shoulder to lean on.

Bwave: But you're very negative. Please don't discourage people here,ok.You have sent your own application, leave others to take their chance. You are not an authority to make such comments, or do you work at the citizenship and immigration office of the canadian government.
Stop Barking Mr. Read my comment wella. I only read out the grey lines and advised anyone that can afford it to go ahead. Advise is not for everyone to take and some wont and yet make a head way. Imagine someone putting in all the effort financially only to meet a brick-wall. Honestly if I haven't submitted by June ending or August I would wait till next year. Its all part of good reasoning with more time to prepare instead of stressing oneself for nothing. Its capital intensive and we must be realistic. If only one person submit correct entry for each occupation across the Asian countries, the cap is met already not to talk of Africa, Europe and even America and Canada. Remember money is not easy to come by and I am not advising anyone to waste it. June may still be ok but realistically speaking July/August i cant speak well. By the way what were you waiting for till now? And please don't be abusive.
Travel › Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomongrandy: 4:54pm On May 19, 2013
LadyGuinivere: Well SG the race is not to the swift. I looked at last year's analysis (from people's timeline that put in their application late) and some caps did not fill early and they were still lucky.
For me the challenge he's facing now is that he is still at sea for understanding the whole process
I agree with you but the Cap for last year isnt same for this years just 300. But nothing is impossible though. Got my offline message?

bayulll01: Thank you boss how can I get band to practice I need to start asap.more blessing
I dont mean to be negative but I doubt if anyone who hasn't taken his/her IELTS exam still has a chance. Presently there is no slot available for May so anyone writing the exam may have to wait till June and results wont be out until 13days after writing the exam and here we are talking of just 300 spaces available under each occupation and applicants from all over the world. If you can make it go ahead otherwise plan for next year. Just an advise though, I may be wrong. Let me also had that courier will take another 3days to arrive Nova Scotia and that is if you use the fastest which to me is DHL. some can take as long as one week e.g FEDEX

I was thinking for once that the forum is kind of quite lately and people aren't really asking question or making contributions perhaps due to the fact that they could hook up privately with persons of like mind.
But I am also suprise at all the hidden posts. I wish I could read them. It doesn't seem good hidden these posts.

You really need to read that link before you confuse people!

You get the four (4) extra points when you meet the minimum threshold in your first language {First Language can either be English or French}.
Waow waow waow!!! Solomonwis is SOOOOOOOOOOO correct. I just took a second glance at it. I will explain it better though.

Speaking Reading Listening Writing

7.0 – 9.0 8.0 – 9.0 7.0 – 9.0 7.0 – 9.0

If your scores fall into this range for each of them, then you get an additional 4point GBAM!!!
