Abel Ayinza, a Ugandan born pastor based in the U.S, has reportedly committed suicide in Massachusetts after engagement photographs of the girlfriend he left only a month ago in Uganda, went viral.


According to reports, his lifeless body was found at the state cemetery on Monday afternoon and the police in Watertown, a suburb of Boston City, the capital of Massachusetts State, are investigating possible suicide.

The messaging app has launched group calling for voice and video, starting today.

In a blog announcing the update, a spokesperson for WhatsApp said: “You can make a group call with up to four people total – anytime and anywhere.

“Just start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new “add participant” button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call.

Thankfully, WhatsApp confirmed that these group calls will always be end-to-end encrypted.

This ensures that only the members of the group can listen to or view the content of the call.

WhatsApp also confirmed that it has designed calling to work reliably around the world in different network conditions.

The feature is currently rolling out on the iPhone and Android versions of our app

Nigeria’s Central Bank (CBN) sold yuan at a range of N49 and N51 at its first auction of the Chinese currency last week under the swap agreement with the People’s Bank of China.

Traders told Reuters on Monday, July 30, 2018, that the CBN sold Chinese yuan at immediate value for a 15-day settlement.

According to the report, some lenders got as much as 60% of the volume they applied for, while a bank got just 5%. They said the volume sold was based on the price quoted for the yuan at the auction.

The Acting Director, Corporate Communications at the CBN, Isaac Okorafor, confirmed the sales.

He explained that bids received from authorised dealers were only attended to, adding that the availability of Renminbi will ease pressure on the foreign exchange market.

Okorafor further assured that the bank was committed to ensuring that all the sectors continue to enjoy access to the foreign exchange required for their business concerns, be it the U.S. dollar or Chinese yuan.

On May 3, 2018, the Central Bank of Nigeria signed a bilateral currency swap agreement with the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) worth about $2.5 billion.

The currency swap deal is valued at 16 billion Renminbi (RMB) and about 720 billion in Naira. The deal is expected to reduce the demand for US dollar by Nigerians importing goods from China, and consequently strengthening the value of the Naira.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that it will train retired Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and then integrate him into the Senior National Football Team technical crew.

Ikeme retired on Friday, July 27 following his victory over Acute-Leukamia which ruled him out of football for a while.

The shot-stopper’s decision to retire came as a shock to football loving Nigerians who hoped to see him in the Super Eagles jersey since his return to full fitness.

The Amaju Pinnick led NFF administration have however decided upon his retirement to incorporate the shot-stopper into the national team fold.



Dr. Mohammed Sanusi the NFF General Secretary made this known in a statement on the Federation’s website.

He said, “Carl Ikeme was an embodiment of absolute dedication, commitment and patriotic fervour in the games that he played for the Super Eagles. The circumstances of his retirement from the game are somewhat depressing, even as we thank God for his life.





“The Nigeria Football Federation will find the resources to send him on a coaching course, and afterwards absorb him into the technical crew of the Super Eagles. That is the least we can do for such a dedicated patriot.”


The football administrator also revealed that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers shot-stopper’s decision to retire was one in which the NFF were fully aware of.

He said, “A few weeks ago, he had spoken on phone with the NFF President and 1 Vice President of CAF, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, to intimate him on his (Ikeme’s) desire to retire. Even though he was sad about, the NFF President commended his fighting spirit and respected his decision, and also said he would rather allow the player or his club to break the news.”

Ikeme played in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and also in the qualifiers of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Terver Akase, the spokesman of the Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom has called on Adams Oshiomhole to speak with decorum.

Akase said this while reacting to an allegation that those working with Ortom were involved in the killing of two Catholic Priests.

The Governor’s spokesman also called on the APC chairman to speak in a way that will unite the ruling party and not divide it.

He said “We expected that the national chairman of the ruling party should speak with decorum, he should speak on issues with caution.

“He should speak on matters that would give Nigerians hope not disunite. And he appears to be speaking so much so early and too quickly.

“He, at one point spoke on presidential matters and issues that concern the Federal Executive Council, he speaks on issues concerning Ministers and all that.

“I think he should be advised to concentrate on the job that concerns the office of the national chairman and his party.

“He is not a security man, he is not part of the judiciary, he is not part of the investigative panel that is investigating the people who were arrested over the murder of the two Priests and the 17 worshippers at Mbalon.

“So, we advise the national chairman of the APC to speak on matters that concern his office. That is what would make for good governance in Nigeria.”

Oshiomhole, in his reaction to Ortom’s defection, said that he is relieved that the Governor left the party.

According to the APC chairman, the Governor’s nomination as the party’s candidate in 2015 was by accident.

Here is what Akase had to say: “You’ll recall that when Governor Ortom met with him in Abuja last week, he described the Governor as an honorable person who has done very well and who is one of the stars of the APC.

“It is on record that he said that. He said all of those things. So the same national chairman cannot turn around to castigate Governor Ortom and call his move as a good radiance to bad rubbish.

“No, the words that he used on Governor Ortom when he was standing beside him have already been inscribed in the minds of Nigerians that Ortom is an honorable person, he is a man who is one of the stars of the APC.

“That is what Nigerians have recorded and not what he is now saying after the Governor defected from the APC.”

Akase also said “Nigerians would recall that Governor Ortom was widely applauded for introducing an amnesty programme in the early life of this administration which disarmed hundreds of youths with over 1,000 arms and ammunition recovered from the repentant youths which were eventually destroyed in public glare.

“The same Governor cannot turn round to arm youths of the state. So that allegation by the National Chairman of the APC is very unfortunate because it is coming from a man Nigerians expect to speak with caution since security agencies are still investigating the matter.

“We all know that no one has been convicted over that matter yet, so is Adams Oshiomhole saying that he has seen the investigation report, that he is privy to the court verdict that would later be passed on the suspects?

Is he telling us that he has seen the investigation report or what? What does he know that we do not know? So if he has jumped into conclusion that the suspects were sponsored by the Governor, then it means that either the investigation into the matter has been compromised or that he is influencing it. If not, how would he have known that the people who are being investigated were sponsored by the Governor?

“Benue people know who their killers are, and these people are sponsored by Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and other Miyetti Allah groups.

“We have, at several times, called for their arrest, so that statement by the National Chairman of the APC is not statesmanly, it is very unfortunate and unbecoming.”

Governor Samuel Ortom announced his defection from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, July 25, 2018.

Local reports show that the steam ship which was used by the British Government in the 1880s, is now located in Akassa, southern part of Bayelsa State.

The steam ship was used to convey people and goods from one place to another before the existence of trains, cars, trucks and airplanes existed.

River travel was often slow because speed of travel depended on the river current and manpower. That all changed with the introduction of steam- powered boats in the late 1700s and early 1800s.

Doctors in Canada have recently opened up to say that they are being paid too much salary.More than 500 doctors and residents, as well as over 150 medical students, have signed a public letter protesting their own pay raises.

The group say they are offended that they would receive raises when nurses and patients are struggling. .
The 213 general practitioners,184 specialists, 147 resident medical doctors and 162 medical students want the money used for their raises to be returned to the system instead. .

Here is what they wrote:
“We, Quebec doctors who believe in a strong public system, oppose the recent salary increases negotiated by our medical federations, these increases are all the more shocking because our nurses, clerks and other professionals face very difficult working conditions, while our patients live with the lack of access to required services because of the drastic cuts in recent years and the centralization of power in the Ministry of Health. The only thing that seems to be immune to the cuts is our remuneration,”

A physician in Canada is paid $260,924 ($339,000 Canadian) for clinical services per year on average. On average, a family physician is paid $211,717 ($275,000 Canadian) for clinical services and a surgical specialist is paid $354,915 ($461,000 Canadian).

This is total gross pay, and does not take into account overhead each doctor pays to operate.
